We stopped here for a night stay. I do agree it looks better on the inside than the outside! The front desk staff were really sweet and provided us with advice on seeing the northern lights! This was day 5 of 10 on Iceland ring road. That night we were able to see the northern lights it was amazing! The room was cozy, very clean and had everything you needed for a good nights sleep. The beds very comfortable and plenty of space in the room. Breakfast is not included, about $18 USD per person. There aren’t a lot of options near the hotel to eat so we decided to eat breakfast there. The pancakes were delicious and it also included typical Icelandic breakfast. I would definitely stay here again!

다른 아이슬란드 호텔과 비교해서 낡은 장소를 호텔로 사용해 좀 낡은 느낌을 빼곤 좋았습니다. 스태프는 무척 친절했고 전기차 충전이 가능했으며(ON power) 방음도 준수했습니다. 다만 아침은 기대치에 미치지 못했습니다. 음식의 종류와 양 모두 별로였으며 커피를 바로 내려서 먹지 못하는 것도 별로였습니다. 조금 외진 곳이라 이런 부분을 개선한다면 도움이 될것 같아요.

Staff makes the place. Nothing exquisite about the place, but it sleeps well and the restaurant was pretty good. Parking could be upgraded a little to ease the movement from car to rooms, but don’t let that worry you. I had a great nights sleep and a good meal.

Great place, perfect location for our plans. The breakfast was great and the hotel restaurant was great as well. No other food choices nearby. We planned to hike Studlagil canyon early, and this hotel allowed us to do that. We ate at the hotel at 7:30, were at the Canyon by 8AM and we had the hike in and about 30 minutes while we were the only ones there except one other couple who left as we arrived. On the hike out we passed hundreds of people on their way in. We had enough time left in the day to visit the Puffin colony in Borgurfjorder eysrti, visit Seydisurfjorder, and drive to Fáskrúðsfjörður

Das Personal war super freundlich und hilfsbereit. Die Räumlichkeiten scheinen eine alte Schule zu sein=der Speisesaal war wohl die Aula. Alles sehr sauber und man kann sich Gesellschaftsspiele ausleihen. Das Frühstück war wie in allen anderen Hotel gut isländische.

The staff was the best, even in a high stress situation with road closures bringing an unexpected full booking. They have a common area with tables and board games, including Catan, to hang out outside your room. Room was spacious for Icelandic standards. Rooms were clean and modern.

This hotel was very convenient as we were visiting the Studlagil canyon. It is super close from this location and the hotel is located in the same road #1. It is well maintained, rooms are in excellent condition, clean, neat. Staff is super friendly and cool. Restaurant is excellent. We had an evening dinner and it was delicious. Good breakfast.

Pros: beautiful surroundings, close to canyon, friendly staff, good food, comfy beds Cons: room was like a prefab shelter in poor condition, toilet leaking, insufficient heating, price was like a 4* in Tokyo or NY. I get it that we’re paying for the location and not for quality or comfort, but this felt like a bit too overpriced. It was the worst stay we had in Iceland, and in the top 3 of the priciest I ever paid.

The staff greeted us quickly and gave us a tour of the place at check in. The room was clean and perfect for our needs. The catfish at dinner was cooked perfect. The breakfast was excellent and we never ran out of the essentials. We saw the Northern Lights over the hotel that evening. I'd stay here again for sure. Thank you for you hospitality!

We are very pleased that we chose to stay at this hotel. The young gentleman who welcomed us in the evening was very polite and friendly. He made us feel right at home. The hotel is tastefully decorated. The room was spacious and clean, with comfortable beds and new bathroom. In the morning we had an excellent breakfast. There were two young men who made sure to continuously replace any foods/drinks that were finishing. One of the best hotels we stayed at during our road trip in Iceland. Highly recommended!

Not a lot of choices in this area and it appeared to be in the middle of no where so we were happy to see a place to rest at the end of the day. The facility is definitely older, the glass in our window was cracked, and the room only had a portable heater. Saying that it was manageable for one night, the food was okay, and the staff was friendly.

Perfect stop for us as we were on the ring road around. Room size was ok for a group of 3 pax, simple with no frills. But the hotel exude a cosy and family style stay. Check in and out was easy. We even had a chance to see the northernlights at the open space right besides the hotel. Bfast was good. We made a request for some eggs just before bfast time end. It was so kind and warm of them to agree to our requests. It was the exceptional services from them that made our day.

Wir hatten ein Familienzimmer. Dies war nicht im Hauptgebäude, sondern einem Nebengebäude. Die anderen Zimmer dort waren nicht belegt. Es war leider total unterkühlt (bei 0C Außentemperatur) und es gab nur kleine Heizelemente. Das Bad war wirklich nur sehr einfach und das warme Wasser nach der zweiten Person erst einmal weg. Gegen 23h hatten wir auch noch einen Stromausfall. Insgesamt eine sehr einfache Unterkunft. Frühstück war gut mit Müsli, Brot und Obst. Diverse Getränke.

One of the best family run hotels ever. The owner was so friendly and helpful. We are vegetarian and he went out of his way to prepare delicious food. Also hot up early just to prepare coffee and breakfast since we had to leave very early. Amazing service

The staff was very friendly—perhaps too friendly—as they spent quite some time entertaining the two people ahead of me when I arrived to check in. I waited for a while while they continued their conversation. I couldn’t understand what they were talking about since they weren’t speaking English, but it seemed to be a casual chat rather than anything important. Eventually, I gave the staff a signal to wrap it up, as I had been waiting for some time. Additionally, there were no cabinets, hooks, or hangers available where we could hang our clothes or jackets. The bathroom also lacked towel hooks, which made it difficult to find a place for our used or clean clothes when changing after a shower. As for the breakfast, it was fine—similar to what we’ve had in other hotels, with items like boiled eggs, smoked salmon, cheese, etc.

I had some issues with my car while at the property and the staff here were ready to jump in and help. Breakfast was also very lovely. Would 100% come back in the future.

The hotel staff are very nice people! They even made us egg sandwiches/breakfast to go because we didn’t made it through breakfast hour. Very strategic location to explore the majestic Studlagil Canyon!

Great experience. The position of this new managed - family owned hotel is strategic for Studlagil (the basalt canyon) and on the way that goes from Egilsstadir to the Hverir Geothermal Area/Namafjall Hike and the Northwestern area of Iceland. The position is very quiet, ideal to see the northern lights without the light pollution of the cities. We were so lucky to see an Arctic Fox few minutes before arriving at the hotel. The hotel was formerly a local school. It’s great to see this kind of reconversion into an hotel while breathing local history. The rooms are recently renovated, clean and essentials. We had the chance to have a great dinner at the hotel (chicken wraps and fries). Very good and not expensive considering the Icelandic prices! The breakfast is self service as well as the check in procedure. By our side the people of the staff is the added value of this hotel. They are very friendly and helpful. We absolutely suggest this hotel!

We stopped here for a night stay. I do agree it looks better on the inside than the outside! The front desk staff were really sweet and provided us with advice on seeing the northern lights! This was day 5 of 10 on Iceland ring road. That night we were able to see the northern lights it was amazing! The room was cozy, very clean and had everything you needed for a good nights sleep. The beds very comfortable and plenty of space in the room. Breakfast is not included, about $18 USD per person. There aren’t a lot of options near the hotel to eat so we decided to eat breakfast there. The pancakes were delicious and it also included typical Icelandic breakfast. I would definitely stay here again!

Great place, perfect location for our plans. The breakfast was great and the hotel restaurant was great as well. No other food choices nearby. We planned to hike Studlagil canyon early, and this hotel allowed us to do that. We ate at the hotel at 7:30, were at the Canyon by 8AM and we had the hike in and about 30 minutes while we were the only ones there except one other couple who left as we arrived. On the hike out we passed hundreds of people on their way in. We had enough time left in the day to visit the Puffin colony in Borgurfjorder eysrti, visit Seydisurfjorder, and drive to Fáskrúðsfjörður

Had a really nice dinner. Breakfast was a bit boring. Cold pancakes and the cheese was a bit plastic. Eggs so over cooked they were black inside. And the usual really really bad coffee that all hotels in Iceland seems to serve. Really a shame.

The staff greeted us quickly and gave us a tour of the place at check in. The room was clean and perfect for our needs. The catfish at dinner was cooked perfect. The breakfast was excellent and we never ran out of the essentials. We saw the Northern Lights over the hotel that evening. I'd stay here again for sure. Thank you for you hospitality!
