Bayou Lacombe Big Branch Wildlife Refuge Retreat

Laura and David were wonderful to deal with and get us some great recommendations for places to go and to eat. The view from the house is amazing, loved seeing the gators.The only thing we weren't expecting is you can feel the house sway. It isn't bad, just didn't expect it.We will definitely be back.

We LOVED our stay here. We had 6 adults and two toddlers, and the place was perfect. Beautiful views and lots of space inside and outside to enjoy. Plus we got to see quite a few gators and enjoy the fishing dock! Great little shop just up the road with everything you need for fishing.Laura was so easy to communicate with and was always quick to respond to messages. Could not have had a better experience! 10/10 would stay here again if we are ever in the area.

Everything was great!! Our first experience of staying on the bayou was perfect!

We enjoyed everything except one item. The water coming out of the plumbing fixtures was ‘discolored’(think dirty-looking).This was partially noticeable in the bathtub water, so i assume it was what we were drinking out of the kitchen faucet. Thankfully we happened to purchased several bottles of water in advance of our stay, so we used those for drinking. Near the end of our stay I brought this to the host’s attention. She indicated that it was an on-going issue and that the water had been tested and determined that it was safe to drink .I suggested that they provide some bottled water in the refrigerator for use by the guests. The host indicated that they did that for a while, but had discontinued that service. There was no mention of this in the ‘welcome’ book.

We had a wonderful, peaceful stay. The house and property were well maintained and clean. Everything we needed was there, and the Owners were very attentive. The location is perfect, and the view serene and beautiful. We can't wait to come back!
