Liked the walkability of the area and the ability to do laundry on site.

They can have better breakfast options. Down fall parking is very limited

The only downside was the pool. It was tiny and really just for show.Besides that we had a very nice stay in walking distance to the beach!!!

Cute updated small little hotel. Rooms were cute, personally the bed not so comfortable but they give you lots of pillows. Was not able to get the wi-fi to work, but I could use my hotspot from my phone. Breakfast was really simple, and perfect for a morning snack and hot cup of coffee. This was a random find and I would consider booking again. It is close to everything. Price per night was very reasonable as well. I kind of like that it is a smaller property it keeps it quiet. There is no elevator, so make sure your knees can handle up and down the staircase several times a day :)

This is your basic cheap-ish motel. Not fancy by a long shot, but clean and quiet. It's right on the Coast Hwy, a few blocks from the water but a short walk to the Steps Beach. The "pool" is tiny and sits right on the road; it is really un-usable, unless you want to just sit in it. The breakfast is made up of store-bought pastries, cereals and not very good coffee (there were apples, though). Walk a couple blocks down to Panikin for great coffee and breakfast. I made my reservation weeks in advance and requested via email a specific room. My request was ignored until a day or two before my arrival, at which time I was told it would be "subject to availability". And of course the room I'd requested well in advance wasn't available when I checked in. So don't bother communicating with them in advance since they apparently can't be bothered.

For the amount of money we spent was expecting a morenupdated room. Also parking for an suv was very minimal at night.

Dog friendly! $25 per pet per day under 40lbs is the lowest I’ve found. Beds are comfy enough.

This is an older hotel that is very convenient for our Thanksgiving dinner with family that lives in Encinitas. It doesn’t have an elevator, which was very trying for my wife and I ( our room was on the 2nd floor.

It was dirty and smelly, smelled like moss plus fungus. The carpet looked like didn’t wash over ten years. My family stayed one night there, really really disappointed.

The carpet is super old and looks dirty. The room reeked of smoke. However, all of the staff was super nice!

The room was very clean. The shower was terrific. There were a refrigerator, a microwave, and even a mini bar counter in the room. The mini bar counter is very useful for our stay. The hotel's location is very convenient and very close to the beaches and not far from I-5. The hallway was being remodeled and didn't look that great, but it didn't bother us.

Room was filthy and not cleaned upon our arrival. We arrived late and tired and had to wait after 10pm before entering our room. This is a disgrace.

The property needs serious upgrading. The location is excellent ,and with a major facelift, this could be an excellent hotel. the carpeting is very warn and deep dirt that really could not be cleaned. Staff friendly, modest breakfast, bed mattess, sheets, blankets are budget hotel grade. Bahtrroms very small but not much can be done for space in an remodel. Pet friendly apparently in every room, so you always had the feeling you were in not a super clean room. Unless ownership made major upgrades, I would not stay at this hotel in the future.

Nice quiet place. Front desk staff were nice and helpful. The room didn’t have a closet or anywhere to hang up clothes. Not necessarily a bad thing, just something to be aware of.

Not happy that after we got all unpacked and settled for a 4 night stay, found TV had " No signal." Sat Desk check in person checked with COX who could not fix till klTuesday. (holiday weekend." Not happy as we reserved for 4 nights in a room with no TV. We were able to change rooms the next AM, thankfully..

Bare bones, but good value for the price. Good location, but noisy with traffic and train nearby.

It was generally fine but the walls were very thin so we heard EVERYTHING our neighbors were doing. And the pillows were uncomfortable and thin. It was hard to get a good nights sleep.

The best thing about this hotel was that it was walking distance to the beach and it was small so not to many people. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable . I however did have to complain about room 103 because I had most horrible night sleep in years . It was hot and I had to use the air conditioner that woke me up every hour with rattling to wake the dead . Also the continental breakfast is an absolute joke

Nice hotel and super cool that it’s close to stone steps beach. Walking distance and that beach is not crowded during summer. I’ve stayed here twice already during work travel. 8/10. Train is loud in the mornings when it passes by. Other than that, it’s nice to stay there.

The location is perfect for beach walks and for dining. The staff is terrific and very accommodating.

Our room had a HORRIBLE FOUL SMELL in the bathroom that went into the room. When we arrived at the room, the windows were wide open. Maybe they were trying to air out the smell? I went to the front desk and explained. She came back to the room with me to see for herself. Then she told me to wait while she checks on a solution. They did not have any room to switch us to. That would have solved things! This situation was not our fault. They said they could send a technician in the morning??? That would be too late. Because it smelled so foul and they couldn't solve the issue, we couldn't sleep in that room. The room was not in proper condition for guests! We ended up booking at another hotel, we had the inconvenience of moving to another place and paying for it because of the condition of the room we were given. This is solely the responsibility of the hotel! They REFUSED to issue a refund. They kept our money without providing a proper room! I called 4 times about this to talk to them. At first they seemed to understand and led me to believe they would issue the refund. We were only briefly in the room, trying to see if it would air out and then waiting for the hotel to respond to our situation. I don't understand this kind of behavior! I find it very upsetting that they are keeping the money and not treating their guests better. They could have apologized for the situation. No, they did not. They could have refunded our money when we left. No they did not!

I travel to San Diego 2-4 times a year.My firm provides a discounted rate at a Hyatt Regency but I prefer the local vibe of Leucadia and Encinitas. This was my first time staying here but will be the only place I stay from now on. Great location, rooms, parking, and friendly staff. My go to hotel from now on.

Great customer service. Wanted something more quiet and they listened and gave me a nice room. Bed was comfy and shower was clean.

We booked on line for a two queen beds non smoking. Arrived at the hotel and was checked into a room with a king size bed. Shared with the manager our confirmation email and receipt for room with two beds. We couldn’t be accommodated. The manager blamed Hotels.com and really bad mouthed the third party service providers and basically told us we were out of luck we could go somewhere else. We stayed and they offered us a blow up bed for an additional $20 which we contested. It was the most frustrating and horrible experience I’ve had traveling. I wouldn’t stay at that hotel and I’m concerned after what the manager shared about Hotels.com if there’s any truth? I really would like my money back for this most awful experience but the manager said it was Hotels.com’s fault….

First of all I got to say that this the purpose of getting some sleep at this place has been accomplished. However there were a few interesting details that made me feel rather uneasy. First, during the check-in I was asked to sign on some policies, which in itself did not feel unusual. What did feel unusual is the following policy that was on the list: 'The hotel may enter your room at least once per day, even with a "Do Not Disturb" sign, to ensure the room is clean and in good condition for you and other guests. You authorize hotel staff to enter for this purpose.' Second, when I asked if I could get my water bottle refilled, the staff at the desk said no, because their water filter only gets turned on for the breakfast, but that I am welcome to buy some bottled water. I did not quite follow how a water filter can only be turned on for breakfast, and I preferred not to ask further questions for various reasons, but during the breakfast there was a different staff at the desk, who clarified, that they don't have a filter (so it seems that the hot water that is served at breakfast is unfiltered). Third, the room felt a little stuffy and had a strange smell, but after the response I got about the filter, I did not feel comfortable inquiring whether it would be possible to do anything about it. Frankly, if I was not staying there with my friend, I would have been scared to sleep there.

The location of this hotel is perfect for walking to downtown Encinitas or the nearby beaches and it’s away from the main Highway though still on a busy street. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room has small fridge and microwave and the usual amenities. It’s a popular place and was full booked when we were here. It was a comfortable place to stay while we visited our daughter while we spent most of our time out and about exploring.

This is an older property and it does show some wear and tear, but it’s in a great location. 5 minute walk to the beach, great options for food nearby. Comfort level was medium, the staff that I interacted with were attentive and friendly. Good price point for what’s around the area.

Quiet area of Encinitas and close to beach and some local restaurants and fantastic coffee shop. Will come back to this place for sure.

TV is not working, Conditioner container in the shower was empty. Breakfast is only toast, cold cereal and little muffin, coffee and OJ.

Good job of modernizing this hotel. Upgrades well done. Hotel may be old but now is clean and crisp. Good stay. Was disappointed with the breakfast, as it is a bit limited.

Super clean, friendly staff. Only complaint was breakfast is a bust & no water station, only an ice maker outside.

Breakfast is a misnomer

The free breakfast is really bad. No milk, No eggs. No water… Attached you will find all the food and drinks. I’m so disappointed.

It was good but the breakfast was lacking.

The room had no closet. Overhead light by door didn’t stay on. Bathroom light was tied to noisy fan. Absolutely no information in room. Two remotes with tv—no instructions. “Breakfast” was a joke—stale pastries not refreshed for days and only green tea available that tasted like grass clippings.

Stay was nice enough. Good location near restaurants, shops, and the beach. Staff was good at check in and when we had a request (hair dryer, knife). Beds were clean and comfortable. Pillows need to be replaced (VERY yellow), hair left on shower walls. Carpets outside the rooms need to be replaced. Breakfast was super basic. Air conditioner was super loud but worked. Pool is TINY and in the parking lot.

I can’t believe they call a banana, garbage mini muffins and coffee a breakfast. They run out of most of by 8:30 with no replacement
