Unique & VERY clean cabin located close to Boulder & mountain towns. Nederland is less than 10 min away and has great restaurants & views. Second floor with bedrooms gets a bit warm in Summer (need to leave sliders open overnight for cooler air) but overall we had a great stay & had everything we needed. We had 4 teens/young adults with us (6 total) and had plenty of space.

The house is great, well stocked and was super clean. The bedrooms are large with comfortable beds and nice view in primary bedroom. The kitchen has great appliances and I appreciated how well stocked it was.

We loved our stay at the Owl Chalet! The views were incredible and the house was very comfortable. We made use of the awesome kitchen and enjoyed having the screened windows open in the evening. Even in mid-June it got a bit chilly at night so no need for AC which was a welcome change for us! Some reviews mentioned a steep driveway, but to clarify, it's the road up to the property that is a bit steep. However, we had no trouble getting up it in our van, and the parking area is flat so it was easy to unload bags straight into the house. I would not want to go up the hill with a trailer or camper in the snow, but that's just me. Overall, we greatly enjoyed our stay and would recommend for a short summer getaway!

This home was perfect for our week long stay during thanksgiving break! Great cookware, utensils, washer, dryer, beds and bedding. Plenty of space for everyone to move around and have privacy. As others have mentioned, it’s unique and has tons of little quirky details we found interesting. We traveled with our dogs and the small fenced in backyard was perfect for potty and play time. The neighbors have dogs and we’re super friendly. There are a few neighbors around, however the homes are far enough apart it still felt private. The location was perfect for us. It’s close to hiking, skiing, coffee shop, book store, small grocery store and necessities shops. It’s about 45 minutes to Boulder with a beautiful drive along the way. If I had to give any advice for someone looking to stay, there are stairs to get to all the bedrooms. The parking area is not attached to the home and is up on top a small hill. To get to the front door you must go down a few stairs. So maybe not ideal for someone who needs walking assistance with a walker or wheelchair. One shower upstairs and a small bathtub/shower downstairs. We did need additional towels, so we had to wash them frequently. We were able to all pile up and watch movies in the living room. There’s also a lounge area near the kitchen you can visit with everyone while cooking. The owner was amazing and had great communication. She went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. We will be staying here again!!!!

The location is great! Within an hour of almost everything. Drive to Nederland is super quick and easy. The wrap around balcony off of master bedroom was worth all of it! Communication with the host was always fast and easy. Plenty of room but maintained the coziness we were looking for. We are so happy we chose to stay here!

We booked the property to be close to my daughter that moved to Boulder recently. It’s a 45 min to Boulder and beautiful tucked away in the mountains at about 8500 feet. The property was exactly as listed / nice propane fireplace and large comfortable king bed in the master suite with gorgeous views of the Roosevelt national forest. Rollinsville is an old mining town established in the 1800’s. Make sure and go to the grocery store before you get to town because there is none there. Golden is a good choice. We visited a lot of restaurants, coffee shops and gift shops in Nederland a short 8 min drive away. The pizza at Crosscut is unbelievably fresh and delicious. The Rustic moose has a ton of great gift options and the New Moon has the perfect cup of cappuccino! I think a good alternate name for the owl chalet is whistling winds retreat due to the high winds. We don’t spend a lot of time in the mountains in winter so this was new to us. We went hiking in Boulder where it’s a good 15 degrees warmer and enjoyed watching the big screen tv and playing cards and games at night in the house. Thanks for hosting us !

It had already snowed with approximately 12" of accumulation and it continued to snow for the next 36 hours giving us about 18-24" of snow total. We were very grateful to find that the host had arranged to have a pathway cleared for us to get into the house. Because of the amount of snow that had fallen we were somewhat restricted on where we were able to go. The brewery mentioned in the description is also an excellent coffee shop and it was just a few minute walk from the house. We went there for coffee and breakfast during the worst of the snowstorm - good food and great coffee. The property also includes a fenced in area of the yard. This was a great asset for us and our pet dog. He loved being able to run and play in the snow. We loved it there.

This is a nice 3 bedroom mountain home with a great kitchen and great views! Good place for a small family or group get-together and ski/snowboard trip as it is located close to the Eldora Ski Area. Clean, well appointed for cooking, and peaceful place in Rollinsville CO. All mountain activities are located nearby and Nederland is also close with restaurants and family fun.

The property was as advertised, but located very close to other run down properties and a long drive from anything else. The house had the amenities advertised, the only difficulties were 1. no a/c upstairs, generally not a problem I imagine, but we were there the hottest days of the year and not all of the windows upstairs had screens so we could open for ventilation. The doors in the master/ screens were either off the track or very hard to open except one. Shower upstairs had doors off the track and no water pressure. This is a very nice stay but not "luxury" for sure. The owner couldnt be nicer and the communicaion we had was just right.

This well equipped house in Rollinsville made a great home base from which to explore the area. So many great outdoor activities within a short drive, we only wished we had more time to see and do more. The three bedrooms with big beds plus a well equipped kitchen (thanks so much for the complete spice rack!) was perfect for parents plus sons with wives. Make sure you get your groceries beforehand as the peace and solitude also mean a bit of a distance to a market. I would rather be close to a trout stream than a Safeway any day, though. The brewery, distillery and pizza place a short 3-5 minute walk down the road was a pleasant surprise for the young adults. All in all, highly recommended and will look for a return option next time we visit our kiddos in Denver.

During our stay, we appreciated having plenty of bath towels, a large kitchen table, comfortable beds and the home’s walkable location to town.However, we were disappointed to arrive and find knee high grass directly outside the home and in the fenced area. There was also a lot of trash in the fenced area and the mat was under the dirt. The patio furniture was dirty and the patio needed to be swept. The dryer was full of towels that needed to be folded and put away. There was an odor in the master bedroom that over a few days I discovered was a urine smell coming from the carpet by the window.We understand this is an older home, but it is in great need of updates and repair with flooring coming up and trim pieces broken or missing throughout. With some care and updates this place could be great overall!

I wish I could leave a better review but I want to be honest for other renters to be aware. This would have helped me make a better decision for renting. House was dirty in many of the rooms. Starting with kitchen sink and surfaces. Splatter marks on surfaces and walls. Floor was dirty from spills, not by us. Refrigerator was dirty along with freezer with bugs. Very dusty throughout. Couch pillows covered with dog hair. Bottom bathroom with lots of spiders and a rug trying to hide some flooring issue. Upstairs bathroom with rug in front of toilet hiding another floor issue. Bathtub shower insert felt like it would cave in from standing in the middle. Shower head could be nice but covered with lots of scale build up. Shower handle very loose and hard to set to good temp because of be so loose. Shower door part is off and are very loose swinging. Vanity faucet was dirty from prior renter. Upstairs floors had long black from another renter along with a leftover drink bottle under bed. Rooms were at 78 degrees when we arrived at 6pm day of checkin. Got them to cool down to 70 by midnight and use of box fans provided. East bed was hard but other two beds were comfy. All rooms had multiple bugs crawling or flying around. Neighbor dogs bark a lot during day and evenings. I honestly could not cook a meal in that kitchen. Too dirty. Good things to say; plenty of hot water, go out on balcony around 3am to see massive amounts of stars, town pizza place has good pizza and great service.

The house was fine. Safe, quiet, and generally as described. But the photos were taken from generous angles—maybe enhanced or just old. The place was free of garbage, but the floors and sofa had dog hair from previous guests. There were no paper towels or napkins, and only one towel per person for the entire stay.The home itself needs some attention. Doors that don’t close, switches that don’t work, and a few fixes a handyman could knock out in an afternoon. The coffee maker and shower heads need descaling.It’s also a home on a mountain with no view. That’s important to know before you book.

Rented this cabin for a girls snow trip; this was our first time in Colorado (from the South). It’s about an 1.15 hrs away from Denver and 20 minutes from Black Hawk which had many restaurants and casinos. The roads driving to the house wear clear of snow and fairly easy to navigate. You will need a AWD car to navigate these areas during the winter. The cabin has spacious rooms and is very clean. I appreciated the two full bathrooms. Clara the host was responsive and attentive to our inquiries.

When we arrived at 4:15 p.m. the cleaning crew were still working, so we had a slight delay in check in. The cabin was nice, some quirky features, but plenty of room for my husband and I an our 2 boys. There were several dishes in the kitchen that were put away dirty by the previous guests. :( My favorite room is the Main bedroom upstairs, Floor to ceiling windows and nice mountain views! Overall it was a good stay!

The area is beautiful! Only about 30 mins from the city but so quiet and close to numerous hikes of all levels of difficulty. There’s something for everyone. Check in and out was super easy and we were all very comfortable in this cute little cabin in the woods.
The area is beautiful! Only about 30 mins from the city but so quiet and close to numerous hikes of all levels of difficulty. There’s something for everyone. Check in and out was super easy and we were all very comfortable in this cute little cabin in the woods.

Rented this cabin for a girls snow trip; this was our first time in Colorado (from the South). It’s about an 1.15 hrs away from Denver and 20 minutes from Black Hawk which had many restaurants and casinos. The roads driving to the house wear clear of snow and fairly easy to navigate. You will need a AWD car to navigate these areas during the winter. The cabin has spacious rooms and is very clean. I appreciated the two full bathrooms. The property was as advertised, but located very close to other run down properties and a long drive from anything else. The house had the amenities advertised, the only difficulties were 1. no a/c upstairs, generally not a problem I imagine, but we were there the hottest days of the year and not all of the windows upstairs had screens so we could open for ventilation. The doors in the master/ screens were either off the track or very hard to open except one. Shower upstairs had doors off the track and no water pressure. This is a very nice stay but not "luxury" for sure. The owner couldnt be nicer and the communicaion we had was just right.

Our stay here was very nice. The area was very quaint. Obviously the scenery is spectacular. The house was very charming, as well, with plenty of space to move around. There was lots to explore in the immeadiate area and the Owl Chalet was a relatively short drive to the surrounding Denver area. I would love to go back to Owl Chalet some day.

The owl chalet is absolute gem and delight to stay in! It is such the most perfect and wonderful mix of modern comfort in a beautiful cabin, which is exactly what we were hoping to find in our trip. Incredibly well put together, organized, and designed so lovely! Not to mention we found beautiful lighting in the fall. Thank you to our host for being responsive and maintaining a beautiful place for us to enjoy!

My wife and I went up for a long Valentine's weekend. We had a great time with the house to ourselves. Excellent access to Nederland and Eldora skiing and a cross the street from Rollingsville's Main St. Clara (host) was very helpful and responded quickly.

It had already snowed with approximately 12" of accumulation and it continued to snow for the next 36 hours giving us about 18-24" of snow total. We were very grateful to find that the host had arranged to have a pathway cleared for us to get into the house. Because of the amount of snow that had fallen we were somewhat restricted on where we were able to go. The brewery mentioned in the description is also an excellent coffee shop and it was just a few minute walk from the house. We went there for coffee and breakfast during the worst of the snowstorm - good food and great coffee. The property also includes a fenced in area of the yard. This was a great asset for us and our pet dog. He loved being able to run and play in the snow. We loved it there.

When we arrived at 4:15 p.m. the cleaning crew were still working, so we had a slight delay in check in. The cabin was nice, some quirky features, but plenty of room for my husband and I an our 2 boys. There were several dishes in the kitchen that were put away dirty by the previous guests. :( My favorite room is the Main bedroom upstairs, Floor to ceiling windows and nice mountain views! Overall it was a good stay!

Rollinsville has a coffee shop, brewery and pizza oven ride down the road from the house (check the operating hours of those businesses though - they are not open some days). The house is perfect for 6 people. It has more than adequate kitchen equipment and room to cook. The towels are quite nice and the beds were comfortable. We would definitely stay here again!

We really enjoyed our stay. Especially the pizza restaurant TOSS and brewery at the cross roads in Rollinsville a 5 min. walk away. The cabin was cozy and had all the appropriate amenities. It doesn't have A/C but cools off in the nights and there are lots of windows and fans. We found we were centrally located between Rocky Mountain National Park, Black/Hawk/Central City/Idaho Springs, Boulder and a little closer to Roosevelt National Park, Golden Gate Canyon Stat Park so there was lots to do, hiking, biking, horseback riding

It was the perfect home for our family. All the positive feed backs on the house was on point. There’s not a negative thing about it. It was clean and beautiful! It was cosy and inviting. After a long day of skiing, we cold hide away and cook or we could go across the street for pizzas and drinks. The locals were super friendly and nice. There are also many other restaurants, breweries/distilleries and grocery store only 8 minutes away. Clara, thank you for hosting us! You get 5 stars alone!

It was a beautiful old cabin. Very unique. It was very creaky but that didntget matter at all. There hasn't a whole lot to do in the area but we wanted a cabin in the mountains and that is what we got! The town shuts down early. But overall we had a great stay!

This cabin was perfect for our family of 5 plus a dog! We loved it. Beds were very comfortable, house was well-maintained and stocked. I really loved that there was only one TV which was in the main family room. I always bring our own food and cook when we go on trips to get away. Kitchen was great; loved the picnic table positioned in the extended room facing the glass sliding door. We spotted a handsome fox in the yard while eating dinner. We enjoyed seeing deer and a moose strolling/grazing in the front yard area during our stay as well! So many great outdoor activities within a short drive, we only wished we had more time to see and do more. The three bedrooms with big beds plus a well equipped kitchen (thanks so much for the complete spice rack!) was perfect for parents plus sons with wives. Make sure you get your groceries beforehand as the peace and solitude also mean a bit of a distance to a market. I would rather be close to a trout stream than a Safeway any day, though. The brewery, distillery and pizza place a short 3-5 minute walk down the road was a pleasant surprise for the young adults. All in all, highly recommended and will look for a return option next time we visit our kiddos in Denver.

It is a very cozy home!! We loved our stay here. The stove heater was great, it really warms up the living room when cold. We enjoyed all the outdoor seating as well. Some trash from past visitors was left in a couple dresser drawers, but it’s not a big issue at all. We threw it away. Overall a great stay and we would stay again many times! Our dog loved the outdoors and the fenced off area.
It is a very cozy home!! We loved our stay here. The stove heater was great, it really warms up the living room when cold. We enjoyed all the outdoor seating as well. Some trash from past visitors was left in a couple dresser drawers, but it’s not a big issue at all. We threw it away. Overall a great stay and we would stay again many times! Our dog loved the outdoors and the fenced off area.
