Jump start The Road to Hana at The Lookout House!

Wow! The views were absolutely stunning! We enjoyed the Cliff walk and getting a jump start on the Road to Hana. We loved family time in the hot tub each evening after our fun day adventures.

Great unique location part way on Road to Hana. Really enjoyed it! House has AC and was comfortable. Amazing views out every window. Very private.

First, a note about the host. The day before our stay we were scheduled to be in Kahului at a hotel. Unfortunately, this was the timing of a Tsunami warning. Our hotel and surrounding area were evacuated, meaning we would have to stay in a shelter or our rental car (with 3 children, not fun). We called Sharyn on the off chance that she might be able to help, as the property is well out of the Tsunami Zone. She called within 5 minutes and made arrangements for us to arrive early and provided recommendations about getting provisions. In my opinion, you can’t truly know how a host is going to be until something goes wrong. Take comfort that you are in fantastic hands on this property!! She saved our vacation!On to the space…the layout of the house was perfect for everyone to have privacy when needed and together time when wanted. Cooking was easy and comfortable, the AC was helpful when the winds were too strong to keep the windows open. But the true gem was the property, landscaping, and ways to enjoy both with Lanai space. You could literally walk around and feel like you were in paradise! They maintain it beautifully with such interesting flora! The pool was the best I have ever swam in…it was beautiful, comfortable temperature the entire time, just enough sun, and located inside lush plants that really gave that feeling of privacy. Great location for Road to Hana and North Shore towns and beaches! A true 10/10!!

Our crew had an amazing time at the property. The house is great with lots of natural light. Our hosts were very thoughtful and decorated the house with tropical flowers and even left us some goodies for our arrival. The house has a rustic charm that feels warm and inviting. We spent a great deal of time with the a/c off and the doors open letting the breeze blow through. The location cannot be beat if you're considering driving the Road to Hana or exploring Haleakala, both of which were our primary objectives of this trip. The grounds of the property are stunning and feel like a well-maintained tropical paradise with an abundance of tropical plants and flowers throughout the landscape. The pool was also nice, and the kids thoroughly enjoyed it. The walkout to the cliff was spectacular and offered stunning views overlooking the ocean. I will also say the stars from the upper deck at night were a treat and we enjoyed sitting out there late staring up into the heavens. I cannot say enough positive things about our stay, the friendliness of our hosts, or the natural beauty surrounding the property. We would definitely recommend it to anyone really wanting to enjoy the lush tropical beauty of Maui while also enjoying a little personal space.

A lovely house in a tropical garden setting - very comfortable, and thoughtful details in the design and decor. A very well equipped kitchen. A special thank you for the fresh eggs, coffee, bread and fruit, and the welcoming set table and fresh flowers throughout. Hope to return again 😊

We had a wonderful stay in the lookout house in February 2022! The house is exactly like the pictures, including the amazing 3-sided view of the ocean and Haleakala from the living room. We turned the chairs to face outward and watched the sunrise there every day. The beds are comfortable, kitchen well equipped, hot tub warm & bubbly, and the pool refreshing (though unheated, so a bit cold in winter). The setting is super private - the only times we saw other guests in 10 days were a couple times as we were driving off the property. We loved staying in this hidden corner of Maui, which is beautiful, lush, and not crowded by other people. That said, it is remote (about a half hour to Paia, the nearest town), so if you want night life, easy access to restaurants, etc, this probably isn’t the spot for you. Hosts Sharyn and Jeff were available but generally hands-off unless needed, which we appreciated.

Host did everything possible to make us feel at home. It was more roomy then we expected. Many extras were provided. Beautiful sunrises and spectacular landscaping especially around the pool.

Wow! What an incredibly beautiful property! The lush natural landscape and the colorful decor of the spacious home truly represent the highest sense of a tropical paradise. Our family of 8 appreciated how clean the home was on our arrival and we made great use of the well equipped kitchen during our stay. The strong WIFI connection made a few work hours painless and the consistent hot water was a pleasant surprise, considering our relatively large group. The owners were friendly and accommodating and ultimately Huelo Point Lookout was a wonderful location for our family to spend valued time together!

This house was all that was promised and more. We loved the chance to relax and be on the road to Hana. We woke up to the best sunrise around with tropical birds singing to us. The pool and hot tub were the kids favorite. We could not have asked for a more peaceful place to enjoy Maui.

I absolutely cannot say enough wonderful things about this VRBO! We absolutely loved it. It's an oasis in such a beautiful location! We stayed in the Lookout and waking up to the sunrise over the ocean every day was perfect. If you are one to sleep in, take an eye mask as this place lights up with the sun every morning. It's so nice to wake up with the warm golden sun on your face! It is definitely remote, but in the best way! We loved staying out this far and just built in the time to get back and forth from the location. Just plan for it, and you'll be so glad you did! We popped into Paia easily for breakfast and dinner - a nice beautiful drive. Go to Cafe Amis! :) The place had everything we needed and more - every detail was taken care of. A private hot tub under the stars after a long day of hiking cannot be beat! :) Sharyn left the perfect amount of snacks, eggs, bread and amazing fruit to keep us going when we needed it. Love the towel warmer and being able to do laundry! We would stay here again in a heartbeat - you'll be so glad you did!

We still felt apart of a community since there were others staying at the property and the pool was shared. So, we enjoyed the remoteness without feeling totally alone. The cliff walk was a one in a lifetime experience for us and most other people! The owners were incredibly nice and welcoming. The place is very clean and spacious. Best sunrises too! Definitely stay here if you are considering staying on the north side. Lots of rain but that is why it is so lush and beautiful!!

Everything one could say good about a vacation retreat (hosts, quality of the place and surroundings, beds, interior, exterior, feeling, ambiance, countless little sweet and touching details) - all is in there. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay. This house is tucked back away from the hustle and bustle. The views are amazing and the privacy unmatched! The bread, coffee and fresh eggs were such a nice touch and we appreciate the composting and gardening that is occurring. We would love to stay here again!!!

This was one of the most peaceful places we have ever stayed on Maui. If you want to get off the tourist track, this place is perfect. Loved the views, the chickens, the hostess was fantastic and provided fresh eggs, bread and jelly, fruit, chocolate covered strawberries and champagne. Absolutely delightful!

The views from the house of the ocean are breathtaking! The house fit our family of three generations, 8 people, perfectly! ( ages 7 to 67 ) Excellent communication from the owners!!! A perfect location for the start to the Road to Hana, and Haleakala National Park! And so many other beautiful places to experience! The lookout house was amazing! This side of the island is a complete different experience from the west side. The house is a great jumping off point for the road to Hana. The grounds are truely magical and the house is very comfortable. 5 Stars!

This was by far our favorite stay on our vacation. the sunrises in the mornings over the coast was just amazing. I loved the breeze and the peace and really everything about the house. it was such a peaceful place to come back to after a day out exploring maui.

My wife, daughters and I loved staying at The Lookout House. Sharyn and Kai were great. Our kids loved the pool and cliff walk. My wife and I loved the views, space and privacy. This is a perfect spot for a family. You could get all your food in town and enjoy youre whole stay at this place. The staff was extremely nice and good with communication. The host went above and beyond and were more than accommodating to our stay. I would say if youre looking for a place with a pool and amazing views this is it. House did not disappoint! Beautiful location and views, great vicinity for the road to Hana and volcano summit, and comfortable stay. Due to water shortages on the island the water ran out but the hosts did everything possible to resolve it quickly for us.

Our stay was amazing! The views were great, hosts were always available if needed, and very welcoming. It’s a great jump start to the road to Hana. Plenty of space for a large family, really great get away from hustle and bustle of town. We piggy backed this off of time at Ka’anapali and it was great to get both experiences in for a fabulous balanced trip ❤️. Hawaii is truly one of a kind!

I cannot speak highly enough about Sharyn, Jeff, and their stunning property. When you think Hawaii, THIS home and its location are precisely what you picture. The added touches left (chocolates, fresh coffee beans, snacks, games, etc) made my family feel so at home and welcome. Sharyn was communicative and very helpful for giving tips on fun places to go and if you read the welcome book left you'll also find some of the best places to eat! If you want to see the natural beauty and non-tourist areas of the island then don't hesitate: this is the place for you!

We loved our time at the lookout house! It is so remote, quiet, and peaceful. We loved not having any road noise in the background and just the sounds birds, cows (yes, cows!) and the distant ocean. There were rainbows and whale spouts to spot almost every day. And it truly does jumpstart your Hana drive. We hardly met any crowds or traffic. Wish we didn't have to return to a polar vortex, but it was nice while it lasted!

This place was incredible, the views were gorgeous, and the location was perfect, as its right at the beginning of the Road to Hana, and gorgeous 20 min drive from Paia, and a stones throw from the smaller towns on the island. Would 100% recommend, and would stay again.
