Wander Camp Grand Canyon

Great camp grounds, spacious tent, bathroom/showers clean and lots of hot water. Host kept us informed via txt messages prior to arrival. Very friendly host, informative with great communication.

We really enjoyed our time at Wander Camp Grand Canyon! Our tent was clean and comfortable, views and stars were beautiful, and our camp host was super kind and helpful. We also appreciated that the bathrooms included clean showers after a long day of hiking at the Grand Canyon. We did find it a little odd that there was no dedicated place to wash dishes or cookware after cooking dinner. We’re used to camping, so we were fine to wash them near our site, but it would have been nice to have a dish sink, given the location’s other amenities. We also would have enjoyed the opportunity to have a fire at our individual site, rather than a common area, but this wasn’t too big of a deal for us. Without a fire near our tent we were able to enjoy the amazing views of the stars! Overall we had a nice experience and would check out other Wander Camp locations when traveling in the future.

The host was very helpful and the tents were nice. There should be more bathroom facilities.

Very underwhelming. The tents are spaced so close together that you can actually hear your neighbours farting. You can’t even have a campfire at your site because all 6 fire pits are near the entrance to the campground meaning you have to beat 49 other groups of campers just to have a fire, if you’re not lucky enough to secure a campfire or the one game of cornhole then you have nothing to after dark but sit in silence. For the price you pay, you would think you at least get a space heater to heat the tent which gets near freezing at night, but instead all you get is one dimly lit lantern, we just used our dollar tree ones cause they were brighter. There were also stains on our bedsheets. On the bright site, there are four showers and toilets near the campground entrance (not directly in the “accommodations” like the ad suggested) which you can wait in line for in the morning, however, the bathrooms are just one toilet about a foot away from the showers, and the showers only run when you hold the frayed and soggy rope. We were supposed to stay here for two nights, but we were so underwhelmed that we just ate the money and camped on BLM land in the Kaibob forest the second night which proved to be a more enjoyable experience and was free. I was hesitant to contact the camp host as I’ve read numerous reviews claiming the owner offered incentives such as free space heaters or refunds for positive reviews. The guy who checked us in seemed nice though.

for the size of the camp, three running showers is way too little and there should at least a couple or more locations for bathroom. The tents are fine as well as the bedding is of good quality.

There was no water for cleaning/showering for the entirety of our stay. The food that was advertised as being available on site was closed for the duration of our stay. The noise from the old, incredibly loud generator was intrusive and once finally shut off at 22:00, another one near by started up and ran until around midnight. I contacted the owns to enquire about a refund, partial or otherwise, and was told no. I’ve received no further communication from them despite trying. This accommodation is advertised as ‘glamping’ - it is not! It is camping in a noisy big tent with no water or food!!

I would definitely come back to Wander Camp! The staff was super friendly and the food truck was amazing (it's there from morning till late evening). We got there around 8pm and it was pitch dark outside so we had no idea what the landscape looked like. When we woke up in the morning - beautiful! It's a very secluded area literally in the middle of the high desert. The dirt road is pretty rough but doable if you're going slow enough. About a 20 min drive to the Grand Canyon. The beds and blankets were VERY clean and comfy. In mid-April it got to about 30 degrees at night. They offer portable heaters for rent if you want. I appreciated their bathroom facility; I've been to a lot of camp sites, trust me, this was great compared to a lot of others I've seen. Great location, great hosts, great accomodations.

This is not glamping. Iwas under the impression that my tent was built on a platform with a sink inside it . When I arrived I realIze it was just a basic tent with nice cots. You had to walk to the bathrooms and makeshift showers. This is definitely just camping. It’s five miles off the highway on a dirt road that is moderately maintained. There is not food for 10 miles , so make sure you eat before you get there and bring anything you may need including water to drink and towels. Also I thought it was ridiculous that they charged for firewood . Altogether the cots were fairly comfortable, The tent rug and floor were not clean. It had rained before arrival and there was some water on the floor of the tent at the doorway. This is definitely expensive tent camping. I would have rather spent this money on a nice hotel. Being from MN and having camped many times it didn’t bring me much joy. I can see for a lot of the Europeans that have never camped or don’t understand why Americans camp could find this a unique experience.

Toilets were smelling a lot No one was present in the morning at the small shop for breakfast But very nice stay and place.

Tent was much smaller than shown in the ad. Portapoti was way past full. My cot/bed was not level which made for a terrible nights rest. Spiders in the tent had my wife freaked out. Worst part was the tiny tent.

Cold and filthy

Beds were super comfy and the linens and yurt were extremely clean and cozy. The bathrooms and shower could have used attention and it smelled like the septic could have been dumped sooner than later.

This was a tent without electricity or running water in the tent. We thought it was very clean and very comfortable. Our only concern the porta potty (Sunday night Monday morning) was extremely full and could’ve used cleaning “at least” one day earlier. Maybe Friday before a busy weekend. But we did love hearing the coyotes howling at night. Really!!!! Great fun.

We stayed for one night as part of a road trip, my other half is not a fan of camping and he thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Bathroom facilities were clean and in full working order, friendly host on arrival, tent was spotless inside and the memory foam mattress and all the bedding was so comfy and cosy and kept us the perfect temperature. It was amazing to see all the stars and the milky way so clearly and hear the coyotes in the morning!

The tent had the beds set up.. the bathroom and showers were awful. One of the showers u had to hold the string the whole time while showering.. and the smell.. the smell was horrible

Sadly, after driving 30 miles away from Food and on long dirt roads, we came to discover that the food truck was closed and wasn’t going to be open for a few days. We now have to drive back on the long dirt road find food and do it all over again in the morning because there was no coffee at the food truck. The bathroom that is shown in the picture is not the bathroom that everyone else uses. Felt like I was being deceived by the photos. After the long 30 minute drive two times on the dirt road to get food we came back to a scorpion in the tent to greet us as well… Lol. One of our lanterns did not work, and my bed was a little wobbly. Please note that if it’s a full moon, you’re not going to see very many stars at all. And you may wanna bring your own chairs to sit out front because apparently those are not included felt like we were stuck in the tent. If you bring your own food, you have to take it to a picnic area because you are not supposed to have any food in your tent or near your tent. It would’ve been great to get a text about the food truck being closed so we could’ve prepared better and ate dinner on the way and maybe brought an iced coffee for the morning. Would’ve also been great to have been compensated for the hours lost because of lack of communication :/ the lady was nice at the front, but she said she had only been working three days and honestly was nice, but didn’t seem to have solutions :/

Was a wonderful experience. The only thing I was worried about was being cold since it dropped down to the mid 30's but the warm and comfort of the blankets provided really did it's job!

My only complaint and reason I won't stay again is because of how close the campsites are to each other. There's one road through the property that cars of other campers drive through at all hours of the night and light up your tent while you're trying to sleep. The people staying in the tent next to me arrived around 1 a.m. and slammed their car doors, waking me up. It's a nice idea for an affordable option to stay near the Grand Canyon. I would suggest making one designated parking area at the entrance to camp and requiring campers to otherwise only walk through camp.

Such a lovely and cool place to stay! The bed was one of the comfiest I’ve ever slept in and despite being chilly outside, we were cozy. Night sky is amazing, host was helpful, had everything you need and nothing you don’t. Would highly recommend and stay again :)

Absolutely loved my stay. I wasn't ready for the no lights/power tent, but I was glad, it made it even memorable. I think there was a complementary sort of solar charger which I found outside the tent though it wasn't working so I was using the car charger a lot for my phone and watch. Best part is the quiet and starry nights. Wish the camp would instruct drivers to dim their lights, especially when they are parked in from of your face as you try to relax outside of your tent at night. Other than that it was great. Would do it again

Our stay at Wander Camp Grand Canyon was unforgettable. The tents were spacious, comfortable, and had that perfect mix of rustic charm with just enough modern touches to make it relaxing. Waking up to the sunrise in the wide open desert was absolutely breathtaking. The staff went out of their way to be welcoming and helpful, making sure we had everything we needed. At night, sitting under the stars by the fire felt magical and gave us the kind of peace you just cannot find in a regular hotel. If you want an experience that feels adventurous yet comfortable, this is the place.

We really enjoyed camping here! We wanted to camp for part of our visit but didn’t want to bring all of our gear, so having a big tent and comfortable beds and bedding was perfect! There were fire pits and a great community feel the night we were there, with folks sharing marshmallows and stargazing together. There wasn’t wifi but we had good cell service for data. Make no mistake- you are camping, so if that’s the experience you want, this is a great place! Previous reviews suggest some people were disappointed, but it’s an upgraded camping experience for sure. It was cold at night, but the blankets kept us warm. In the AM I could hear others driving out and the early sun warmed the tent up quickly so we woke up early, but the night was peaceful and we slept well.

I loved how there is no electricity and everything ran off solar. Everything had to be brought in, including the water. You could still get phone service but that was all. I would recommend putting the phone down because everything around you is just beautiful. The yurts were the oerfect size and super comfortable. We added our sleeping bag to the already provided comforter and fuzzy blanket to ensure we were warm enough. They do have heaters to rent but we didn't want one. They do have a food truck for breakfast and dinner. We chose to make it food on the many fire pits. The night sky was magical. There were so many stars and you could get a tiny glimpse of the milky way. It was so beautiful. I would 100% recommend.

Jacob and Kitty were truly amazing, they were so welcoming and easy to talk to. They made us feel very welcome and appreciated. On our first Night There was a Quick storm (lasted about an hour at most) they invited us into their camper during the storm and they tolk Care of another guest who was affraid of the thunder. 10/10 from us, definently recomending this place. We also met Adam, he was also brilliant. So all in all, lovely glamping experience - made even better by amazing personel

Checked in, but after returning from dinner, another guest had deposited bags in our tent. Informed camp employee who would not check his list to work out who it was to contact them, and simply said we’d have to wait until they arrived back and he wouldn’t move their belongings out to their correct tent. Eventually sorted it ourselves without any help. Employee more interested in selling his wood than helping us. Beds uncomfortable and no extra bedding even though desert got down to freezing in the night. 55 tents, so +100 people and 4 communal toilets and showers, some of which were out of order. A horrid camp, ran to the bare bones and with hopelessly inadequate management.

We showed up and was met at the gate by a man that said the hotel was closed and not accepting guests. I had filled in the pre-checkin form the day before, very poor communication no notification that they were closed. We had to book at a different hotel for a few hundred dollars more. The refund policy was difficult but I did get a refund. Very difficult to communicate they did not answer emails or phone calls and the voicemail was full.

We were prepared for being off the grid, but we were less prepared for the 3 mile drive down a rough dirt road. Once there, everything was great. Tent roomy. Sunset beautiful. Starry skies fantastic. The food truck was not operating, but we'd been notified earlier in the day and were able to bring it own food.

I think they should put signs to make it easier for the customer when they arrive to be able to guide themselves well on where to turn left or right and to get there there is not much information on signs.Overall it’s nice

This is exactly what I expected. The property is confusing to find but trust the GPS and you should be fine. The road is a wash board road so we saw a car or two with blown tires. Overall a great option for glamping! Would do again!

Wow, what an amazing campsite, never seen the night sky so alive, fantastic setup with pleasant and helpful staff. We will be back again to see that night sky in all its glory. Be careful when you turn off the main road as the dirt track leading to the camp just off the highway is quite a rough terrain especially when you only have a small car

Great stay! It was a little hard to get to in the dark. Signs on the direction of the camo were completely non-existent. Camp was down a completely unmarked dirt road. The camp itself was clean and fun. Just hard to find.

35 minutes away from the grand canyon

We arrived after dark and worried we were lost but it was exactly as described.

Bed being up against tent wall made bed short for tall people to sleep. Far from main roads and roads to camp are unkept. Definitely worth the money for the experience!

You should know that there is no breakfast offered here despite what it says on expedia. It would have been nice to know that in advance, but otherwise was a great stay. Staff was friendly, the tents are as depicted, and it was great alternative to camping.

Welcome woman Susan was amazing- really friendly and knowledgeable. Only issue is that there is no signage on the main Rd so it was difficult to find and the food truck was not open. Would have been nice to be informed of this prior as we were not prepared with alternative food/drinks. Also there was no facility to boil water for tea or coffee. There is a servo close buy abut they don’t have much.

Altogether great experience except diner which is temporarily not available. This should have been published during the registration process, so we would have had diner earlier before our check-in in the late evening.

Wander camp was pretty spectacular when it came to seeing the stars! The camp host, Will, was very friendly and helpful with information. The drawback for me was the lack of food. According to the website there was supposed to be a food truck for meals. No food truck so we had to drive quite a ways to get food. We should at least be able to purchase like a breakfast sandwich. Also there were no group activities as explained on the website. That said, the tents were clean and the beds comfortable, and I can't recall seeing the stars so bright!

No meal options with little to no notice. Showers could’ve been more user friendly. Everything else was fantastic! Views were unbelievable!

Beautiful stargazing and kind staff. Food truck on site serving great burgers made it easy to come home in the dark after a full day at the canyon and eat well. A refreshing break from cheap motels with a view of the night sky that gave the main attraction down the road a run for its money.

Well maintained with very cozy tents and comfy beds. Very warm and friendly staff. Deduction of points for the missing breakfast option (despite being advertised on Expedia).

Everything was great other than no food. We planned on eating the burgers for dinner and the breakfast the next morning. We did not bring food with us because of that. Weather or lack of patrons at the park were not factors. The decision of no food was made early and after we checked in. Had to scramble and eat food from the gas station. Again, other than the food issue, it was a great experience and a lot of fun. The night sky was incredible.
