It is a former cabin that has been very nicely renovated. It has charm with a fireplace and a porch. The kitchen is great, but in addition, it has everything you can imagine! The washer and dryer are great. Beach towels are included and are stored separately from the bath towels. There is a firepit, paddleboat, grill, beach toys. The beach is 150 yards from the cottage. Everything is easy! Show up, bring your bags, and you are all set. The host is very easy to deal with. I forgot my key one day and there was a new one there within a half hour. Very nice people who are very easy to deal with. They understand customer service. We lived there almost two months. If we have another job in the area, we will surely try to lease this property again.

The biggest problem we had was the property description on VRBO was not accurate. Instead of 3 queen size beds a futon and a spa tub, the property had 2 full size beds and 2 full size futons and a small shower. However, as you read through the description you noticed this. Once I informed the owner of the inaccuracy, it was corrected quickly. The place was clean. It is definitely a cottage style inside. The furniture in the common area with the TV was not very comfortable because the cushions were so thin, but the cushions in the fireplace room were newer. The doors on the 2 bedrooms would not latch closed and would stay open just a crack. The shower, was perfectly functional but small. There are plenty of plates and silverware but no dishwasher so you have to wash it all by hand. No biggie for us, but thought I should mention it. We were in town for a wedding and did not attempt to use the lake or look at the availability of the water toys. As far as the neighborhood goes, there are quite a few signs all around that are anti short term renting like VRBO. Again, we never tried to use any of the neighborhood common areas and had no contact with anyone from the neighborhood. It suited our needs if only barely. If you bring some kayaks or use the lake there in the summer, it could be a nice vacation.

Couldn’t have asked for a more accommodating host. Cottage was very clean and comfortable. View of lake and canal in back.

The property itself is great, but in desperate need of a renovation. That’s not my biggest issue. The biggest problem is that VRBO’s are not welcome at Fox Point 1. There are signs everywhere stating VRBOs are not allowed at the lake or park. The people in the neighborhood shouted “Private Beach” at us while we were there. I feel if this had been disclosed in the description it would have affected my decision to rent here. It was not a relaxing experience. That’s why 3 stars.
