This was our first time staying at Carter Caves and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Every staff member was kind and helpful. Our upper floor room was very quiet and clean. We ate at the lodge restaurant four times and each time the food was delicious. The waitresses were wonderful. These girls were too short-staffed, but they really busted their humps and provided excellent service. Even the hostess had to jump in and help and she was excellent as well. We did have to wait a little bit for food to be prepared, but that didn't bother us. We're retired now! Time doesn't matter! We're supposed to be taking time to slow down and smell the roses at this point! The only things that were negatives was that there is no elevator to the second floor rooms. It's an old lodge and we understand. We're not spring chickens anymore and steps are difficult. The girl at the desk did offer to change our room to the bottom floor, but we chose to keep our assigned room upstairs because it would be more quiet. Also, some of the floors are noisy. My husband walks heavy in the heels and I had to keep reminding him to walk more quietly for the poor people downstairs. The floor in the entry way of our room really vibrated when we walked on it, so I worried about the people underneath us. Also, the wooden walkway outside in front of the rooms was very noisy to walk on. I was worried that it would wake me up if people were walking on it outside while I was sleeping, but this was not an issue.

Was a nice place to stay,. Cassandra at the desk in the lodge was amazing!! I love this is part of the park, excellent pool, excellent restaurant. The people that work for the park were wonderful.

Requested a room on upper level, they made it happen! Clean, quiet, nice little deck. Close to everything at Carter caves. Swimming pool included with stay! Kids and I are having a blast. Only complaint is that the Toilet seat could use replacing. Very very old.

Beautiful landscaping. Disappointed no pool adjacent to the lodge. Be sure to let Cave ticket salesperson know the AGES of your children. I pointed out the baby in the stroller and was still charged for child fee and they refused the refund.

Stayed at the lodge- tierney cavern restaurant service was nice but slow at times. Loved the pet friendly room we had. Putt putt golf course needed extensive work. Extremely poor course. Everything else was nice.

Worth going off the beaten path for this nice stay! Large, affordable, squeaky, clean room with view of the woods. Right next disc golf course which made for a lovely walk after a long drive. And, pet friendly for an additional $30 per stay. I’d like to come back when I have more time to explore. Internet worked just fine.

Stayed at lodge, loved the front door porch area and back door semi-private porch area overlooking forest. Room was clean, had direct tv, and good wifi. Has a restaurant, i ate at buffet every day. Food and deserts were very good. Lodge is somewhat close to the lake its a short hike from lodge with option to see Smokey arch( land bridge) from below or above. Caught small bass on small beetlespin. I opted for text notifications which kept me updated with cave tours, restaurant hours, and anything i might have requested. I did the x cave tour, which surpassed my expectations, very enjoyable. Note: if staying at lodge there is no elevator for access to top floor rooms. It didnt effect me. Was happy I was in top floor for lodge is wooden and the floors are a little creaky which i think adds to the coolness if the lodge. Enjoyed my stay, would stay again.

First time stay at lodge and entry to park. Absolutely beautiful and meandering. The lodge room had a balcony with a nice view into the woods. The room itself was clean with the exception of some mold in the bathroom. Needs new mattress. Noticed a big fenced lot for dogs nearby. Plenty of trails and caves to explore. Will be back when we have more time.

If you are into enjoying the outdoors. This is the place to stay! Wooded trails right outside the door, caves to your and explore and lovely cascading waterways to enjoy. The accommodations are somewhat spartan, but getting away to a simpler place is what this is all about. The room’s balcony overlooks the forest and is a nice place to relax. The room, bedding and linens were very clean. Only negatives were that the mattress was old so it had two noticeable dents on the sides with a ridge down the middle where hundreds of guests had slept before. Several lights were burned out but I’m sure if I was staying longer they would have fixed this. Limited TV options, but if you’re staying here it is to get away from all that anyway. I would definitely come back and stay here to do more exploring.

Stayed at the lodge with only a handful of other guests, being in the off season. Birthday adventure weekend! Our room was a king, nicely furnished and clean with small balcony behind to view sunsets. It had everything save a microwave. The lodge features a dining room and cozy great room with wood fired fireplace, staff is very friendly. While at the park we hit trails and toured a few caves though the area boasts of several of each. Natural bridges too, which are always a neat sight, especially large ones. If you enjoy Red River Gorge, you will definitely enjoy Carter 🙂.

My wife and had never been to Carter Caves and wanted to give it a try on Labor day weekend. The staff at the resort were very friendly and helpful. We had an issue with a broken switch for the fan in the bathroom. Even though we let them know that we weren't concerned about it they still asked if maintenance could come in to fix it as long as it wasn't going to interfere with our time. The maintenance man was very polite and was able to change the switch out in a short amount of time. The room was a little dated, especially the bathroom, but everything was clean feeling. The towels and bed linens all felt fresh and clean. The bed was very comfortable and we enjoyed having a balcony to enjoy the fresh air. We weren't impressed with the restaurant at the lodge. The food wasn't bad but after 4:00 pm we only had the option of eating the buffet when all we wanted was something smaller to eat that didn't cost as much as the buffet. At the time we just decided to give it a try, but next time we visit we'll just have to drive a little to find another restaurant that offers different options. Overall we enjoyed our stay at the lodge and enjoyed the scenery on the trails.

It was a nice room, the only downfall was the A/C unit kept messing up so it got very hot in the room, when I called the front desk they did immediately send someone and they did fix the issue; but then all nite the unit made this horrible noise everytime it kicked on. Other then that it was nice

We were accused of leaving burn holes in the sheets and charged $250. There was never a lit cigarette in the room so that is a lie. Speaking with customer service did no good. I feel like it’s just another way to rob the customer. I am very upset at the accusation and won’t revisit or recommend to friends.

One night family stay while passing through. The pool was amazing, the caves were beautiful. When we got back to our room the air conditioner was not working. The staff at the front desk came right away and did her magic and it started cooling off right away. We will definitely be back for a longer stay.

I reserved a pet friendly room and no where did it say anything on hotels.com that there was a $30 added pet fee but I was charged it anyway. When I checked out the manager said it was there and showed me but I would have seen it the way it’s right next to pet friendly by room name. I’m sure she went in and added it before I spoke with her.

This place was perfect for our stay to explore Carter caves state park! We were looking for something close and convenient to hit the trails and this place was it! You stay in the center of all the trails so we were able to very easily access all of them! Staff was wonderful, very kind and helpful. The rooms were very pleasant to stay in as well. I will for sure be coming back in the future 👍

We found this by accident on our way through. Best find ever! Absolutely incredible, the accommodations were amazing The View and the scenery were amazing access to the trails caves all of it!

It’s a pretty drive to get to the lodge. Trails to walk on. It is an older lodge but it’s clean and well kept. Our room had a balcony that looked out into the forest.

This was our first time staying at Carter Caves and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Every staff member was kind and helpful. Our upper floor room was very quiet and clean. We ate at the lodge restaurant four times and each time the food was delicious. The waitresses were wonderful. These girls were too short-staffed, but they really busted their humps and provided excellent service. Even the hostess had to jump in and help and she was excellent as well. We did have to wait a little bit for food to be prepared, but that didn't bother us. We're retired now! Time doesn't matter! We're supposed to be taking time to slow down and smell the roses at this point! The only things that were negatives was that there is no elevator to the second floor rooms. It's an old lodge and we understand. We're not spring chickens anymore and steps are difficult. The girl at the desk did offer to change our room to the bottom floor, but we chose to keep our assigned room upstairs because it would be more quiet. Also, some of the floors are noisy. My husband walks heavy in the heels and I had to keep reminding him to walk more quietly for the poor people downstairs. The floor in the entry way of our room really vibrated when we walked on it, so I worried about the people underneath us. Also, the wooden walkway outside in front of the rooms was very noisy to walk on. I was worried that it would wake me up if people were walking on it outside while I was sleeping, but this was not an issue.

The lodge and the room were exceptional. But... Whatever you do. DO NOT EAT AT THE LODGE RESTAURANT! Worst food we ever ate. Worst service we ever had. They kept coming out telling us that they were out of items we ordered. The food was terrible and cold. Or really burnt and still cold. We were there over 2 hours. It was really terrible.
