We had the most relaxing time with a beautiful view. Lara’s attention to detail in the house made us feel like we were at home…without the stress! She even checked in by text to make sure we got in and everything was ok.Hot tub with an incredible view of the valley and sunset. Clean, updated, with all the amenities. Multiple feeders and native brush attracted all kinds of birds. We definitely hope to go back and stay longer!

This house is so well appointed. The kitchen is very well stocked, beds were very comfortable and the view is stunning! The fire outside and the hot tub were wonderful additions. Lara was an amazing, very responsive host - highly recommend staying in this beautiful home!

If you are intrigued by the photos and description of The Bluebird Retreat, the place is even better in person! Such a quiet, secluded sanctuary with breathtaking views. The cottage was so well appointed- Lara has thought of everything. We used it as a home base while we enjoyed hiking in the area. It is spotless and comfortable. This is a beautiful property! The farmhouse style fits this house. From the high end finishes inside to the beautiful porch ambiance outside. We enjoyed the hot tub and the media room nightly.

First, this is a rare find--dozens of reviews--ALL a perfect 5-star score. Well deserved! We sarrived late after a 900 mile drive to find the lights on and as warm home waiting for us. We settled in and ate the dinner we picked up at Albertson's then sat in the Jacuzzi. The instructions on the treating were simple to understand and the idea that it is being treated after every use reassured us that it was crystal clean! The fire pit was a nice addition as well. The kitchen was well appointed and well stocked. The owner made it clear that any leftovers in the fridge or cabinets were free for the taking, and the girls enjoyed S'Mores over the firepit (roasting prongs provided too!) The bedrooms were clean and comfortable with lots of hangars and both luggage rack and shelving in the closet to hold smaller items. The living room was appropriated by my second daughter who slept on the couch the two nights she was with us, but otherwise it too was a warm and inviting room with a huge TV and desk space for computer work. The bathroom had a walk-in shower with dual sprays and it too was spotless. There was a minor user-error glitch with the fire pit that the owner was super responsive to and they were addressed quickly. The only negative, if you could call it that, was that also we saw the deer, the turkeys never came up to the window to say good morning. Missed seeing them. If you have reason to be in Ramona, this is the place to stay!

We spent a week at the Bluebird Retreat while visiting our son and daughter-in-law who live nearby. Lara’s home really felt like home away from home. We had some rainy days, and my daughter-in-law took advantage of the wonderfully stocked kitchen to treat us to some special meals. On a warmer evening, we roasted hot dogs over the fire pit while watching the sunset. The whole house is welcoming and great for relaxing and just hanging out. We especially enjoyed sunrises watching the birds and sunsets in the hot tub. I had a few questions, and Lara was easy to communicate with. We know where we’ll be staying next time we visit the kids. Spent an amazing 4 nights at this incredibly beautiful property! Upon arrival you are blown away by the incredible views and the floral smells coming off the patio! Everything to do with this property is top notch! Beds and pillows are very comfortable. Loved sitting in the jacuzzi after a day of sightseeing/hiking and just relaxing. Lara has thought of everything you could possibly need (including marshmallow sticks for the firepit)! Would definitely book this property again if we were in this area again.

Of all the vacation homes I've stayed at, this one by far is one of the best. Upon entering, the first thing I could not help but notice was how well the house looked maintained. Every window was sparkling clean and everything was in good working condition. The kitchen was well stocked and had plenty of counter top space for cooking. The house is beautifully decorated and so very comfortable. The views are beyond amazing. Bring binoculars!!!!! I saw lots of deer roaming around. At night, I would sit out on the patio in the dark and stare at the starry sky. The feeling of stillness and calmness is very noticeable because It's incredibly quiet. No city noise or lights. For fun, I walked from the house down to CA-78. Round trip was about 2.5 miles. Along the way you'll see great views of the lake and you'll pass several working ranches. I saw horses, buffaloes, mules, and turkeys. While I was there, the Santa Ana winds hit hard. The wind is no joke in this area. The homeowner notified me that the power was going to be turned off as a fire precaution. I was so grateful to hear that they not only had back up battery power and they also had a generator as backup for such situations. Now that's what I call a Wisdom Win. They continued to keep me updated and made sure I was comfortable. I'll definitely be coming back to visit a magical place!!!!

We like to stay away from the hustle and bustle when we travel and The Bluebird Retreat fit the bill. The host was easy and quick to communicate. The house was clean and comfortable. This was our first trip to San Diego. Loved it! We debated staying out aways but we are so happy we did. 45min or so from most attractions. The home is so beautiful, peaceful and cozy. The inside is so clean and welcoming. The outside is picture book. Evenings in the hot tub with seemingly infinite stars and daytime views of the mountains, lake and birds. The home was such a comfortable place to return to after the hustle and bustle of the days. We would love to come back to the area, and if so, this is where we would choose to stay……hands down. Thank you!

The property was just as described. We chose this location to get away from noise and fireworks because our dog is afraid of them, so this was perfect for us. Totally silent at night with an amazing view of the stars. The house is immaculate and had everything we needed.

Lara’s property was exactly as described in the listing, and as described by previous guests. My sister and I both agreed we could live in it as our primary residence and be very happy! The view. The wildlife (yes, they showed up). The house itself (especially that shower). The hot tub. The little things- things you might not even think of yourself. It really was perfection!

Beautiful property - we actually canceled our plans one day because it was just too lovely to stay at the house, watch the birds, sip a glass of wine, and relax. Immaculate, cozy, and stunning view. Hosts were easily accessible for any questions. I hope we are able to come back soon!

We came to Ramona for a wedding and decided to stay a little longer for a mini-vacay. I didn't realize the pics in the description were actually take from the property so we were blown away by how beautiful and peaceful it was. The kids loved the hot tub and the outside shower was perfect coming back from a beach day. The host was very responsive with communication. We'd def recommend!

The home is very lovely with a lot of space!! The birds in the area were lovely to see throughout the day and we even got visited by a family of grounds squirrels who came to the back porch and laid about. This is one of the best places we stayed in. I would highly recommend to anyone who wants some time alone with their family or want a place were time just stands still.

The view from this home is stunning (even during the hail and rain storms we had), and the house is comfortable and clean. It is a new home set into a rugged rocky landscape, there are no fences but we found the rules around where to not to go a little confusing so we walked on the road (the road to the lake is lovely to walk). The house has a nice kitchen (With an island bar for a table) and lovely bathroom (with 2 person shower which my daughter loved!). The bedrooms are small but comfy. The living room is in what seems to be a converted garage - it is large and comfortable (with a very comfortable reclining sofa! ) but not a lot of widows (if the garage door had more windows the view from there would be stunning). The patio is nice and the hot tub wonderful - with sweeping views of the mountains. It is good to note that it is up a VERY STEEP hill off the road in.

We had the most relaxing time with a beautiful view. Lara’s attention to detail in the house made us feel like we were at home…without the stress! She even checked in by text to make sure we got in and everything was ok.Hot tub with an incredible view of the valley and sunset. Clean, updated, with all the amenities. Multiple feeders and native brush attracted all kinds of birds. We definitely hope to go back and stay longer!

We like to stay away from the hustle and bustle when we travel and The Bluebird Retreat fit the bill. The host was easy and quick to communicate. The house was clean and comfortable. If you are intrigued by the photos and description of The Bluebird Retreat, the place is even better in person! Such a quiet, secluded sanctuary with breathtaking views. The cottage was so well appointed- Lara has thought of everything. We used it as a home base while we enjoyed hiking in the area. It is spotless and comfortable. First, this is a rare find--dozens of reviews--ALL a perfect 5-star score. Well deserved! We sarrived late after a 900 mile drive to find the lights on and as warm home waiting for us. We settled in and ate the dinner we picked up at Albertson's then sat in the Jacuzzi. The instructions on the treating were simple to understand and the idea that it is being treated after every use reassured us that it was crystal clean! The fire pit was a nice addition as well. The kitchen was well appointed and well stocked. The owner made it clear that any leftovers in the fridge or cabinets were free for the taking, and the girls enjoyed S'Mores over the firepit (roasting prongs provided too!) The bedrooms were clean and comfortable with lots of hangars and both luggage rack and shelving in the closet to hold smaller items. The living room was appropriated by my second daughter who slept on the couch the two nights she was with us, but otherwise it too was a warm and inviting room with a huge TV and desk space for computer work. The bathroom had a walk-in shower with dual sprays and it too was spotless. There was a minor user-error glitch with the fire pit that the owner was super responsive to and they were addressed quickly. The only negative, if you could call it that, was that also we saw the deer, the turkeys never came up to the window to say good morning. Missed seeing them. If you have reason to be in Ramona, this is the place to stay!

Very well kept home with spectacular view from the hot tub. Really felt like we were away from it all. Very quiet and private and hope to return soon. Beds were very comfortable and they had everything I could think of. We had a wonderful stay and we were quite comfortable in Lara’s home. She was attentive but respectful of our privacy.

We spent a week at the Bluebird Retreat while visiting our son and daughter-in-law who live nearby. Lara’s home really felt like home away from home. We had some rainy days, and my daughter-in-law took advantage of the wonderfully stocked kitchen to treat us to some special meals. On a warmer evening, we roasted hot dogs over the fire pit while watching the sunset. The whole house is welcoming and great for relaxing and just hanging out. We especially enjoyed sunrises watching the birds and sunsets in the hot tub. I had a few questions, and Lara was easy to communicate with. We know where we’ll be staying next time we visit the kids. This was our first trip to San Diego. Loved it! We debated staying out aways but we are so happy we did. 45min or so from most attractions. The home is so beautiful, peaceful and cozy. The inside is so clean and welcoming. The outside is picture book. Evenings in the hot tub with seemingly infinite stars and daytime views of the mountains, lake and birds. The home was such a comfortable place to return to after the hustle and bustle of the days. We would love to come back to the area, and if so, this is where we would choose to stay……hands down. Thank you!

Beautiful property with fantastic amenities. We played golf in San Diego by day and enjoyed some R&R at the house by night. Would definitely stay again to experience the wineries and outdoor activities in the area. Had a chance to venture to nearby Julian, CA on night one and enjoyed some delicious food and drink. Would absolutely recommend this experience, particularly for outdoor lovers and those looking to get away from the chaos of the city

This is our fourth time staying and as always we had an amazing time. We absolutely love this property, it is absolutely breathtaking and serene. We enjoyed cooking dinners as a family, watching sunsets from the spa, and s’mores by the fire. Local wineries are welcoming and quaint and the San Diego Wild Animal park is just a short scenic drive away. Our family always looks forward to our vacation here. Can’t wait to come back!

Many of the reviews say that the pictures don't do the property justice -and they are exactly right. The views, the amenities, the linens - everything was beyond perfect. It is a short drive to Ramona, but if you are looking for an urban adventure, this is not the place. We spent hours just watching the array of birds that came to the feeders. We felt like we had found the perfect mountain hideaway. I'm honestly at a loss to even think of a way to improve the stay.

We loved stargazing and bird watching at this beautiful property overlooking Lake Sutherland. The hot tub is the perfect place to do both! Great location for hiking and wine tasting. Most well appointed kitchen for a vacation rental...easy to cook in and enjoy the lovely kitchen. Highly recommend for a quiet getaway.

Beautiful property - we actually canceled our plans one day because it was just too lovely to stay at the house, watch the birds, sip a glass of wine, and relax. Immaculate, cozy, and stunning view. Hosts were easily accessible for any questions. I hope we are able to come back soon!

We made a late booking after seeing a promising weather forecast that suggested clear skies for star-gazing. The autonomy was better than anticipated and so was this property. The house is clean, well-stocked and situated on a hill overlooking abundant wildlife and lakeside views. An abundantly stocked set of bird feeders ensure countless colorful visitors with more birds at play than I've seen in a long time. The property would accommodate 4 people but there were two in our party, plus the pup. As a cook, I welcomed the pantry having almost everything you might need for home cooking and the pots, pans and plates were spotless. The heated spa was an unexpected bonus. It is advertised but I've become used to photos and promotions not always living up to how they look online. Here the photos don't do justice to the hot tub or, indeed, the home itself. Looking forward to a repeat visit and highly recommended.

This is our fourth time staying and as always we had an amazing time. We absolutely love this property, it is absolutely breathtaking and serene. We enjoyed cooking dinners as a family, watching sunsets from the spa, and s’mores by the fire. Local wineries are welcoming and quaint and the San Diego Wild Animal park is just a short scenic drive away. Our family always looks forward to our vacation here. Can’t wait to come back!

The view from this home is stunning (even during the hail and rain storms we had), and the house is comfortable and clean. It is a new home set into a rugged rocky landscape, there are no fences but we found the rules around where to not to go a little confusing so we walked on the road (the road to the lake is lovely to walk). The house has a nice kitchen (With an island bar for a table) and lovely bathroom (with 2 person shower which my daughter loved!). The bedrooms are small but comfy. The living room is in what seems to be a converted garage - it is large and comfortable (with a very comfortable reclining sofa! ) but not a lot of widows (if the garage door had more windows the view from there would be stunning). The patio is nice and the hot tub wonderful - with sweeping views of the mountains. It is good to note that it is up a VERY STEEP hill off the road in.

We loved stargazing and bird watching at this beautiful property overlooking Lake Sutherland. The hot tub is the perfect place to do both! Great location for hiking and wine tasting. Most well appointed kitchen for a vacation rental...easy to cook in and enjoy the lovely kitchen. Highly recommend for a quiet getaway.

This property is top of the line, and even better than advertised. The owners have spared no expense in making this a truly spectacular place for their guests, including a well-stocked kitchen, extra blankets, soft memory-foam mattress, etc. Kudos to the cleaning crew for presenting a spotless welcome. The peace and tranquility of the location and view of the vistas, not to mention the wildlife that visited, made for a very relaxing stay. We didn't want to leave! We will definitely be back!
