This was my 3rd repeated visit to this property. It's location, cleanliness, adequate parking space and friendly staff has all contributed to my decision to come back again. People driving EV will be happy to know that they have 4 spots for charging. It has been my joy to stay here at Hyatt, Southern Village, Chapel Hill.

I like the convenience of the location, the parking lot area. I did not like that the pool was not open due to lack of safety inspection, I choose this hotel for the outdoor pool. Staff were not the most supportive.

The room we had on floor 2 was poorly put together. The sink shook every time we turned it on. We saw some bugs and were “upgraded” to floor 5. It was the same exact room but the bathroom sink didn’t shake. There was a bug in that room also.

This hotel was clean and up to date. Everything looks like it is taken care of. Love the little nooks where we saw two little kids watching TV, the bar area was very nice, a great breakfast was included with the options to use real plates or paper…. We would definitely stay here again! And no other hotel this road trip has been able to measure up!

Loved the location. I've stayed here many times previously in the past 5 years. But the hallway carpeting on the fourth floor is really worn to the point it's threadbare where the seams meet at numerous places in the hall, really giving it a dated look. Handtowel and washcloth were clearly dirty from someone having wiped their hands on it (and I was traveling alone and it wasn't me). I understand things like this happen, but for the amount of business this hotel gets on a regular basis you would think the carpeting would be replaced and updated.

Looked clean on line .. was dirty , broken glass in elevator, toothpaste on wall in bathroom , broken light shades, hair in bathroom. Dog howling, drunk man wondering halls. Literally they have ONE person working the entire hotel, she was very sweet, she makes drinks, serves food and checks you in. I left the hotel and hotels.com will not refund me .

We have stayed at Hyatt Place many times since it first opened. It’s clean & service is excellent but the hotel is showing its age. Desk light was malfunctioning, wall sconce lightbulb was out. We didn’t care for our room this time as it was small & dark but bed was comfortable & we weren’t in our room much.

My husband and I stayed for one night to get some rest since we had a long travel. The staff was very nice but as soon as we walked into the building it had an odd smell as if it was humid. We stayed on the third floor. The bed was not comfortable at all nor the pillows and it felt as if the AC did not work in the room. We brought the temperature down to the coolest and we still were hot. The room had just a musky humid odor to it that as clean as it looked, it still did not feel comfortable. It felt as if the AC filters have not been changed for a long time or the system needs to be serviced. I know I sound ridiculous 😂 but the room truly did not feel comfortable and just muggy so needless to say, we did not get the rest we hoped to continue on our travels but we checked out the next morning and if I need to get some rest, I will sleep better in my pickup truck. Once again, clean and great night staff but the bed was uncomfortable and the AC was just not working right. We both left with our noses stuffy.

Loved the arrangement of the room with the bed separated by a partial wall from a sitting area with a couch. Very comfortable bed. Breakfast was adequate having hot options such as French toast bacon and scrambled eggs as well as fruit, yogurt, and juices. Coffee was good.

The individuals behind the counter and near food bar were SO helpful and friendly. I’m an older woman and they helped me get my suitcase in the car, rekeyed my key, and brought my dog water. You have an especially competent and customer friendly staff. I came to go to the closing on a house here We’ll use Hyatt when our family visits.

This hotel is conveniently located close to UNC Med Ctr. However, my brothers surgery went very long, and when I arrived to check in there was NO ONE around. I checked thought the lobby level- I called the hotel, and nothing I was left stranded without a room at 4am!! The entire front desk was left unattended and their was access to all the food and beverages for purchase. The parking lot is very small and cannot accommodate all guests. While the property is clean, the lack of customer service is unacceptable

This was a normal hotel- not walking distance to chapel hill campus but convenient enough. I booked it because I thought we could walk over to the shopping complex right behind it for dinner, but there is no through walkway so we had to drive around. It was a sleepy area in the summer.

This hotel was perfectly located and was well staffed and clean as a whistle! Nice friendly staff and the complimentary breakfast was impressive and fresh. Felt like I was home and my hubby was cooking for me! I stay at alot of hotels that offer complimentary breakfast and it doesn't look like this one! Will be back!

They did away with daily room service. We were told to put our garbage outside our door to be picked up. I had to look for a cleaning cart in the hallway to get more towels tissues, etc. A written notice in our room said they only cleaned rooms every four days; ours was cleaned after two, which was a nice surprise, I guess. Breakfast was horrible: frozen breakfast food out of a microwave; soupy oatmeal; eggs that were weren't properly warmed; paper plates and bowls and plastic cutlery. If this was a budget hotel, it would have been OK, I guess, but for a Hyatt hotel charging Hyatt prices it was a disappointment. On the positive side, the cleaning staff were all very nice and the room was quiet.

This entire property was exceptional but for the breakfast. The staff closed the Monday breakfast at 8:30 am as opposed to 9:30 am. Additionally when we arrived at 8:00 am, there were several items. already out. The number of guests were known as was the check-out time. There was no excuse for breakfast items to be gone. There apologies were unacceptable.

This hotel was clean and up to date. Everything looks like it is taken care of. Love the little nooks where we saw two little kids watching TV, the bar area was very nice, a great breakfast was included with the options to use real plates or paper…. We would definitely stay here again! And no other hotel this road trip has been able to measure up!

Food at Hyatt Place Chapel Hill Southern Village was poor if not insulting especially when paying $450 per day!!! Goodness. The worst. Microwave junk pretending to be real food. Sort of where we are right now when paying for good properties like Hyatt and getting "small staffs" with "little services" and "poor food". A race to the bottom. Very disappointed that this is a Hyatt Property. Also you had overbooked for for this weekend last night but there was no game today in Chapel HIll. I notified you numerous times by email and told the Hotel when I arrived. They said "nothing we can do sir". No way to treat a loyal Hyatt customer. And the AI universe you have set up for us. Geez. Go travel yourselves. See what its like. Very disappointing. That's it. I am usually positive about these report backs but here uh uh. Nope.

A very nice hotel. The morning breakfast is OK. They’ve got fresh fruit and hot entrées. The choices are great for people, trying to maintain a healthy diet and also waffles, pancakes sausages and scrambled eggs for the kids.

Our room and the facility in general was very clean. Everyone was very helpful and since my husband was going to have a procedure at UNC Memorial Hospital, the staff was helpful with things that we needed to help him with his stay. The breakfast was nice and I think most people would like the breakfast. I had difficulty with the breakfast because I am on a low-carb no sugar diet, but I was able to eat eggs and fruit. Overall a very nice stay. We will stay there again.

The hotel seemed pretty new so everything was nice and clean. Good size room (2 beds), clean bathroom. Convenient to UNC Chapel Hill. Dining options right around the corner.

The staff was friendly and helpful! The room was okay. The mattress and pillows were very comfortable. The bathroom was nice and spacious. The shower handle bar seemed to be upside down and I was hurting myself on it. The room was outdated.and some parts seemed to fall apart. The restaurant isn’t a real restaurant. They serve sports bar food when one orders at the reception. No waiter, no ambience and actually a very uncomfortable feeling. The dirty carpet throughout this overpriced Hotel was disgusting. For over 200,-$ the night we have visited more pleasant Hotels. We will not return.
