Hidden away in the original wine village. Quiet and peaceful a decent drive to Pinhão on windey roads. Maria was incredibly helpful booking dinner and tastings at local quintas for us. Nothing was a problem. Property is new and impeccably clean, great pool and view. Great place for a peaceful break. Would definitely stay here again.

Just a beautiful location with a lovely setup. Breakfast is excellent. A good two day stay where you can visit wineries, relax in the pool and watch the sun set.

Stunning property in a quiet charming village. We were greeted with a beautiful glass of wine made from their vineyard - after a day of driving it felt like entering a true oasis. The pool was beautiful and so was the scenery it overlooked. Everything was taking care of, from dinner reservations at the restaurant in town one night to an in-house delicious option on our second night. Breakfast was delicious too. I only wish we could have stayed longer!

If you are looking for a vacation location that will refresh your soul, this beautiful vineyard getaway is the place for you! Set in the tiny Village of Provesende, this gorgeously renovated stone hotel overlooks the gentle rolling hills of the Douro Valley. The hotel and working vineyard have long been in the family of the charming Manager, Maria Pinheiro da Veiga. She was an absolute delight to talk with and gave generously of her time and knowledge of the surrounding tight-knit community. We were particularly interested in some peace and quiet after almost 3 weeks touring Italy and Portugal and we found this location a balm for our travel-weary souls. Avid bird watchers, we were entranced by the beauty and impressive variety of birds we could see and hear clearly as there was virtually no traffic sound at all. After we arrived, we sat and enjoyed the beautiful birds for 3 hours before we heard one motorbike drive by. It was sheer bliss! And so was the food! We had the best traditional Portuguese meal prepared on site by their wonderful chef and served to the melodious tunes of Fado over the sound system. They have a beautiful swimming pool, but it was still too chilly to do more than sit by the water and enjoy the fresh air and simple beauty of a place almost untouched by time. Five Stars aren’t enough!

The property was great for us. The hotel is well looked after. Our room was a good size and very nice. The lobby/reception area was very nice. We sat there a couple nights after dinner and enjoyed a nice glass of wine with a few other guests. Also a very nice pool area if you’re there in the warmer weather. Maria was very helpful and booked us a wine tasting and a river cruise. I would highly recommend this hotel. I would definitely stay there again.

This is by far the best place we stayed during our trip to Portugal. The place is absolutely beautiful! The host welcomed us and explain to us the history of the place. The room was very comfortable and beautifully decorated. We felt like being home. There is a pool and a vineyard in the backyard. The decor is modern and cozy. The parking is accessible and easy. It’s 25 minutes to the best vineyards and porto houses in Pignao.
This is by far the best place we stayed during our trip to Portugal. The place is absolutely beautiful! The host welcomed us and explain to us the history of the place. The room was very comfortable and beautifully decorated. We felt like being home. There is a pool and a vineyard in the backyard. The decor is modern and cozy. The parking is accessible and easy. It’s 25 minutes to the best vineyards and porto houses in Pignao.

Je recommande à tous sans hésitation!!

The property is extremely nice, with a great pool with a beautiful view! The staff were super nice and friendly. There was one evening where we decided to eat dinner at the hotel but we were past the cut off time. Despite that, the hotel staff still made us the salads that we wanted. The only downside, when we arrived, I lift up the toilet seat and that there were feces stains all under the toilet. You could tell they’ve been there for a while as when I was scrubbing it off i5 took some time. Other than that, the place was very clean.

Avendo girato il Portogallo per due settimane possiamo sicuramente dire che questa struttura è stata una delle migliori sotto tutti i punti di vista! Molto pulito (cosa rara), camera spaziosissima, personale super cortese e veloce (altra rarità). Consiglio vivamente questa struttura! Maria, la proprietaria, è una vera professionista dell’accoglienza, la migliore di tutta la vacanza!

Nous avons été reçu très bien. Excellent endroit, personnel affable, disponible et discret. S'il y a difficultés, la Direction de l'établissement prend action rapidement. Calme et que dire de la vue... OUFF !! Cet endroit est un véritable bijou. Je dois dire que c'est tout simplement parfait comme lieu.

Très bel hébergement avec une vue sur le vignoble dans un secteur tranquille. Les chambres sont grandes et confortable, bien insonorisé. Le personnel est très sympathique. Nous avons pris le souper sur place, c’était excellent. Et nous avons été surclassé. Je recommande fortement.

We had a most delightful two day stay at the Casa do Santo. Our wonderful host, Maria was full of local and historical knowledge and made us feel very welcome. Many generations of her family have tended the winery upon which this beautiful boutique hotel is built. Our room was spacious and very comfortable with beautiful views of the vineyards. Everything was first rate. The breakfast was outstanding and the hotel offers tapas and their very own fine wine in the evening. The hotel is located in a charming little village on the side of the valley with stunning views. You can literally hike from your room through the village down the side of the valley through ancient terraces with vineyards and olive groves. The trails leads down to the Douro River and should not be missed. Our stay was truly magical.

Our four night stay at Casa do Santo was FANTASTIC! The estate is beautiful, elegant and stylish, and Maria and her staff go out of their way to make you feel at home and to make you feel spoiled. The included breakfast was excellent, and so was the dinner that the estate offers upon request. Our room was spacious and lovely. The property has beautiful views of vineyards, and the tiny town in the gorgeous Douro Valley that it’s located in, Provesende, is charming. We hope to return, because Casa do Santo is an ABSOLUTE GEM!!!

Maria was an excellent host, very accommodating. We arrived the weekend they the town was hosting their annual festival. Roads in the area were closed off. When we called to say we were in the area she stayed on the phone with us and interpreted to the police that we were her guests and to let us pass through to get to her place. The property has amazing views. The town is in walking distance and very old high on a mountian.
Maria was an excellent host, very accommodating. We arrived the weekend they the town was hosting their annual festival. Roads in the area were closed off. When we called to say we were in the area she stayed on the phone with us and interpreted to the police that we were her guests and to let us pass through to get to her place. The property has amazing views. The town is in walking distance and very old high on a mountian.

Hidden away in the original wine village. Quiet and peaceful a decent drive to Pinhão on windey roads. Maria was incredibly helpful booking dinner and tastings at local quintas for us. Nothing was a problem. Property is new and impeccably clean, great pool and view. Great place for a peaceful break. Would definitely stay here again.

This was one of the most exceptional stays I’ve ever had (including five star hotels). Casa do Santo is a truly hidden gem and I’m lucky we got to experience it before it grows in popularity. Maria and the staff are so attentive, helpful and welcoming, and Barco (the property dog) is an added bonus! If you’re looking to stay in the Douro valley in a cute, quaint town and want something relaxing and stunning, I couldn’t recommend this place more.

The property was great for us. The hotel is well looked after. Our room was a good size and very nice. The lobby/reception area was very nice. We sat there a couple nights after dinner and enjoyed a nice glass of wine with a few other guests. Also a very nice pool area if you’re there in the warmer weather. Maria was very helpful and booked us a wine tasting and a river cruise. I would highly recommend this hotel. I would definitely stay there again.

Maria and her team made sure we were comfortable. We were welcomed with a Port wine from their winery. The breakfast was very good. It is a wonderful place to spend time relaxing. Maria was very helpful in recommending places to visit in the area and took care of our restaurant reservation. Would recommend it to everyone who wants to relax and feel special.

If you are looking for a vacation location that will refresh your soul, this beautiful vineyard getaway is the place for you! Set in the tiny Village of Provesende, this gorgeously renovated stone hotel overlooks the gentle rolling hills of the Douro Valley. The hotel and working vineyard have long been in the family of the charming Manager, Maria Pinheiro da Veiga. She was an absolute delight to talk with and gave generously of her time and knowledge of the surrounding tight-knit community. We were particularly interested in some peace and quiet after almost 3 weeks touring Italy and Portugal and we found this location a balm for our travel-weary souls. Avid bird watchers, we were entranced by the beauty and impressive variety of birds we could see and hear clearly as there was virtually no traffic sound at all. After we arrived, we sat and enjoyed the beautiful birds for 3 hours before we heard one motorbike drive by. It was sheer bliss! And so was the food! We had the best traditional Portuguese meal prepared on site by their wonderful chef and served to the melodious tunes of Fado over the sound system. They have a beautiful swimming pool, but it was still too chilly to do more than sit by the water and enjoy the fresh air and simple beauty of a place almost untouched by time. Five Stars aren’t enough!

Our four night stay at Casa do Santo was FANTASTIC! The estate is beautiful, elegant and stylish, and Maria and her staff go out of their way to make you feel at home and to make you feel spoiled. The included breakfast was excellent, and so was the dinner that the estate offers upon request. Our room was spacious and lovely. The property has beautiful views of vineyards, and the tiny town in the gorgeous Douro Valley that it’s located in, Provesende, is charming. a beautiful new quinta on a 350 year old farm/vineyard. You do not stay in the main family house but in a beautifully remodeled ruin that has so much charm. lovely breakfasts and delicious wines and tapas from their vineyard. beautiful room and view of the Douro Valley. We really enjoyed our two night stay in Douro especially because of Casa do Santo. just a few rooms so there is opportunity to visit with other guests of the quinta.

The property is extremely nice, with a great pool with a beautiful view! The staff were super nice and friendly. There was one evening where we decided to eat dinner at the hotel but we were past the cut off time. Despite that, the hotel staff still made us the salads that we wanted. The only downside, when we arrived, I lift up the toilet seat and that there were feces stains all under the toilet. You could tell they’ve been there for a while as when I was scrubbing it off i5 took some time. Other than that, the place was very clean.

The pool was beautiful and so was the scenery it overlooked. Everything was taking care of, from dinner reservations at the restaurant in town one night to an in-house delicious option on our second night. Breakfast was delicious too. I only wish we could have stayed longer!

We had a most delightful two day stay at the Casa do Santo. Our wonderful host, Maria was full of local and historical knowledge and made us feel very welcome. Many generations of her family have tended the winery upon which this beautiful boutique hotel is built. Our room was spacious and very comfortable with beautiful views of the vineyards. Everything was first rate. The breakfast was outstanding and the hotel offers tapas and their very own fine wine in the evening. The hotel is located in a charming little village on the side of the valley with stunning views. You can literally hike from your room through the village down the side of the valley through ancient terraces with vineyards and olive groves. The trails leads down to the Douro River and should not be missed. Our stay was truly magical.
