The house was very clean and well stocked with everything we could possibly need. Kids loved the ping pong table and spent most of their time in the pool. Would love to come back and do this trip again next year. Scott was an amazing host and quick to respond with any questions we had.

Nicely appointed rooms with a well-stocked kitchen that had spacious refrigerators, counters and dishwashers. Gorgeous pool area, lots of patios, and great views from every room. Be aware that the hillside design has multiple levels and a LOT of stairs.

Scott is a terrific host. The home was even decorated for Halloween. The furnishings are excellent, the cupboards well stocked, large flat yard, nice pool and game room. Ample parking for 4 to 6 cars, but no covered parking. Two dishwashers and two large refrigerators in the kitchen, plus a wine/bar refrig. There are several streaming tv's throughout the house and in the bedrooms.This is a very interesting house on 4 levels. Nice views from 3 levels of the house. There's seating for over 75 people throughout the house.

We were three generations: two grandparents, three married children & their spouses, six grandchildren. The house is huge & has great separation of spaces over multiple levels. We could be together when we wanted & not when we didn't. The architecture is extremely interesting. There are a number of porches & patios, lovely places to read quietly with a drink & feel the breeze. Walking through the front door, you are in a covered courtyard with one open side leading down a few steps to a partially enclosed atrium, a great place to admire the sunset or relax in the night breeze. There are many stairs in the house (two long staircases, one medium, five short) plus a number of steps down to the pool, so it's a house for active people.The large swimming pool plus hot tub was extremely popular & there are a ton of pool toys, etc. The large kitchen is very well stocked with dishes, pots & pans, appliances, etc., & a huge double-door refrigerator freezer. My daughter especially loved the excellent blender. :-) The washer & dryer were very handy. The house is well stocked with various supplies. There is a walk-in pantry with all sorts of serving dishes, supplies, basic food stuffs left by other guests, etc. Our host responded quickly to questions I could go on & on. Two things to know: no stores are within walking distance & the master suite windows have no shades so morning light comes in (not a privacy issue because no one can see in; just a light issue).

12 adults stayed for 4 nights. Amazing house with TONS of room. The house is so well stocked with food and supplies in the huge pantry. Professional kitchen with huge fridge. We never wanted to eat out. Scott was very responsive and flexible. Multiple people in.the group talked about coming back with their own families

We totally loved this VRBO we had 13 of us & our family dog. 6 adults 7 grandkids. What a beautiful home tons of space, grand master suite, gourmet spacious kitchen bar seats 8-10 seating areas everywhere, patios, nooks & crannies, ping pong, pool & spa. Scotts a great host! Perfect for any large group & privacy all @ the same time.

We recently stayed at this property and had a wonderful time. It’s large and our multi-generational family (ages 7-70) loved it. The views were beautiful, the gourmet kitchen a delight, plenty of different living areas with tv’s where the kids watched shows and adults watched baseball and golf, a large pool and hot tub, beautiful grounds, etc. My personal favorite area was the balcony where a nice breeze kept you cool while reading, watching the kids in the pool or enjoying the view with a glass of wine!

The home is set up with multiple beds in most of the bedrooms, which is perfect for young families. There are places to gather and places to relax privately. I'm a pool snob, but the pool was very clean and the water well balanced. The kitchen was well stocked with everything you would need for any meal. I messaged ahead and asked about an espresso machine. Scott replied that there wasn't one in the house, then went and purchased one. We have rented 6-8 big houses in the western United States and this one is hands down the nicest one. I hope to bring the family back next year. I also need to mention that the host (Scott) is very responsive. We didn't have any problems, but I did have a few questions.

It was the perfect place to gather our family of 12, with more than enough space, high end furnishings and kitchen ware, and everything you need to comfortably stay and cook for a large family. The house was clean. It was well appointed and tastefully decorated. The kitchen had everything you need. I requested an air fryer and Scott provided us with one. The view from the balcony is breath taking. One of the best sunsets I have ever seen. Lots of extra towels, and even paper towels and toilet paper were provided. Tv in every room. BEAUTIFUL. Gorgeous home, well kept, terrific location to freeway, stores, coffee shops, etc. Brought our family together to celebrate life, and several accomplishments of various members, and to get some QUALITY down time.

The location is great for shopping and restaurants and even the airport is only about 20 minutes away. The pool, hot tub and large grass lawn are wonderful. It’s the perfect home for family or friends reunion. And Scott is wonderful, answers texts within minutes!

Host: Communicating with Scott was incredibly easy. He was quick to respond to text messages and to VRBO messages. He was very clear in his communication and overall he was a terrific host. Property: We absolutely adored this property. It was spacious, each of our three families had room for privacy. The 4 children in our group had lots of space to play. I can echo what others have said: the dishwashers are picky, and since the property is on a septic system, there were some rules about the garbage disposals. That said, we had absolutely no issues and the rules weren't unreasonable. There are only two items to note that are the reason I put the rating at 4 stars. (1) We knew the property was on a hillside, but we were not prepared for the exact volume of stairs. The stairs are also all different heights and widths. We did have two incidents where someone fell when transitioning from the uniform stairs to the different width/height stairs. I wish the posting had been super clear about the volume of stairs and accessibility for people who have greater difficulty walking. (2) The flies. The property rules include a request that in the event the home needs to be cooled down, to prioritize opening up the windows and doors. We did this every morning as requested. Simply stated: there are no screens on any of the windows and we had daily massive battles with flies. I would love it if the home had screens so that we could have fresh air without allowing the outside in.

We booked this for our annual golf trip. The house was plenty large enough for 16 adult men. Large spaces gave each of us privacy as needed, but there is also plenty of room to gather without feeling cramped.

We were 6 couples traveling for our 40th birthdays and this house did not disappoint! Very well equipped with everything you could need. Lots of towels, beach towels, kitchen accessories, spices, paper plates, napkins, cleaning supplies, cribs, pool toys…you name it. We each had our own room and bathroom which was amazing. The pool and hot area were perfect for laying around. Plenty of space for all of us. BBQ worked great and we cooked a lot of our own food. Many many areas for seating and hanging out. So many that we didn’t even get to enjoy them all! Spots for sun, and shade, indoors and outdoors, plus the games room! Everything was clean and in great working order. Check in was super easy and Scott was very quick with responding. I would highly recommend staying here! Perfect for a large group!

We loved our stay at Scott’s incredible hillside home in Mt Helix. Our family of 20 meets every other summer and this is the finest yet most comfortable home we’ve ever stayed in. If we ever repeat a location, this would be it! The house is huge and has many outdoor gathering spaces—we found ourselves returning to the veranda off the dining room over and over. There was firewood to use in the outdoor fireplace there and blankets were thoughtfully provided for the evening chill. The views from there are breathtaking! The pool and grounds are beautifully kept and the climate is so lovely we only used the air in the upstairs bedrooms at night. The pool is very large and there was plenty of furniture and umbrellas for shade, One minor frustration was that because of the septic system the garbage disposal is unusable and dishes must be spotless before being put in the dishwasher. We also had trouble discerning in advance how the house was laid out. We were surprised to find that the entrance to the rec room was either through BR7 or from the outdoors. Also BR6 is across a courtyard and off to itself (which was lovely for we grandparents); however it is a short outdoor walk across the courtyard to get into the house to the bathroom. None of these things would keep us from returning, though! We also found the home to be a good value for our huge group especially considering other homes in the San Diego area. Mt Helix is a one amazing property after another!

Every year our large family gets together and this house was fantastic. We have many kids with us from infants to teens. I’ve never rented a home more baby friendly, from cribs to diaper pails, and even multiple float options for the pool. There are many stairways but baby gates are provided if you wish. The pantry and kitchen are well appointed. The home is absolutely gorgeous. The indoor and outdoor spaces transport you to the Italian countryside. We had 21 people and never felt crowded with plenty of comfortable places to relax. A short drive from anything you might need and beautiful views at the top of Mount Helix. The owner is very responsive and easy to talk to if you need anything. We absolutely plan on visiting again.

Our book group's yearly retreat of 16 woman had a fantastic stay here. The house was even more beautiful than the pictures. Scott was a terrific host...for months I peppered him with questions, and he was always graceful and answered promptly. We will definitely want to stay here again.

Scott was so nice and so easy to work with! He was very attentive to us, and his response was almost immediate. We really appreciated him!! We’re a large family who just love getting together, and Scott helped us with any questions we had. The house, itself, was amazing, simply amazing! We loved it so much and hope to go back someday! For a large family gathering, we had all the space we needed to be together, but still be comfortable, never feeling crowded, only grateful! Our grandkids cried as we left this beautiful home. This home was perfect for our California visit! We traveled with an infant & toddlers and parents & grandparents and there was plenty of space for all of us. It was really nice having all the "extras" for the variety of ages. The check in/out process was very easy and any time we had questions, the owner was very quick in responding. It's a beautiful home and I would highly recommend if traveling to this area!

The home is breathtaking- the pictures do not do it justice! It felt like we were in a luxurious and rustic Italian getaway. Watching the sunset from the hot tub and pool was so relaxing! The kitchen was amazing and fully stocked with pots/pans/utensils. There’s plenty of space and patio areas to hang out in. Scott was very quick to reply to our questions.

Such a fun place to stay with a large group—close to San Diego for museums, zoo, beaches, etc or just relaxing right at home with a fabulous pool. The host is very helpful. Love this home.

The home was lovely - we were a large family and had plenty of bedrooms & places to spread out. The owner was immediately responsive to all inquiries. Location is a bit removed but did not take more than 15-20 minutes to get to a lot of activities.

Awesome house, fully apportioned. We had everything we needed…fully stocked pantry. Kitchen had gadgets and appliances we needed to make full meals each day. All the beds were comfortable. Best house I’ve ever rented for a short term vacation. Everyone could not believe how great the house was. Beautiful view from the backyard of the hills and ocean in the distance. Amazing sunset we were able to watch each evening. I can’t say enough good things about our stay in the home.

Beautiful property. Four generations of family stayed here for one week. So much room for everyone. Enjoyed the pool area. Also the lawn for playing croquet and taking family photos against the sunset. Lots of intimate spaces but also a huge living room for when everyone wants to be together. Kitchen was very well stocked. Easy to drive to downtown San Diego. Highly recommend this home.

The pictures of this house don’t do it justice. The amount of space both indoors and outdoors is amazing. The best supplied house we have ever rented. Centrally located with gorgeous views. Already planning to come back. Scott was very kind and responsive. We had no issues at all and highly recommend this house and San Diego in general.
