WOW!! What an excellent spot tucked away!!! The town is fantastic and I like that this hotel isn’t on the main road so it’s quiet and peaceful. The staff was beyond friendly and helpful! The grounds are just stunning with everything meticulously maintained! The bungalows were truly special with their own private plunge pools. 5/5!

This property is absolutely beautiful and the staff is so kind and accommodating. Breakfast was fresh and delicious and the spa was amazing! The resort is minutes walking distance to the beach town of Puerto Viejo with lots of shopping opportunities. The locals are very welcoming and we felt very safe. I rarely stay at the same place twice, but I would absolutely return to this resort when visiting the area again (which I plan to!). Our bungalow with private pool was lovely. Highly recommend.

This was an absolutely beautiful property! Immediately upon checking in the staff was sweet, friendly, helpful and funny! The pictures don’t do this Hotel justice. The rooms are beautiful. I had my very own swim pool. The pool for everybody was absolutely beautiful! This is a 10 out of 10 property and stay. I highly recommend and definitely will be back!

Sehr nettes Personal, super schöne uns saubere Zimmer mit toller Anlage. Das Frühstück ist hervorragend und auch der Pool war sehr schön. Wir haben einmal den Zimmervice fürs Abendessen genutzt und auch hier war alles prima. Die Massage war auch super. Wir würden gerne wiederkommen

One of the best, if not the best hotel in terms of esthetics, privacy and customer service I have experienced. I had the bungalow with my own private pool. The Num restaurant served fresh delicious balanced meals(kind of pricy tho). Breakfast was amazing, filling and included in your stay. The staff always had a smile and were eager to help when in need. Housekeeping was daily with fresh towels, the location of the hotel was walking distance from restaurants, the beach, taxis, TikTok’s and stores including supermarkets. Playa negra is like a 5 minutes walk, playa cocles like a 25 minutes walk but on bike like 10 minutes and many other beaches. The jaguar animal rescue center is like a 20-25 minute biking. And cacao farm and tour is 10 minutes walk. Loved the hotel will definitely go back. Only problem were the insects at times will find their way in the room but it’s expected since you are around lots of plants and trees.give this hotel a 5 star for sure!!

The property was very quiet and calming. It rained the entire duration I was there so that made it even more pristine. Everything is walkable outside of the property. It’s not far from convenience stores, scooter rentals, night life & a small beach. The property itself is very clean. There is always someone maintaining it. The rooms are very clean as well. I love that it was adult only which made it more relaxing. The massages were very relaxing. They are done outdoors near the pool behind room divider & curtains, giving much privacy. My only issue was transportation back to the airport. My driver must have had issues, but fail notify the myself or the hotel. The manager was kind enough to find a last-minute driver so we wouldn’t miss our flight. Franchise was a great help in getting me squared away before the trip. All my questions and concerns were answered. I’d definitely visit this place again.

We had an incredible stay at Namu! It was worth the drive from San Jose - the property was quiet and private and the staff were amazing! Our room was beautiful and the private pool was such a nice addition to our stay. The food was delicious and the presentation was always beautiful. We had a couples massage with sound healing and aromatherapy - in the open air spa and rain coming down outside, it made it so much more relaxing. Douglas the manager and Jeremy the server made our stay so special. Their service was top notch!

This place is amazing! The property is so beautiful, very well maintained! The service was great! The staff was very kind and helpful! En helt magisk plats. Så vackert. En ljuvlig stor trädgård där flera trädgårdsmästare dagligen arbetar för att hålla den i toppskick. God mat. Trevlig personal. Fantastiskt poolområde. Möjlighet till spa-behandlingar. Men det bästa av allt var den fantastiska bungalow vi bodde i. Lyxig, stilren, stor och alldeles perfekt. Vi hade dessutom en egen mindre pool som var endast för oss. Detta ställe är fantastiskt!!!

This property is gorgeous, and the staff is fantastic. The free breakfast (which you can also do as room service) was such a nice perk - I will miss the daily fresh-squeezed starfruit juice. We had a fantastic couples massage. I loved that there were several little spaces on the property where you could hang out away from your room. It is a little off the beaten path, but walkable to all of the restaurants and shops. We had a great stay.

The property is amazing! It’s small and quaint. We stayed in a bungalow which also offered needed privacy given the trees surrounding the unit. The food was excellent (the free breakfast was a nice additur) and the service attentive. They went out of their way to assist us with our needs. It is in the heart to Puerto Viejo’s downtown area so close to everything - restaurants, shopping, and La Playa Negra (black beach). The only negative was the cleaning lady’s use of water apparently drenched with urine. The bathroom smelled of urine every time we left. We had to go to the grocery store, purchase some bleach and go over the floor and clean the toilet when she left.

I stayed at namu garden in June 2025 and had a lovely experience. My bungalow and the property were immaculately clean and well cared for. The private plunge pool was cleaned daily by the staff, removing particles from all the tropical plants and insects that might have gathered during the night. The property is conveniently located near two grocery stores and a fruit stand so you can easily grab snacks and refreshments for your room. You're a 5 minute walk away from the closest beach as well as the touristy beach shops. The staff at the hotel, we're super friendly and helpful. I was slightly disappointed as I thought the pictures indicated that the bungalows had a bathtub however, my room only had a shower. I really liked the daily WhatsApp messages from the hotel staff and chef with the daily specials. I traveled solo and felt perfectly safe the entire time.

Amazing stay at Namu. Beautiful architecture and décor and everything kept very clean. Wonderful staff and very tranquil. Perfect location tucked away from the hustle and bustle but still just a few minutes walk to the shops and water.

Namu Garden Hotel & Spa is a beautiful hotel, the grounds are really nice. Its more like bohemian style. Our room, bungalow 5 was really nice especially if you like living out in nature with geicos. Not me. It's just not my thing!! I don't do any bugs in my living space!!! They (not one) made plenty of noises at night. The AC worked well at night but still wasn't cool during the day as i would have liked. No toiletries in the room, no pen or paper, no phone, or kleenex. Ladies! The lighting is poor so applying any makeup (if you wear it) would be like guessing what you look like. But to top it off!! If they feel they are unable to clean your linens, you will be charged. They charged me $16 US dollars for 1 pillow case because there was makeup on it from sweating in a 85 degree room after trying to nap before I wash my face. I'm sure they make alot of money from that. I was told if there are red stains, you can forget it. Those days are over for me, lol. Food was ok. Breakfast is free. Location was great. Overall not bad, just not my cup of tea.

The property was beautiful. The room itself was beautiful too. The staff was great. Breakfast was delicious and a la cart. I had two things that made our stay not perfect: the water pressure in the shower was really low. I ended up postponing my last shower until we got to the next hotel. We also a water leak in the bathroom.

En general el hotel muy bien, la limpieza perfecta y la atención bien aunque no nos ayudaron con la maleta y se equivocaron de habitación al llegar por una que estaba ocupada. También el primer día que desayunamos duraron casi dos horas en traernos el desayuno y eran bastante sencillos, el día que fuimos a cenar estaban ricos los platillos pero no espectaculares, en relación precio siento que esta demasiado caro para lo que es. Las instalaciones muy bellas, agradable y limpio, estas en medio de la naturaleza.

En general el hotel muy bien, la limpieza perfecta y la atención bien aunque no nos ayudaron con la maleta y se equivocaron de habitación al llegar por una que estaba ocupada. También el primer día que desayunamos duraron casi dos horas en traernos el desayuno y eran bastante sencillos, el día que fuimos a cenar estaban ricos los platillos pero no espectaculares, en relación precio siento que esta demasiado caro para lo que es. Las instalaciones muy bellas, agradable y limpio, estas en medio de la naturaleza.

I had a good experience at Namu. The hotel looks new and very well maintained. The service is great all over and they do make you feel special. It is probably one of the nicest hotels in Puerto Viejo. Areas to improve: the pool needs more loungers as they get filled up very quickly; also some of the top floor master rooms are noisy, can hear everything the neighbours are doing and they need some work to seal the noise.

Das Zimmer war sehr gut nach hinten gelegen. Wir hatten einen wunderbaren Blick in den Garten und einen super schönen gemütlichen Balkon, den wir sehr genossen haben. Es gab Frühstück a la carte, das absolut ausreichend war. Man konnte fußläufig viele Restaurants erreichen.

Das Zimmer war sehr gut nach hinten gelegen. Wir hatten einen wunderbaren Blick in den Garten und einen super schönen gemütlichen Balkon, den wir sehr genossen haben. Es gab Frühstück a la carte, das absolut ausreichend war. Man konnte fußläufig viele Restaurants erreichen.

Absolutely gorgeous property, amazing amenities and wonderful staff. The big downside, however, is the soundproofing of the units. We stayed in a master suite on the ground floor and the upstairs neighbors simply walking around was enough to disrupt our sleep. I couldn’t relax the entire time because the noise was so disruptive. It was really a disappointment because everything else about the hotel was stunning. Unfortunately, due to the noise I wouldn’t stay here again.

Namú Garden Hotel & Spa is a beautiful property perfectly located just a five-minute walk from Black Beach and close to the downtown Puerto Viejo shopping area. It’s also conveniently near several charming coastal towns. The grounds are exactly as pictured on the website….lush, tropical, and very well maintained. The food was very good, and overall the atmosphere is peaceful and relaxing. The staff was mostly helpful and friendly, special thanks to Sophia and Pamela for their kindness and assistance throughout our stay. They also helped us easily book all of our excursions. However, one staff member, Jordy, did seem a bit aggravated and dismissive at times, which was disappointing compared to the otherwise warm hospitality. If I could offer a few suggestions for improvement, it would be to add air conditioning units to the living areas in the villas or Nimu House, as only the bedrooms have them. The bedroom pillows were very firm, so if you have neck issues, you might want to bring your own. The living room furniture only seats two and isn’t very comfortable, which makes watching TV (there isn’t one in the bedrooms) a bit difficult. The patio furniture, while stylish, could also be more comfortable. Additionally, the hotel does not offer assistance with luggage to or from the units, which can be challenging depending on where your room is located. Lovely ‘Master 3’ room in complete privacy overlooking well kept gardens. The hotel needs to install cable TV - otherwise we had to use YouTube for TV. Mosquitoes in the room were a problem. Needs the hotel anti mosquito plug device as standard. Very good Wi-Fi.

The property was beautiful. The room itself was beautiful too. The staff was great. Breakfast was delicious and a la cart. I had two things that made our stay not perfect: the water pressure in the shower was really low. I ended up postponing my last shower until we got to the next hotel. We also a water leak in the bathroom.

Service was outstanding, the suite was very nice and clean. Sofia at the front desk, Karin at the bar and Maria the waitress were all so very accommodating and just so friendly. I developed the stomach ache on the second day and everybody in the hotel seemed to know about it, asking me how I was feeling & wishing me well. The chef even made a chicken soup for me (no soups on menu) which was very tasty and super helpful for me to feel better. Definitely would return.

Namu Garden, Hotel and Spa is the best hotel I’ve ever stayed at. Great location in Limon. Close to the ocean, shopping and dinning and any excursion you want to do. The staff at the Namu are incredibly great, Sofia who works at the front desk is a super star. She helped with any questions we had about anything. Super friendly and really cares about making people feel welcome at the hotel. Jessica and Chef Esteban were always suggesting great food to eat at the restaurant. The free breakfast isn’t like any free breakfast I’ve had. It’s gourmet. Made with local ingredients and every morning was delicious. The grounds are lush and beautiful with wildlife running around. Incredible to see. The rooms are out of this world. We stayed in a suite which made he stay even better. Huge room with a pool and a place to lounge all from just outside of your room. All the amazing people who work here make you feel like you’re on the show white lotus. They know your name and room number so if you have any questions they call you by your first name. They make the time to have conversations with you and are outstanding doing what they each do. Namu’s app is a great resource, it works great and is informative about everything the hotel has to offer. It’s in a very walkable, safe area where we walked late at night and felt very secure. What an absolutely amazing hotel. From the time I booked, they were always in contact with me, easy to reach at all times. They recommended 2 fabulous excursions. The hotel offers a free breakfast off the menu which is scrumptious and fresh. The entire space is an Oasis. A 4 min walk to the beach and the main strip with all the bars and restaurants you could want. The hotel staff were absolutely amazing and went above and beyond to making our stay beautiful. On the morning of our departure, we had a 4:30am pickup and they made us coffee and sandwiches to take with us. I highly recommend this hotel in Puerto Viejo. Gracias por tudos Namu Above all

First, I had a six night stay here and fully appreciate this hotel has not been open for long. This property is beautiful, a small footprint eco-chic oasis. It is very close to the main street and surrounding neighborhood but the hotel itself is not too busy. The room (M8) was excellent and private. I loved being able to sip coffee in the morning sun on the deck. There are thoughtful spaces and touches (water dispenser, several lounge areas). I only wish the location of the open air spa was further from the pool and dining area. The volume of guests and foot traffic doesn’t promote relaxation during the busy dinner time frame. Now the staff- Noemi and Jhosimar at the front desk are wonderful!!! Please keep them; they helped me tremendously and always with a smile!! The f and b crew, lovely!! I would absolutely stay here again.

Check in was delayed because they couldn’t find our Expedia reservation. Never really got a nice and hot shower, which was odd for a luxury hotel. Now the good… everything else was simply divine and we’d return in a heartbeat 💗 Thank you Namu and shout out to restaurant staff. Delightful!

This place is spectacular! The staff provided exceptional service at Namu and the restaurant Num. Noemi provided outstanding support in arrangements including transfers to the hotel from SJO. It is so close to everything in the town. It is very walkable. We stayed in a bungalow which was a great size and the pool was so enjoyable. The free sit-down breakfast every morning was a great perk. Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

En general el hotel muy bien, la limpieza perfecta y la atención bien aunque no nos ayudaron con la maleta y se equivocaron de habitación al llegar por una que estaba ocupada. También el primer día que desayunamos duraron casi dos horas en traernos el desayuno y eran bastante sencillos, el día que fuimos a cenar estaban ricos los platillos pero no espectaculares, en relación precio siento que esta demasiado caro para lo que es. Las instalaciones muy bellas, agradable y limpio, estas en medio de la naturaleza.

WOW!! What an excellent spot tucked away!!! The town is fantastic and I like that this hotel isn’t on the main road so it’s quiet and peaceful. The staff was beyond friendly and helpful! The grounds are just stunning with everything meticulously maintained! The bungalows were truly special with their own private plunge pools. 5/5!

This resort is beautiful as pictured! Let me start by saying Francesca was a 12/10! I had many questions due to the location of this hotel. There’s no easy way to get here we flew into San Jose then had to take another flight to Limón and then take a cab to the hotel! A lot of time and a lot of money however the hotel has nothing to do with that! Francesca looked up the flights to Limón also had a van waiting for us she was helpful, patient and explained everything well. We communicated through whats app and she answered me quickly and throughly. The resort is very clean, very tranquil. The food was good and there are a lot of places within walking distance if you want to try local food. The beach is walking distance and easy to navigate. All I can say is be ready to spend alot of money traveling to get to this hotel. When you arrive you will have peace and quiet, the staff is great!

The staff make this boutique hotel special. Otherwise, it would be just another decent property. You are out in the country, so expect lots of animals and unpaved roads and sidewalks. The beach across the street is downright ugly, but this hotel is lovely and with decent food. Getting here is a nightmare! Do not fly into San Jose, unless you have a flight to Limon, as well.

Namú Garden Hotel & Spa is a beautiful property perfectly located just a five-minute walk from Black Beach and close to the downtown Puerto Viejo shopping area. It’s also conveniently near several charming coastal towns. The grounds are exactly as pictured on the website….lush, tropical, and very well maintained. The food was very good, and overall the atmosphere is peaceful and relaxing. The staff was mostly helpful and friendly, special thanks to Sophia and Pamela for their kindness and assistance throughout our stay. They also helped us easily book all of our excursions. However, one staff member, Jordy, did seem a bit aggravated and dismissive at times, which was disappointing compared to the otherwise warm hospitality. If I could offer a few suggestions for improvement, it would be to add air conditioning units to the living areas in the villas or Nimu House, as only the bedrooms have them. The bedroom pillows were very firm, so if you have neck issues, you might want to bring your own. The living room furniture only seats two and isn’t very comfortable, which makes watching TV (there isn’t one in the bedrooms) a bit difficult. The patio furniture, while stylish, could also be more comfortable. Additionally, the hotel does not offer assistance with luggage to or from the units, which can be challenging depending on where your room is located. All in all, Namú Garden Hotel & Spa is a beautiful and relaxing place to stay, with a great location and plenty of charm

Wir hatten eine wunderbare Zeit! Die Lage hat für uns gepasst, sehr schöne und gepflegte Anlage. Das Essen war sehr lecker (Frühstück, Mittag- und Abendessen). Wir würden jederzeit wiederkommen – und das sagt wohl alles. Wir können das Hotel wirklich aus Überzeugung weiterempfehlen. Ich nehme mir nur für Hotels Zeit für eine Bewertung, die es auch wirklich verdient haben.

Namu was exceptional. The hospitality was out of this world. Beautiful property. Amazing food. The staff treat you like royalty. Jeremy's mojitos are the best ever. We cannot wait to go back. I cant even begin to describe how amazing this place is!

What an absolutely amazing hotel. From the time I booked, they were always in contact with me, easy to reach at all times. They recommended 2 fabulous excursions. The hotel offers a free breakfast off the menu which is scrumptious and fresh. The entire space is an Oasis. A 4 min walk to the beach and the main strip with all the bars and restaurants you could want. The hotel staff were absolutely amazing and went above and beyond to making our stay beautiful. On the morning of our departure, we had a 4:30am pickup and they made us coffee and sandwiches to take with us. I highly recommend this hotel in Puerto Viejo. Gracias por tudos Namu Above all

Great boutique hotel, walking distance to all the amenities Puerto Viejo has to offer. We had a bungalow with our own pool which was fabulous. Service was excellent, as was breakfast which was included. My only complaint...two cappuccinos cost $18 CAD...ridiculous...

Sehr nettes Personal, super schöne uns saubere Zimmer mit toller Anlage. Das Frühstück ist hervorragend und auch der Pool war sehr schön. Wir haben einmal den Zimmervice fürs Abendessen genutzt und auch hier war alles prima. Die Massage war auch super. Wir würden gerne wiederkommen

The resort was very nice. The staff were helpful and friendly. The food is not what we expected, being that we were on the Caribbean side of the country. The resort food had beautiful presentation but the actual taste was very bland and not a lot of choices. They do have some cool things to see on the property from animals to fruits.

En general el hotel muy bien, la limpieza perfecta y la atención bien aunque no nos ayudaron con la maleta y se equivocaron de habitación al llegar por una que estaba ocupada. También el primer día que desayunamos duraron casi dos horas en traernos el desayuno y eran bastante sencillos, el día que fuimos a cenar estaban ricos los platillos pero no espectaculares, en relación precio siento que esta demasiado caro para lo que es. Las instalaciones muy bellas, agradable y limpio, estas en medio de la naturaleza.

En helt magisk plats. Så vackert. En ljuvlig stor trädgård där flera trädgårdsmästare dagligen arbetar för att hålla den i toppskick. God mat. Trevlig personal. Fantastiskt poolområde. Möjlighet till spa-behandlingar. Men det bästa av allt var den fantastiska bungalow vi bodde i. Lyxig, stilren, stor och alldeles perfekt. Vi hade dessutom en egen mindre pool som var endast för oss. Detta ställe är fantastiskt!!!

Hotellet var fint men servicen dålig. Hade i förväg berättat att vi skulle fira vår 30 åriga bröllopsdag där och gjort en förbeställning på 2 glas mousserande vin till frukosten det glömdes bort och var dessutom avslaget när det väl kom efter att jag fått säga till vilket förstörde hela överaskningen. Maten på hotellet var dyr och en ganska liten meny att välja på. Tonfisken jag beställde medium var helt rå. Vi checkade ut på kvällen eftersom vi skulle åka tidigt på morgonen och ville få ett kvitto, tjejen i receptionen vägrade och sa att hon skulle vara där på morgonen men receptionen var helt tom 06.00, endast säkerhetsvakten var där så det var han som fick ge oss frukosten som vi skulle få ta med. Området utanför och kring hotellet var smutsigt och det var mycket trafik.

We were unable to travel to that side of the country because of flooding, and mudslides. There was no way for us to get there. The best we were offered was a two night stay refund. Even though it was completely out of our control, and there was no possible way to get to the hotel. So we were out approximately $1600. I would think in that case, we should be refunded for the entire stay because there was no way to travel there. Very, very disappointed.

The hotel was, without doubt, very pretty & well-maintained. We booked this hotel specifically for the yoga offered (none was available during our 6 days there, with no offers made to help us find yoga in town or anywhere). I had a a 2 bedroom suite (for 2 people) and when we had a local Costa Rican friend of ours visit with us, They monitored and harassed us constantly about it. We were not drinking or loud. We played cards in our suite when it was raining outside and allowed our friend to use our shower in between activities. They wound up charging me more for this. I have lived on 3 continents and traveled the world extensively and I’ve never experienced such poor hospitality It was embarrassing how rude they were to our friend. It actually spoiled our trip and stay there. In addition, little things like having to ask - repeatedly- for our room coffee pods to be replenished. So, while this property is beautiful they have a lot to learn about how to take care of guests. I did speak with the manager in his private office about this and he did nothing to make the situation better. This hotel had no vibe and bad customer service. I hope they can learn from this because it’s a real shame, it’s a lovely property. As it is currently. I would not stay there again and would not recommend it.
