Comfort Inn & Suites Hampton near Coliseum

Overall the hotel was good. The only issue is the pool was dirty and cloudy and could not be used.

The property was nice, comfortable and in close proximity to dining and entertainment. The staff was awesome, respectful, and kind and check-in/checkout was a breeze. The only issue I had was with the non heated pool. One of the reasons why I booked here was because of the availability of an indoor pool, which the hotel had, but it was a disservice because my kids could not enjoy the pool because it was freezing cold. The heating element was not working. The temperature outside was also below freezing.

Room was musty smelling. Hot tub is filled in with concrete. Average. Small pool. Nothing special .. breakfast was great. Very well stocked and great worker keeping up with everything.

The breakfast was pretty good and staff kept everything clean. There’s one washer and one dryer for $3 each. We enjoyed the gym, there’s enough equipment for a full workout. The indoor pool area looked inviting but we didn’t use it. Great stay!

The pool was not clean enough

The staff were nice and breakfast good. I was very disappointed because when I checked in at 9pm for a 4 day stay in a handicap room the elevator was broken. They could not accommodatee in a first floor room. They did offer a suite room on the 2nd floor. When I checked out the elevator is still broken. This hotel was recently redecorated .but the bathroom door did not close. The hotel pool had a white film floating on top. I wish they called me and let me know about the elevator as it was very difficult for me. They knew I requested accessible room so they should have let me know

Everyone was friendly and every thing as described. The fitness center is opened 24 hours. The beds were perfectly comfortable.

The elevator at the hotel was broken. Our rooms were on the 3rd floor. Had to carry out luggage to the 3rd floor and need to take the stairs for two days.

Clean, easy parking

My room had ants. There was no alternative space so we had to deal with it. When we checked out all we got was an apology no gesture to make up for the unacceptable conditions.

spotless and the staff were wonderful. Particularly, the young man working the kitchen and food station, he is great at what he does.

This property had rust all throughout the tub and the worst mildew smell

I check in and the hotel bathtub was dirty. Hair was in the tub. We ask front desk to change rooms, They agree. We check into a new room but then discover the bed sheets in the new room was dirty. Brown stains on the sheet.. I will never stay here again!

I don’t like that the sheets weren’t clean at all! My sheets had green marking on it, the other bed sheet had brown stains. I don’t think the sheets were changed at all after the last guest, looks like the housekeeper just made the bed up. The front desk receptionist was very professional

Not the cleanest place. There were roaches in the room….the carpet and linens didn’t look the cleanest. The pullout couch was dirty too. If the hotel is cleaned up it would be a much better stay. They have good breakfast and the staff members are nice.

No housecleaning. Breakfast was not very good. Same food in the 3rd floor hallway when I got there and when i left three days later

Everything was fine, the room was comfortable, clean, but I only have one complaint and that is that I found several small cockroaches in the bathroom.

The room smelled like they just put bleach over dirt and said good, its clean. The sink was dirty when i arrived. It looked like someone had eaten and wiped their hands on the knob, plus it was sticky... looked like syrup or something was on it. Smelled like syurp. The shower walls wasnt that clean either. I usually always clean the toilet if i stay at hotel. I went to the dollar tree bought some dawn and faboluso... cleaned the sink (that was before i saw the syrup) cleaned the toilet, cleaned the shower walls... i let the tub soak ( thinking i woukd take a bath.) Its rare that ill take a bath at a hotel... but u really wanted to just soak after a long week of work... but instead the tub was pelling paint..... so i take it.. they paint over the dull look of the tub. They painted over it white. Like the paint peeled so you can see the dirtiness look that was there before they decided to paint it. With me seeing that. I know for a fact they cant clean or swap the sheets too good. I always take everything off, sheets, pillowcases and forgot to bring mine this time. This was actually my first time staying at comfort inn... and i wont be anymore. 🤗 i said i would write the choice hotel people too.

We had a wonderful stay at the Comfort Inn & Suites in Hampton. All of the staff was amazing, but Kevin in particular went above and beyond to help us get rooms together and was generally a great vibe! The rooms are exceptionally well sound proofed. Probably the best sound proofing of any hotel I have stayed at, including the bathroom. It felt like a quiet oasis in there :) We will definitely be back next time we are in Hampton. It is also walkable to a gas station and a big shopping center only a few minute drive away!

The carpeting and furnishings look new. The breakfast bar is decent. We booked a room with two queen beds, but the beds seemed to be about the width of a full bed, which made it a bit of a squeeze for me and my son, with both of us 6’ and about 220 lbs for me and 150 lbs for my son. Also, the second night we were there, the carbon monoxide detector (or maybe it was a smoke alarm) started making a faint sound like a Geiger counter every few minutes, which was annoying. Aside from the narrow bed and the faint but annoying sound, no other complaints.

Nice staff but this is not a 3 star property... feels much closer to a budget brand like red roof inn or motel 6. Extremely noisy AC system in room and very loud neighborhood kids in the lot late at night. Bathtub in pretty poor shape. We will not be returning.

This hotel is lovely. The room is a decent size with cute decor. The ladies in the front were very welcoming and helpful. Everything was clean. I’d stay here again.

The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. It was also well equipped with towels, AC and pillows. The only negative for me was the outside light coming into the room at night. The room definitely needs blackout shades

The hotel is pretty good. The staff was very friendly. The beds were hard, so it depends what you like. You can tell the hotel is older, but it seemed clean.

Very nice and clean hotel. Room was spacious and comfortable. We didn’t use the pool, gym, or got breakfast, but they all seemed great. Would definitely stay again if in the area.

Second stay here. Both times have be wonderful. The staff are freiendly and courteous. The amenities pool and breakfast are top notch. Very clean hotel. Rooms are very spacious and has everything one needs for the stay. Thanks again.

Front desk was awesome.

Good location but HIGHLY OVERRATED.I was treated rudely upon entering. I’d had a long day, having to assist people and finally had to rush to the room just to get myself together; as I arrived solo, awaiting my fiancé from out of town. Upon check in, I was made to wait for two employees, male and female, while they discussed company and personal business right in front of me. The woman coolly checked me in. When I asked of the check in time: “4pm 😒😒😒” ( which was displayed on a marquee to her left), she answered coolly again. I let her know that I was just asking because MY reservation said 3pm. When I got to the room, it REEKED of URINE…as if someone ACTUALLY had pissed ALL OVER the room. When my fiancé arrived, he agreed about it. As we both have busy individual lives, and only ONE night to be in each company we didn’t complain. Later on she was rude to me about not having a wine key; VERY dismissive, even though she’d clearly assisted my fiancé to the point he felt assured she’d do her job and help me. Never any eye contact and VERY indifferent!! I have NEVER experienced that kind of treatment just on check in from such a shoddy hotel. To call themselves 3 Star IS A LIE! The only good part about my stay was location, and the breakfast and those who prepared it. We called the last room we’d gotten/Sonesta Select Suites: just up the road. Asked if they had a wine key: they did. Better next time

Staff is super friendly and helpful

For the most part the staff was really friendly, helpful and professional, for the most part. Now, saying all of that, someone in housekeeping put a slight damper on that , by knocking on my door to ask me if I was leaving at 11:00 am, at 9:30, when I had a do not disturb tag on my door. Luckily I was up, or I would have been super mad. We did find hair in our bed covering, but the staff immediately gave us fresh linen and apologized. AC was nice until it wasn't in the middle of the night, but found out from Google that rooms have motion detectors that cut off the AC at night, which I understand trying to save but it not right. My major complaint though is that the Hotel kept a $150 hold on my card without my consent, along with the cost of the rooms and said it would fall off in a few days for possible damages charges. I booked my room through Expedia, which show exactly what was supposed to be charge, this is a disrespectful charge if you ask me. Also parking can be a little tough at times, especially if you have a big vehicle.

The front desk staff was just amazing. The fact they recognize me from staying there the last 4 times in less then 2 months prior to my dad's passing and asking how he was gives this Comfort Inn a 5 plus stars

The manager was arrogant and acted like he was doing us a favor. We need to switch one of our rooms and he could have done it as a courtesy, but short men tend to over exert their authority, especially with women, and he insisted on charging us. The woman at the desk was much more accommodating, polite and engaging, but she had to run everything by the short man with the light skin, wavy hair colorism attitude. Other than him the rest of the staff was nice.

The check in time is 4pm but I was not able to gain access to my room until 4:35. We were in Hampton for a friends wedding at Our Lady of Vietnam Catholic Church which began at 5:00 pm and after traveling from Laurel, Md. and not being able to shower and get dressed we did not get to the wedding until 5:30. This was a real disappointment and embarrassing for my wife and myself. I explained all of this to the staff to no avail whatsoever and checked out this morning with no satisfaction or resolution to this matter.

I paid $200 through Expedia. But getting to hotel, they needed card on file. Which they ended up charging me as well $150 for my less than 12 hour stay. So $350 for a comfort inn stay that was us literally getting there at 10pm and leaving early in the morning. And when calling about this charge- can’t understand a lick of the person who is supposed to be trying to help us. Not sure if it’s just to piss us off more to just hang up and forget about what was just scammed from us or what their intentions were. BUT BEWARE they don’t tell you that the other places will charge also on top of their charge!

The hotel was convenient to the Interstate. There was plenty of close-in parking. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The one thing which I think could be done is a better description of its location when searching for it with GPS. There are a number of Comfort Inns in the vicinity and someone not familiar with the area would have a hard time--as I did--figuring out which one to submit to the GPS for routing. If there could be some kind of unique name for it not related to its address, that might help a lot. Example: "Comfort Inn Magnifico" or "World's Best Comfort Inn."

Excellent night stay, nearby to Great Shopping AND Dining options. Pretty close to all Hampton and Newport News.

Convenient to HU. Comfortable and much better than some of the more pricier hotels in Hampton.

Very nice staff. The breakfast was good. Room was nice. Car ride to restaurants and coliseum. What more could you ask for.

Excellent stay! Comfortable room and bed, friendly staff, great breakfast! The guy running the breakfast was fantastic, and I let the manager know. Very close to several restaurants, as well as a large hospital. We will definitely stay here next time we’re in the area.

Place was clean! So was room! Only problem Beas the breakfast! Eggs were horrible! But i would stay there again just will go out for breakfast

The hotel was very clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. The staff working in the kitchen for the breakfasts were EXCELLENT!! The food was hot and delish. They made sure everything was fully stocked for the entire breakfast time. Wiping tables and counters constantly. We will be back!

Everything was great. Checking in and out was easy. Room was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. The fridge in the room didn’t work but I had a cooler with me. Complimentary breakfast was great!!

No complaints. It was clean, staff was friendly, parking was free, plus it has a pool and free breakfast. The breakfast ends at 9am though so you have to get up early for it. That’s the only thing that bugged me. I will definitely stay here every time I visit Hampton.
