First time staying at a bed-and-breakfast for my daughter, wife, mother-in-law, and myself. We came to Meadville for a gymnastics competition at Allegheny College. This bed and breakfast is right near campus, so it couldn’t have been any more convenient I booked late at night, but the next morning, the host, Shane, begin communicating with me about what to expect, and what he should expect from us. He couldn’t have been any more pleasant or courteous. Upon arrival, we were greeted out front, and Shane offered to help carry our bags inside. He showed us to our rooms, gave us our keys, and took us on a tour of the house. Shane made It quite clear that that house was our house for the night, and we were free to use it in, whichever manner made us comfortable. The gorgeous kitchen is open All night long. Everything was immaculate. He showed us our breakfast options, which were a variety of grab and go breakfast sandwiches, bagels, breads, fruit, yogurt, waffles, cereal, coffee. Definitely something for everyone. The house itself is So very charming. It’s a beautiful quiet neighborhood. The furnishings, the architecture, the decor, we’re all top-notch, and there’s a lot of history that goes with the house as well. We had the grand room and the sunshine room. If you’re worried about sharing a bathroom, then have no worries. This place is spotless. Running out of characters, otherwise I would go on and on about how much we enjoyed our stay. Don’t think twice about booking

Loved the working player piano in the hallway. Solid sleep in a nice neighborhood that is on the fringe of the Allegheny College campus. Wish we had arrived earlier to enjoy this place a little more.

Quaint and picturesque, the Highland Bed and Breakfast feels like being home again after a long time away. It is quiet and spacious. Although lacking in central air conditioning, the portable units and fans provide enough ventilation to cool down after a long day on the road. We also opted for the gift option on the paperwork and were quite pleased at the little gift bag received upon arrival. We will definitely consider returning if we happen upon Meadeville, PA again.

We'd usually stayed a local motels just for the convenience, but those were unexpectedly out of our price range this time, so we were delighted to find this B&B in a historic home, in the neighborhood where one of us had grown up. Being in town made it more convenient than the motels which are near the interstate west of town. We worried about a shared rather than a private bath, but there was no problem as there was only one other bedroom occupied and our schedules did not "collide."

Great experience. i had never stayed in a b&b prior, so it was unusual (for me) that there isn't a 'front desk'. However, it was great! i had access to the kitchen and other rooms of the house. only 1 other guest while i was there and we were on opposite ends of the house. Only kind of negative was that my room was accessed from the porch...great for privacy, but it meant if i needed anything i had to go outside and enter through the main entry door to the house. no big deal, but the storm door and the main door have no 'clutch' to stop them from fying open and hitting the radiator...

We had a great experience even tho we were without some of the “physical amenities”. The place was beautiful, well cared for and the breakfast options were variable in the well stocked kitchen. We are going back again in a month for another stay in the place that my husband would like to own!!!

Such a beautiful historical home from 1855. So much Charm was maintained even with great updates. Shane was so nice, easy to communicate with. Would be great for family events with the option to rent the whole house.

We enjoyed our stay there. We loved the kitchen, dining room, and the shower! The stairs going up to the second floor are very steep. The railing for the staircase is the original height which is too short for people these days. Going from the Sun Room to the bathroom there is a step which is too tall/high--it needs another step added. Retaining the original characteristics of the house is practicle and desirable in most cases, but not always. My husband said that the matress is too soft. We would stay there again but these few things made it somewhat less than a 5 star stay. The family who owns this home are wonderful to work with.

The property owner contacted me a day ahead of time. That was great to clear up any last minute questions. He was very thorough to make sure he answered any additional questions. The lodging was a180 year old home which was beautiful and clean. But that's not to say it was perfect. It still showed it's age. For instance, the light switch for the bathroom was not in the bathroom but in the bedroom. If you needed to use the bathroom in the middle of the night, anyone else trying to sleep got a good dose of "lightning" . The switch is on the hinge side of the bathroom door out in the bedroom. So it was bothersome in that setting. The remodeling should have included moving the switch into the bathroom. Also, the bathroom door was out of alignment with the door frame requiring a thud to getting it closed. Adding "thunder" to the "lightning. Again because of the age of the house, there were only three electrical outlets in the room and were required for room lamps, etc. No convenient location for phones to be charged. Other than those issues, everything else was very nice and clean. Other than the lack of a light switch "in the bathroom" the shower stall, toilet, and sink were very nice, though a little "tight". And we are not big people...

Beautiful property in a great neighborhood. This is located in a quaint neighborhood with tall trees and gardens. The service was fantastic and personal. Everything was so clean and well kept. This property is owned and run by a mother son team. Shane came out and helped me unload my motorcycle from my trailer. You will find a lot of home cooked food in the refrigerator. I was on a business trip and was only looking for a place to sleep. This place turned out to be a pleasant surprise.

This beautiful, immaculate, charming Victorian bed and breakfast was absolutely delightful to stay in. Shane met me at the door and was attentive to any needs I had. The room was comfortable and cool despite the heat. I would definitely love to visit again.

Shane was a gracious host and shared a bit of the history of the house. It's a good restoration, retaining the mid-Victorian charm. Bed was firm and comfy. Variety of options for breakfast. Google Maps got me here without any trouble. I was just in town overnight for work, and found this place to be an excellent deal. I'd return for a weekend with the family.

This historic home was adorable and didn't feel too 'stuffy'. There was old-timey furniture, but you could actually use it, and all the right modern comforts were still there (bathroom, mattress, a/c, etc). Shane was attentive and made our late evening check-in easy. Just FYI, not for those with accessibility/mobility issues. Also, ignore Expedia trying to charge extra for breakfast-- it is provided. We definitely would stay here again.

A beautiful older home that has been refurbished and upgraded. A perfectly located spot to visit our daughter who is enrolled at Allegheny College, just a block away. It was a cold night, and no one explained about the electric fireplace that is used to heat the room, fortunately we figured it our after a few minutes. We did not have breakfast, no one mentioned it to us, maybe we were supposed to ask, but none was available by 9 am when we left.

The property is within walking distance to the college so very convenient to those wanting to visit Allegheny College. The owner and staff were extremely polite. The only negative would be the limited number of bathrooms and having to be shared. We were informed addressing that is in the owner's plans

This B&B was gorgeous!! I had never stayed in one before so it was a new experience for me, but it was a great one. Shawn was wonderfully accommodating. The rooms were spacious. The setting is stunning and quiet; it feels like you're miles away from the chaos, yet close to everything you could want. I highly recommend.

This place was absolutely stunning. Definitely the Victorian-style bed and breakfast we were looking for. We found this last minute on the same day we needed the room for and they totally delivered. Shane was great at communicating the whole time even considering the last minute booking. Great breakfast options, everything was either grab and go or low effort make-it-yourself. The property is so beautiful, I hope we will be able to make it back someday to stay for a longer period of time. 10/10 would recommend!

Beautiful property in a great neighborhood. This is located in a quaint neighborhood with tall trees and gardens. The service was fantastic and personal. Everything was so clean and well kept. This property is owned and run by a mother son team. Shane came out and helped me unload my motorcycle from my trailer. You will find a lot of home cooked food in the refrigerator. I was on a business trip and was only looking for a place to sleep. This place turned out to be a pleasant surprise.

Loved the working player piano in the hallway. Solid sleep in a nice neighborhood that is on the fringe of the Allegheny College campus. Wish we had arrived earlier to enjoy this place a little more.

We'd usually stayed a local motels just for the convenience, but those were unexpectedly out of our price range this time, so we were delighted to find this B&B in a historic home, in the neighborhood where one of us had grown up. Being in town made it more convenient than the motels which are near the interstate west of town. We worried about a shared rather than a private bath, but there was no problem as there was only one other bedroom occupied and our schedules did not "collide."

The property is within walking distance to the college so very convenient to those wanting to visit Allegheny College. The owner and staff were extremely polite. The only negative would be the limited number of bathrooms and having to be shared. We were informed addressing that is in the owner's plans

This B&B was gorgeous!! I had never stayed in one before so it was a new experience for me, but it was a great one. Shawn was wonderfully accommodating. The rooms were spacious. The setting is stunning and quiet; it feels like you're miles away from the chaos, yet close to everything you could want. I highly recommend.

First time staying at a bed-and-breakfast for my daughter, wife, mother-in-law, and myself. We came to Meadville for a gymnastics competition at Allegheny College. This bed and breakfast is right near campus, so it couldn’t have been any more convenient I booked late at night, but the next morning, the host, Shane, begin communicating with me about what to expect, and what he should expect from us. He couldn’t have been any more pleasant or courteous. Upon arrival, we were greeted out front, and Shane offered to help carry our bags inside. He showed us to our rooms, gave us our keys, and took us on a tour of the house. Shane made It quite clear that that house was our house for the night, and we were free to use it in, whichever manner made us comfortable. The gorgeous kitchen is open All night long. Everything was immaculate. He showed us our breakfast options, which were a variety of grab and go breakfast sandwiches, bagels, breads, fruit, yogurt, waffles, cereal, coffee. Definitely something for everyone. The house itself is So very charming. It’s a beautiful quiet neighborhood. The furnishings, the architecture, the decor, we’re all top-notch, and there’s a lot of history that goes with the house as well. We had the grand room and the sunshine room. If you’re worried about sharing a bathroom, then have no worries. This place is spotless. Running out of characters, otherwise I would go on and on about how much we enjoyed our stay. Wonderful stay, we were greeted by Jim who showed us around the house and since we were the only ones there at the time we were also free to look around the place. The inside was nicely done all around. Lots of updated features but still has that old style charm. Nice quiet area, our room was pretty nice, we had the President's room and it was decorated well. The bed was good with the memory foam so had a good night's sleep.We woke up and went down stairs where Ada was cooking breakfast with eggs, bacon, sausage, toast and a few other things .we got to meet a few of the other guest and had great conversations with them as well as our host Jim and Ada, they were awesome and very friendly. Shane the host was going out of town but he did reach out to me via text, so we didn't get to meet him but we were in good hands with Jim and Ada! It was a very pleasant stay and we look forward to coming back! Thank you!

This place is a little gem. The owners did a wonderful job restoring this 170 year old house and the attention to detail is unparalleled. There's a couple serving breakfast in the morning and they were so nice asking what we wanted and cooking it and bringing it to the table. I'll definitely recommend to all our friends.

A beautiful older home that has been refurbished and upgraded. A perfectly located spot to visit our daughter who is enrolled at Allegheny College, just a block away. It was a cold night, and no one explained about the electric fireplace that is used to heat the room, fortunately we figured it our after a few minutes. We did not have breakfast, no one mentioned it to us, maybe we were supposed to ask, but none was available by 9 am when we left.

We had a great experience even tho we were without some of the “physical amenities”. The place was beautiful, well cared for and the breakfast options were variable in the well stocked kitchen. We are going back again in a month for another stay in the place that my husband would like to own!!!

The Highland guesthouse is a historical building with lots of history. It is located very close to Allegheny College. The breakfast consists of pastries and cereal, with options to make your own eggs, bacon, sausage and other cooked items. We would prefer to have coffee ready and a cooked breakfast ready, even if it would be a simple breakfast casserole that would need reheated. The bathrooms are shared, unless you stay in the 2 rooms that have private ones. The staff is not around much during the day so you have a lot of privacy. We would stay here again, especially during the Thurston Hot Air Balloon Classics which leave at 6 am and Highland Guesthouse is only 1/2 mile away.
