Starting Oct 21, 2025, an accommodation tax will be introduced in Hokkaido. The tax is based on the accommodation fee and is charged per person per night. The tax rates are as follows: Over ¥20,000: ¥100 ¥20,000 to ¥50,000: ¥200 Over ¥50,000: ¥500 Additionally, each municipality may impose an extra charge of ¥100 to ¥2,000 per person per night on top of the Hokkaido accommodation tax. The accommodation fee includes the room charge and service fees, but excludes meal charges and consumption tax.
