Residence Gold Beach

Stayed the 2 floor family unit. Really fun great setting very memorable while touring WW2 Normandy sites. The positives far outweighed the negatives and would stay here again! Positives: two story unit kitchenette, friendly staff, slight ocean view of Gold Beach, amazing sleeps with the window open at night with wind outside, tried two restaurants close by L’Overlord (pizza was surprisingly great) and the other restaurant on the other side of the building. Also free parking with security gate at night. Internet speed was fine. Ample amount of pillows and sheets in closet. Negatives: limited shampoo and soap. Great time and highly recommend especially if you’re with multiple people the two story setup gives a lot of breathing space downtime at night.

Easy access to rooms. A little warm but fans provided. A nice touch for motorcycles is the secured access gate at night.

The staff were great and the parking was very secure

Really worried about staying here after reading the reviews, but the hotel was perfect for our needs and for one night. The wi-fi is non existant and this needs to be resolved and theirs no air con, but if you're looking for a family room that's cheap, near the normandy beaches then look no further.

The reception staff were very welcoming and friendly. The availability of a small kitchen facility in the room was not advertised but very welcome. The TV channel 'list' in the room gave the impression that only 'local' channels were available when in fact (by luck) I found there were many more international news channels, etc. Which was a bonus. The location was very quiet (end of September) but well situated. Overall I had great visit and would not consider anywhere else should I return to the area in the future. Thanks

Etat général de l'entretien à parfaire surtout quand vous trouvez du sable un peu partout dans la chambre et les étagères ! la fonction kitchinette est fermée en basse saison, payante "si", et vous fait apparaitre un volet roulant intérieur un peu surprenant et très disgracieux !

Déception… chambre en plutôt mauvais état : cache de prise manquant, prise qui tient avec du scotch, frigo cassé, joint de fenêtre qui tombe, rambarde d’escalier qui ne tient pas bien… et j’en passe. Propreté de la chambre laisse à désirer. Kitchenette : 15€ de supplément pour l’utilisation, cher pour un tarif de chambre déjà très élevé. Nous avons demandé un lit bébé, mais il fallait fournir les draps, aucune information n’était mentionnée sur le site… fortement déçu de ce séjour. Point positif : literie assez confortable. Pour un hôtel qui se dit 3 étoiles, tout est limite!

La première chambre à notre arrivée avait une odeur désagréable et la propreté était négligée. La deuxième chambre était passable mais la propreté restait pour nous négligée. Le matin des travaux étaient effectués dans l’hôtel notamment dans la dans la chambre à côté de la nôtre à partir de 8h du matin (coup de marteau perceuse,…) Nous en avons fait par aux personnels qui nous a plus ou moins rit au nez. De plus les travaux était effectué un jours férié. Lors du petit déjeuner plus de viennoiseries. Hôtel a fuire

1 nuit du 05 au 06 aout . Appartement 5 personnes loue . Surprise en arrivant , il faut payer 15 de plus pour utiliser la cuisine ... Logement pas du tout propre, avec des prises électrique sortant du mur (pratique avec des enfants ) pour finir literie de l etage avec une odeur noseabonde (vomi+renferme ) sur 2 lits sur 3 . Remarque faite lors du depart le 06 aout pour un minimum de dedomagement. Toujours en attente. C est classe 3* mais les ibis budget sont bien mieux ...

Great location, excellent staff that we interacted with, rooms not of a good standard ie not cleaned well or daily.

Personnel très agréable et souriant. Confort de la chambre moyen, joints de baignoire tout moisis. Pas d'isolation entre la porte et le couloir, ce qui fait qu'on entend les gens parler, claquer leur porte et quand il y a un chien mal élevé comme ça a été notre cas on l'entend aboyé, un vrai régal. Localisation bien.

Pas de serviette à l'arrivée dans la chambre, baignoire qui ne garde pas l'eau. Murs abîmés. Bof pour le prix !

Déçu par ma reservation . A notre arrivée, il restait une canette ouverte de soda dans le frigo et sur le sol il y avait une zone collante . L état général de la chambre est plus que moyen vu le prix payé ( trou dans le mur , porte coulissante dégradée , joint de salle de bain moyen , porte serviette qui bougeait

Service de nettoyage inexistant sur 4 jours Lits faits uniquement le deuxième jour. Draps et serviettes non changées pendant le séjour ! Seul compensation proposée :le changement de chambre et ce la veille du départ ! Petit déjeuner très décevant pour le prix :quantité insuffisante et peu varié, Tables salles et non débarrasser Très déçu de se séjour dans cette établissement où nous avions déjà séjourné plusieurs fois et où nous n’avions pas eu ce genre de désagréments pour des services qui sont bien évidemment prévu dans le prix , que nous avons bien réglé dans ça totalité et ce avant le séjour . Je pense qu’il serait souhaitable de Nous contacter afin de convenir d’une indemnisation pour ces manquements à vos obligations. MG

Good location for the beaches, place was a bit tatty but bed was comfy and the shower worked well.

I did have a great stay and it has a potential to be a great hotel. They did upgrade us which was so nice but it’s the little things like having hooks to hang your towel in the bathroom, they ask you to reuse your towels then there should be some where to hang them. Unfortunately I found the downstairs bed to be lumpy and that I was pretty sore when I woke up in the morning. My sister slept upstairs and said that hers was fine. The breakfast was worth it in the morning as there was a good choice. This is a great spot to stay, we did for two days and used that time to see all of the landing beaches and a couple museums, I would stay here again.

The property is dated and tired. Beds were comfortable but able to hear people in the halls. Good for one night but not longer. Bathroom and kitchenette need updating.

Overall it was a lovely place, the reason I gave 4* was the full ash tray outside my room and the massive gap under the room door you could limbo that let all the hallway bright light in all night (eventually I used towels to block the gap). It was very hot and there was no fan or air con (granted it was unusually hot), the worst bit though was we had to have the veranda door open to manage the temperature and there was a campsite a few doors down having a live gig that didn’t finish till gone 1am. While the noise and heat weren’t necessary the hotels fault some temperature control in the room would have been really appreciated. Would I stay again, probably not, we are early risers and the noise from the nearby campsite was just too much with the windows open and no air con. Overall though it was a nice hotel, continental breakfast was delightful, parking was great, staff were very friendly and helpful (uk plug adapter box behind reception = lifesaver). Plus the local food places were AMAZING. The area and local people were also brilliant, I would definitely return to the area.

Rooms are a bit disappointing

The room was small but perfectly adequate. Kitchen is OK, good microwave. Plenty of utensils though luckily I am tall as everything was in a high cupboard. Very nice little patio outside and the hotel is a short walk to both a Carrefour supermarket and Gold Beach. Good choice.

Property is a little tired looking and scruffy around the edges. It needs a general repainting and bathroom remodel. Large areas of mould in the shower. Our room was very hot, thermostat showed 29.5°c and in the upper part of the room it would have been mid 30°s ,very uncomfortable. Upper part of the room needs a skylight to vent warm air out as there is no air conditioning in the room, which is probably fine 10-11 months of the year but not when it’s 32°c. Having said that it was in a good location, secure parking, staff were friendly and hotel was busy. The town is a little quiet compared to Arromanches-les-Bains 5mins up the road. But it’s 2mins walk from the beach and the couple of restaurants there is locally.

The beds were comfy and rooms clean. A little dated but fine.

The town was quiet and pleasant. Location for Canadian WW2 memorials was perfect. The room was two levels with bathroom on main level and bedroom upstairs. No air con made the upper level very warm and stuffy. Could use a fan to help circulate the air.

Le personnel vraiment au top, la chambre que nous avons occupé également ! Très propre, spacieuse et fontionnel 😊 Juste un petit point négatif vis à vis du petit déjeuner, qui me paraissait léger au vu du tarif, une viennoiserie pour deux et un morceau de pain. Je reste sur ma faim. Sinon le reste très bien. Nous reviendrons avec l’espoir d’une amélioration 👍

The hotel is a solid value, clean, lots of parking and a great starting point for seeing Normandy. Maria at the front desk is a total joy to work with.

Excellent stay , the staff were friendly, knowledgeable and were extremely helpful and hospitable ensuring we got the very best from our stay at the hotel and surrounding area.

After purchasing extra insurance for free cancellation and trying multiple times to reach this hotel to see if we could check in after hours, they never responded but hung up on us several times. They are refusing to reimburse ANY of the charges. Charged us fully for not staying there and they would NOT work with us or any advocates for reimbursement. Horrible communication via their non-existent number and virtual chat.

Showed up at this hotel with a confirmed booking to find a locked gate and no one there for reception. Called all three numbers multiple times… no answer. Stood in the dark, in the rain for 90 minutes calling and finally had to book another hotel at 11pm. Awful place. Terrible service. Book elsewhere!

Unterkunft ist in voll Ordnung, das Personal ist freundlich. Frühstück ist einfach aber ausreichend. Das Hotel liegt wenige Gehminuten von Gold Beach. Der CheckIn am Terminal ist eine Katastrophe. Nach Eingabe der Daten brach der Automat mit Hardwarefehler ab. Dann bekam ich statt zwei nur eine Zugangskarte und trotz Zahlung war kein Frühstück für die zweite Person gebucht was zu Diskussionen mit dem Personal führte. Lieber im entsprechenden Zeitfenster an der Rezeption einchecken wenn möglich.

Excellent value hotel. Beds are comfy, staff are extremely friendly, location is brilliant. It's definitely not a luxury hotel, but is great for the price you pay. Clean, mini kitchen well equipped.

Receptionist Marie was fantastic throughout our trip. Even helped me practice my limited French vocabulary. The hotel is little basic, but was great place for exploring the central DDay landing sites. I would definitely stay at this place again

Great hotel and location for visiting Gold beach. Arromanche is a stones throw. Could eateries next door. 5 minute walk to the sea front.

Fantastic hotel for ww2 enthusiasts. Mulberry harbour starts at the beach behind hotel. Way less tourists. Arromanches is a 2 minute drive. Highly recommend

Excellent location for whar we wanted

Very convenient for the town and other facilities.

The hotel itself is value for money. Finding the kettle and coffee maker in the room was a plus. The outside space is a lovely sun trap in the evening. We stayed in early June and the area was generally quiet. The hotel was hosting a school trip, which not an issue for us. We were only there for 2 nights, Mon/Tues, which did mean having to drive the 2 miles to Arramanche to find somewhere to eat, as none of the local venues were open on those evenings. I presume this changes once the season kicks in proper.

Beautiful location, perfect to explore for all the family

The Hotel was well placed for the beach, with good parking, however there was nowhere in the vicinity to eat as all local restaurants were closed on Mondays. We & some American guests ended up at the small supermarket nearby getting “make-do” food for the evening. Also, whilst this was an inexpensive overnight stop (and we did expect basic for the price), there were a few issues that could easily improve the experience - our room had a wobbly tap on the kitchenette, poorly fitted ceiling fittings, the shower room whilst clean really needed a deep clean at all edges. The room had a coffeemaker & kettle but no supplies of teabags, coffee or milk & no cups we could see. The pay extra breakfast was expensive at a cost of 11.95€ pp -a very basic buffet & not as varied as others we’ve enjoyed at similar cost. A few little tweaks & this could be a great stopover hotel, but really needs a little TLC.

A quirky hotel. The room was more like a studio with self catering facilities. No wardrobe or hanging space. Good value breakfast and safe parking. Good restaurant nearby.

It's a good basic place to stay - room was clean and orderly. Accomodations are basic and workable (e.g. bed slept comfortalbly and tub is deep enuff to soak in. Front Desk staff - Marie - was excellent in her service and engagement. Breakfast is more "continental" - breads, some cheeses, croissants, yogurt, cereals, basic fresh fruit. It's a clean place, a little dated, and a good value for the price charged.

This hotel was really good for the cost. We only stayed one night as a stop over to another destination but would deffinatly come back. Would not buy the breakfast though as it’s just bread

This is mostly a family-oriented beach resort hotel. The rooms were comfortable , if a little worn. It is right on the beach, and I imagine that in high-season, it is lively. We arrived on a Sunday evening and there was no place to eat within a good few kilometers. The price for the room was modest but I thought that breakfast was pricey. Not that it was bad—-just a little high for rather ordinary fair.

Not bad for the money but not the best. Basic accommodation that serves a purpose. Breakfast not great for the money paid for it.

Fin beliggenhed Dejlig modtagelse og yngre kvinde som var sød og imødekommende. Ok morgenmad med meget koldt da døren åbenbart skulle stå åben helt ud - alle gæster sad og frøs og vi lukkede døren, men Herren i receptionen åbnede igen. Ellers et dejligt ophold.
