Checkin was efficient & well explained. Provided with a code to access room. No key. Pleasantly surprised on entering the room with great view of Mt Fuji from the window. Room very comfortable with 2 beds, a separate sitting area Japanese style, kettle with amenities available from reception. Staff were very good & very attentive to requirements. Access to a rooftop area to admire Mt Fuji. We were lucky with clear days. Breakfast was included with my room - either Japanese cuisine , which was very tasty or international - egg & ham sandwich. Coffee, tea , juices are available. Ate at the restaurant which had a limited menu of 2 items. The ramen was very tasty. Hotel is approx half hour walk from kawaguchiko station. Also a short walk to the lake. Restaurants in the locality requiring a walk from the hotel. Bicycles are also available for hire to explore the area. I enjoyed my stay at Haostay & thank the staff for welcoming nature. Would recommend Haostay.

The toilet had a strong smell every time we used it. Very unpleasant. The coin dryer did not work well. Clothes were dried for more than 60 minutes or more and still damp. The facility needs to clean the dryer more often for better efficiency. On the other hand, free breakfast and nice staffs are the plus of the hotel.

Very clean. Staff were very nice. The HAOSTAY COFFEE from the same owner is 3 minutes walk from train/bus station. They provide free service to transfer the luggages from the HAOSTAY hotel to HAOSTAY COFFEE.

Clean and big room. Loved the tatami mat sitting area. Staff were friendly and helpful. Liked that they had breakfast available, free morning shuttle, and bikes for rent. Loved the neighborhood area and watermelon yurts.

First of all the staff is outstanding. They're very attentive to your needs. I didn't ask the name of the receptionist, but the short and very young lady that helped me get a taxi when there was none available. She saved the day as a matter of fact made the whole trip worthwhile as I needed to get to the bus on time for my Mt Fuji hike. Give that girl a raise. It's a bit of a walk from the bus station but it wasn't an issue for me. The room was clean. The washer and dryer downstairs came in handy. I was able to use the dryer the morning I left for 100 yen. I would stay here again.

I think HAOSTAY is very value for money as the rooms are big (as of Japan standards) and it offers a great view of Fuji from the room window and rooftop. The Japanese or sandwich breakfast options were great. It is a 15 min walk from the train station which is manageable. For transport to the train station, they have fixed vehicle trips at 9am, 9.30am and 10am. It is recommended to book them the night beforehand as there are only spaces for approx 7-9pax. All in all, I would definitely come back again if I were to go to Kawaguchiko.

Friendly service. Excellent amenities including shuttle to train station and breakfast. Beautiful view of Mt Fuji from our room and rooftop. If we hadn’t stayed here we would have missed seeing Mr. Fuji since it was cloudy and raining. We happened to look out our room window to see a glimpse and rushed to the rooftop to see its wondrous sight.

We stayed here after driving to see Mt. Fuji, it was a delightful and friendly hotel. We had the family room with tatami and enough room for the 4 of us, not cramped for a typical Japanese hotel. The breakfast could have been better, it was pretty much a set menu--Japanese-style or Western-style of sandwich which I didn't care for. They had parking lot for our car so it was convenient. Staff was friendly and gave out souvenir keychain and snacks after we checked in. Close to local restaurants and the lake. Highly recommend!!

This property exceeded our expectations! We were greeted with a welcome treat, Our room was lovely, the location was ideal, and breakfast was delicious. They even helped us store our luggage and rent bikes to enjoy the beautiful day.

Hotel is nicely situated and comfortable. Staff is attentive . However the room and bathroom smell like an open sewer and the hotel has a tinge of sewer smell everywhere. Our room stench was very bad and unfortunately spoilt the feeling of the hotel.

Initially, it wasn't easy to speak with the staff as we do not speak Japanese. The rooms were a little worn down with stained carpet. When we asked for help after we checked in, the team was very responsive.

The shower in room 102 smelled of sewage. At first I thought we just needed to leave the vent on but after the first day it was apparent that it was something that could not be fixed as it was coming from drain and would only stop if water was going through to block it. By the time we figured it out we already checked out. For the price paid for the large room it was definitely a poor value and I would expect cleaning staff to identify issues when preparing the room.

So glad we stayed here. The twin rooms had 2 queen beds. Mt Fuji view rooms were excellent. Ours had a tatami mat sitting area. The view of the mountain from the roof was amazing!! Can walk from the train station about 15 minutes. Taxis were lined up so chose to walk. Very clean. Kind staff. Highly recommend!

The hotel was OK, but the rooms are pretty terrible. The beds are very, very hard. Our room (103) had broken lights and the toilet smelled like the sewer. The humidity was also very high, like high enough for the clothes we had on to be damp. It was nice having a restaurant on site and the food was completely adequate. But I was shocked for the beds to be so hard because other reviews said they were comfortable.

Staff were polite and helpful with the check-in as well as answering some questions about transportation from the hotel to the train station. Some areas of improvement. Add 1 or 2 more vans for transporting the guests between the hotel and train station. Allow the guests to set the air conditioning unit to be able to cool the room (we were told that the unit has been set to only blow warm air given that it was late autumn).

Hotel very dated. Although clean and room was a good size, it's in need of a reno. Bathroom very small and big step to enter it. Good location to see Mt Fuji from the rooftop (although no grass & furniture like in the photo). We didn't get a room with a view. Very frustrating transport to get to the town, not much to do around the area, hardly any restaurants open and not many people out walking around at night. Didn't feel unsafe at all but felt like nothing was happening. Breakfast was good. Staying around/closer to the lake would be a better option. We only ended up staying 1 night instead of 2.

She saved the day as a matter of fact made the whole trip worthwhile as I needed to get to the bus on time for my Mt Fuji hike. Give that girl a raise. It's a bit of a walk from the bus station but it wasn't an issue for me. The room was clean. The washer and dryer downstairs came in handy. I was able to use the dryer the morning I left for 100 yen. I would stay here again.

The staff was very unfriendly. There was an extra charge for nearly every single thing. It was not a pleasant experience. Beautiful views of mt Fuji, but that is the case from anywhere in the area.

The staffs were nice. But the shuttle bus arrangement was confusing. When we checked in. we were told that we could not reserve seats for 1000am one as that one was full. Then we reserved the 0945 one instead. After we checked out, we were told that no reservation was found. When we asked, we were then arranged to take the shuttle arranged at 1000.

Amazing staff members, when we arrived it was raining, the ladies helped us carry our luggage from the bus station to the hotel. We were cold and the ladies serves us hot tea, made us feel very welcomed, thank you so much!

Affordable place to stay with great Mountain View of Mt Fuji. 15-min walk from Kawaguchigo bus/train station. 5-min walk from Oogi bus stop for the local Red-line Omni bus. Very clean and well-maintained. Room is spacious. The only thing I think they can improve is breakfast. It’s not buffet style and has limited items of food and drinks. 2 choices are available but the Japanese style breakfast ran out very fast so I had to eat a tuna sandwich.

The unobstructed view of Mt Fuji is unbeatable. It’s also walkable to all major main attractions and bus stop is not far away. But it will be some walk from train station if you have huge luggage. Breakfast is simple but delicious. A lovely stay!

Excellent hotel located on a quiet street. About 25min walk from train station. Fairly new hotel with nice staff. There is a large market about 15min walk. Restaurants are also within walking distance. Limited breakfast, either Japanese or Western sandwich. Dinner is also limited with beef don or ramen. Half the rooms will have great view of Mt Fuji. Free morning shuttle service to train station. Will stay there again in future.

I think HAOSTAY is very value for money as the rooms are big (as of Japan standards) and it offers a great view of Fuji from the room window and rooftop. The Japanese or sandwich breakfast options were great. It is a 15 min walk from the train station which is manageable. For transport to the train station, they have fixed vehicle trips at 9am, 9.30am and 10am. It is recommended to book them the night beforehand as there are only spaces for approx 7-9pax. All in all, I would definitely come back again if I were to go to Kawaguchiko.

Checkin was efficient & well explained. Provided with a code to access room. No key. Pleasantly surprised on entering the room with great view of Mt Fuji from the window. Room very comfortable with 2 beds, a separate sitting area Japanese style, kettle with amenities available from reception. Staff were very good & very attentive to requirements. Access to a rooftop area to admire Mt Fuji. We were lucky with clear days. Breakfast was included with my room - either Japanese cuisine , which was very tasty or international - egg & ham sandwich. Coffee, tea , juices are available. Ate at the restaurant which had a limited menu of 2 items. The ramen was very tasty. Hotel is approx half hour walk from kawaguchiko station. Also a short walk to the lake. Restaurants in the locality requiring a walk from the hotel. Bicycles are also available for hire to explore the area. I enjoyed my stay at Haostay & thank the staff for welcoming nature. Would recommend Haostay.

Exceptional view to Mt Fuji from the roof terrace and from some bedrooms. Very helpful and polite staff. The breakfast is not great but is ok. Surprisingly, the hotel restaurant is near the station (15 min walk) but this is ok because the hotel provides transport. The food there is very good. Overall, I would stay in this hotel again.

I mean it is a 3 star hotel… that’s it. Not much else to say. The room was clean and tidy, a bit outdated tho. Breakfast was pretty mediocre but eatable. I think the price was way too high for what you get, but in hindsight everything around mt. Fuji is pricy, so I guess that’s normal.

Lovely location and we were lucky enough to have views of Fuji out of our window. The rooftop viewing area was lovely to sit out on with a shady area for sunny days. Breakfast was two choices but we enjoyed it. We also stayed for an evening meal which was lovely and good value. Room was huge.

The hotel was relatively modern, kept in good order and had a lovely rooftop deck. The staff were very kind and it was very convenient that they spoke English which I wasn't necessarily expecting. They didn't include many amenities in the room and there was no place to get amenities except at the front desk which was closed in the late evening and early morning. It would be nice if they maybe had a little amenities counter that they left out overnight because I didn't investigate which amenities were included in the room until after the desk was closed and then I needed some things that I couldn't get. I appreciate it that breakfast was included but there were very limited options that were preset and you had to schedule your meal time ahead of time which I found kind of stressful. But that might also just be a cultural difference. I think it would be more friendly to different dietary restrictions and perhaps less logistically difficult if they just had a few self service items people could course from. They were willing to accommodate my food issues which was appreciated. These are minor issues that were really more about my personal preference than anything else. It also did seem a little more pricey than other similar properties I stayed at in the area. Although the rooms were a little larger and the property was a little more updated. It's a lovely property and staff were great. Totally a fine place to stay in the area especially if you don't have my same preferences.

Stayed at the watermelon house. It was ok, but musty smell was definitely present, and they had a lot of dehumidifiers running. The echo chamber was a little strange to get used to. Otherwise the bed and the location was very good. View from the patio was amazing. Breakfast was decent and the staff everywhere were nice. For the money, the value was there and would consider staying here again.
