The staff (front desk, dining, cleaning) were so kind and accommodating from check-in to check-out. The room was very nice (shower, bidet, fridge, AC), the gym/pool was good (I didn’t use the pool but it looked relaxing and the gym had enough for my workout), breakfast was delicious, and the hotel is close to the metro and the bus as well as multiple walking destinations. Since there are minimal cars in the area it is also a very quiet area that I felt safe enough to walk around at night. I would go back and recommend to others! :)

Catalonia Born was in the heart of El Born neighborhood. Walking distance to everything and lots of options for restaurants. The pool in the afternoons was a fantastic place to refresh and relax during the hot weather.

First off the hotel views on the roof top for the price are most impressive.The area the hotel is in has to be one of the best in Barcelona and we walked almost everywhere within 10 miles.We had great personal service.Small rooms but that is Europe.The drinks at the bar were made with good ingredients and were good.We loved this great jewel and will def stay there again when we get to Barcelona again!

We booked this place specifically because it says it has air conditioning, but when we arrived they said they only use the air conditioning in the summer. Tried to ask for money back, and they were very rude about the whole matter. The shower was dirty when we checked into our room and the caulk work on the shower was terrible and messy. I would absolutely not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Die Lage ist wunderbar und das Frühstück ist OK. Der Pool auf der Terrasse ist wirklich sehr klein und das Hotel scheint ein Problem mit der Sauberkeit zu haben. Wir hatten leider am ersten Tag eine Kakerlake im Zimmer und an den folgenden Tagen einige Ameisen.

Hallway leading to our room was very dark. Bathroom shower doors had a huge gap 1/2 inch in the door causing the floor to flood. Bathtub would not drain properly. Not the cleanest bathroom. Charged for items in the minibar which we did not use. Some staff not helpful and had absolutely no personality.

Only one electricity outlet (and even that was not close to the bed!, and it only worked with European plugs, i.e., not useful for North Americans). the staff were not warm and welcoming (they weren't rude or anything; but I had expected a more chatty staff who would ask us about our day or talk to us about things happening). The room was very dark, the window was very small and it looked over no where! overall, NOT at all what we expected for the cost we were paying.

We booked a superior double room but actually all that meant was a pair of slippers, a single bottle of water and some toothbrushes, go and a chocolate by the side of the bed at night, soundproof means from outside not your neighbour's noises. The room was the same as a standard double really but nice and clean, good shower. The WiFi was so intermittent we could not really use it. But….. the breakfast was very nice and the location was excellent. It would not be a revisit for us.

This a very good hotel. Rooms are quite small perhaps because it is located in a historic zone, mostly pedestrian. For the same reason it is overpriced comparing other same category hotels. Breakfast is very good. The only problem we had in the six days we stayed was the lock of the room that needed several attemps to recognize out card keys each time we tried to enter the room, although we had to remagnetize these cards sometimes.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. They were very busy but took time to assist us with early check in and getting us transportation when needed. We really enjoyed our short stay. Catalonia Born is very nice, clean and comfortable. Nice atmosphere

At check-in we were told that it would cost us over 16 Euros for the buffet breakfast, and only moved off that when I checked the paperwork to show that breakfast was included in our rate. When we used the shower, it didn’t drain properly. Given the toilet is placed in the shower (really), in order to use it, we had to put towels on the floor while the shower drained. We reported this to the front desk the day after arrival and nothing was done to fix it during our 3 day stay. The telephones weren’t working and the English channels were scrambled. The staff blamed this on the City and said it would be fixed the next day. It never was. Without any notice or explanation, I received a credit card charge for $5.89 even though we didn’t use anything in the bar fridge to account for this. This hotel is not inexpensive and yet the service is very poor.

We actually didn't get to stay there. There was a train strike in Italy and we couldn't get there for the first night of the reservation. The hotel would not work with us and still charged us. The strike interrupted our train from Zurick to Florence. The hotel was rude when trying to talk to them about this.

The staff and the property were amazing. We had such a brilliant stay and can’t thank them enough for that! They cleaned the room daily, staff at reception were very helpful and they were so polite. The hotel is in such a brilliant location! It’s close to the metro and a few landmarks, everything else is walking distance and there is local bars a door or two down which is ideal. Will definitely be coming back here! It was my birthday whilst we were away and they looked after us with a little something which definitely made the holiday. Thank you again to everyone at Hotel Catalonia Born!!

the staff was absolutely wonderful. Friendly, helpful, knowledgeable. Natalia specially a joy, Ramona very very professional and pleasant. Also Roger and Guillén extremely helpful and attentive. This our second time at a Catalonia hotel, but it will not be our last.

We really enjoyed our 4 night stay at Catalonia Born. It was very conveniently located, so we walked everywhere, Lots of restaurants, bakeries and grocery nearby. Despite being central it was very quiet for sleeping, and the pool was great after all our walking and sight seeing. The room was clean, well equipped and the people at the hotel were very friendly and helpful.

Terrific location for sightseeing & exploring the city. We walked all over the city from the hotel, inc. along the seaside promenade. Staff was friendly & accommodating. Breakfast was good. Close to top-notch restaurants. My only main complaint is that the tub was very slippery, so we had to put our floor mat on the floor of the tub to keep slipping. And I had to hold the on button of the blow dryer while I was using it which was awkward.

Catalonia Born is clean, comfortable, has a very good breakfast, and the staff is exceptional. It's location is easy walking distance to dinning and shopping. And Passeig de Lluís Companys (park) is directly next door for exercise and relaxing. The hotel is located in El Born neighborhood, which is a medieval area adjacent to the ancient Roman Gothic Quarter Barcelona. Overall, Catalonia Born is very a enjoyable stay and gave us all we needed for a great experience in Barcelona.

We were very disappointed with Catalonia Born hotel. We were given a room that smell like sewer and they were well aware of this kind of issues with some rooms in the hotel and the receptionist confirmed it. She said “The hotel is old and some rooms have that issue”. However, there was nothing she could do that night. We had to wait until next day when guests check out in the morning and they can assign us another room. Needless to say we had a horrible night and couldn’t sleep well. Next day, no apologies from management, not even offering free breakfast as compensation for the unsuitable room they put us in and the inconvenience we went through all night. Thank God, there was an available room without that issue. This is,Truly, unacceptable, specially, when we had paid a high tag price. The area where the hotel is located, Born, is very unsafe. We were assaulted and robbed on the third night we were there, just a block away from the hotel at 6:30 pm. We spent 3 days of hell reporting the assault, going to the district police and even to Court, as we caught the robber. However, the medallion was passed to another member of the gang and hasn’t been found. The hotel staff is aware of these robberies and should’ve alerted us to be careful in the neighborhood as this an everyday pattern. The robbers have tourists as targets, specifically, those staying at nearby hotels. You can see homeless people sleeping on the lateral streets and the refugees watching you like hawks. Be awar

I would rate this hotel as a 2 and a half-star property. Facilities and guest amenities are definitely not 4-star. Not good value for money at €270 a night. Staff members are courteous and helpful. The breakfast buffet is good, plenty to choose from. But the breakfast room is utilitarian.

The service was excellent. Sadly the pool was out of use which we were never informed about at any point during the booking process, only found out on check in - v disappointing. The aircon was broken but as it was February’s wasn’t such a problem but in summer would have been awful, as a result had to have the window open which opened into the terrace where people were smoking so would make the room small of cigarettes- very unpleasant as a non smoker. Overall the room was nice and clean and staff were v good. We didn’t have breakfast as was very expensive and so better value/experience going out for breakfast. The little gym was nice and the location was excellent, very convenient

Great location to many top attractions in Barcelona including the Arc de Triomf and Ciutadella Parc. Lots of shopping and dining options within a few minutes walk of the hotel. Very friendly staff, clean hotel. A very big breakfast with many food options. Great bartenders. Would highly reccomend.
