Colon Hotel Barcelona

The Hotel Colon was excellent overall. However, one of the two elevators was out of service during the 2 days of our stay. That is unacceptable, given the size and slow speed of the other elevator.

Excellent hotel with great service and terrific food at the restaurant. Great location. Only complaint is old, very small, very slow elevators.

Nice property in great location. Could get croweded out by non-guests accessing roof top bar.

Things we liked - best location, best customer service we have ever had, they offered us complementary transportation to the train station. Again, The customer service is 10 stars….. Things we had problems with - no air conditioning available during our visit ( late february ) while temperatures are low this rime of year, there are exceptions like in our case. Our room was very hot, about 70-73 degrees inside. It was very difficult to sleep at night even with the small fan they provided. Another problem is there was 1 elevator broken during the 3 days we stayed, the other one available is very small and was very busy all the time. We had to climb 5 flights of stairs several times. Overall, we gave 5 stars because the staff and customer service was outstanding!!!!!!

Great position, fabulous rooftop bar with a view, breakfast area was lovely. Staff are helpful and friendly, the room we had with a balcony and lounges was really nice and one of the most comfortable beds I have slept in.

Location was perfect for getting around to all the different sites. Breakfast was amazing. However, they do have construction going on and it is noisy. They start at 8am! They reluctantly gave us another room but since the floors are tile, it is pretty much noisy all over. But beautiful decor and loved the square right outside the front doo!

This was my 3rd stay at Hotel Colon and it was another wonderful stay. I love the helpful staff and the great central location in Barri Gothic. We arrived early and our room was ready, which I really appreciated. Our room was located on the 3rd floor that was totally renovated one month ago. Comfortable design room with super comfy bed. Breakfast is great with lots of choices. Roof top terrace has been totally renovated as well and just reopened without the pool.

We have just returned from a 4 night stay at Hotel Colon and wow what can I say!! The hotel is beautifully decorated and it’s situated in a picturesque part of Barcelona right in front of the cathedral, our rooms where spacious and equipped with everything you would need, they where clean and bright, we had a great coffee/tea station, access to a huge private balcony! Dressing gowns/slippers were a lovely touch, and very comfy beds! The Breakfast was wonderful and had lots to choose from, great coffee! the staff were incredibly helpful and kind, shout out to Ivan on the front desk and the lovely doorman who always greeted us with a smile! The rooftop bar is an extra bonus to this wonderful hotel and offers amazing views of the cathedral! overall we had an excellent experience and would highly recommend this hotel.

Parking is arranged for a fee under the Cathedral Plaza and is easy to access right by Hotel front door. The front desk staff was very good and helpful. This is a center of most of the best of Barcelona so parking and then walking while we stayed was best for us. The rooftop bar had good drinks and a great view. They prioritize guests which got us a table with the best view.

I like the location of the hotel. The rooftop bar had a beautiful view. However our 5th floor had a funny smell. Overall it was a good experience.

Outstanding hospitality, excellent location, and exceedingly clean

The hotel room we had was a fair size and the balcony was nice. We stayed on the 5th floor and when you got off the elevator it smelled like sewer back up. The cleaning staff tried every attempt to mask the smell with some sort of spray that further enhanced the disgusting odour. The rainshower button didn't work we didn't report as we had the hand held shower to access. This is a cruise ship hotel as the lobby was packed in the morning waiting for cabs. We ordered one and had to walk to the street as they didn't show up. In the morning. When we went for breakfast they communicated they were full. In essence they should have just advised to wait a moment and clean a table. Menu during the day was limited at the restaurant. Great location in the Gothic area and very active. You can walk to the port and other locations.

Hotel is right in the center of the Gothic Quarter in Barcelona. Very clean. Excellent service by staff. Surrounded by cafes and restaurants. Safe area.

Hotel Colon is situated very nicely right across from the Barcelona cathedral. It's a very happening, touristy area. There are several shops and restaurants around. The hotel and the room itself were nice. The only issue I had was a weird stench that was coming from the bathroom. I was able to manage it by opening the window in the bathroom and closing the bathroom door. If my stay were to be longer, I don't think it would have been possible to stay in that room.

We enjoyed our 3 night stay at the hotel. It’s located right in front of Barcelona Cathedral, close to shopping and restaurants. It can a bit loud at night but it had a relatively good sound proof so we could sleep well. The hotel was very clean and well maintained while the staff was super friendly.

Ich muss sagen im allgemeinen war alles sher gut. Tolle Aussicht von der Terrasse auf die Kirche. Gutes Frühstück alles wo man braucht. Leider hatte dass Zimmer einen einzigartigen Geruch wo nicht so angenehm war. Von irgend wo Kammer der Geschmack ins Zimmer. Wir haben dies bei der Reception gemeldet, aber am Abend war der Geruch noch immer im Zimmer. Wir liesen dann das Fenster über die Nacht offen.

This hotel was in an excellent location, directly across from the Barcelona Cathedral. You can walk in many directions to lots of shops and restaurants. We walked down to the harbor and the beach to enjoy a dip in the Mediterranean Sea. You can hear church bells and when we opened the windows, we could hear the cheers during the Spain/England finals of the Eurocup. Our room itself was quite nice and large. There are double closets with lots of hangars. They had comfy robes and slippers waiting for us. A large bathtub and shower with a rainfall showered and handheld nozzle were very nice (we didn\'t use the bathtub). The bathroom is open to the bedroom, so there isn\'t much privacy if that is important to you. The door to the toilet swung both ways, but when it was pulled out it was very loud. The bed was very comfortable, however when sitting on the edge (to get up) it "groaned" a bit. This isn\'t a big problem for me, but for a light sleeper it might be if their partner gets out of bed while they are sleeping. The personnel at the hotel were very polite, spoke excellent English, and were very helpful. They used the hotel shuttle to take us to the airport which saved us a cab fare. One thing we didn\'t discover until the second day is that there is a rooftop terrace that serves drinks and food. It was lovely up there (but quite windy). It seems if you let them know you are a hotel guest, they will prioritize you for a seat at the edge with the best view.

The location is second to none, and the room was great. The doormen were very helpfull when paying attention but seemed to get lost in conversation amount themselves at times. The front desk staff were always helpfull. I would have preferred a la carte breakfast in the diningroom, rather than buffet style. The bellhop was super friendly. The only real drawback was the rooftop patio bar/restaurant was directly above our 6th floor room and sleep was impossible until after their closing late in the evening and the constant movement of chairs overhead subsided. All in all, the pros outweighed the cons; just have to know what to expect going in.

Lovely location, staff was awesome. However they advertise as having air conditioning in all rooms, but ours was disconnected, probably for the winter as it as early Nov. it was quite warm, and noisy to leave windows open in early evening. I’m assuming a/c not operational because of season, but that was a big inaccuracy in the listing and I would have not considered had I known that.. Otherwise a nice location and staff.

everything about the hotel and area were fine, its just that the walls are paper thin, you can hear everybody around you, upstairs neighbors were up until 2:00 in the morning, couldn't get any sleep, you really need to update the insulation in your buildings. won't be staying here again.

Fantastic Hotel in a great location! Rooms are large by European standards. Great neighborhood. Rooftop bar an added nicety! Highly recommend.

We had to call 2 or 3 times for things that should have been done during daily housekeeping …clean towels, coffee. Room was a strange design…open bathroom with toilet in a glass enclosure….see thru! Big room but Very strange layout! Shower leaked onto floor badly…we reported it and they said it had been reported before.

The staff were wonderful. Loved our room overlooking the Cathedral.

Over all we had a great stay at hotel. Only true downside (which isn’t hotels felt) is noise from street was loud, we had been traveling so we were pretty exhausted and the street noise kept us up, tell wee hours of the night. We paid for the breakfast buffet, I would return just for that it was fantastic. One waitstaff member seemed bothered over guests but every other staff member throughout the hotel was helpful and kind. Maybe she was just having an off week. Staff was very accommodating to holding our luggage before and after check out. We had a wonderful stay and hope to stay again.

We spent a few days in this property and we had an ok experience. We wouldn't booked it again. The staff is not trained to give great customer service. The check in and check out process wasn't pleasant. The door staff changes constantly so they don't recognize you easily therefore are always questioning if you are a guest which is very uncomfortable. I would rate it as a 3 star overpriced property.

This Hotel was the perfect spot for preparing for an upcoming cruise. Every aspect of the hotel was exactly what we wanted. Although all hotel staff was very customer oriented I must highlight Zhor who worked out front handling luggage etc. as being absolutely incredible. He was absolutely awesome on many occasions. Thank you all for a wonderful stay.

Check in was terrible. Room not ready at 2PM check in time. Had to wait a few hours.

Lovely hotel but left hanging at check-in and at check out. Despite having one of their most expensive rooms/suite we were last room to be ready. No one seemed bothered we were just sitting waiting in the lounge despite checking asking several times if room was ready yet. Check out was efficient but ‘booked’ taxi never materialised. As we needed to get our flight we eventually had to get our own. Reception kept saying it will come but in reality taxis can’t be booked in advance. Concierge doorman were little help. There will be hotels at a similar price point with better service. Roof top terrace was nice but couldn’t charge to room so had to use cash. Thankfully had done with me or would have had to return to room. Small things but when paying as much should have been better.

Wonderful staff -- very informative, courteous, and helpful. Great location for dining, shopping, attractions. Rooftop bar has the best view of the Barcelona Cathedral and skyline. Rooms were spacious and clean.

The hotel itself is very grand and in an idea spot in the middle of the old town However checkin was very poor very slow, for a hotel of that size they should have more checkin staff /terminals available, especially at busy times. There was also a problem with our booking which meant we were moved to a different room for the first 2 nights & didn’t get the room we booked (which was fantastic) until the last night. Only 2 very slow lifts as well

Ivan and Leti at the front desk were amazing. They did everything in their power to help us and were so patient. I believe they both went above and beyond to make our trip memorable. The airlines lost our luggage and their assistance just remarkable.

Great hotel directly across from the Catedral de Barcelona. Convenient to shopping and food. They have a pretty busy restaurant on site. The room was amazing. Stayed with a friend in the family suite/penthouse. We had a terrace with a view of the Catedral, a patio dining set, a double chaise lounger and a couple of chairs. Tall lamps outside for nighttime. Raquel at the front desk was amazing. She was so nice and knowledgeable. Really helped us enjoy our stay.

This is in the heart of the Gotic area, everything is walkable from here, there are train and bus stations that are close by if you want to go around the city. There are so many places to explore just in the Gotic area alone and it's also filled with great restaurants.

Centrally located to everything I wanted to see and do. Great little restaurants with in walking distance too. Felt safe despite all of the warnings about pick pocketers. Directly across from cathedral Barcelona. In vicinity to La sagrada Familia. Taxi ride available outside of hotel. Very convenient. Barcelona was beautiful!!

This property is a four star hotel, with a wonderful and friendly staff. It is located in a very central location, next to the Cathedral. Walking distance to La Barceloneta, a short distance on taxi from La Sagrada Familia. Various shops and restaurants to choose from. The Chocolate Box had delicious pastries and coffee. The hotel has beautiful views of the cathedral although we were not given a room with a view because we checked in very early and there were no views available. The room however was very spacious, and comfortable. There were four rooms, one for closet, one for a small sofa bed for child, one with a king size bed, and the last one is a big bathroom. We really enjoyed the room comfort and would stay here again but will ask for a room to the city view.

Perfect location to experience the Cathedral and shopping in the central city.

Be aware of pickpockets in the vicinity, especially around Plaça de Catalunya. While the hotel has good security, Barcelona, like other tourist destinations, has pickpocketing issues. Stay vigilant, keep your belongings secure, and avoid displaying valuables openly.

Property is well located facing the local Cathedral, however, you must take extra precautions when carrying valuables, especially exposed jewelry early in the morning when the sidewalk in front of hotel is practically empty and the local pickpockets are the most active. Unfortunately, we learned the hard way when our friend was relieved of an expensive necklace, in a flash.

I stayed at Hotel Colón for four days with a friend, and we had a wonderful experience. The location is unbeatable, with shops, restaurants, and the metro all within walking distance. The rooms were comfortable and well-maintained, providing a cozy retreat after a day of exploring the city. The roof top bar view was simply stunning. As for the drinks, they were just okay—nothing special, but the incredible view more than made up for it. Would highly recommend!

Amazing hotel! My wife and I stopped off in Barcelona for one night while on a trip for her birthday. We were on a cruise and had just one night before going home. The hotel, staff and all amenities were amazing!!! The central location, roof top restaurant and bar and views from our room were incredible! Will definitely come back and stay!
