Really excellent place to stay in the heart of the city even with all the construction. You can walk just about anywhere from here including the beach, multiple cathedrals etc. The staff was super helpful and friendly, the daily breakfast spread was fantastic in my opinion. The 30 minute per day per guest spa room was a great addition and a really good way to start or end your day. Would definitely stay here again!

I love this hotel and have been many times and one of the reasons is because of the roof top pool and bar but once again they didn’t open the roof top bar and blamed it on the weather when it was dry and got it’s just ridiculous especially when there was only 20 people up there altogether using the pool and when I asked them why it wasn’t opening at night so I could say my Australian friends I was told because of the weather which is ridiculous there was no rain it was hot. There was not even a breeze.

Well located just off La Rambla. Very clean and excellent staff I knocked a star off because the roof top bar and pool area was closed as was the steam room. I understand things need refurbishment or can breakdown but we where not informed of this when booking

Thoroughly enjoyed everything about Hotel 1898! We were there during the power outage and the staff went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of. Spent time in the spa (30 minutes per day per guest) and enjoyed the experience. Breakfast was amazing, rooms were very comfortable, and staff were always very pleasant. Would definitely stay again!

Room was clean and exactly as advertised. The spa was amazing (you get 30 minutes free/day with a reservation. But the staff was great and if it’s not too busy you can stay longer) The terrace on the roof has absolutely breathtaking views. Perfectly situated near shops and restaurants

The wifi of the hotel did not work at the gym. I asked whether the spa area had a separate wifi but no one at the reception knew/could help. Gym was very small and inside the spa area so aromatic scents from the spa filled the gym. Spa is only available for 30mins per day for hotel guests and must be booked in advance. The room was very clean and comfortable, specifically the bed (sheets and pillows were particularly soft and comfortable). However, while the room had a kettle it did not have an espresso/coffee machine. The lobby and other common areas of the hotel were clean, well kept and comfortable to spend time in. There were building works in-front of and near the hotel (as well as demonstrators with mega phones yelling at the workers and customers of the nearby Carrefour grocery store) so keeping windows open meant a lot of noise from the outside. Otherwise the location is excellent! Hotel is located centrally making it easy to get to all the best shopping areas and sight seeing locations!

Hotel is in a great position for exploring Barcelona. The only downside was that the pool wasn’t available. While that wasn’t the hotel’s fault as Barcelona has a drought problem, it did take away from our enjoyment as the pool was one of the reasons for booking. A boutique hotel without a pool would probably have been a better choice for cost. However the position is excellent and I would be happy to book again.

The employees were very kind and the service was great. The location is also the best. The rooms are nice but I had a higher expectation. A few power outlets on weird locations, no wall hooks to hang your jacket or pants. The tv is too slow. The rooftop and the Turkisch hammam were also closed due to renovation.

We turned on the AC and there was a foul sewer smell that permeated the room. It was late at night and we tried to call the front desk but the room phone did not have any directory and we couldn’t find information on how to dial the front desk. We were concerned that the fumes were noxious so we slept with opened windows until finally we closed them because of loud noise from the Rambla. The next morning upon checking out the front desk was unapologetic and lectured me about where I should have found the front desk number. The room was otherwise nice but did not have complimentary bathrobes and there was no carpet which seemed odd. It would not recommend this hotel for the price.

It was smelling good in the bathroom after shower or using sink. Weird sound from plumbing after using it. It was smelling the same thing at the library. We have been to the rooftop and realize that one area was under repair...and it was the same smell. Something clear, something is wrong in the plumbing of this hotel. The worst place for me in 2025.

Really loved the spa here and would recommend this hotel but a bit upset that they chose to be very unaccommodating. I booked a reservation and unfortunately, my flight was delayed and got in the next day. I requested a refund for the day and extended my hotel stay by another day, which meant they truly didn’t lose any money rather than be accommodating they charged me for the day that I wasn’t there and twice I reported seeing roaches in the room. Nothing was offered. Nothing was taken off the bill and for this reason, I was quite upset. It is a lovely hotel the staff and all the concierge were very friendly. The spa is amazing, but the fact that they did nothing to accommodate any of the inconveniences would make me think about staying at the property again. in addition tried to use the bathtub and the stopper didn’t work reported it. No one came up. Needed an iron and additional towels weren’t left. Had to make three calls before they were brought up There is an Excellent ! There is an excellent rooftop with a beautiful view and accommodating cabanas. A $25 definitely wouldn’t recommend their restaurant as the breakfast is extremely limited however, right on the corner is one of the best restaurants called Honest Greens. It is very convenient very walkable safe area easy to catch transportation near public transportation and a great location. However, at this time, I would have to make a recommendation for other hotels in the area that value their guest a bit better.

Beautiful hotel, friendly staff, and felt very secure. Was warm in our room & thermostat didn’t work to adjust. Called desk & they controlled it on the computer. They were nice and accommodating, it’s just more convenient if you can adjust yourself. Also the tub/shower was extremely slippery & high edges so was difficult getting in & out.

Wonderful hotel in a great location. Walked everywhere in the Gothic Quarter and to the great market. Our room was beautiful with a private balcony and the most comfortable bed. Will definitely stay here again on a return visit to beautiful Barcelona.

Hotellet i sig är väldigt fin och personalen mycket service minded och hjälpsam. Ett stort minus är att de håller på att bygga på La Rambla så det är omöjligt att komma till hotellet med bil om man följer google maps. Ett annat minus är att metro kommer var femte minut och och hela huset skakar samt att livet på la Rambla börjar klockan 5 på morgonen som hörs in i rummen.

The good stuff - the reception staff are very welcoming and helpful, they make you feel welcome. Location is great, you are within walking distance of everything Barcelona has to offer. The not-so-good stuff - hot water in the showers was nearly non-existent, and getting in and out of the showers themselves are an accident waiting to happen. Wifi in the rooms was hit and miss, definitely nothing you could count on. The pool and spa area are beautiful, but require reservations for 30 minutes at a time. The pool is not heated, but once you get in it’s fine. Really cool stainless pool lining and brick design. It would be awesome except the staff that you check in with treat you like they are doing you a favor to let you in. Less than hospitable and not welcoming at all.

Overall, a great hotel and I would stay here again for sure! Staff was AMAZING (incredibly friendly and helpful), the hotel itself is very nice, very high-end, great amenities and really cool decor/vibe. Room was spacious, clean, and super comfortable bedding and sheets. I had a room with a balcony overlooking Las Ramblas and it was noisy. That didn't bother me at all, but someone else may find that unacceptable. Just a heads up if you're a light sleeper or want to be away from the late-night noise.

Our only complaint is the noise from La Rambla at night. We changed rooms and the problem was solved.

Nice hotel as structure with a nice spa but the employees of the hotel are not nice, not cooperative, specially the peoples taking care of the breakfast. If ask a cappuccino you can wait even 15 minutes. The spa peoples are instead very kind! My room was small with a real tiny window, so room was very dark. This morning i asked for a taxy and they invited me to walk on the street for looking for a taxy by myself. Honestly all together makes this hotel (that is supposed to be 4 stars superior) a place where to do not come back.

Oh my word...this property was AMAZING!!! We had just disembarked our cruise ship and wanted to drop our luggage to explore Barcelona. We called the Hotel to ask if this was a possibility and were given wonderful information about what taxi's to use and how long it would take to get there. When we arrived we were greeted by the night shift who rolled out the red carpet and made us feel very taken care of. They gave us a map with the bus and metro stops circled and explained about the cost of the tickets...we stayed until their breakfast buffet opened and were definitely NOT disappointed. Fresh squeezed juices, fruit and a multitude of meats and cheeses along with fresh pastries. The Hotel sits on La Rambla and puts you in the perfect position to experience Barcelona on foot and using their bus and metro. Our room was wonderful and the staff were amazing. When we were discussing transport from the Hotel to the airport we were told they had a contract with a private car company. That was the most amazing ride to the airport. If I find myself back in Barcelona this Hotel will definitely be my go to.

We spent three unforgettable days to start our honeymoon at Hotel 1898. When we first arrived, we were greeted by Marta with a warm and welcoming smile. She was genuinely happy for us when we told her of our recent wedding and she made a great effort to rush the preparation of our room, even though we had arrived well before the usual check in time. To our surprise, when we were escorted to the room we were surprised with Sparkling wine on ice, cake, a sign and inflatable heart balloon on the bed congratulating us on our honeymoon. It was a beautiful gesture and such a WOW moment for us. For the rest of our time at the hotel, we felt like part of the family. We were given special private access to their majestic underground spa (champagne on ice again!!!) and served welcome mimosas each morning at their buffet breakfast. We cannot overstate how much we enjoyed our stay at 1898 and we will be their champions moving forward. So much in fact, that we have already booked our return stay when we return from our honeymoon cruise. The good stuff - the reception staff are very welcoming and helpful, they make you feel welcome. Location is great, you are within walking distance of everything Barcelona has to offer. The not-so-good stuff - hot water in the showers was nearly non-existent, and getting in and out of the showers themselves are an accident waiting to happen. Wifi in the rooms was hit and miss, definitely nothing you could count on. The pool and spa area are beautiful, but require reservations for 30 minutes at a time. The pool is not heated, but once you get in it’s fine. Really cool stainless pool lining and brick design. It would be awesome except the staff that you check in with treat you like they are doing you a favor to let you in. Less than hospitable and not welcoming at all.

Stayed here for the second time. The location is perfect and the staff are even better! They do absolutely their best to make sure you enjoy your stay. We had some sound issues with our room which was solved very quick and in a positive way. Definitely recommended!

I can’t say that I had a good night’s sleep at Hotel 1898. The check-in experience was disappointing. It was very slow, and the check-in assistant seemed to be in a bad mood—more like an immigration officer than hotel reception staff. I was charged a €150 deposit, and when I asked why, I was told it was due to some American tourists overstaying their free spa time and not reporting it to the hotel. To avoid financial loss, the hotel decided to charge every guest a deposit at check-in. I felt this was unfair, as it was not my fault, yet I was still required to pay the deposit. Although the money will be returned at check-out, I was unhappy about being charged in the first place. The hotel is in an excellent location and looks beautiful, but the building feels old. The windows do not appear to be double-glazed, and the city centre of Barcelona is extremely noisy throughout the night. I could hear everything from outside, which made it impossible to sleep properly. I had to wear my AirPods all night to block out the noise just to get some sleep. Great location on Las Ramblas, convenient for Metro access, restaurants, shopping, taxi stand. Staff is friendly and helpful. Just plan on waking up by 8 am, because that’s when the church next door starts the bell tolls every morning. But it wasn’t a problem for us since we had things to do each day there. I would definitely stay here again!

Hotellet i sig är väldigt fin och personalen mycket service minded och hjälpsam. Ett stort minus är att de håller på att bygga på La Rambla så det är omöjligt att komma till hotellet med bil om man följer google maps. Ett annat minus är att metro kommer var femte minut och och hela huset skakar samt att livet på la Rambla börjar klockan 5 på morgonen som hörs in i rummen.

We enjoyed everything about our stay at Hotel 1898. The location on La Rambla is within easy walking distance of many important landmarks but he hotel is extremely quiet once you’re inside. The room was huge and cozy at the same time - loved the absence of carpeting on the floor. The staff were efficient and friendly, and breakfast was delicious, as was the light menu jn the bar. A pleasant surprise was walking back from the hotel after a concert at the nearby Palau de la Música Catalana and finding a live jazz duo playing in the lobby. Highly recommend this hotel. Heads up - there is a major construction project along La Rambla, and while our taxi driver could have dropped us off right at the hotel entrance which is actually on the side street (Carrer del Pintor Fortuny) around the corner from La Rambla, he was inexperienced and didn’t know where it was and therefore dropped us off (with all our luggage) on La Rambla which wasn’t easy to navigate.

Very disappointed that the pool wasn’t working during our stay as it was a main reason we booked hotel 1898. I understand there is a drought, but you should notify guests ahead of time. Did not care for our room at all. We checked in and we’re told we were “upgraded”. The room looked just like the one I booked though - the room is SO noisy! You here EVERYTHING happening down on the street below which is the back side (not even facing La Rambla). I didn’t sleep a wink the entire stay. We opted for the breakfast and dinner package with the room and the food was not edible, especially the dinner options…. And 4 euro for water..c’mon. As if we didn’t pay enough to stay at your hotel. Lastly, there is mold in the bathtub. Wouldn’t stay again.

There was a machine with pods but no explanation of how yo use it, staff were not very helpful when we asked. The terrace room we paid for.did have a terrace but no view as walls around it were too high so we did not use it, the pictures of that room were misleading. Room very clean, maid service every day. No.noise despite being next to la ramblas.

Lovely stay at Hotel 1898. We were celebrating my birthday and were welcomed in the room with a bottle of Prosecco and cake, which was a lovely surprise. Hotel is very clean and has a great bar on the roof terrace. Lovely people staying there as well. Ideal hotel for couples and solo travellers. Would definitely stay there again.
