The hotel was fine. Nothing that made it stand out. Opt for the big room upgrade as the other hallways are noisy. The rooftop “pool” is a joke. It’s 2 feet deep at most.

Very beautiful hotel in art nouveau style by famous architect. Fantastic breakfast, delicious dishes and drinks at the rooftop terrace, where there is a small pool, which is lovely to use after a day in the hot city.

Staff have been lovely and made the stay even more enjoyable and stress free. Have loved using the rooftop pool and bar. Hotel is walking distance to lots of shopping areas and restaurants/ cafes. Would definitely stay here again.

Very Nice hotel, with quick access from the Las Ramblas and Metro. Nice roof top bar, the pool is quite small, however a good area to hang out.

The hotel was unique with its artwork and decorations. We enjoyed drinks on the roof terrace. Very relaxing. Breakfast had a wide variety of choices and thr staff was very accommodating. Quiet too.

Incredibly central location, just minutes walk from La boqueria and a nice room with comfortable bed and good service. Nice rooftop bar but the pool isn’t really a pool, more of a large plunge pool.

This hotel was excellent. Room was cleaned to perfection daily, staff were friendly, roof top bar was very relaxed and again with lovely bar staff. The location was superb, right off La Rambla and only and stones throw from Liceu metro so very accessible. Would definitely stay here again!

They have a fly issue. There were hundreds of dead flies by my window floor, and 30 or so flues flying around in the net. They have flies dead and alive flying around the bar....

The common areas such as the lobby and the roof top were excellent. The room looked tired with peeling laminate floors, dirty grout in the shower stalls. The windows in the room were frosted so you count even see outside. The staff was great and very helpful. I just didn’t think it was a 4 star hotel

This hotel would get a better rating if it were a 3 star hotel. However, I expected more from a 4 star! It has its pros and cons. The entrance lobby and breakfast area are beautiful, however we were not a fan of the dirty corners in the shower. Area is okay, near many shops and restaurants but we were hyper aware when walking around the smaller streets at night. The staff was great, just wish the hotel was cleaner.

Unacceptable and unsettling for a four star hotel: We requested accommodations in advance, but none were available. The AC wasn’t working, and the only room offered wouldn’t be ready until the next day around 1 p.m. On our final day, we also found a cockroach in the room, which was unacceptable. Overall, the cleanliness and maintenance did not reflect a four-star standard - and no compensation was granted either.

Our family of nine stayed here for three nights. The hotel is beautiful and clean. Has two elevators, nice terrace with a pool. The rooms are spacious, comfortable beds and clean. Breakfast area is beautiful! Food was delish! Within two minutes walking to Las Ramblas and La Boqueria market is within five minutes. Will definitely stay here again.

Our room was clean, but the bed seemed very uncomfortable, and the room was very small. The bathroom, however, was a nice size, the lobby seemed very outdated, not comfy seating and very dark and dreary. The communication issues from the front desk was not always easy. We were given misinformation on several occasions sent in wrong directions to restaurants that weren’t even open. We felt that we were unsafe and the hotel did not give us much guidance. We also felt the area was not as safe as we would’ve liked. The breakfast, however, was very nice and the people serving the breakfast were also very hospitable.

The staff were very friendly and the hotel was very clean. The breakfast was very good and offered plenty of choice. The room was very dark and unfortunately very worn, the window could not be closed properly and the view was into a littered courtyard. The bed was very uncomfortable with a bad mattress. The taps in the bathroom did not work properly. The roof terrace is also without any view and useless except perhaps for smokers.

Amazing stay. Staff was very attentive from reception to roof top restaurant that breakfast dining room. Breakfast Buffett was top notch with many options including an order menu. Beds were super comfortable. 1/2 of the hotel is under renovation but you would never know it as it’s so well concealed & you could not hear any construction noise. Very centrally located off the main road so noise was not an issue. Rooftop pool is an added bonus for taking a quick dip after a long day of sightseeing

Hotel and staff were pleasant and accommodating. We apparently were given an “upgraded” room; not sure what the upgrades were?? Seemed pretty standard/basic. The shower door (on the top) does NOT stop water from leaking onto bathroom floor; was necessary to “mop up” a significant amount of water, no matter how carefully we tried to use/angle the shower head. Bed was satisfactory; pillows a little strange…very narrow. The hallway leading to our room was extremely dark; very dungeon like! Value for $$ ……questionable.

We had to wait over 5 hours in the lobby for our room to be ready. Unfortunately, a knee injury prevented spending time walking. We were ignored. Subsequently, other people were being checked in before us. When we questioned why, they said they paid more for their rooms than we did.

The hotel is a great location and most people would enjoy the stay. We didn’t. We booked months in advance and asked for a room with twin beds. We were given a room next to the building area that was noisy all the time. We found this out when we went to our room. We asked to change but there were no rooms (hmm). We were given a free breakfast but given that we paid such premium rates it was terrible. The hotel staff didn’t seem to care. The final insult we booked a car to the airport and were to 30 euros, at the airport we were charged 50. i stay in hotels around 70 nights a year, all over the world. This was the worst service by a long way. It spoilt what should have been a great trip. But honestly i don’t think the hotel will care. They got there money.

Honestly if you just want a clean room, then this hotel is good. Staff were all very entitled and hard to communicate with. Wi-Fi was extremely slow or didn’t work at all, which affected my work. I ordered coffee to the room and after multiple attempts to contact room service, reception assisted and they charged me 5 Euros to bring the coffee to the room (without informing me of this fee.) Once I started checking the charges before checkout, receptionist raised his voice and at that point all I wanted was to leave. Defenitely not 4 star quality, unfortunately.

Great location, and decent breakfast. That being said, the Expedia VIP perk was very disappointing. We checked in and were told we were getting 2 "Welcome Drinks" (at other VIP hotels I've gotten cocktails, so I had no reason to believe otherwise). We even received a sheet for VIP Expedia Access which said "Welcome drink (or soft drink) on the terrace". When we went up to the bar to redeem our drink, we were told we could only get soft drinks, and when I asked the front desk about this, they said the sheet had a "typo" and the OR should have been deleted. This was disappointing and I wish the hotel had been upfront about this on their Expedia page as the price of 2 cocktails is very different than 2 pepsi's. And this was part of the reason why we chose this hotel over another. We also came back from exploring the city one day to find our room was unlocked (we assumed maybe housekeeping made a mistake, and nothing was stolen but that is still a jarring thing to come back to in a foreign city). We brought it up with the front desk who said they would look into it, but never heard anything about it again.

Very well kept property however walking down the small alley way at night where the hotel is situated did not appear safe. Also, a $50 charge at checkout was levied against us, something not mentioned when we booked with Expedia.

This is not a 4 star hotel - maybe 2 or 3 stars. Location is good, close to La Rambla and Liceu metro. There are much better areas in Barcelona to stay, the alley where the hotel is located smelled of urine and was incredibly loud - we happened to be visiting when there was construction at all hours of the night and could not sleep through the jack hammering. On the first day of our stay, we had someone enter our room at 9am without knocking or any warning. It was so alarming and uncomfortable, we were jet lagged and trying to get adjusted. No sound proofing internally, could clearly our neighbors and others walking by in the hallway. Do not recommend.

We were told numerous times by 2 sets of policemen that the area that this hotel is in is the worst area as far as crime in Barcelona. We were not aware of this when we booked. This was very concerning to us and I wish we had known that beforehand which is why I wanted to write this review. The hotel was okay, but the area was quite the opposite!

We were greeted by the front desk and immediately told to pls let them know if there was anything we needed to make our stay better. Our luggage was taken to our rooms, our doors were opened for us and they had a great breakfast. Room and bathroom were very clean. Nacho from the kitchen staff was so friendly and created the best omelet ever. They were all very nice. Hotel has great history dating back to 1904, and you can still see that charm represented in their decor.

It was close to the Rambalas but close enough to enjoy all the streets, bars, restaurants etc. Would definitely recommend this to anyone who is considering a city break or longer. Lots to do using the hotel. Very good facilities, the breakfast choices were more than enough, even for those who have a large appetite.
