The location of the resort is wonderful and we had an amazing view from our balcony. The unit was also very spacious. We had dinner at the resort which was very good. The downsides were the room is dated with minimal furnishings but the bed was very comfortable. Also significantly, the phrase Penguin tour is a bit misleading. We stand on a platform on the resort’s grass and hope Penguins come up to the platform area. We are not permitted to enter the beach area where other paid tours go. We stood on the platform 2 nights and never saw a Penguin. If you don’t care about seeing the penguins, it is still a lovely location to stay in. The pool area looks clean and nice too and the views are wonderful.

I was underwhelmed by the discoloured bed base and dirty appearance of the beige- brown carpet. The bed was extremely comfortable, perhaps aged bed base could have been hidden by bed linen. Aged brown Carpet needs replacing. Did not mind the sea rusted out door railings or rusted / aged appearance of the outdoor deck furniture as that is to be expected. I had a slip on ground floor toilet floor tiles when they were damp. I had bare feet at the time. I bruised my 4th toe and had trouble weight bearing for 4-5 days. Probably needs non slip tiles in bathrooms for safety purposes. Restaurant floor manager was supremely attentive and polite- an absolute pleasure to have dealings with. We loved the fact that you provided a washing machine and dryer without charge- with unlimited operational times applied.

The hotel environment is extremely disappointing. Outside the room, the air is filled with a terrible smell because the lawns are covered with animal droppings. It looks like a “green” and pretty grass area at first glance, but the moment you open the door or window, the foul smell hits you. Walking on the lawn ruins the mood completely—your shoes end up covered in filth. When I wanted to cook instant noodles, I found the kitchenware greasy, dirty, and even damaged. There were not even basic utensils like a small knife or scissors. To make it worse, the hotel warns that guests will be fined $35 if they don’t clean the dishes properly. Honestly, how can they expect guests to clean when the provided dishes are already in such a filthy condition? Absolutely speechless.

Highly NOT recommend this hotel to others, $300 for this hotel is extremely not worth, we were assigned the beach room number 3, this room is terrible and extremely dirty and smelly, most of the corner got spider nets and spiders, it obviously didn’t do the housekeeping, toilet board keeps falling to the back when you use the toilet, blackflies are keep flying inside the room freely, we requested to change the room however the male receptionist was so rude and said there’s no one complain before and we are the only one to complain, but I found that there so many peoples complain this hotel, we only stay for one night and we decided to check out very early morning the other day

Surprisingly good. It has it's faults, for example the room had cobwebs in some corners and windows weren't very clean. They also left milk that was 2 months expired in the fridge, and my young child drank it without looking. Luckily no food poisoning. I think the upper floor room we stayed in hasn't been occupied for months as all other occupants were... retirees. So only ground floor rooms were ever occupied. But for us more able bodied we were given a big top floor room with an unbeatable view. I can't emphasise just how good the view is. Everything was very spacious and comfortable. The bathroom is huge and has a spa bath in it. And the highlight is the free penguin viewing at dusk. They have their own staff with red torches to help you view the penguins that come up from the beach and onto the property lawn. I highly recommend this place if you can overlook the minor issues.

We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay here. The views are stunning. You can hear the waves, see some wildlife. It was a great base for us to visit surrounding places with a comfy bed & spa bath to return from our adventures. Great facilities to cook up a meal & relax in the lounge room. We’ll be back!

We had a bottom floor apartment and which was clean and comfortable. The downside was the noise from the upstairs apartment,whenever the taps were being used it sounded like a freight train. This was not so much of a problem through the day, but at night it was very disturbing.

We've stayed at Diamond Island twice now... BEAUTIFUL! Have booked again in October. A quiet spot next to the beach with lovely clean apartments all with outside balconies and courtyards. Well equipped kitchens and large bathrooms. Very comfortable beds. Nature and wildlife right on your doorstep. .

Our ocean view apartment didn’t exactly have an ocean view but the view to the outside garden was nice. Bedrooms were upstairs but the stairs were dangerously designed and taking suitcases upstairs wasn’t a fun task. Apart from that it was comfortable and warm and a free penguin viewing

We were quite late arriving and even though the office was closed, the manager still came out to greet us. The room was very accessible and easy parking. It was clean, roomy and convenient, as well as good facilities. Even though we were unable to get to the restaurant, the menu looked great.

Didn’t realise bedrooms were upstairs and bathrooms downstairs having very bad arthritis I’m sometimes unable to climb up and down stairs Spoke to the manager and he advised us we had a sofa bed in the room l could use and arranged for housekeeping to bring some extra bedding to our unit Nothing was too much trouble for them Much appreciated

Management seemed to have no idea. I was supposably given the wrong keys to the wrong room only to find out the room wasnt even ready so I had to wait at least 1 1/2 hrs . Washing machine and the laundry room was very dirty and the Dryer door was damaged and hard to close. At least this facility was free of charge. there was a distinct lack of privacy in the lounge/bedroom area as the blinds didnt cover the window leaving a gap at least 100mm(which the morning sun shone through) and there were no blinds at all on the kitchen window. Will not stay again.

Property is a hidden gem, rooms not the most modern but very spacious & clean. Lady at check in (Jenny) was lovely & very helpful. Bonus was that we got to see some penguins at night as well, Oliver & Alexandria were wonderful hosts to take us down to see the Penguins.

No restaurant so had to go back into town, which is a drive, for breakfast. Did have cooking facilities but not worth it for one night. Other than that access to own beach was wonderful and rooms were neat, clean and well maintained.

The room was spacious and clean but smelt strongly of block disinfectant..and there were lots of spider webs next to the door. I would have appreciated a table and chairs. The sofa provided was a small two seater and not very comfortable. The outlook is lovely. The restaurant happened to be closed and it's a drive into town. The location is pretty but a fair way out of town. we could have seen penguins at 9.30 but didn't as we've seen plenty of them in the past. Overall I feel we were somewhat over charged.

Disappointing. Its a lovely homestead and the apartments are good. However, it is advertised as a resort and falls short of my expectations of a resort. The description was misleading as there were no dining facilities available including no breakfast. The only resort type item was the price. Had that been adjusted for the reduced service/facilities then I would have been satisfied with my stay. I would like to visit when the "resort" is in full swing.

Great spot, should have stayed two nights as much more comfy than previous spot. Super quiet, penguin viewing evening tour lots of fun plus we saw a bonus bandicoot! Service OK, restaurant shut but it's very close to other venues tho they do close early. Bicheno blowhole worth a look. Was 2m high at low tide on a calm day so must really get pumping at times.

We were not impressed with the restaurant our food was not to our liking mine was overcooked, the pumpkin soup was thick and not worth eating. In all I would rate the meal 1/10.

Bit disappointed that they lied & said that the restaurant was being renovated & was this closed, but then they served a group staying at the resort breakfast, lunch & dinner??! Penguin tour was really a non event too….& you have to pay to join another tour company because they close off beach access for a few hours…

The steak I had in the Restaurant was excellent, tasty, tender and cooked just as Irequested. My wife had fish which she enjoyed. The pillows on the bed were a little too large for comfort and caused a mild neck pain.
