Durley Dean

The hotel was great very big and spacious, wonderful staff including the cleaning crew who did our room. Breakfast was buffet full english with cereals pastries and fruit options. The only down side for our stay was the pool is smaller than the photos lead you to believe and the lift is always busy (but this isnt anything the gotel can do anything about) theres 4 floors and alot of guests. Neither of this things stopped us enjoying our nreak away ..we were on the top floor in a family room and thoroughly enjoyed our stay Theres a lovely walk to the beach and we could even see the sea from our window

Room: We stayed for two nights and had trouble with our room key all the time - so had to keep going up and down 2 floors to reception to get help with this - very time consuming and tiring. There were lots of other guests experiencing the same problem. Bed was way past its best and the furniture mismatched - which in a very small room made it feel cramped and cluttered. I really like the air con that was available and the TV was big, easily seen from the bed and worked well. The ensuite was very tired and mouldy, and the towel rail fell down when we tried to use it. The hotel was Victorian and I would've liked some info in the room about its history and heritage, and maybe some information about Bournemouth and what was happening in the area and things to do etc. Food: We had a meal in the hotel on night two and it was delicious. I didn't like the UHT milk cartons we had in our room as part of our drinks/kettle area. Our towels were tiny, I was expecting bath sheets. Spa Facilities: The keycard to the spa didn't work but another patron let us in. We tried to use the spa pool but it was busy and much smaller than the photos showed. The sauna was working but the steam room was out of order. Parking: it was useful to have a carpark available.

Nice hotel. Big room , great Air conditioning, car parking charge is expensive and no guarantee of a space as it is so small . Very small swimming pool / steam room etc. brilliant breakfast

Room was clean, communal areas need an upgrade. The bench press and leg curl machines not working in the gym. Sauna good, friendly staff.

The Durley Dean had a great location, just a few minutes walk from the promenade and beach. Check-in was easy and the staff were always friendly and helpful. My son and I loved the swimming pool which was a good temperature and a clean and safe environment. Our family room was quite spacious and had everything we could reasonably expect for the price we paid (thank you Tesco Clubcard!). A nice touch that they seemed to keep all the family rooms in the same zone. We all had a peaceful night's sleep. Breakfast was fulsome and delicious: all options available. Great that checkout wasn't till 11 , meaning that we could use the pool again that morning. We paid £15 for 24 hours in the hotel's car park which seemed good value as well as convenient and allowed us to go for a walk on the seafront before departing from Bournemouth, which was looking as beautiful as ever. Would recommend and return.

For the price you pay, you expect a better standard of hotel. It looks very dated and in need of improvements. The bathroom was tiny, as was the swimming pool and car park. There was no fridge in the room. Breakfast was good but items kept running out and you needed to wait.

The staff here are nice. The hotel is very dated. Booked a standard room. It was tiny. Had sloped ceilings and was very cramped. The TV was on the wall at the same height as the bed. Third floor, up in the tiny lift (4 people only) along corridor, down stairs and up some more. It looked out at a brick wall. The room was clean as was the bathroom but ceiling sloped above toilet making it uncomfortable for husband. Went to use the very small pool, the water was cloudy and there was lots of hair visible floating. Changing room was small and some locker doors were hanging off. Parking is a joke. Very limited spaces. £15 per night but told don’t move car as space not guaranteed on return even though you have paid! The breakfast was nice. Good selection. Cost £11 if paid at hotel reception but £16 if paid in restaurant!!!

The parking was very expensive and congested. When we pay, but can't do anything if there is no space after go out and come back. Swimming pool pictures are deceiving to show a big pool but it's very small pool, that too with 3,5ft deep. Steam room out of order, sauna works on and off with no temp control working.

Staff very friendly and helpful from reception to front of house staff. All attentivr and avalible. Evening food was superb and realy well presented. Pool was great as was the steam room and sauna overall great stay

Family room very spacious & comfortable, air conditioning very welcome. Some areas of the room were not very clean, dust & rubbish under bed, radiators, cobwebs on walls & ceilings. Staff very friendly

Stayed for 2 nights and came back with bed bug bites. Messaged the hotel to let them know and no one bothered acknowledging the message.

Booked this for my wife to stay for a couple of nights to investigate the area and meet up with family nearby. The first night, single room was very small (like a cupboard) outdated and dirty. Also lots of noise from other rooms and corridors. A free upgrade the next day to a double room was given after complaining but that room was not much bigger and also very dirty and dilapidated. This is an old, tired and uncared for building and should probably be knocked down. Staff aren't enthusiastic and appear unhappy. There are many more, much better hotels to be discovered nearby. This may well be a four star hotel but reviews are definitely more reliable when choosing your hotel!

For amount of the money I pay for this hotel is too much the hotel is to oled and dog hair every where on the room , breakfast doesn’t have loot of options. Overall Never again in this hotel , 0 star

The room was very small and really could do with a paint. Wardrobe looked and felt like it was going to fall over, remote for TV didn’t work even after changing the batteries, lipstick on walls, mould and cobwebs all over bathroom window. Carpark cost £15 a day but even after paying you was not guaranteed a parking spot. The staff were very friendly and breakfast was good. The pool is very small but nice , changing rooms were clean but showers were dirty and really need updating

Room was very shabby headboard was right next to the lift so everytime the lift was used we heard it. Bathroom was in dire need of repair places of the walls had been filled but not even levelled off. Very dusty and cobwebs from shower screen to shower head which was rusty. Stain on the bed sheet.A very depressing room.Breakfast was lovely and the staff in the dining area were lovely. When leaving noone asked if we had enjoyed our stay and if everything was ok just a bye thank you.

The room wasnt bad, but the bathroom wasnt that clean. When I had a shower, I could see hair of the previous person on the wall. You can tell they dont clean the shower wall. Very noisy hotel too.

The hotel was clean up to the edges, the room was dusty as anything, behind the TV looked never cleaned, the wardrobe on top had a thick layer of dust, the pool was tiny compared to the pictures and when more than 4 couples/families were there it was too crowded. The breakfast and breakfast staff were good. Most staff however looked bored and annoyed to be there, no help towards locations to visit. The hotel needs a big face lift as its very old looking. The bed we had was nice and long but the table was put right at the end of the bed and was a squeeze to pass to use the toilet. The TV control was covered in dirt and was discusting!

I have stayed at this hotel previously and returned as we had such a wonderful experience before. However, this hotel has gone downhill in my opinion. The building is very old and I feel that it could do with some renovations. Our room was dirty, had stained carpets, a broken ironing board. I have a child who often would put his hands in places that people usually wouldnt, and his hands would be full of hair and dust. My child has additional needs so requires a pushchair, in order to get to our family room we needed to go up and down several steps which i would not have been able to do if I was alone. They allow too many people in the leisure facilities at a time. Which meant that we could not enjoy this fully. I believe for the price it was not justifiable. I dont believe that it should be a 4* hotel. The one good thing about this hotel is the location.

Small but clean and tidy room; good shower; pool (again small but functional) and gym. Convenient for Bournemouth centre and beach. Very good full English buffet breakfast. A standout feature is the excellent, friendly and helpful staff! NB - parking is very limited, although there is a (paid) carpark a few mins walk to the west of the hotel.

I arrived early, the staff were super friendly and let ne put my bags in a store room. Chaeck in later on was speedy, all staff i met were delightful. I had room 138. Compact double. The bed was really comfy, great pillows. Decent shower. Didnt get disturbed at all. Would book again

Was a good stay. The bed was very comfy and the room was clean. Only niggle was that the cold tap was warm, the room was a bit dated and the sign posting for rooms could be a bit clearer. Would I stay here again, yes I would.

The best breakfast I have ever had in a hotel - both choice and quality! The hotel was in a very good position for sightseeing. Only negative was the poor air-conditioning in my bedroom.

I had a night here as was staying in another hotel and wanted an extra night. Have stayed before . Room a good size but bed seems to be in the wrong place . Air con is payable unless you stay in superior room which in the current heat is a necessity. Hotel good position for beach /town. Would stay again

We stayed only one night. As hotel very old it self. We were very surprised how nice room was. It was refurbished and so comfy. I think it's very important room condition. Lovely swimming pool area. Small but nice. English breakfast fully loaded that was nice. I stayed with kids and they were surprised - no pancakes. So even I payed for breakfast they had nothing to eat only toast and honey. No pastry like a croissants or similar. Location actually is absolutely perfect. Close to the beach, close to the pier. Hard to get parking and quiet expensive just on the street.

Quite a mixed clientele at the hotel. Our room was large and comfortable with sir conditioning. Breakfast was good and plentiful. Only downsides were parking at £15 per bay but if you moved your car after paying there was a strong possibility you didn’t have a space on return. Our room was quite noisy for a Tuesday night with what seemed to be a disco quite near( don’t think it was in the hotel).

The room was a little small, but it was clean and the bed was very comfortable and the shower was great. The staff were professional, friendly and helpful. The location is very convenient for the town and beach. I would stay again.

I am absolutely shocked and disgusted by our stay at the Durley Dean. After a long day of traveling with our 8-month-old baby, we arrived exhausted but hopeful for a smooth check-in. Instead, we were met by the most unfriendly receptionist I have ever encountered. Lea, at the front desk, did not manage a single smile or welcoming word. She could not explain why I had to make three separate payments (for the room, for my dog, and for the car), and she even confirmed the wrong number of nights. Not once did she say anything along the lines of “enjoy your stay.” I honestly felt a robot could have done a better job. Unfortunately, this was only the beginning. When we got to our room and moved the nightstand slightly (to secure the baby bed barrier we brought ourselves), we were horrified to find what looked like half a plate of leftover chips from a previous guest. On top of that, under and around the bed we discovered a rubber band and a large dog treat — both of which could have been a serious choking hazard for our crawling baby. I was shaken just thinking about what could have happened if my child had found them first. When I called reception to report this, the same unfriendly Lea answered. She didn’t apologize, didn’t express any concern, and simply said “it’s okay.” Her complete lack of care made me furious. I asked for a manager, and thankfully Chelsea came to our room. She apologized, acknowledged the issue, and offered either housekeeping or a room move.

The receptionist Holly was extremely friendly and helpful and a wonderful start to my stay.

Nice visit with friendly staff. Was kept waiting at reception for check-in with others being dealt with who arrived after me, quite annoying. Would revisit.

The reception team seemed not to care for their guests. On arrival during check in, I waited for about 10 minutes as the receptionist was eating and talking to her coworkers in the next room. Also when I need to get something for the room, I need to go down to reception to collect it every time.

40 minutes to check in and rubbish wifi. Shower was cold and room was a nightmare to find with no directions given. Not even offeredleisure facilities. Parking charges are extortionate and decor needs a serious update. Not as close to beach as advertised

Firstly, when we checked in with the night staff and paid for the stay. The next day we were out. I got a call from the hotel that I had an outstanding room charge. I said I already paid which they checked and said it was a mistake on their end. Well, they did not hesitate to cancel my room card before confirming with the guest! - The room was way too small, as well as the bathrooms. Even though they offer different room types. We have a normal double room and the size of the room and bathroom is not acceptable. - The room quality is not great; walls need fresh paint, the carpet is so outdated and old, the doors are dirty and cheap and to get in the room they card system is very outdated and it makes it hard to get in the room when swiping the card. - The bathroom fan was not working and it was extremely small. It felt very suffocating. - Their indoor pool did not look clean. Also, it looks good on the pictures on the website. But it is very misleading. The indoor pool is so small! There was barely any ventilation and the lighting was not great. This made it difficult for guests to relax in the pool because it was full of children playing and shouting. While I don’t mind children in the pool playing. The indoor pool was just not big enough for both parties to enjoy the pool and there is not pool specifically for children as guests had to specifically sign a document to make sure they are being supervised. There is much to improve in this hotel which is the bare minimum.

Had a lovely stay here for our anniversary. Check in was smooth and friendly. Staff were always lovely. Upon arriving in our room the look and quality were great for the price we paid. They had even left us a personalised card. Can't recommend enough.

Perfect for are little family getaway for couple of nights the room fit a family of 5 without having to pay for anther room. 5 min walk from beach lovely coastal views and walking area. Places to eat near by and local shops. Breakfast dinner snack options on the property.

In good position for beach and town

Easy access to the pier

The location is excellent, 5 minutes from the beach and close to the town centre. The hotel was comfortable and clean, the room was spacious and had air conditioning and the hotel had friendly staff who helped us get a taxi back to the train station after our trip. Although on this trip we did not use many of the hotels amenities, we will be back to stay again.

The corridors and exterior of the hotel are dated but the room itself was good value for money and a good location.

The hotel needs TLC in a few areas. But on the whole, it's very clean. The staff are outstanding. The swimming pool is a lot smaller than the photo on the site shows. Get 8 people in it and it's full. If you're vegan or veggie, I would say eat somewhere else. When I asked if they changed their veggie option on the menu daily? I was told NO as all the chef knows how to cook. Room service after 9 pm, the chef can make a sandwich, but cannot do a bowl of Ice cream. (Pathetic) The rooms are small. Also you can hear the room next door, either using the shower or flushing the toilet. It's close to the beach & on a bus route.Breakfast is very good though.

Hotel room was lovely. We decided to have dinner in the hotel on the second night and my friend had salmon. There was a large piece of cling film cooked into her salmon which she realised while eating. They changed it for her and appologised but really felt her meal should of been free

Very nice stay. The restaurant would be much better to be a carvery only as the wait on the a la cartel menu was unacceptable with many requests for our meal.
