Hilltop Motel

We have known this motel since construction in the 1960s. The Wotif review reports guests raving about a delicious breakfast in the property's dining room. When I asked for the breakfast menu and for it be served in room, I was told "we don't do that anymore", and "There are plenty of places doing breakfast in the main street.” We have a nice restaurant!! We had a spa room, there was hair left in the spa. The pocket door into the bathroom was jammed open and could not be dislodged. Clearly this was not important to the owners, who did not apologise at any stage. My wife overheard the owner complaining loudly in a public area that I had the audacity to be displeased. She introduced herself to the owner – but no apology was presented for this rudeness. When we returned to the room the door had been pulled to the closed position, but it would not open fully without jamming. Not fixed, just forced closed, leaving a feeling that the owner had done so spitefully. We persevered with a half size door opening for the remained of our stay rather than deal with the owner. Parking is constricted, a high concrete step can damage correctly parked vehicles. New bedside lights and king size bed, but the GPO is behind the mattress and cannot be used. The outside furniture is old and decrepit. False, misleading and rude proprietors who do not understand hospitality. The owners are reliant on contractors, leisure travelers are clearly an imposition. We will not recommend this motel.

the staff extremely helpful unfortunately the BBQ was not working due to vandalism by guests would definitely stay again thanks to Andrea who went out of her way to assist

Don't let the outside look fool you. The room looked to be renovated. Clean, comfy bed. Park in front of your room so easy to unload/load your items. Easy check in/out. Stayed 2 nights, would stay again

Very comfortable for an overnight stay. Room was clean, bathroom newly renovated and a great shower!! Car parking was a bit tight onsite for a number of larger 4WD’s but manageable. Would recommend.

Arrived at motel went to book in and the manager had parked in our bay, we were told he would move his vehicle but this did not happen until after we unpacked our car. Found the entrance to be very dangerous (being on the hilltop), Room was very small, had no air vent in toilet/shower.

A nice place to stay at but make sure to bring your own cutlery and crockery as they are not provided. Swimming pool needs some work but ok for a quick dip.

Nice motel Friendly and helpful staff .Stayed before like 20 years ago . two chairs in room would be nice ,But fixed that by using an outdoor chair as well . Currently doing renovations will look great with new doors and windows outside , Swimming pool was nice considering very hot when there

Liked the updated unit. Didn’t like the way the fridge door rubbed on carpet. No basic cutlery or crockery ie breakfast bowls, knife fork spoon, bread board. Didn’t like non swivling tap in sink. Space in shower toilet area bare minimal. Only one towel hook. Bath mat gets wet due to lack of space between shower and toilet. We understand that the renovations have been restricted by the building’s original architecture. The location is good car parking spaces either side of our unit don’t really work. Once again space restriction. On a positive note we were very impressed with the managers flexibility in waiting back for us on public holiday.

Property in need of some renovations. Paint peeling off bathroom ceiling. No exhaust fan in bathroom leaving everything wet from steam from a family having hot showers on a cold night.

The people were nice and friendly but the room lacked basic things like a table or desk and seating. There was no room clock or radio. The shower didnt drain properly so you walked water around the room. They had an extra single bed in the room which made the room very small to move around. There were no bowls or cutlery. It was almost like they didnt want you to eat in your room. When i asked about the lack of table or desk they said its ordered but because of covid they didnt have it yet. They did let me grab a table and chair from outside to put in the room but like i said with that extra bed it made the room tiny and hard to move around. The poor lady had to covid isolate as well so their restaurant was closed for half my stay. I probably wont stay there again but the staff were really nice when it came to interactions. One time when i went out i came back to a cleaned room but there were clay shoeprints around the carpet and kitchen bathroom area. The changed sheets had some clay marks too, the sheets were not changed for the last 4 days i overheard one of the cleaners say their driers were broke again. Amazingly they said my room was an upgrade, i dread to think what the original room would have looked like. The rooms didnt have much in the way of noise cancelling every night i could everything going on on both sides of me,making me paranoid to use the TV in case i disturbed others. Im coming back to Broken Hill at Christmas so i will look at other places to stay

This motel ticked all the boxes for us. It was clean, modern and although small room was well laid out to make the room very comfortable.

The room overall was very small for 2 people and their gear. Restaurant is excellent but does not do a hot breakfast, a continental is delivered the night before. Although there is a jug and toaster there are no plates dishes or cutlery for you to make your own. Very clean and great staff. Comfortable bed.

The room was fine, the beds were comfortable. The only issue was the bathroom - it was super small & there was no exhaust fan so it ended up very wet after a shower.

We had 5 nights there, appeared clean on check in, by the 3day and our room hadn’t been made up I complained to staff they said they are doing what management told them. I know it’s not the staffs fault it is the manageress fault. Office never opened and says to ring mobile upon doing so she just says hello so you don’t know if you have Hilltop or not. Housekeeper came to clean cups after day 4 with something that looked like it had cleaned the bottom of a dirty nappy. Took a photo as proof.

The cleaners that were there every day were so friendly and helpful, on the day we were leaving one of them came to our need very early in the morning to drive us down to the railway station to get on our train cause we couldn’t get there otherwise. Thankyou Michelle it meant a lot.

Double booked my room and didn't offer any help. Blamed me for the situation.

The staff from cleaners to manager were always very helpful and cheerful , nothing was to much trouble. The room was excellent new fittings from bed to shower I would stay there again with out any hesitation . The food was of the highest standard and served very quickly by excellent waitress always with a smile

Great spot with excellent kitchen facilities. The only negative is the restaurant didnt open on the 2 days of our stay.

We had a good night here with an excellent meal at the restaurant (we had to book a time because it was busy). It is popular for worker accommodation. The rooms were clean and the bed comfortable.

On arrival we met with a pleseant staff member who checked us in.The room we had was very clean and cosy.One night in our stay my wife tripped on strip between carpet tiles going to bathroom cutting her foot.Telling the staff of this they appolagised and offered conceren The restaurant was excellent.We ate there the four nights we stayed

Old design motel but Reno’s done well, restaurant was excellent beautiful food, medley of oysters and a calamari entree with the best medium eye fillet steak on a horse radish potato mash and a good wine selection. We went at 6 pm a service was excellent.
