Charming but Severely Outdated The Accra Beach Hotel has a charming location and friendly atmosphere, but unfortunately, the overall experience was disappointing due to the outdated facilities and lack of attention to detail. While the air conditioning and Wi-Fi worked well (a blessing in the Barbados heat), many basic amenities fell short. My room had a Jacuzzi tub, which was a nice feature in theory but it didn’t work. There was no microwave in the room, and the ice machine was out of service for the duration of my stay. The hotel lacks a lifeguard at the pool, and there was no music or ambiance in the common areas, which made everything feel flat and underwhelming. Pool chairs were tattered and visibly dirty, which was hard to overlook. Lighting in the room was poor, making the space feel gloomy at times. Housekeeping was minimal beds were made, but no thorough cleaning seemed to take place. A refresh or modernization of both the rooms and the service approach would go a long way in making this property live up to its potential.

A poor start. The room allocated to us had several faults. I think we all expect hot water and functioning shower. No hot water from sink tap or shower. Shower door would not shut. A feature which convinced me to book this hotel, (jacuzzi on the balcony with sea view), was faulty. Sign said "do not use. Under maintenance". Following several conversations with the Reception team/Manager, we were allocated an alternative room the next day. This room was fine. Everything was in working order. This hotel has so much potential. Ideal beachfront location. It does appear to be a bit "tired" in certain areas. Some tiles around the pool area loose or broken. Nice swim up bar in the pool. This was rarely open and, when it was, it was hardly ever staffed! Such a shame. The outdoor showers near the beachfront / pool area need sorting out. Poor design with the flags on grassy area causing mud. Get clean then muddy if not careful. Most staff are polite and friendly. I feel that with a bit of investment and better management of public areas this could be a great hotel.

The hotel is in need of refurbishment, as the rooms feel quite outdated and would benefit from modernisation. The small pool was frequently unclean, and although I requested for it to be cleaned, it took over an hour before any action was taken. The gym is very limited, with old equipment—unfortunately, the treadmill was out of order throughout my entire two-week stay, which was disappointing given the already minimal facilities. While the cleaning staff were friendly and attentive, the service in the restaurant was disappointing, with staff displaying a poor attitude. Unfortunately, the front desk staff were not much more welcoming.

Quite a basic hotel. Well used rooms in need of an update. Our balcony door could not close properly and therefore couldn't lock. There is a lovely pool and swim up pool bar here, but it was closed for maintenance the whole time we were there. They opened the pool - and therefore the bar - again on the morning we were leaving which was disappointing. The hotel is perfectly placed on a beautiful beach, but on this part of the coast it is quite choppy - every day. Quite big waves to fight against to get into the water, and the lifeguard had put the red flags out most days. Not a child friendly beach.

The beach and beach chairs were very nice, as well as the pool. The dining options were good, but there were lots of very nice restaurants within walking distance. The only negatives were that there was no dedicated concierge, there were no daily activities planned like pool aerobics, beach games, etc, and our room was listed as having a hot tub on the balcony and when we arrived we found out there were no working hot tubs on the balconies, they have all been non-functioning for quite a while. This caused us a bit of a delay in getting a room since we switched rooms since our hot tub was not a factor. Other than these things, the rooms were very nice. I would visit again.

Property is picturesque, right on the Rockley beachfront. Rooms were clean. That’s where the praise ends. We stayed twice on either end of a cruise because it was the hotel recommended by the cruise line. Check-in pre-cruise was terrible. Despite advertised check-in time of 3pm, our room wasn’t ready until 8:30pm… 4 hours after we arrived. Hotel manager “compted” dinner as an apology. Check-in post cruise was worse. We arrived prior to check-in time, notified the front desk upon arrival and were prepared to wait. When check in time arrived, we were told that room wasn’t ready. Two hours later and several visits to front desk, we were finally given our room. However, there was no running water: no shower, no sink taps, no toilets. We were told that maintenance had gone home for the day and problem would not be resolved until morning. We finally spoke with the manager, who gave us another room. When we got in, there was no hot water. Do NOT stay here!

Hotel rum smelled muggy. Elevator had a spilled drink that was there awhile. Gym was dirty. Went out and came back and could not get back into my room because the battery on the door lock was dead. Had to wait for maintenance. Staff was friendly and professional.

Enjoyed Accra Hotel. Nice clean comfortable room, beautiful beach with loungers and umbrellas, lovely pool. Walking boardwalk, walk to other beaches, beach bars and restaurants all around. Small store across street with everything you might need. Would stay here again.

The property is beautiful but was remodeled many years ago and really needs to be done again. The beach is in desperate need of new lounge chairs and umbrellas and should have them all laid out for guests instead of pulling them out when someone arrives. This creates artificial scarcity with the chairs which causes guests to wake up early, put their towels on the chairs then leave until the afternoon. There were discarded cups and straws on the beach for days which it seems did not fall under anyone's responsibility to clean up. The water pressure in the hotel was very low and actually was turned off for 3 hours one afternoon for maintenance without notice. None of this was horrible enough for me to suggest avoiding this hotel, just be aware of what to expect.

The staff are not friendly or helpful at all, lighting in the rooms poor, rooms had a very old moldy scent to them , very much needed updating, beds are uncomfortable. Expected more from such a big hotel.

Food options are limited, bed was ok, internet access was limited in the pool area and transportation was accessible. The refrigerator was old and rusty. The balcony had bird mess on it so that was unsanitary to sit on it.

Accra is a great value, and the location and access to beaches, shopping and restaurants is top-notch. Pros: Clean rooms with very comfortable beds. We had an interior room facing the pool, so it was super quiet, and we never heard noise from other rooms or the street. However other guests who had rooms that faced the street said those were very noisy, so choose your room location wisely. The pool area is the biggest plus of this hotel, and the hotel provides beach towels, chairs on the beach, plus a swim-up bar. The hotel offers ease of access to the Boardwalk restaurants, Pebble Beach and Worthington Beach. Bus and ZR Van access to Carlisle Beach and St. Lawrence Bay also very accessible. Barbados is very safe, so we appreciated the public transportation options right outside the hotel entrance, and the many walkable restaurant and shopping options. I highly recommend Wine World too, if you are looking for better wine options than what the various area bars provide. Cons: The older rooms in the hotel need a refresh. Our room had closet doors that came off the tracks, and an unusable safe that kept erroring out even when we had the staff re-set it multiple times. Our front door didn’t lock easily - it required several pushes and re-tries to be sure that the lock engaged. This meant a few times we came back to the room and the door was essentially ajar. Good thing Barbados is safe! I would suggest booking a renovated room. Also, check-in takes WAY too long (2 hrs).

The rooms are not electronically updated, no individual bed lamps, No USB charging ports in the rooms and only one electrical outlet in the room. No clocks, the bathroom exhaust fan had no motor just a cover plate.

WE booked a Sea View Room and had to be moved from Pool View Room. The second room we had had no sea view either, as there was a large palm tree growing in front of the Balcony. The air conditioning did not work properly and was stuck on 17 degrees and wouldn't turn off. we had to take our luggage to our room and then had to move it ourselves across to the other side of the hotel to the second room, which was no better!! I think Expedia should give us recompense for our inconvenience, and, the fact that we paid for4 a sea view room, but not given one on the second attempt. (If we had been staying in Barbados for longer than 1 night then we would have changed hotels).

Property is conveniently located. Its close to the boardwalk which is nice. I didn't like the room. The walk yo the room was not pleasant. The hallway is open to the noise of the generator or whatever that was and open to an unpleasant smell of garbage. Also the jetted tub in the room was not functional. The room was also plain with no artwork on the walls, no desk an chair and the shower was cramped. There was bird droppings on the porch which could've been cleaned before we got there.

The people at the reception desk, maid service, the people who worked in the restaurant were very friendly & accommodating! When my husband became ill (it happened outside of the hotel or restaurant), the restaurant manager did everything to help me to make him comfortable!

This is a mid priced hotel and was under construction all week- rooms and lobby bar. We asked to pay for an upgraded room when we checked the in. The gentleman who checked us in couldn’t find our reservation. When he did find it he said, not so nicely, “0h, you booked through a third party”. He said he had an upgrade for a good price which we would have taken, but when he went to have it approved they turned us down. Told us to check the next day- nothing. The room was clean, but had one dresser drawer, no real closet, a shower that flooded, broken and cruddy soap dish, no towel racks in bathroom and a missing hook from the back of the door. The room was musty smelling and we had to ask for toilet paper twice. The one meal we ate was the first day, breakfast, a Buffett and most of the food was awful. If you like good food this is not the place to eat. In 7 days we never ate another meal here. The staff didn’t tell us there was a boardwalk to some restaurants, instead we walked the first two nights on the treacherous streets, until a server at a restaurant told us to use the boardwalk. The front desk staff gives you beach towel cards and if you don’t use them they get really snooty. The spa was the one bright spot. Excellent, friendly service. Basically, between the poor customer service, poor room quality and mediocre food we cannot recommend this hotel. Also we are seeing increased comments about “ third-party” bookings so we’re going back to booking directly.

Accra is a great value, and the location and access to beaches, shopping and restaurants is top-notch. Pros: Clean rooms with very comfortable beds. We had an interior room facing the pool, so it was super quiet, and we never heard noise from other rooms or the street. However other guests who had rooms that faced the street said those were very noisy, so choose your room location wisely. The pool area is the biggest plus of this hotel, and the hotel provides beach towels, chairs on the beach, plus a swim-up bar. The hotel offers ease of access to the Boardwalk restaurants, Pebble Beach and Worthington Beach. Bus and ZR Van access to Carlisle Beach and St. Lawrence Bay also very accessible. Barbados is very safe, so we appreciated the public transportation options right outside the hotel entrance, and the many walkable restaurant and shopping options. I highly recommend Wine World too, if you are looking for better wine options than what the various area bars provide. Cons: The older rooms in the hotel need a refresh. Our room had closet doors that came off the tracks, and an unusable safe that kept erroring out even when we had the staff re-set it multiple times. Our front door didn’t lock easily - it required several pushes and re-tries to be sure that the lock engaged. This meant a few times we came back to the room and the door was essentially ajar. Good thing Barbados is safe! I would suggest booking a renovated room. Also, check-in takes WAY too long (2 hrs).

Rude front desk agent providing me with one of the worst check-in experiences I've ever had in a hotel! After 22hrs traveling, I arrived at the Accra Beach check-in desk ready to check-in and go to bed. I walked up to the lady at reception and conversation went something like this: Me: Hey, Good evening, I'd like to check-in? CSR: Good evening, What is you name? Me: Stated my name CSR: What? Me: Stated my name a little louder CSR: No Response (Stares blankly at me. Check-in was slow, room was not ready until 2.5 hours passed checking in time. Bar service is a bit slow, I mainly used them used them to get ice and mixers. Overall, I would consider staying here again due to the location which is near the airport (20-25 minutes away), close to many shops and places to eat. The beach and umbrella/chair service was great. You are able to walk to huts offering food and drinks. The cleaning staff did a great job cleaning the room. Check-out group was much more efficient and friendly. Getting taxis to this location was easy.

5pm room wasn’t ready. Building is dated and tired. Air conditioning stopped working one night. Room keeping were late everyday and we were back to our room twice prior yo cleaning so we just got new towels w/o service. Pool was out of service for four days. Having them agree to an 1.5Hr late checkout was a hassle after all that. Restaurant breakfast is $36 US for a buffet. The beach is awesome. White powder sand, emerald warm water. The area has several nice restaurants within walking distance. (Champers, Bubbas sports bar, Tiki Hut, Blakeys live music, Tapas, Worthing Square food trucks, Chefette, BBQ Barn, Picasso for breakfast right across the street was pleasant and reasonably priced) Public transport runs very frequently and is $1.75 US per trip. Lisa’s roti hut is a short bus ride and best roti I’ve had👍.

Horrible experience stay away from this hotel!! Never again I want to experience service like what I experienced at the Accra hotel. The front desk people take their sweet time and tell you one thing that they will do and don’t do it anyways. All they kept saying is shortly, check in was at 3pm I was checked in at almost 5 pm, ridiculous nothing was offered to us for this issue. Meanwhile I’m already paying for the hotel since 3 but not getting their services. Then the other day the water stopped working the toilet didn’t flush no water was coming from the sink or shower. Like seriously how am I supposed to get cleaned up or use the bathroom. And again they never offered anything for these major issues. Another thing is that during my entire stay not once did room service come and clean or refresh the room didn’t give toilet paper nothing. Then when we ran out of toilet paper it took them over 30 mins to bring a new roll. What kind of hotel service is this???!!!! At the beach there were no workers to put out the beach chairs or umbrella we had to drag the heavy chairs ourselves I felt like I was doing some labor work setting that up then rather being on vacation.

Ok hotel. Expensive for what it is. Location is good. Staff is rather clueless, don't really know what they're doing. Tell you one thing, do another. When we left, the lady at the lobby refused to give me an invoice. I booked through Expedia, so I had to ask them for an invoice. Never have I experienced anything like this. I don't think I stayed at Expedia's, but at the hotel. So they should be able to provide me with an invoice, it is probably even a legal requirement. I needed that invoice to reclaim the cost from my employer. The lady at the counter was rude and didn't even try to understand.

The location of the property was excellent for us. Right on an amazing beach and easy walking distance to lots of local eateries and bars. Public transport on Barbados is fantastic and you can get to and from the airport and most points of interest very easily from Accra Beach.

Despite some of the reviews this hotel is fine. High room for a family, shower good and always warm water. Excellent location, straight out onto a beautiful beach. Loads of places to eat locally. Would stay again.

The property is beautiful but was remodeled many years ago and really needs to be done again. The beach is in desperate need of new lounge chairs and umbrellas and should have them all laid out for guests instead of pulling them out when someone arrives. This creates artificial scarcity with the chairs which causes guests to wake up early, put their towels on the chairs then leave until the afternoon. There were discarded cups and straws on the beach for days which it seems did not fall under anyone's responsibility to clean up. The water pressure in the hotel was very low and actually was turned off for 3 hours one afternoon for maintenance without notice. None of this was horrible enough for me to suggest avoiding this hotel, just be aware of what to expect.

Excellent staff and hosting unfortunately the lobby bar was under renovations at the time but the beach bar was more than adequate. The beach was well kept as well as the pool area and bartenders with the bar side pool. The breakfast buffet while very diverse with a lot of choices was a bit on the pricey side. Easy walk to shopping across the street taxi stand just outside of the hotel to get a taxi anywhere on the island. Beautiful beach beautiful sunsets from this area as well.

5pm room wasn’t ready. Building is dated and tired. Air conditioning stopped working one night. Room keeping were late everyday and we were back to our room twice prior yo cleaning so we just got new towels w/o service. Pool was out of service for four days. Having them agree to an 1.5Hr late checkout was a hassle after all that. Restaurant breakfast is $36 US for a buffet. The beach is awesome. White powder sand, emerald warm water. The area has several nice restaurants within walking distance. My stay overall was fine, but that’s also me being somewhat of a local. The room was large but needs better lighting. A microwave in the room would also be great since I was unable to reheat any food that I put in the mini fridge. My biggest issue was the price of drinks at the bar. Something that cost $10 everywhere else was $21 on the resort.
