Great location downtown. No parking at the Hotel, need to go a couple blocks away to park but walk to hotel is connected by a pedway so no need to go outside.

We had paid for 2 rooms, and got there at 3:30. Neither of them were ready until after 4 oclock, (check-in was at 3). We asked if there could be any chance of credit, and they said no. Even a breakfast coupon or anything. It put a huge delay in our day/plans. Elevators kept bringing us to the wrong floor, and the pool was freezing cold. The saunas didnt work, and nothing is 100% clean. We are NOT coming back.

The stay was great. Rooms clean. Food was amazing. Pool was a bit on the cold side for me but im sure that is just me. And unfortunately the elevators were not working great. However the staff was great the last day to go to the floor it was stuck on to bring it down. As i have issues with stairs. Overall an amazing stay

Well worn hotel. Room decor was circa 1950's, lock on room door was broken, "upgraded" to similar room for inconvenience - disappointed, gym was tiny, aged equipment and no air flow, pool was a bonus and onsite restaurant was decent with terrific wait staff. Cheap & cheerful 4-night stay overall.

I did not eat breakfast. The furniture is dated. The elevators did not work, and guests had to wait a long time before they were fixed and operational. The customer service is so so. For what this hotel offers or does not offer, the price is too expensive. This hotel needs to be shut down, and do a complete renovation.

Room was old, carpet was dirty and lights were dirty and rusted.. found a bottle of empty liquor bottle empty in the corner of the room behind the chair, mold in the containers of shampoo, conditioner in shower.. not the cleanest room unfortunately.. on the good side the receptionist were nice and helpful and hotel is well situated downtown

I was not impressed with the cleanliness of the bathroom, there were multiple pubic hairs on the toilet seat and vanity counter, which is disgusting and proves there was lack of attention to detail when cleaning. I have stayed at your hotel many times and this was a let down after paying over $250 for a night!

We booked this hotel purely because of the price, and unexpected flight delays meant we had to stay an additional night in the city. Unfortunately, the property is in serious need of a full renovation. The pillows didn’t have protective cases, and the stains on them were visible. Our duvet cover had a large brown stain—bigger than an outstretched hand—which made it clear that attention to cleanliness is lacking. The bathroom door around the handle was filthy; I wiped both sides with Lysol wipes, and they turned black. There was debris in the bathroom, stains on the carpet, and an overall uncomfortable, unclean feeling throughout the room. We requested extra top sheets and pillow cases to help us feel a bit more comfortable. We were exhausted and didn’t have the energy to move to another hotel. To add to it, the heating didn’t work, and someone had to come in to look at it, but no solution was offered. The entire hallway was freezing as well.

Would not recommend this hotel. Air conditioner/heating unit banged all night. Very noisy. Tub mat or treads would be a good idea. I slipped and fell in the shower. I had to put down a towel for grip.

The location was perfect for attending the Curling Olympic Trials at Scotiabank Centre. Close to plenty of downtown restaurants and pubs. Lots of Christmas events happening nearby. Room was very clean and we appreciated the focus on recycling and composting with suitable bins. This is the only hotel we've seen composting bins. Well done. One criticism...the furnishings are aged and run down. One of bedside lamps had a shsde that was falling spart.

Location is great as the bus to the airport is right in front of the hotel. It is also within walking distance to the ferry, stores and citadel. There was no wifi during the entire duration of the stay. Unsure how long it was down before we checked in and there was no compensation or warning in advance.

The parking is really painfully challenging and inconvenient. No housekeeping unless you stay for 4 days? location was excellent WIFI had been out for days before I arrived. Since I work remotely this was a real problem. Staff had no idea how widespread the problem was - did not offer any help to ameliorate the situation. Would not stay again because of the way this situation was handled.

Overall: a good experience and a good value for the money. Clean and most welcoming with night security adding to the level of comfort. The check in staff - she was lovely and helpful and couldn't do enough for me. The staff member who did my check out on the last day was equally friendly, kind and supportive seeking to help. Only one front desk staff person was cold and unfriendly both times that I interacted with her, so clearly attitude is an issue and perhaps should be coached and given the opportunity to at least pretend to be supportive. Apart from that one, not having daily housekeeping was a bit of a setback but when I asked for towels and tissues, was immediately looked after. The location is great and the overall feeling is one of welcome. I'll be back.

Good location. Icy cold staff. Despite reporting WiFi issues, nothing was done. They connected me to their techs who had solutions. First time I’ve had to do my own troubleshooting. Despite this, no action was taken. In fact, they did not pass concerns to management.

Staff trainee lady was rude. She did not explain service procedures and was very un-accommodating and unprofessional. If we did not arrive so late in the evening I would have changed hotels due to her behaviour. The room was nice, the parking was inconvenient. The credit card refund is 5 business days which is crazy because they took the money right away when checking in.

Its not worth the money. The internet was down the entire time and i booked the business room. Even the TV had spotty reception on certain channels. The manager was condescending and glib when it came to the internet that was down for 3 days. He offered nothing, not even a local coffee shop to work. I went to the marriott doen the road and will stay there next time.

Smooth check in - very friendly staff. We were in town celebrating our anniversary and they left us mini champagne and cupcakes in our room. Super sweet! Will definitely stay here again next time we visit Halifax!

What was unique about this property? Check-in is 3pm, I arrive after driving all day at 3:45pm and am told my room is not ready so go walk around and we will call you in 45 minutes when it is ready. No call was ever received so I finally wandered back after 5:30pm to wait in line to try checking in again. No apology, no acknowledgement from the staff, no discount. Seriously, if the room wasn’t ready because nobody cleaned it, don’t lie about it requiring inspection after sneaking off to make a secret phone call with housekeeping. What is the point of claiming it needed to be inspected then giving a dirty room. The hotel is not close to full so give me another room or a free upgrade instead of telling me to take a walk and try again later. Dummies. The hotel is pretty dingy and lives only due to it’s location. Poor service, shabby rooms and run down facilities.

Had a great experience staying here! Very close to the waterfront and shopping. Restaurants closeby and a food court/dollarama/Lawtons attached to the hotel via an indoor walkway! The staff also allowed me to stay in my room 2 hours late so I wouldn’t have to wait at the airport for so long before my flight.

The hotel was very good value, hence the overall rating. The Tempo restaurant was excellent for breakfast. And the reception and room maintenance/service team was very responsive when we asked for new towels or for the door to be fixed. Our room was a bit on the tired side and we would have liked to have daily room clean and towel change, but realise this was probably reflected in the lower daily rate. Another down side was the distance from car park to hotel, which we found very annoying over 5 days. But overall an enjoyable, good value stay.

The coffee was very bitter and burnt at tempo but the rest of the food was good. It also said they have on site parking options but they do not it's only paid parking in the centre across the street which is a long walk with luggage if their drop off area is in use.

Only issue was the dining room. Sounded like only one waitress showed up. Very busy. Only opens at 8 on Sunday and we had to be at curling at 9 so couldn’t wait. Another person came rushing in to help. We used grab and go but that took over 40 minutes so we were late for the curling.

The Barrington is located strategically in downtown Halifax. The hotel is aged, and functional but in need of some updates. The room we rented for a week had a very comfortable bed and was functional. But the room smelled old and stuffy. We turned on the room fan which helped somewhat. We stayed here 7 nights and there was no room cleaning. After day 3, we requested a cleaning- fresh towels and trash removal, new coffee cups. After day 5, still no cleaning. We instead requested towels and new coffee cups which were accommodated.
