Staff were friendly and overall the room was comfortable. It was a little expensive but we wanted something within walking distance. There was some confusion over EV parking which was new. There was a minor maintenance matter with the door to the bathroom and the room was too warm. Thus the good but not excellent rating.

Central location with a lot of restaurant options. Very well stocked amenities. I especially enjoyed the laundromat for guests - the machines were brand new, in great condition and easy to use. As a special bonus: it's free! Detergents and fabric soften we're provided free of charge!

The hotel was beautiful for the age and location perfect for shopping and the gardens are directly across the street. The hotel restaurant was delicious with friendly staff throughout. Availability of elevators was a problem. Getting down to parking areas was cumbersome. Dining staff- especially breakfast wait staff was superb; pleasant, efficient and helpful! Front desk was excellent Bellhops were all really helpful and efficuent

This is a beautiful hotel, with very tastefully decorated rooms, lobby area and restaurant areas. We found the room on the 7th floor to be quiet with very effective blackout blinds and draperies. The air conditioner unit was a bit overly enthusiastic in its output but quiet about it. Security to the room was entirely lacking. Anyone could use the elevators to access any of the floors. Parking was very convenient to access from the street, with a bit of a curious maze to get from the underground parking to the lobby but they reward you at the check in desk with a nice chocolate when you're successful. The hotel was easily walkable to the waterfront area, citadel, gorgeous parks and dozens of restaurants.

Room was really really dirty. We’ve stayed at the lord Nelson exclusively when in Halifax dozens of times, and every time we’ve loved it. This time however, it was extremely dirty especially for not being a basic room. Pretty disappointing

Hotel showing its age. Dated decor, some broken or damaged areas in room interior. Very poor dining experience at hotel restaurant (food quality) and room was only partially cleaned. Reception staff was very nice and as accommodating as they could be. I will not be back.

Older hotel in a great location. We heard loud bass the first night that we think was from one of the banquet halls on the main floor. We could also hear traffic, etc. through the windows. The bathroom was also tiny and very outdated. Our shower head was really mouldy and gross, and we asked it to be cleaned, but it never was.

This hotel has the worst pillows in Halifax. Numerous customers had the same complaint at the front desk when I was there requesting a softer pillow. It took two day to switch out 1 pillow. This was our second time at this hotel this year with the same issue.

Check in and out processes were excellent. We were able to do early check in, and leave our bags at the hotel after check out for a while. The suit and everything inside were clean. The hotel is located in a great location. Walking distance to great coffee shops, bars, restaurants, and the water. Would definitely stay again.

Excellent stay . Came for a wedding had no problem getting an early check in to get ready. Really nice bell man helped with our luggage. Hotel was very quiet . Very comfortable room. Would stay here again for sure!

Very nice hotel and staff. Stayed four nights. Unfortunately we experienced one poor meal in the restaurant where our server apparently went on break and when someone else finally brought our breakfast, it was cold. Manager knocked off a percentage of the bill after we finally got someone else to attend to our table. Other visits to the restaurant were good though. Would most likely return as the location suited us.

Loved staying here as a classic stay compared to the convention hotel everyone else was at. Slept better than ever in this hotel! Great rooms, clean, great service. Had trouble getting through to the front or bell desks when I called from my room but they said they’d look into it. Would 100% stay again.

I have stayed her numerous times because the location and restaurants near by are great. Every time I say I won’t be back but come back because of that. Unfortunately every time I stay, housekeeping is an issue from starting to knock on doors to see if people have left at 8am to even entering my room once while sleeping. I have complaint each time with the issue not resolved on my next visit so clearly this is a policy they have for their housekeeping team. You’d think they would be able to use technology to know when rooms are being checked out of vs the old fashion knocking.

We enjoyed our stay at the Lord Nelson Hotel. The front desk staff are unfortunately not very friendly. They proceed with the check in and check out process in a rather robotic manner, without smiles or conversation. I would suggest front desk training program with an emphasis on representing the hotel in a positive way considering they are the first point of contact for guests.

Gorgeous hotel that blew us away as soon as we walked in. The staff was wonderful and the rooms were huge and very clean. Also the comfiest hotel bed I've ever slept on! Location was perfect and very walkable. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Location is outstanding. Great character and lovely view. A nice gem of a hotel. The fitness room was small but well-equipped. Staff was lovely and it was clean and well-maintained. Food was delicious and very reasonably priced.

Very nice hotel and staff. Stayed four nights. Unfortunately we experienced one poor meal in the restaurant where our server apparently went on break and when someone else finally brought our breakfast, it was cold. Manager knocked off a percentage of the bill after we finally got someone else to attend to our table. Other visits to the restaurant were good though. Would most likely return as the location suited us.

Bed comfortable. Quiet. Registered four guests but coffee for two ( most hotels get the towels right but not the coffee). Pet peeve. No shampoo in dispenser or it didn’t work. There was extra shampoo in small bottle by sink. Bar great..excellent staff ..

Great location with decent rooms. Walkable to waterfront which was decent. Parking in garage next door is $30/night. The breakfast at the hotel wasn’t fabulous- my bacon showed up in a pool of grease. Overall nice older hotel but I eat elsewhere.

We loved everything about our stay at The Lord Nelson. The staff were lovely, the rooms spotless, the restaurant excellent, a perfect location, and a beautiful lobby and mezzanine. We were very sad to leave after our 3 days and will be back!

World class hotel and I loved the pianist Maurice mcgaffny, he played beautifully, nice touch for ambiance. Food was good at the restaurant, too. I loved my stay!

Loved this place! Absolutely beautiful. The lobby is stunning. Staff are wonderful and extremely helpful. The beds were very comfortable and our room was very nice. Lovely selection of soaps & shampoo and conditioners supplied. We realized we were across from a park which was an amazing find. The park is huge with fountains, bridges and statues scattered throughout the many acres of roses and flowers.
