We didn’t plan on using the pool and spa but being told they were under construction after paying for the room and not refundable on the wotif site was false advertising. Issues with the lifts are annoying and the views aren’t great. But is in a very convenient location

The hotel is in a great location so no complaint there. However if you decide to add parking to your stay, DONT. Hotel parking is down a narrow pedestrian laneway and then down a winding one way entry.

This place is in a very convenient location in the heart of Melbourne. The staff are very attentive and friendly and the Happy Hour at the hotel bar is definitely worth checking out as is the buffet breakfast. It is an older building though and the facilities feels tired at times, although the lifts work very quickly. The pool is adequately heated but is very small so fills up quickly.

Nice stay overall. The indoor pool and spa were nice and warm. Concierge and restaurant staff service were friendly. There was clearly some construction work happening, but it wasn’t a bother. Don’t expect great view, we just saw buildings across from us. TV was a little fiddly to get to work, so we didn’t use it much. Would be nice if there was a bigger play room for kids.

Brilliant location. Massive room. Clean and new room. Really good gym and pool. All good so far! However, I was welcomed as Mr (even though I’m a Ms), the milk in fridge did not get replaced for my second day and there was only one out of 3 lifts working which meant a long wait . I often resorted to using the fire stairs - but got stuck on one occasion. Also noticed no hand cream (which is provided at Novotel Central)

Staff great, but hotel looking tired and outdated. Carpets lifting and corridors dirty. Room service trays left outside overnight. Wallpaper also starting to come away. Not up to scratch for this location or price. Unfortunately, won’t be staying here again, better available.

Housekeeping was terrible. Room wasn’t serviced until very late and a day was missed. Shopping bags were thrown away that had receipts in them. Room was not equal to the hotel star rating. Room was also not ready at 2 when we arrived. Was nearly 4:30 before we were given a room. Had to change rooms as the first room had massive stains all over carpet. Was an overall very disappointing stay.

During this business trip stay, we encountered extremely hot weather, and the air conditioning in all three booked rooms failed. Despite the front desk offering a full refund for one night for each room, they stated they couldn't process it because the booking was made through Expedia. After following up with Novotel through Expedia, the best they could offer was a disappointing 25% discount. The conditions in the rooms were uninhabitable, making it impossible for anyone to sleep due to the intense heat and humidity. We were penalised for using Expedia

The hotel is convenient however for the price a little outdated. Rooms very dark and no proper view. Couldn’t see sky or street. Only looked out window to the roof covered section and the metal bars holding up roof. Room very quiet until early in the morning. Sounded like generators or something similar in the walls. The lobby was great though. Good bar and restaurant. Friendly staff.

I recently stayed at the Novotel Melbourne on Collins and found the experience fairly average overall. The rooms are quite tired and dated, with the TV and air conditioning not working particularly well. The reception staff were not especially friendly or welcoming, which didn’t make for a great first impression. The layout of the hotel is also inconvenient, you have to wait for lifts that only go to level 3 (reception), then walk to the other end of the building and wait again for another set of lifts to reach your room. On the positive side, my room was quiet and had a pleasant view over the city. The large workspace/desk was also a nice feature for getting some work done. There are definitely better hotels in Melbourne for the price, and I’d probably choose to stay elsewhere next time.

Mostly good but the pitiful performance of the hotel’s wi-fi tainted our stay. Certainly not strong enough for streaming. Sub 1Mbps for the entirety of our stay. Tested speed on lvl11 and lvl7 - same poor performance. Such a shame as the rest of our experience was fine.

Extremely Disappointing Stay ❌ Not Worth even 1 Star ❌ My experience at Novotel Melbourne on Collins, was terrible. Reception rarely answers calls, and when they do, room service requests (towels, water, etc.) are delayed for over an hour — if delivered at all. Only 1 out of 3 lifts was working, causing long queues. Floors smelled unpleasant and felt poorly maintained. No assistance with luggage. Staff show zero urgency or accountability. The Wi-Fi is painfully slow, and better access is not provided. Dirty glasses were not removed at water dispencer. If you look at the couches or seats kept on reception, absolutely dirty and not cleaned. Overall, poor management and extremely disappointing service. I would strongly advise others to reconsider before booking.

Hotel and facilities as expected, only issue was room not being available when checking in early evening and having to wait, although we were provided with a drinks voucher. Attitude of the reception staff was disappointing as they seemed to think it was funny a room that was booked from 2pm was still not ready by 6pm but other than that all staff were friendly and helpful.

The room and stay itself were fine, excellent CBD location and access to transport. Our stay was soured by the poor check in experience. Check in was listed from 2pm so we arrived at reception shortly after this time. We didn’t get to our room until 4pm! Again, fine if you’re a couple or travelling with older children but we were trying to check in with a 3 month old baby and 7 year old. I politely explained our situation to the front desk twice however it was only when my husband went to the desk did the staff take appropriate action. Housekeeping were promptly called and instructed to attend to our room immediately. I suggest if your housekeeping aren’t able to get the rooms cleaned by 2pm, don’t offer check in at this time. It was a disappointing start to our weekend away.

The room was reasonable and suited our family of 3 well. It is older but still comfortable. The staff are the biggest let down, the front of house staff especially rude and just don't care. One of the lifts from ground to level 3 was broken during our stay, and then the only other lift also broke down; leaving no lift to ground floor. Elderly people and those with mobility issues or prams (us) had no way to get to the ground floor and the older lady on reception didn't care at all and they didn't even put a sign to let people know it was out of order, so reception staff were literally watching people wait their for the lift for ages and not saying a word. We eventually ended up going down in the service lift. Housekeeping also didn't happen until after 3pm most days and rubbish was left outside rooms for 24 hours - surely the night staff should do rounds and collect this? Overall, the hotel room was comfortable and the location perfect, but it's let down by some of the staff and poor management of hotel facilities.

Easy access to trams on Swanston, Bourke and Collins Sts so makes it easy for tram travel. So close to everything, perfect location. We went to a game at the MCG and it was an easy walk….with a couple of bar stops along the way.

A few little issues. No bags in bins, tv remote didn’t work. Phone in the room didn’t work. Restaurant was overcrowded at breakfast and the food was either cold or there wasn’t enough. No cups for coffee or juice.

This was my Sons first trip to Australia, he chose the Novotel chain. such a small thing but important spoiled his entire trip. Chocolate Croissants for breakfast!!!!! how silly of a hotel chain that every day of a 5 day trip if you do not have breakfast before 8am they run out of croissants!!!!! coming from a country that prides itself on hospitality, tourism its beyond dissapointing to learn that F&B Managers are this poor in their operational management. Last time he will be visiting this Hotel.

Clean and reliable, front desk was slow on check-in with only one person at desk at 2pm on a Saturday of AO finals in January. Valet parking a breeze and worth it. Not sure about eco-credentials and soap in bathroom was quite harsh. Room dining was easy, presented well and very good. Location is perfect for city experience.

Its a great spot to come in from SC station and straight down on the tram! Its perfect for a shopping day as its so close to all my fav shops and restaurants! Negatives, the hallways need an update they were dirty and not clean, it took a long time to check in, and the breakfast was average..however worth the money we paid! Overall a 6/10

Great location, staff were lovely, friendly & very helpful, however it was disappointing that the Hotel Bar closed at 10.30pm even though we were told they we’re expecting a rush from the Footy Crowd, which made no sense as this crowd arrived at 10.35pm & they were all knocked back.
