The Star Grand Hotel and Residences Sydney

Comfortable stay. Spacious rooms. Nice front of house staff and porters. Cleaning could be better. Missed by room half the time and if they did clean, they’d leave used glasses and not replace, or forget bath mat. Gym is decent. Nice pool but usually filled with small children. Good location. Quiet community. Walking distance from restaurants and Darling Harbour.

Stayed in the separate section this time I prefer hotel side. Had harbour view from balcony but couldn’t see it if you were in room. Pool area was disgustingly dirty. Not enough staff. Otherwise It is a great hotel in a great area. Casino is fun but a bit of a time wasted signing up. Seems to be lots of queuing for check in and check out and membership.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND… The bed was the most comfortable I have ever experienced. Loved the automatic blind when I walked into the room. Sensor night lights under the bedsides & in the bathroom were so luxurious at night. The pool cabanas & heated pool were the best!!

Good gym and sauna

Beautiful room, room service was fast and delicious, pools were very relaxing with a nice view of the city. Definitely coming back.

We absolutely loved it here! Easy walk to darling harbour but also plenty of food options just in your hotel. The included parking was a huge bonus too. We will be back!

The pool and spa are fabulous.

Loved out stay at The Star. Reception staff were helpful and friendly, we appreciated being able to check in early and were very happy to receive a room upgrade as it was our 5 year anniversary. The one bedroom suite was beautiful! Huge balcony with city views, suite was clean and very spacious. The pool and spa were incredible. We had such a great time and will be staying here in future. Highly recommend!

Fabulous hotel ! Rooms were amazing, spacious and spotless. Upgraded from superior king to premium king giving a harbour view. Breakfast buffet was good but not great. Plenty of variety but fried eggs could have been fresher. Baked beans had very little beans left, mainly sauce. Pastries were very nice.

Room was nice just needed to be dusted

The room looked great pn arrival. Unfortunately the bed had a blood stain on the sheet which was very unsatisfying. It was red in colour which meant it was fresh and the sheets hadnt been washed. Disgusted. It was late when I went to bed so didnt complain. Put a towel on the sheet. So no wasnt happy at all.

Dust and grim in bathroom

Inroom service dishes left in hallways for hours so it was not nice to walk between room to lifts and seeing trays and trolleys with left over food. Stayed 4 nights and room was not cleaned before 3pm which made having an afternoon nap impossible. Friday and Saturday nights very noisy with people leaving doors open and talking/yelling in hallways. Rooms a good size, views nice, staff pleasant. Well located. Taxis at Rank reluctant to use meter and wanted cash and over charged.

Super friendly and efficient front desk staff. Room service can be improved - my room did not have water for a day, nor were the dirty crockery replaced with clean ones. Dirty glasses (from another room) was standing in the passage for more than 2 days. Air vent above shower was very filthy during my 4-day stay.

Room cleaning a bit inconsistent

We stayed at The Star in October for 3 nights in a Superior King room. Initially we were super impressed by the room. It was spacious, well furnished and the bathroom seemed great. However, each morning the lights would come on by themselves anywhere between 12am and 4 am. Even when turned off they would turn themselves on again. We complained to reception every day and yet it continued to occur. We also found issues with the door entry to the room intermittently. The towels provided looked like cleaning towels. They were standard size and completely frayed. Furthermore the vent in the bathroom had the most disgusting mould in it. As nothing had been fixed during our stay despite our regular reporting of it (although we were told it was fixed) I sent an email once we got home to advise them of it. Their first solution was to call at 9.30pm Sydney time to discuss the day after my complaint. When we finally made contact their solution to our disappointing stay and ruined experience was to offer an upgrade on our next stay should we book the same room, pay full price, and then email to request the upgrade. This however was capped at 2 nights when we had stayed for 3 and was not available during any block out periods which were not defined and they stated we must book first and then request which could ultimately result in not receiving the upgrade. I am disgusted by the room and the customer service during and thereafter from The Star.

Not much of a Harbour View for the price. Curtains in bedroom were ripped and coming off the track.

yes and yes- great room- great location-

Location is excellent. Staff were generally very helpful. The room itself ('Superior' King Room) seemed a bit run-down. The TV was burnt in (colour disfiguration), the toilet seat wouldn't stay up, bed wasn't made properly... But the main issue was the air condition unit; it made a very loud noise every 10 seconds. It sounded like a truck was driving by every 10 seconds.

nice hotel picked the expensive harbour view 2 bedroom to my surprise the 2nd room bed was a double. I have travelled hotels around the world and never have i seen a 2nd bedroom bed a double bed. when asked they said thats what we have which was abrupt and no other option available If you are seeking a 5 star hotel accomodatjon experience. This is not the hotel for you. Best to goto a service apartment which sydney has plenty at the same price or less with the same view or to the crown casino at Barangaroo.

Very comfortable bed. Our hotel room TV didn’t work so we were upgraded to a suite in the Residence, which was very spacious (two-person shower! Big balcony!) but disconcertingly tacky decor.

Had a really nice stay the the Star Grand Hotel. The staff were really nice and very polite. The room was a great size and looked great. Would definitely stay here again. Super close to the Sydney Lyric which is in the building so quite convenient if seeing a show.

Very noisy with children running up and down the corridors outside the rooms and knocking on the door. One night there was also a party going on in the room next door, with multiple male guests and inappropriate language and behaviours that could be heard from the balcony (sounded like a bucks party). I don’t think I’d spend the money again on what should have a luxurious treat for myself and my children. I did not inform reception of the party going on (due to concerns about possible negative repercussions) but I should have.

Upon arrival Tiarne and David welcomed us so nicely and were very professional. Room was stunning, bed is the most comfortable I have ever slept on and the facilities were excellent. Highly recommend this hotel for any stay in Sydney.

We ordered room service and it took and hour and 45 minutes. It wasnt even the wings we ordered . Wasnt happy with that at all

Check-in and concierge services were very friendly and helpful. We really liked the hotel and the suite. The only issue we encountered was the very inconsistent information regarding a late check-out. The day before our departure, we were told to ask again in the evening because the daily rate was not yet known. In the evening, we were then told that the hotel was fully booked and that we could only check out at 12 pm instead of 11 am. On the day of departure, we were once again informed that a late check-out was not possible. It was only when we spoke to a more experienced staff member that we learned a late check-out was in fact available for an extra charge. We happily paid this fee and were able to check out at 3 pm. This was very important for us as we were travelling with two small children and our flight to Europe was not scheduled until 10 pm. ⸻

They don't accept your visa debit card if it's on the mobile they need to see the card with numbers etc. Complicated and wasted 30 mins checking in. They took $200 on my eftpos card. When i checked our they were not able to put the $ back on the card. So now it's with the accounts team to sort out n i have to wait to hear back from them. They also don't give $ outright. Very disappointed n won't be staying there again

Perfect for spending a weekend in the City Centre.

Free Parking, late check out and free $50 restaurant vouchers per day of stay are pleasant additions to our stay. It has its own light rail station stop at the basement, so you can easily go around the city. Great vibe, plenty of dining options inside the hotel premises. Always great to stay here at the Star.

Very good, good location

So convenient, easy walk to darling harbour and the ferry wharf. Lots of little shops and the staff were lovely. While we didnt book a room with a view as we were only staying one night we still found the room very comfortable and clean

I have stayed numerous times and standard is good. Rooms are always clean and area in Pyrmont is very safe and walkable to many attractions. Light Rail downstairs for excursions further away. Room service is timely and if I had to find fault it would be that menu does not have enough Asian options like it did before.

Appreciated the upgrade to our room that had 2 toilets as we needed them when myself and my husband became ill immediately after eating breakfast at the buffet and required the use of a toilet at the same time. Unfortunately this ruined our stay and It was not how we had planned to celebrate my 60th birthday.

Absolutely fantastic hotel, and the Harvest Buffet breakfast is amazing. Such beautiful food with lots of options. The rooms are very quiet and comfortable with everything you need.

From the minute you drive up, the concierge & check in were brilliant. Was not expecting upgrade to a 2 bed suite with great city view - Nice touch - Thanks. Only complaint is that the Seafood Buffett is pricey, food ordinary and not worth paying the extra. Will try a la carte restaurant next time. Parking in C4 - Lift to lobby and walk around the corner for lift to residences couldn't be easier. Apart from that can't fault the hotel/accommodation & overall guest services. Will be back Highly Recommend Stay!

The stay was lovely but the dinner in the buffet was overpriced for the poor quality, very disappointed.
