Great hotel with larger rooms than the most. Staff very attentive and helpful. Location can’t be beaten right in chapel street close to chapel st shopping and only a station or two away from the city by train from south Yarra station. Room facilities need a little upgrading in terms of the electrical , data outlets and general positioning of power outlets. Potentially an upgrade of the tvs also needed to give access to HD for all channels. Great indoor/outdoor pool on rooftop Gym could use a squat rack but that’s being picky!

We had a 2 bedroom, 2 baths with full kitchen apartment, sleeping 4 people. The room was gorgeous, a lot of room, comfortable & clean. However, the entry to the hotel smelt like something was dead, making it quite awful dry-reaching when travelling in & out of the hotel. We asked what the smell was & each time mentioned "they couldn't smell anything?" Parking was offered to all 4 people but when we all arrived individually, were told it was only for one car & the other 3 would have to park elsewhere. We triple checked this & couldn't believe reception denied that could be the case - either way though, after much distress, they let us leave all our cars there but then charged $49 for additional cars, not what we planned for. Had we known, it would've been cheaper to park in a undercover garage. Breakfast was nice but the hot food is cooked away from the dining area & brought to the table - not often hot enough, cooled off by the time we received it. Variety was good but not the total full buffet package we are use to getting from other hotels with the same star rating.

The building is beautiful but no power points by bedside, old fridge that doesn’t shut unless forced, a bathtub with discolouration etc show aging. Bedside drawers have glass tops; one was chipped and I nearly cut my hand. The pool is small and you need to walk through a gym to the change room, which has rusty lockers and door knobs that are hard to turn. The water fountain had a mouldy tray. The reception staff said she was sick (!) and coughed; should wear a mask or pls don’t work when sick.

the property did not look like the photos on the Expedia website. The hotel is old, weathered and needs a very detailed refurbishment and refresh. The bathroom / showers were original, the carpet was old. Only one lift was in use which was incovenient. The in dining was limited.

The staff were amazing! But, the hotel is not 5 star. The bathroom was dirty, the bath/shower combo was dangerous to get in and out of, there was only 1 set of toiletries in the bathroom, stiff, scratchy towels, coffee machine (while appreciated) needs replacing. Breakfast was disappointing, worth it if you get a good deal with the room, but they need more staff, buffet style beverages were constantly empty, even the coffee capsules ran out and food quality wasnt great. On the positive, the beds were really comfortable, block out blinds really worked, quiet rooms, position is perfect, public transport is close and frequent, great dining options close by and super friendly staff. Staying at the Como is a wonderful experience, such beautifully, comfortably appointed rooms, and having the Como Centre adjoining, with Laurent for breakfast pastries and Palace Cinemas, is the cherry on top of it all. Now if only they had more affordable parking for guests, that would be perfect...

From check in to check out the service was seamless. We really enjoyed using the indoor pool and jet bath on a wet day. Our room was super quiet, didn’t hear any noise outside our room. Only downside was the water pressure from the shower.. it was like a weak watering can - super disappointed with that.

800 a night and the spa bath emitted dead skin cells/biological material and dirt from the pumps. Kitchen had not been wiped down/cleaned at all. Complained to management who said they’d waive my breakfast and mini bar fees and yet still charged me $25 dollars. Never again, don’t waste your money

The cleanliness of the room was dusty all over. The top of the mirror, the back of the TV, the skirting boards. When we moved rooms the hotel staff said the cleaners double checked the room. This did not appear to be the case. It took a long while for staff to communicate room changes.

The standards are slipping in this hotel. Its quite dated now and my room was not made up until after 3pm each day and that has never happened before. The hotel has no plates or knifes and forks if you order food in to eat from but they have cups and glasses? The hotel is slipping slowly but surely and i have stayed here on many occasions so do know this hotel well. The room i was given had a huge safety issue of getting in and out of trying to shower as the step out onto the floor is a major safety and potential serious injury issue. The bath tub had grime in the spa ports and has not been cleaned properly. I really like this hotel but it has slipped in their standards a lot.

This is a charming, modern, friendly place in the heart of South Yarra. The rooms are nicely sized, the bathrooms well appointed, the common areas have a nice vibe around it. Staff are friendly and attentive. The Nespresso machine in the lobby is a nice touch. The location is excellent - right in the heart of a restaurant precinct. I have stayed here a few times now in the past few years, and The Como remains my "go to" place for when I visit friends in Melbourne.

very impressed with the front counter staff who helped me check in earlier than expected so I could make some important business calls. Their efforts to try and get something for me 2 hours ahead of normal checkin was appreciated.

Below average. My room had a water leak and it smelled like mould. Quite underwhelmed for a 5 star hotel. Hotel poorly managed - staff did their best but cracks were evident. Everything seemed generic. No joy to be found here.

We had a 2 bedroom, 2 baths with full kitchen apartment, sleeping 4 people. The room was gorgeous, a lot of room, comfortable & clean. However, the entry to the hotel smelt like something was dead, making it quite awful dry-reaching when travelling in & out of the hotel. We asked what the smell was & each time mentioned "they couldn't smell anything?" Parking was offered to all 4 people but when we all arrived individually, were told it was only for one car & the other 3 would have to park elsewhere. We triple checked this & couldn't believe reception denied that could be the case - either way though, after much distress, they let us leave all our cars there but then charged $49 for additional cars, not what we planned for. Had we known, it would've been cheaper to park in a undercover garage. Breakfast was nice but the hot food is cooked away from the dining area & brought to the table - not often hot enough, cooled off by the time we received it. Variety was good but not the total full buffet package we are use to getting from other hotels with the same star rating.

The staff were amazing! But, the hotel is not 5 star. The bathroom was dirty, the bath/shower combo was dangerous to get in and out of, there was only 1 set of toiletries in the bathroom, stiff, scratchy towels, coffee machine (while appreciated) needs replacing. Breakfast was disappointing, worth it if you get a good deal with the room, but they need more staff, buffet style beverages were constantly empty, even the coffee capsules ran out and food quality wasnt great. The whole place needs an upgrade, good clean and lower rating. On the positive, the beds were really comfortable, block out blinds really worked, quiet rooms, position is perfect, public transport is close and frequent, great dining options close by and super friendly staff. Tip: weekend off site parking is only $15 for 24 hrs. It's attached to the hotel.

Staying at the Como is a wonderful experience, such beautifully, comfortably appointed rooms, and having the Como Centre adjoining, with Laurent for breakfast pastries and Palace Cinemas, is the cherry on top of it all. The standards are slipping in this hotel. Its quite dated now and my room was not made up until after 3pm each day and that has never happened before. The hotel has no plates or knifes and forks if you order food in to eat from but they have cups and glasses? The hotel is slipping slowly but surely and i have stayed here on many occasions so do know this hotel well. The room i was given had a huge safety issue of getting in and out of trying to shower as the step out onto the floor is a major safety and potential serious injury issue. The bath tub had grime in the spa ports and has not been cleaned properly. I really like this hotel but it has slipped in their standards a lot.

A basic but very adequate hotel. No bar and no restaurant (except for breakfast) but honestly you don’t need those when in this area - there are so many eateries and drinking establishments in the vicinity. The rooms are very large and spacious with good showers - absolutely fine hotel in a great location. Not luxury but very comfortable- would stay again.
