I had a very cheap room without a window, I knew that when I booked so it was no surprise but it was somewhat claustraphobic and I would probably go for a room with a window next time. That said it was very quiet and dark so good for sleeping. The AC kept the room at a comfortable temperature and the shower was excelent, constant temperature and flow. Bed was firm. Overall the room was very clean. 950 metre walk to the National Theatre which puts this hotel in close proximity to that venue - that I was attending. There is under building car parking, some of the parking spaces are impossibly tight. The open air parking out the back is probably a better option for a medium to big car if the easy access spots are all gone.

I love Crest on Barkly. It's my regular go to place to stay in Melbourne. The location is amazing. And very good value. I use the gym, washing facilities and Beans and Bottles. Staff are friendly and welcoming.

Although the pictures were appealing the level of noise made for a unpleasant stay. The bathroom was very small and the shower that did not have a shelf had the worst water pressure. The car park is extremely tight and hazardous. Convenient location

Chap on the desk clearly didn’t want to be there, quite grumpy, and smugly added parking charges (website lists free parking - he said, no that’s only for people who book directly with us, not for those using Wotif). Car park had the narrowest gaps I’ve ever seen in a car park which makes it hard with a larger car. Power points poorly accessible making changing devices a challenge. Tap broken in the bathroom. Smell of smoke throughout the facility. Was conveniently located.

The property looked fine. The parking is appalling. The parking spaces are small and often do not have sufficient manoeuvring room. I have a small car yet was worried that I would scratch my car on poles or others would scratch my car as they were trying to get in or out of parking spaces.

Aircon was not working on our 1st night with broken single mattress, faulty and wobbly tap in the bathroom sink and very dusty carpet. Transferred to another room on the 2nd night but room was not clean with molds in the bath, very smelly fridge with stale milk, and rubbish bin with stale food packaging. Only good thing is the staff who attended were very helpful and polite in addressing the concerns.

The room was filthy with massive amounts of mold in the bathroom and dust all over the benches. The reception staff took a scan of my credit card to store in their computer as well as my photo ID. There is no requirement for that information to be stored and it allows anyone with access to their computer to steal my details. Poor service disgusting room that was filthy. I took pictures of the state of teh room as it was so bad.

Bed was okay. Bathroom left a lot to be desired (mould in shower, the shower head bracket was loose). There's no sound protection with the room next door so I enjoyed the neighbours loud conversation till about 4.30am. New A/C was handy as it wasn't working last time I stayed here. Staff are great 10/10 service but the rooms need a big refurb.

It was very good, the beds are great and the room quiet. My only reason for not give five star is there is a connecting door between rooms and I could hear the other guest too easily and even smell his aftershave, this bothered me a lot. Apart from that it was a great a stay and the staff were very good.

The room we stayed in (225) had a connecting door to the next room. I think it can only be a single door, which was secured by a simple bolt. We could hear every word the couple were saying next door. It felt very invasive, and not at all private.

Room was clean. Did have a very strong smell of alcohol. Hotel itself is quiet mostly, however the road noise goes all night long. I think hotels should not be allowed to charge double price due to long weekend for the exact same bed & sheets. For $400 a night surely a croissant could be thrown in. Plus you pay an extra $20 for parking

I was in Room 121 which had a door between my room and the next room so I could hear their whole conversation etc late into the night. Also it sounds like there is no glass on the window the noise from the traffic was horrendous. I rang reception and requested to be moved and thankfully the helpful staff did move me to a much better room. No one should be allowed to stay room 121

Only dropped a star because the room was actually quite noisey. I could here the next room talking quite clearly but as well as that there was a lot of various ticking/squeaking noises while trying to sleep.

Unfortunately, we were quite disappointed by our stay. Some things that contributed to this were for example - we paid the additional charge for breakfast for 2 $28 which stated Weekdays cold breakfast, and full hot and cold breakfast Fri-Sun, came down for breakfast (Sat) and was told it was only continental breakfast no egg and bacon etc only toast cereal etc. Which is pretty disappointing for the price especially when it was advertised differently. - I called reception later in the night requesting some more towels and an additional blanket due to already having used the 2 towels provided and it was cold in the room. The heater was on 29 full fan however was certainly not working as it should. Reception said they were too busy?? and would replenish towels in the morning?? - Just before 6pm I called reception to see if we could use the microwave in the kitchen to heat up some food, we were told the kitchen is closed but if you want to heat up food there is 7-11 up the street. Assuming the kitchen was not open on this day at all by the way we were brushed off, I carried my 2 year old all the way to 7-11 and back to see the kitchen now open?? They could have just said it opens at 6 and we would have waited. Overall just really disappointing and not value for money.

We use this property regularly. The one constant frustration is the time it takes to go through the checking process, often 5 to 10 minutes while staff fiddle on the computer then photocopy and scan driver’s license and credit card, all for a prepaid room and prepaid parking. Is this some sort of identity theft racket??? It happens every time we check in! It can’t be that we’re not known to their system after at least a dozen visits over the past year or so.

Personally we had no issue and were satisfied with the accommodation. However, my in-laws were treated absolutely disgustingly. Their room was cancelled because their card declined during the day. I was the one who the did the booking for her as she wasn’t confident in doing so herself. She asked me do I pay now or on the day? It quite clearly said “pay at the property” so that’s exactly what she was going to do. I was also surprised to see the amount for our room deducted from my account during the day when I wasn’t expecting it, lucky I had the funds in there as I usually transfer from another account as I need, which is also what my mother in law does. Apart from the fact that they were made to change hotels much further away from the function that we were attending, they also had to pay more than double than they had originally expected, which in these times is rather stressful. Utterly disgraceful.

Accommodation was value for money , only had a issue with tv remote It was rectified by staff after a few replacements . Buffet / continental breakfast was ok , cold meat and cheeses are not refridgerated , overall very basic . Wouldn't recommend it unless it's upgraded to a better standard .

We had a free upgrade to a family room which they rang in advance to offer us, and waived the car parking which was lovely if them to do after we'd been driving for 10 hours. The room was clean and comfortable and the bathroom was a good size. The hotel restaurant food and service was great.

Great room, very comfy bed and the service/ staff were excellent. Where you need to improve is the shower "rooms" because the water went everywhere in the absence of a curtain or screen. The continental breakfast is also very poor value for money. Tepid water (not hot) to make an instant coffee and the milk had clearly been sitting out for a long time that it had started to curdle.

Great location and price. Let down by uncomfortable bed (hard), no room service despite having an onsite restaurant. If they did there was nothing in the room to suggest. I had a weird tapping noise in the room the whole time. Room needed some paint, floors were stained scratches all over walls, doors and desk.

The room smelt like it had been flooded. It has a strong smell of mold. The breakfast was terrible! DO NOT pay for this !! Toaster didn't work correctly (it was a 4 slice toaster and 6 of the 8 elements were broken and not all in the same compartment so toast would only cook one side) and there was only one toaster. Hot food was disgusting and I am not a picky eater. There was also only one slice of bacon left and I ate breakfast at 7.30 with the breakfast service running from about 7 to 9 so would exepect to be plenty. There was also only one scoop of scrambled eggs. The serving containers where those usual hot food containers where you lift the handle at the front but they were designed in a way where the steam would burn you each time you opened them. The sausages were cooked at least 24 hours earlier and were hard and dry. And to top if off the coffee was served in an industrial style thermos which is ok but the coffee was stone cold !!! You have to be kidding. -5 stars ;-)
