Nottingham City Centre Hotel by Sunday

Nice hotel, friendly staff, central location which was very convenient. Overnight parking was an added cost to the trip. The room was smaller than it looked on the website photo, but comfortable. Breakfast was fine, relaxed vibe.

Hotel had a great location but when booking it states on site parking but this was not correct and you cannot drive a car near the hotel at the time I arrived (6pm). The service was good but the breakfast was not of good quality

Was only an overnight stay, but hotel in a good location. No parking on site, but walkable public car parks to use. Arrived early and luggage left in the bag store, which was very helpful. We had a room for 3 adults and room plenty big enough and ‘camp’ bed very comfortable. Bit of a noisy area due to bars etc, but we could keep the windows closed and use the AC - so not much of an issue and we’s read whether the hotel was located, so knew the ‘risk’. It’s a very comfortable hotel, as Mercure’s tend to be and has a pub underneath, which is handy. Checkout was easy too.

The staff are welcoming and personable. The breakfast was great and the room was enormous. It's an old building and in the centre of town, so there are creaks and wobbles to be expected. The hotel recognises there will be unavoidable noise and provides complimentary earplugs without being asked. Nice touch. My only criticism is that the lift was out of order, which is an accessibility issue and should have been mentioned before the stay. Luckily I am able bodied but would have felt very annoyed if I wasn't.

The property itself was lovely, but we were put on the top floor whilst the lift was broken, which wasn’t great. The room was clean, but very small, and only had a small window, which was up quite high. The receptionist even apologised when she handed us the key. The property was located in the heart of Nottingham town centre, which was great. We stayed for 1 night, so it was fine, but any longer than that, I would stay elsewhere.

Parking is round the corner in the Pilcher Gate NCP, £14 per night. The hotel is more than adequate, its location in the heart of the thriving nightlife of Hockley gives it the edge over others

A one night stay to visit Motorpoint Arena. Hotel was a good centre for this and for exploring the centre of Nottingham. Our room was comfortable but as it's an old hotel the room above had very creaky floorboards. The closest parking is on a very tight multi-storey car park.

No parking at hotel but parking garage very close and inexpensive

Bathroom sink did not drain and dirt or rust came out when it finally did drain. Curious pub (the only hotel bar open) had no beers available.

We booked a city pad and knew it was going to be small but that was fine but it was a dingy room no decor like pics curtains closed when entered room not surprised with the dingy view, bathroom door handle came off in my hand on inside as soon as got there was fixed while we were out so that was good but then to see a few days b4 a review about it in same room so and they had replied to it so why wasnt it fixed b4 next people went in? Then the bedding wellll dried blood on both pillows and the duvet was absolutely full of yellow stains i mean it was disgusting and 1 plug socket right behind the cabinet with big telly on in the whole room. The hotel wasnt interested said no refund or even partial one they didnt even answer any of my emails and messages rude .

Very welcoming and clean and tidy room

Another example of a hotel group posting pictures on their website when the rooms were newly refurbished - I would say that must have been 15 - 20 years ago. The rooms are nothing like they look on the pictures. Carpets are really old and don't look like they've been cleaned for years. The decor is extremely old - like your Nannnas furniture. The bathrooms are clean, but are also old and dated - so they don't FEEL clean. The staff were friendly and helpful and did move me to a different room after my initial feedback - but it was just a slightly bigger room in the same condition. The room facilities didn't get replenished (tea, coffee), so that just added insult to injury. This is part of the bigger "Accor" group of hotels - they should be ashamed of letting this hotel fall into such disrepute. Not worth the money I had to pay to stay here - If I'd paid £60 per night included VAT I wouldn't mind - at least I'd know what I was getting

The room was the smallest Hotel room Ive been to and was just big enough to fit a double bed, so disappointing. Some of the fixtures and fittings were a little tired. The toilet had not thoroughly cleaned. I never give negative feedback but this was poor im afraid exoected better from a Mecure Hotel

Great location but room was not cleaned as we found peoples socks just laying around the room in plain sight along with used ear plugs also room was really dated needs a big upgrade.

Wouldn’t stay here again. Staff friendly. Room dusty and dirty. No shower gel. False eyelash in on bed. Curtains dirty, and hanging off the rail. Cigarette lighter found on floor.

I’ve stayed at this hotel before about 2 years ago and it has seriously gone down hill and won’t stay again. Room on initial look, looked clean but when you looked closer it was filthy ! Skirting boards disgusting , bed base too! Lots if dubious stains. Side table hanging off wall. Blind hiding a filthy window. Shower tray and tiling grout need a deep clean. Had it not been for the fact that I was in a rush when I got to my room , and late back , I would have asked to be moved, but guessing if the cleanliness of this room was to go by, the other rooms must be similar . I just won’t stay or reccomend again.

Great room, very spacious and quiet

I've stayed at the Mercure Nottingham before, but this room was not as good as previously experienced. The bed was not great and the room small. The location is fantastic, and the decor and ambiance of the hotel itself is great. Being in that area of Nottingham gives you access to Hockley and the Lace Market, both have fantastic pubs, restaurants and shopping. The immediate area is vibrant and fun.

We stayed over night at the hotel for a gig at Motorpoint Arena and it’s situated really conveniently, just five minutes away from the venue. The bed was good in size and the mattress is just right . The room was clean and stylish, with good sound insulation it was very quiet. The breakfast was very nice too. The members of staff were polite and friendly. I only put four stars just because the air conditioner is positioned at the side of the bed and It’s not possible to sleep with it on as it creates permanent cool air flow. Also, you can’t take shower without getting yourself under cold water first and then you get your head wet as the shower head is not removable. Otherwise it was a lovely stay

Room was very small, bathroom door couldnt fully open without hitting the bed. Tv had 3 working channels.

The privilege king room was very spacious, but there was a smell to the room! The shower didn’t exactly live up to expectations! Not really fast flowing! But apart from that! I did enjoy my day, but a little expensive for what I was expecting to receive for my money

This hotel is really good although if wanting the best experience I would recommend the premium room or higher as the standard rooms won't be the best but still acceptable for a hotel especially the oldest in Nottingham. I had a standard room this time and wasn't happy with it so I asked for an upgrade was willing to pay the extra cost but the amazing staff let me have a premium room for no extra cost which was great. Breakfast is good the staff are very polite and there's lots of food choice available. The TVs in the hotel are extremely dated and the universal remotes can be fiddely but this doesn't bother me too much. Hotel internet is impressively fast with 100Mbps download and around 130Mbps upload allowing you to connect your own devices and watch movies, stream, work or whatever with ease. The one complaint I will make which isn't really a complaint was I ordered some food with deliveroo but quickly realized we didn't have any cutlery so I called reception asked for some forks and they said they'd be right up but nobody came (I ended up using the already provided spoons to eat my curry as it was late and I didn't want to cause anymore of a fuss). Overall its a great hotel experience and I'll be sure to checkout the bar next time I stay here. If you're looking for one of the cheapest stays with a great experience this is the hotel for you.

We had a pleasant stay, very helpful and friendly staff checked us in. We stayed on the 4th floor and so had the opportunity to use the stunning staircase. Loved the history of the hotel and the numerous period features. Really is a stunning building. We stayed in one of the hotels city pad rooms which had everything we needed but was very small with the bed pushed against the wall so one person had to climb over the other to get out! The central location was excellent. I’d definitely stay here again but would probably book a standard room rather than the city pad room.

Check in process was quick and easy. The room was small for a double and due to the age of the building the floors were very uneven (2"different in height from one end of the room to the other). The main issue was the secondary window was broken so the noise from adjoining bars was audible. You could see from the damage that this had happened some time ago and the failure to repair caused a loss of sleep. There was a visible hole in the carpet which you would not expect from a boutique hotel.

Be careful which room you book! Room 314 is like a couple of broom cupboards. It was awfully small and poorly maintained. It was clean, however. No space to walk.around the bed without knocking the wall mointed tv. Bed was uncomfortable....not all lights in room and bathroom worked. Shower is for very very small people only! Not a normal Mecure standard room at all....more akin to Ibis budget.

Upon arrival at the hotel we were very pleased with the location as its based in the middle of the city centre which was ideal for us as we were there for New Year celebrations. The room we had booked was a City Pad room, although we we're expecting a small and compact room we were surprised to find out just how small it was and the room seemed very dated and not well maintained at all. We complained to the management who were very accommodating and offered to upgrade us with no hesitation at all and even gave us two complimentary drinks to order at the bar. The upgraded room was much better, everything you would expect from a hotel room and more importantly much more room to move about and very clean. All in all very happy a pleasant experience and a very quirky hotel.

One of the cheapest hotels in Notts but the quality for the price is unmatched. Very fair prices, great location and very friendly staff. Staff aren’t afraid to go out of their way to help you during your stay if you require a phone charger or anything just enquire with them at the front desk. For the oldest hotel in Nottingham it’s pretty good inside, air con works amazing, TVs are great and the bathroom despite not being 100% spotless was still very nice. Room had a mini fridge, bath towels and even a bath robe which was very cool. Recommend for anyone on a budget that wants a good stay for a fair price (bargain price) or even if you have cash then enjoy the best room they offer which is the one I stayed in.

My room was a little dated with some cosmetic issues but it was comfortable, clean and warm. Darren on the front desk is very helpful and friendly.

It was very convenient for events in city centre, beds were comfy, had to get maintenance for minor problem, he was there in 10- 15 mins, so excellent service.

The excellent handyman fixed all the problems with the room. Luckily I bumped into him coming out the lift. Afternoon reception was ineffective.

I had a standard room this time and wasn't happy with it so I asked for an upgrade was willing to pay the extra cost but the amazing staff let me have a premium room for no extra cost which was great. The TVs in the hotel are extremely dated and the universal remotes can be fiddely but this doesn't bother me too much. Hotel internet is impressively fast with 100Mbps download and around 130Mbps upload allowing you to connect your own devices and watch movies, stream, work or whatever with ease. The one complaint I will make which isn't really a complaint was I ordered some food with deliveroo but quickly realized we didn't have any cutlery so I called reception asked for some forks and they said they'd be right up but nobody came (I ended up using the already provided spoons to eat my curry as it was late and I didn't want to cause anymore of a fuss). Overall its a great hotel experience and I'll be sure to checkout the bar next time I stay here. If you're looking for one of the cheapest stays with a great experience this is the hotel for you.

Great location and friendly staff on reception. We stayed 2 nights and the room wasn’t serviced so had to request extra tea, milk and water. Only a small thing but I like to have plenty to drink in the room. Rooms are starting to look a little tired but the bed was very comfortable

Convenient location for city centre.

This hotel is in the heart of the city surrounded by lots of great restaurants and shops. Close to the castle and everywhere was walkable. Friendly helpful staff and a clean comfortable room.

The hotel was in a great location. It is right in the city centre, near a tram stop and 10 minutes walk from the train station. The staff were really friendly and showed interest in why we were visiting Nottingham. The room had some character and the decor and decoration was great. There’s a club/bar that you could hear music from but it wasn’t over powering so still slept. The main down side was the bed, it was a 3/4 bed but on my booking it said a double.

Location excellent, slap bang in the city centre. Parking a 2 minute walk from the hotel but not enough information on the website. Reception staff helpful and moved us to another room when we complained about the noise. The noise was an issue, as its a central hotel it was incredibly noisy, we were above a club but even when we moved to another room we could still hear the street noise. If you're looking for a quiet weekend away this isn't the hotel for you, however, if you want to be in the middle of everything then great location

Ideal city centre location with everything you need nearby. Given the location, we were blown away by how quiet the room was at night - neither of us heard a peep from the street below! Would definitely stay again.

Staff at front desk very pleasant. It was late at night and I had only just booked having arrived at a different hotel to find the room had not been cleaned prior to my stay. The room was very small but adequate. Bathroom was good and everywhere was very clean and well appointed. I was given a complimentary breakfast which was very nice
