Catalonia Yucatan Beach - All Inclusive

I wish the pools were open longer besides that a great experience would come back.

Experience as an all inclusive was average. The staff is amazing, and security is top notch. There is quite a difference in the condition of rooms and property from the "average" side of yucatan beach vs the "privileged" side of maya riviera. The washrooms are far away from the beach and are in need of some maintenance. The way the resort functions is why we dont be returning. The bars close before dinner (except the beach bar) and the pools get treated right after, so no after dinner/ evening swim. There wasnt really any entertainment, in the evenings there is one option (sportsbar/club) open at a time and they arent real rockin. The staff go above and beyond and the service is genuinely impressive, but the way the resort functions was certainly lack lustre. Spa was excellent, however.

The staff was very courteous, the grounds are very nice, lots of pools, swim up bars etc., there’s a club on the compound which is great, you don’t need to go anywhere and the food was delicious, the rooms can do with some updating but a vacation need not be spent in a room

Pleasantly surprised by this resort. My room was clean! The staff were friendly and helpful. The buffets where what would be expected for an all inclusive and far from terrible. Specialty restaurants were good! The beach bar was fun and had the greatest bartenders, the beach itself was small. My biggest complaint was the sports bar did not open until 5 pm daily(even Sunday) and for some reason the lighting inside was overly bright. Also nearby was a marina with many bars and restaurants so we watched football there. Overall I had a great week! I went with 33 of my friends from Canada and I know they had a great time as well!

Overall the stay was terrible. You don’t have access to all the restaurants on the resort. Pools close at 6pm. The swim up bars close at 7. The whole resort shuts down at midnight. So drinking and late night food isn’t an option. The buffet food isn’t good. They ran out of plates and also cannot seat everyone. Restaurants wouldn’t allow us to make reservations but also wouldn’t seat us when we tried to walk in. Drinks aren’t strong. The liquor is cheap liquor. The pool water is hot that it’s not even enjoyable. The front desk made us wait in a 30min line to check out. We paid for an ocean front view and our view was the back of a trash can and building. 90% of the view was blocked and 10% was the ocean. The ocean is nasty rocky. There’s no cabanas to sit on or even try to enjoy the beaches. The beach is dirty. Barrels in the water. I’ve stayed at several resorts all over Mexico and this is by far the worst one. I wouldn’t go back if you paid me. The saying “you get what you pay for” doesn’t even apply here. It’s a cheaper stay but still not worth it.

Nothing was as advertised. Couldn’t access half of the restaurants. Wasn’t advised one of the two buffets was closed for construction. The noise was horrible at two of the pools because of it. Worst food I’ve ever had at every restaurant option available.

The resort was good but could have been better if we could have used the other restaurants on site. Next time I would definitely book the Catalonia Maya Rivera. The staff, pool swim up bar, theater, and lounges were fantastic! The only down sides were the stinky smell from the seaweed (which was not the resorts fault) and the rooms were very out dated. We could not utilize the other restaurants because we could not get reservations, except the buffet which was not too bad since the food was ok and was different every night. Also no room service, will not stock your mini fridge with anything except water.

What an amazing resort. My family and I had the time of our lives. Everyone was nice, accommodating and it was extremely comfortable. The rooms are slightly dated. However, they kept them in good condition and clean.

El peor Hotel que he visitado en mi vida las habitaciones viejos y sucias rotas los baños ni hablar de la suciedad, solicitamos un cambio de habitación por problemas del aire acondicionado y el baño que estaba roto y no tuvimos éxito pues el hotel estaba lleno, al otro día nos cambiaron para una igual descuidada en general muy malo, las opciones para comer son bien pocas y de muy mala calidad, si no quieren arruinar sus vacaciones no vallan a este hotel

The building is so old and need urgent maintenance! Room : room phone, safe box, security lock, balcony lock, tv WAS NOT WORKING, Bathroom: so dirty not cleaned for a long time, after request they cleaned. Beach: not enough chairs and shade , too many rocks can’t walk by the beach same in water Food: could pass but could be better Restaurant: if you reserve at 8:00 am you can get reservations otherwise it’s booked quick cause small restaurant.

What a beautiful hotel, facilities and staff. Super clean and friendly staff. Everyday was so much fun. The water was so clean and clear. We went on a family vacation for Christmas. What a perfect time and place. Thanks Catalonia for this memorial holiday.

The rooms are very outdated. It is a shame to put guests in rooms with moldy mattresses, the bathroom door literally peeling off, with dirty/moldy corners. The hotel needs renovation. The food and drinks were excellent. Housekeeping would clean rooms every day. The beach has rocks in the water-a lot, can’t walk in there. Staff, servers and bartenders, are outstanding. This hotel is part of the gated community, so it’s pretty around it.

Staff and outside areas were very good. Rooms were very dated and not well maintained with numerous issues such as: multiple ants in bathroom, bathroom sink did not drain, main door only partially opened due to sticking on bottom, balcony light was burned out and reported with no follow up. Buffet food was good but never changed from day to day. Booking for the ala cartes was next to impossible forcing most people to give up or try and get in on a cancellation which meant waiting for extended periods at the restaurant hoping to get in. The 4 star rating was appropriate for the staff and outside amenities but certainly not the rooms or food.

Nicely set up with great view of everything, very clean and quiet. Needs updating but work is being done all over. Great staff!!

This hotel has a beautiful view; but the rooms needs maintenance on all areas, not coffee maker to do my night tea. No snacks in the room only water and if you don’t left a empty bottle they are not putting more water just one bottle. Not body lotion the towels are grays, missing towels for face etc.

The hotel has lovely beach pools and activities. The rooms are a massive let down! They are so old and tatty; broken tiles in the shower door is peeling off really old ! Also no tea/ coffee making facilities which is a minimum even at the cheapest hotel. The rooms are big aircon is good and bed is comfortable so I’m not sure why there isn’t the minimal investment in fixing up the things? We stayed in many similar hotels at 4 and 5 star hotels so we have a good idea of what standards we should meet. The food in the open restaurant is hit and miss although always plentiful and no waiting . The a la carte restaurants are super difficult to book and the Italian was terrible. I’m a chef myself and it seems like the basic concepts / flavours of Italian kitchen are just not met … The pizza was so poor it was like a Tesco smart price from the freezer with not enough cheese on. When I ordered it I was told it would be 45 minutes, that should have rang the alarm bells but there you go.Had carpaccio, no olive oil at all! And the Tiramisu was a chocolate Swiss roll 😇 I nearly went in the kitchen to lend a hand Just an advice there in all seriousness it might be a good idea to fly in a proper Italian chef to build you up for month and you will have a menu you can be proud of. Bar staff everywhere was lovely and all in all we did relax and enjoyed our stay

I recently stayed at this hotel, and it was, without a doubt, the worst experience I've had in all my years of traveling. From the moment we arrived, the staff was unhelpful and inattentive. The conditions of the hotel were deplorable — far worse than I could have imagined. The buffet was terrible, with very limited options, and there wasn’t even any meat available. There were no à la carte restaurants to make up for it either. The pools lacked entertainment, and there were not nearly enough chairs around the pool area for guests. As for the rooms, they were not only outdated but had no upgrades whatsoever. There was no minibar, and the air conditioning barely worked. The bed was uncomfortable to the point of making it difficult to sleep. On the first day, they gave us the worst rooms possible, and despite our complaints, they refused to change our rooms until the next day at 3 PM. Even then, the air conditioning was still not functioning properly. I've been visiting Mexico for 12 years, and this was by far the worst experience I've ever had. We were there as a family, including my kids, and the general manager never once made an effort to speak with us or address our concerns. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone and will certainly never be returning.

Nice smaller beach with breakwater. Dining option non-existent, reservations gone at 8 am. Two buffets were good. Friendly staff, clean. Basic rooms could use upgrades, we weren’t there for the rooms. Great wifi. Overall would stay again

This resort should be rated more accurately as a 3-star resort. The rooms were very dated, and the one I stayed in was very musty and likely had mold. Food and beverages were average, as you’d expect at a 3-star resort. Service was good, but nothing to rave home about. I tried both A la carte restaurants, which was a pain to reserve - the Mexican place had delicious food but subpar inattentive service, while the food at the Italian restaurant was very bland. The property has a nice layout and good facilities, but as this was a quick last minute vacation, overall I wouldn’t return nor recommend.

I only spent 2 days here. The staff were an absolute delight. They switched me rooms as my first one was right by the bar and the music prevented me from sleeping well. My second room had a water leak whenever someone above me showered. They put in a maintenance request but I didn’t see anyone in the 12 waking hrs I had that room. And it only happened for short stints when they showered. It leaked in the bathroom. Check in and out was super easy. The pool here is very nice and the beach is ok. But the ocean wasn’t delightful for swimming which I very much enjoy. Bars were good, food was ok - I only ate at the buffet and the hot dog stand. Super great hotdogs and I’m not a big fan of hotdogs. Typical buffet offerings. Saw some people being over served alcohol which the resort should be mindful of. Perhaps such good service isn’t great when people are obviously intoxicated. All in all you have much the same experience here as you would a fancier resort. It’s smaller which is nice for easily getting to and from your room. And I met some very nice folks from around the world. Would come again if the opportunity arises.

Rooms AC wasn’t working, called to get it fixed and nothing was done. Rooms stayed hot through the night which was very uncomfortable and difficult to sleep. beach was filled with rocks instead of sand which was limited and closed off. Also, the rooms including furniture and bathroom area was very outdated, definitely don’t recommend if you are used to nice all-inclusive resorts.

Not a 4 star resort, more like 3 stars compared to others. The beach area was sufficiently large but very rocky when you enter and can hurt your feet. There is no real deep end, even while furthest away from sand you can still stand on your feet in many areas, so depth is inconsistent. Food was mostly plain and very basic in both the buffets and a la carte restaurants. I expected much better but got tired of eating the same things which were not interesting. Shrimp tacos at mexican restaurant were the only really good food. Disappointed that we found out we cannot eat at the asian restaurant because that is for privileged side only, though I dont see this resort as worth paying more for it. Rooms are outdated, and AC was extemely loud.

The staff was incredible here. Everyone went above and beyond to make our stay wonderful. We especially enjoyed Pedro the bartender at the swim up bar. He remembered our names from the first time he met us and would always say hi if he saw us on the resort. He even came out of the bar area to come and ask me if I wanted a drink on the pool deck. One of our best vacations was spent at Catalonia Yucatan! The snorkelling on site was some of the best I’ve ever seen! We snorkelled every day and I highly recommend bring your own mask set. You can sign them out on site but only for 45 min a day. Renting a golf cart for the day ($60usd) was a huge plus for our teenagers. They were able to explore safely in the gated community giving them a change of scenery. 5 🌟 from us!

I wish I could give it zero or negative stars. Check in was a nightmare. Room wasn’t ready. Leaky ceiling from AC led my 76 year old mother to falling down and manager didn’t even care about her well being and just said someone will be there to look at the AC. My daughter’s clothes were stolen at the pool. A worker snatched food from my fiancés hand and said no we are closing even though there were a few minutes left. We lost power on a 90 degree day and it took them hours to send someone to look at it. Rooms were outdated and dirty. Broken safes and blow dryers. The list goes on. We had three rooms. It was the most awful experience ever. DO NOT EVER GO!!!!!

First time staying here and location was great. Everything needed was all in one location which made it very convenient. Two major cons for us was the their restaurant reservation service and AC. Staff will tell you in order to reserve your dinner plans at their fine restaurants, you have to be up and ready to sign up by 7:55am - 8am. If you miss those slots, you’re out of luck. We were on vacation for 5 days and not once were we able to get a spot. Their app / website kept kicking us out and not allowing us to complete confirmation. We called the front desk, woke up earlier to make sure we gad time, and even walked to the service center area for help and nothing. Lady kept telling us there’s nothing they can do. We witnessed two other families complaining about the same thing. Horrible! Highly recommend for them to review their app service and fix because there were some pretty upset families during the dining reservation process. Good luck.

They have 4 dining areas, 1 is the main buffet, a hamburger joint with a limited menu and 2 specialty restaurants that you can never book. The Bad • Check-in was like exiting the Cancun airport into the time-share sales area as they tried to upsell us to a better room and more restaurants at their sister resort next door. When we declined the clerk made a show of changing our wrist bands. On checking, the upgrade price was almost double what it would cost to book at the sister resort directly. • Booking restaurants is via a web-based app that never worked and provided no feedback as to why. Customer service staff at the front desk were indifferent and unhelpful only stating they were booked up so reservations would be difficult. The Good • The resort itself is nicely laid out, clean and mostly well-maintained. It is older and in need of updating, which they are in the process of doing. Our room was showing its age but very clean. • The staff, for the most part, were pleasant, smiling and helpful and the nightly shows were incredible. The So-So • With really, only one main dining facility, the food was disappointing. It was the same day-after-day, bland, overcooked and seldom above tepid. I wound up sticking to the awesome soups, and salads, so my waist thanked me for that. Bottom line – you can find better resorts then the Yucatan Beach

They staff was friendly and helpful the whole time. Little disappointed that after i upgraded that i wasn't able to book dining reservations until a day or 2 being there, but it was fixed. The wait staff everywhere was welcoming and courteous. Will definitely be back.

Really loved the location of this resort. Our room was old, had a few "patches" on issues, but we didn’t mind. Really love the location and size of this resort. Being a family resort, I found the night entertainment to be too late. Myself and my teens would go to the sportsbar, shoot some pool and head to bed before the shows even started. Aside from the beach show. We were there for everything else. Not the shows. So not disappointed. Will definitely be back.

Amazing time for our one year anniversary. The staff was amazing and so friendly. Breakfast is great. Lunch and dinner buffet is mid. For the price you pay way worth it. Obviously an older resort which is outdated and needs renovations in the rooms. But think about what you pay compared to other resorts. Ocean access is basically a lagoon area that’s blocked off to the ocean by rocks due to high current and waves. Beautiful reefs to snorkel. Rocky entrance to the water but once you’re out it’s sandy and beautiful!

The staff were amazing but the beach is small and not enough chairs, the food is good but constant repeats of the same dishes, there is not access to 7 restaurants as advertised there is only 3 do we ate many meals at buffet. Shower water cold everyday The resort is in a gated area which makes it hard to get out to other locations - there is no transportation readily available and long can ride just to get out of gated area. The amazing thing was watching staff totally clean out rooms when people checked out - all furniture moved and all areas cleaned before next guests. We will not recommend or come back here. Very disappointing.

Small, quieter resort. Walking distance to marina.

Room was out of date but the rest of the property was good. Eating in the resort is what you would expect from an all-inclusive budget friendly resort. Staff was great. Dining options around the marina are great too. Really secure area with a ton of families. Night life is non-existent in the area. Would return and recommend the hotel though!

This was our second stay at the property and we enjoyed it yet another time. Great service by the staff, the free kayaking and snorkeling makes it even better (there are many different types of fishes in the sea). the complete Puerto Aventura campus is a specially built community for vacationers so it is very safe to walk around at any time.

Great property in a gated community, love the short walk to the dolphin show and shopping. Beach was quite rocky and the lagoon was slimey.

I really enjoyed how they had areas of the sea blocked off and you could snorkel and see a variety of fish for free. The buffets had great variety and were plentiful. Great drink selection. The rooms are showing some wear, and the night club music was at an obnoxious level. Staff were friendly. A good variety of families, adults of all ages but not a lot of your hard partiers.

Food options low.

Some of the stuff are very nice and friendly while the one in management are very rude and obnoxious. They serve the same food everyday for breakfast lunch and dinner. No different selection unless you go to the specialty restaurant which you have to pay for.

Food exceeded expectations; speciality restaurant were great. room was lovely; beautiful view to the sea grounds and beach area were pleasant drinks were disappointing - sicky sweet tropical drinks; only draught beer; cheap substitutes for things like Bailey's and Kalua

Not clear on what is included in your package. The rooms are mediocre at best. The food is not great at all and not helpful with gluten free accommodations.

I didn’t like the La carte booking option, could not get the time slots we wanted and when we did we noticed empty tables which we could have used for our group. A lot of people seem to have not attended their booking.
