Scamander Beach Resort

It was clean and comfortable and staff were helpful. It needs a bit of a facelift, lift broke down the day we were leaving!

It was a beautiful spot .staff were excellent bar, dining, pool, playground and right across the road from an amazing beach.

Easy to book, the staff member who served us was lovely the room was well presented and clean parking was good and the restaurant food was reasonably and very enjoyable would definitely stay there again

Property is right next to the sage of bridges. Elevator contains information about local sight seeing options. Staff are incredibly kind and helpful, both at reception and in the eatery. Room was fairly well cleaned and linen was suitable. Elevator was available for upper floors, despite it being quite old and rickety. Downsides were the shower was terrible - unless you got the pressure just right, it sprays water up onto the ceiling, over the shower curtain, into the bathroom. Flooding the bathroom as there isn’t a drainage hole imminent. As reception is only open during day time, there were no extra towels to rectify this. On that topic, no facecloths were provided in the rooms. Also frustrating that the guest laundry only has one washer and one dryer, and is only open from 9am to 5pm. Lastly, when we arrived at 6:30pm there were absolutely no parks in the car park because of people coming to be at the eatery. Once people starting leaving, enough parking opened up for accommodation guests, but it was very offputting. There were occasions where there could have been more parks available if people parked closer together - perhaps some lines sprayed on the ashphalt would be good to guide people into parks. As I said, the reception and eatery staff were absolutely amazing, but some of the facilities could have been rearranged and upgraded to make it a better stay.

Lovely place with fantastic view from our room and balcony! Room was small but set up well. Property had great grounds, a swimming pool, easy parking and a restaurant with where enjoyed dining. All this for a great price! Only negative was that the bathroom, despite being renovated was extremely small.

Upkeep leaves a little to de desired. Great location, staff were excellent, convenient to get to the base/restaurant and bottle shop

The staff were extremely helpful and friendly making our 7 day stay just like home away from home. So convenient to beach and on site swimming pool, great on site restaurant and additional Bar area and just a short 20 minute drive to StHelens. I thoroughly recommend the Scamander Beach Resort. Great property! The room was lovely. Very clean with the standard amenities. Very comfortable bed and pillows (with extras in the wardrobe). Both the bar and restaurant were lovely. Lots of options for reasonable prices. There is also a bottle shop on the property. You can walk to the beach or make short drives to TONS of walking trail options in the area. What really makes this property stand out though is the staff:) Every person I interacted with from the front desk, bar, restaurant or housekeeping staff was just so pleasant and helpful, it really makes a difference and they are doing a superb job! 10 stars, highly recommend

Only the staff and food at the restaurant were amazing. The rooms were below the standard for what we paid, no hot water and no daily room cleaning.

The hotel was pretty old. Fawcets were dripping and carpet in my sisters room was sticky.

The first room we were given had a shockingly dirty carpet. The second room was better but the whole place needs a lot of updating. The carpet is worn, the curtains have holes, the shower had mold and the refrigerator smelled horrible.

Room floors not clean. Too noisy may be due to lots of people coming in. But okay for a night stay.

Location was great for the area. The room was small With thin walls. There was no lock on the balcony door and no extra latch on the front door.

The queen bed was very comfortable and the view from the room was beautiful. The bathroom needed to be renovated and the room needed new paint and carpet.

Great view from the balcony, extremely relaxing. However, sliding door to balcony very hard to slide open. The room we had adjoined the motor room for the lifts (not for our block of units), this was very noisy whenever the lift went up or down.

Nice area with friendly staff. Water in the shower was a problem. Poor pressure and temperature not consistent.

Lovely refurbished King bedroom on the second level. Not good soundproofing or security. It would have been better with a dead lock. Dinner at bistro was nice with pleasant staff and reasonable prices. Rivermouth Cafe across the road was brilliant for coffee and breakfast! Unreal location!

Look for an alternative option! We bailed on the paid for second night & slept elsewhere. You can find more structural integrity in a dunked biscuit than the so-called mattress we endured. Pretty sure the walls in a hostel offer more privacy.

Staff were very lovely. Room was a bit dated. Bathroom needs to be renovated and there was no fan. Also hot water ran out after a few minutes. But everything was clean and staff was very helpful for dinners ect.

Great view from our room.Letdown was the shower.Such a low showerhead!

Room was ok but no aircon

The room was extremely small for a family of 2A 2C. No exhaust fan in bathroom and the shower head sprayed water everywhere. There was minimal lighting in room. We only had a one night stay. The restaurant was great and the service from restaurant staff was very good. The view from our room was spectacular.

We had pre-booked and turned up to check in and for them to tell us they were booked out. Not happy about it at all as we had to scramble to find alternative accommodation where everything was booked out on the east coast. Could only find something so far away that made it logistically unable for us to come back to experience the area.

Room was nice and clean however when walked in approaching the check in desk i was made to feel belittled as the receptionists was flustered at the computer and asked me to wait when i never even sais anything

Very beautiful service from staff. Restaurant service. . Wow. Cant fault the staff. My awkward request, main menu modified to entree'. Beautiful scallops and prawn fettuccine. Oh my. So nice, light pasta and sauce. Just melts in the mouth. Strongly recommend the place any day.

Great staff

Staff were helpful, friendly and professional. The location was ideal, close to the beach. The food in the restaurant was so good.

Not a happy person at reception, definitely couldn’t get in till 2, 4 hrs cleaning as your out at 10.00 am and not one empty room, curtains were so long I nearly tripped over them, very noisy could here next door and above clearly, had pets there not sure about that, lots kids, will look for something a bit better next time, it was expensive for the room type we got.

Amazing spot near the beach

Great location and view

Good place to stop and unwind. Beautiful view of the beach. Unfortunately access to the beach is a bit difficult due to the river mouth. Great cafes etc very close.

Had a meal at the bistro, ordered a wagyu done medium, they sent out a flake and chips I asked them for my wagyu done medium again and it came out rare bleeding all over the plate into the chips and salad. The beds were hard as the floor and the door to the balcony never had a lock on it. Overall, very poor, would not recommend to anyone.

The room was old & outdated. We had a terrible nights sleep as you can feel every spring in the bed. It was extremely uncomfortable. No fan in the bathroom either. Had dinner in the restaurant which is overpriced & has limited options.

Staff were amazing. Restaurant was lovely. Room was acceptable. Some old damage to carpet but was clean.

A beautiful room very comfortable bed we had a fabulous view onsite restaurant very pleasant staff

Food was VERY AVERAGE, Table next to an outside door, hopeless with people comming and going. Went to the St Helens RSL the following evening, the same meal ws a factor of 10 better. I travel for work all over Australia, this could NOT be called a Resort by any standards, at best a 3 Star motel.

Staff were helpful, friendly and professional. The location was ideal, close to the beach. The food in the restaurant was so good.
