Shibuya Excel Hotel Tokyu

Very friendly staff, good location although difficult to find. The bar and the restaurant at the hotel closed very early in the evening.

Our stay at the Shibuya Excel Hotel was nice. The location is excellent and the room was decent. We had nicer rooms in other hotels in the Tokyo area (of similar cost). The fitness room in this hotel is not acceptable for a high end hotel. The rest of the hotel was nice.

This hotel is in the center of the Shibuya Scramble Crossing. The location is amazing for sites and transport (Shibuya Station connects to the hotel). You’re minutes away from Takeshita Street and Shinjuku. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. While the area is insanely busy, the hotel is surprisingly quiet. The views are incredible and the breakfast buffet is delicious (the buffet has Japanese and Western dishes and is on the 25th floor with lovely views as far as the eye can see). The hotel rooms are on the smaller side and the bathrooms are a little dated and small (they remind me of cruise ship bathrooms but ours had a bathtub). All in all, though, we truly enjoyed our stay here. The hotel lobby is on the 5th floor of the Shibuya Smart City building; we had a hard time finding the entrance from where the taxi dropped us off on the side street. The basement floor of the building is a grocery store where the displays are works of art and the ground/first floor is entirely dedicated to sweets. Think of large department store jewelry and make up display counters filled with the most decadent sweets. Shibuya is full of places to eat.

We chose this hotel because it was directly on top of Shibuya Scramble Crossing. The rooms are clean; the staff are professional. The 5th floor cafe, and the elevator foyer on each floor has a clear view of the scramble crossing for that unique photo and video angle. The bus terminal is attached to the hotel. It is the first stop for the bus to Mount Fuji, and the first stop for the airport limo bus. On our last day, we chose to take the airport limo bus instead of the Narita Express, and I would absolutely take the airport limo bus again: more comfortable, and no need to lug luggage on the subway system. The one downside of the room was the safe; because it is top loading (not front loading) and small, I could not secure my 14" ThinkPad laptop. I was able to secure my 11" iPad.

You can get to she subway from within the hotel building. There is a mall attached to the hotel. Super convenient to everything in Tokyo. Excellent choice of places to stay. The meds are quite hard for western standards but we learned this was common among all hotels. There’s a “fitness room” which is basically just a treadmill and a small workout machine. They will help with luggage transfer when you are moving to other cities. It’s easy and cheap. Theres a small fridge and water in the room. Microwaves by the elevators on several of the floors. Washer/dryer on several floors that take the 100 coin yen only.

This hotel is just a step away from the train station. It is located within Mark City shopping center and has Airport Limousine bus drop off on the upper level. Shibuya crossing is 1 minute away .

This is my favorite hotel in Tokyo - right above the famous Shibuya Crossing and very convenient for all shopping, restaurants, and transportation. The high floor rooms have incredible views - I like the Shinjuku side. One big plus: the Limousine Bus to Haneda comes directly to the 4th floor hotel entrance.

Very convenient place to stay at - literally right beside shibuya station and has a good view of the shibuya crossing as we have stayed at the 15th floor. Shopping district is right outside the hotel. The best part for us was that the airport limousine bus is right outside this hotel. Overall, a very convenient stay.

wonderful hotel, easy walk to everywhere, connecting to a subway and a shopping center. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Standard rooms are consider big for the location, clean and full or considering features. The only thing this place could add is more dining and bar options.

Reasonable rate and convenient location. The bathroom smelled a bit dirty. The hallway smelled moldy.

Dirt/mold in bathroom. Stayed one night for view of Shibuya crossing. That was good. Was surprised by dirt in cracks of bathroom and on shower head. Unusual for Japan where cleanliness standards are very high. Can't add photos to this review. Try Shibuya Stream nearby for a better stay, can find view of Shibuya crossing from Starbucks, department store, etc.

Clean just or is a bit small in size

The staff were pleasant. The room was a little dated and the carpet appeared dirty and needed to be replaced.

The hotel feels quite dated. The carpet had visible stains, which gave the room an unclean impression. The bathroom only had a tub with a handheld shower head, which is inconvenient—especially in a smaller room. A walk-in shower would have been much more practical. There’s no lounge access, and the breakfast was mediocre at best—bland and lacking in flavor. Overall, the experience did not meet expectations for the price.

The hotel is very outdated. It is located inside the metro station, so it can be a blessing and a curse. Shibuya Crossing is right outside the hotel but honestly is not as much of an attraction one may think. Hotel rooms are small but fine but youre just paying for the location which isnt even ideal for most tourists.

The room was clean & comfortable. Great view of Shibuya crossing. However, the aircon is not very strong, room was warm eventhough the aircon was set to lowest temp & high fan speed.

Excellent location in Shibuya - walking distance to a ton of great shopping and dining as well as public transportation. You can easily get anywhere in Tokyo from here. Room was a good size, bathroom felt cramped and was a bit outdated but the great location and very helpful staff make this a very solid choice.

My second time staying here. It would have been perfect, but our room faced a GIANT electronic billboard, which was on from about 9am-9pm. My friend's room also faced the same billboard. We both had triple beds, so not sure if that was a coincidence or not.

This hotel location is perfect for first time travelers to Tokyo! Shops, restaurants and train station are within walking distance. The room was a little dated, but we were upgraded to the 23rd floor with the Shibuya crossing view! Would love to stay here again!

Overall great experience, but there was a lot of elections going on and they were on a megaphones in the streets 24 seven and you could hear it all night.

Hotel was very accessible. Staff not very helpful. Didn’t offer to help out with our luggage bringing to our room.

We had an important event to attend and our reserved cab arrived late, so we had no choice but to cancel and leave quickly. Unfortunately, one of the staff members made a huge scene, treating us as if we had done something wrong. While that was already uncomfortable, what’s worse is that we reported the incident to the manager, and never heard back. I’m mainly leaving this negative review because the manager completely ignored our complaint. It’s very disappointing and unprofessional that no one followed up, regardless of whether the issue was valid or not. A manager should always respond when a guest raises a concern.

Pros - the staff. Best thing hands down about this hotel. I messed up and completely missed one day of hotels during our entire trip (bouncing between a couple locations). I was confused with what happened and what I did. I wasn’t sure if we left Kyoto a day early or if I mixed up what days we were in Tokyo. I was trying to figure out what to do with the clerk. I canceled one Expedia booking and got refunded and rebooked for an extra night. The clerk helping us originally told us it would be roughly 800 for one night. We asked for a moment while we figured it out. I ended up rebooking through Expedia for two nights and just got a smaller room and it was roughly 800. The clerk then up upgrading our our standard two twin room to a corner two full size room on the 23 floor overlooking Shibuya crossing. It was absolutely beautiful. I cried at their hospitality, kindness, and patience with me while I figured out my mess up. My girls loved sitting at the window and just watching the people and sunset. The rooms are beautiful and larger than what we’ve had in Japan. I wish I got his name, he was amazing and I just want to say thank you one more time for the beautiful memories he gave us. The only cons, beds are not as comfortable as the ones we stayed at Kyoto. Also, the laundry machines are old and don’t work well. Clothes didn’t come out very clean from the washer and wouldn’t dry in the dryer on the 10th floor. After 800 yen, I gave up and hung them up.

Excellent staff and location. 4th stay at this hotel. Concierge is excellent in areaging transportation, receiving packages and helping me mail out a package. Location is as ideal as you can get. Right next to the Shibuya Scramble and connected to the Shibuya Station.

It’s conveniently located. The Narita Express takes you straight to Shibuya. And the service at the hotel is excellent.

The hotel is in an excellent location..we did struggle to find the hotel on arrival, but this is due to all the construction work being carried out in the area

Great right on square

Right in the middle of Shibuya, same building as the station. Couldn’t be more convenient if you’re looking for a very central location.

1) Very convenient location in the center of Shibuya - middle of everything. 2) Construction on going so when getting out of Shibuya station for 1st time visitors: - Google map can confuse you more than help. - ask hotel to show you an "indoor tunneling - up and down floors and stairs" way to get to hotel. OR Get out to Central Exit at ground level. Look for the Starbucks opposite this Shibuya Excel Hotel on right - they are both in the Mark City complex. 3) hotel staff is good 4) Minor issue was since there are construction scaffolds around the lounge area (5F) your view is obstructed if having drinks and take in the view. Windows from front of any higher rooms (with city view) can offer unobstructed views as well. 5) Mark City Food Show Shopping area is convenient. *** Guests!!! - watch out for the French bakery Les Deux Magots at entrance next to the Food Show: they take advantage of tourists - charged different price for the same thing on different days (most bread loaves don't have price stickers) and don't return change when you don't pay attention. I was in a hurry, was careless, didn't count change - when I came back - they acted like they don't know anything and the "maggot" owner used Google translate to show me that they returned my change. Any idiot can do so - BTW - it's a free American software. I can afford a $300 room, I can forgive them for cheating me a few dollars - but be warned!

Excellent location to shopping or transport.

The location is perfect right in the middle of Shibuya, easy access to the metro stations , also you can take pictures of the Shibuya crossing from the top, the staff it’s so polite, and the buffet its alright

The hotel was nice but the location was difficult to find, would be helpful if they communicated that the hotel is on the 5th floor of Mark.

Absolutely outstanding hotel experience. The location was perfect, the breakfast was amazing, and the staff went above and beyond. They will forward your luggage to the airport, and I missed the deadline for that, but they found a place that could could get it done in time. I will book this hotel every time i go to Tokyo. Oh yeah, and the view of Shibuya Scramble was terrific.

Wonderful time at this hotel in a prime location to the crossing and so many shops! The breakfast was a 10/10. I would stay here again

great location in Tokyo which is why we chose it. Breakfast buffet content good but we found it crowded. cafe on ground floor good but ordering via QR code

Il y a un seul vrai restaurant dans tout l’hôtel. On est arrivé à 19h30 pour le souper et on nous a refusé l’accès bien que ce soit indiqué sur leur site que la dernière admission est à 20h. On était obligé de sortir avec les enfants pour leur chercher à manger ailleurs car rien à commander au service aux chambres non plus:( Attention : pour le nettoyage de chambre: il faut le demander pour qu’ils le fassent. On ne le savais pas donc la chambre n’avait pas été nettoyé pendant tout notre séjour 😅
