Radisson Collection Hyland Shanghai

I have stayed in this hotel many times. Both as Radisson hotel but also before it was Radisson. Location is great, break fast is great and staff is great. The hotel is a bit old and worn but nothing serious,

How should I start? First, we arrived almost 2 hours after check in and our rooms were still not ready. I booked 2 rooms with twin beds each but we were informed they did not have our rooms and told to stay in rooms with queen beds instead. When I said we could not, they said they would separate the beds and it took some time to prepare the rooms. Mind you, we arrived hotel long after check in. Staff in reception could not care less about us. He did not give ANY information about the hotel, check out, facilities, breakfast etc and only told us to “sleep in queen beds” and then “wait”. I travel often and have preferred Radisson trusting the brand name but obviously I was wrong. Room was okayish, clean and small. But beds were very very small and uncomfortable. As you see in the photos, the twin bed is the size of a pillow, ie 80cm or so while queen bed is 2 times it. There was also literally no space between the two beds! Lastly, the bathroom has no privacy. Again, as you see in the photos, part of the glass is tinted while the other part is not. So if you are with a family member, friend etc, you will see each other naked! I travel often, go overseas once a month or so, and this was my 3rd time in Shanghai with my sisters and niece this time. I stayed on Nanjin Road previously as well and I can easily say this was my worst stay. The stay was definitely uncomfortable and reception could not care about guests let alone give any information about the hotel.

House keeping is great, the breakfast good, the workout facilities not so great, but the disappointment of the stay was that they gave some perks, which includes a shabby 30th floor “executive club” (terribly food - leftovers from breakfast?) and the discount on laundry was refused. I do not care about the monetary part, but the refusal to acknowledge their mistake and lack of attempt to make up (or even say sorry) was startling. A hotel with lots of Russian guests.

None of the in room phone are working. The exclusive twin bedroom, the lighting switches are hidden behind one of the pillows of the bed head, so every time we move in our sleep the light keep switching on. The attitude of the engineer that come to see the switch is really bad. Otherwise everything is ok.
