The hotel has an amazing common deck that is perfect for ocean viewing without leaving the property. It was the perfect place to recover from any ailment. The ocean breezes and views are very much healing!

Beautifully taken care of motel in the heart of Carlsbad. Gorgeous views from Breakfast dining room and outdoor deck. BREAKFAST WAS VERY hot and had many choices. Parking was safe and secure in individual car ports under the rooms. Easy to walk across the street to beach.Motel pool was crystal clean and warm from what we heard..we did not use it. Next time we will get a room with a balcony. A Great find!

The location of this property is fantastic. You can easily walk into the village or along the ocean. There are great public areas for having breakfast with a view and outdoor areas for swimming, sitting around the fire or watching the sunset. The electrical grid is inadequate. One morning, I plugged in the Keurig machine and blew a fuse. No one could seem to figure out what was wrong even after we had gone out for breakfast. The same thing happened the next morning in the breakfast area. Our last day the power went off in the room again when I turned on the hair dryer. If you have trouble with stairs, nothing is on one level even on the same floor, so it is hard to get around. Parking is a nightmare because the stalls are few and quite narrow, and you have to pay additional for it.

Gorgeous location. Across from one of Carlsbad’s gorgeous beaches. Walkable to lots of dining and shopping and of course the beach! Pretty view on the second floor balcony and a great breakfast. Parking is a little hard and costly at $20 per night but overall, clean rooms, nice amenities, very nice

This is an older hotel that is being taken care of very well. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend it. It's right across the street from Carlsbad State Beach and the breakfast room overlooks that. The ladies overseeing the complementary hot breakfast did an excellent job. We had an emergency next day delivery by UPS on Saturday morning and the front desk clerk called us as soon as it came in. It's refreshing when things happen just the way they should and believe me (I travel a lot) that doesn't always happen. Everybody was polite and helpful. Be advised that there is limited parking and they charge $18/night for on property parking. That said we parked on the side street within eyesight of our car for free. Near the beach these side streets fill up during the day but at night there wasn't any problem finding a spot. Right across the street was a little lunch spot called Harbor Beach Cafe with good clam chowder and Shrimp Louis Salad (best quality shrimp and dressing we encountered on our trip). A little pricy but remember all that maintenance and cleanliness isn't free. Lots of families with small children stayed there. This village is within walking distance .

I really liked the deck that you could sit at and see the ocean/beach. The staff was very nice. The breakfast was very good. The firepit was a plus. The room was very outdated and old, musty smell and the air conditioner never really worked and was noisy. The price was expensive for the type of rooms. The location was really nice.

Great location! Right across from the beach & walking distance to entire village 👍 Rooms are not fancy but comfortable and spacious. Daily, complimentary breakfast is well-stocked and has a large selection of things to choose from . Large balcony with chairs overlooking the ocean is a nice place to relax, as is the fire pit .

The staff members were friendly, especially the fellow who came to clean the toilet that had NOT been cleaned in advance of our arrival. The dirty toilet was off putting, to say the least. At least it was cleaned right away but we have NEVER had this problem anywhere EVER. Also, there is only ONE chair on each balcony--we have NEVER faced this situation before anywhere. Also, there are so many stairs everywhere that the danger of tripping and falling is serious. In fact, we witnessed one fall--luckily the victim didn't seem seriously hurt. Still, the location is great and the dining room and patio have great ocean views and, aside from the toilet, the room was clean.

We had originally booked 3 nights but ended up extending for a 4th night. The room was clean and spacious. The beds were a bit small, wished they were queens. Staff was friendly and helpful. Location was amazing. Would definitely go back.

This property is very outdated. The carpet is pretty dirty and ratty for a $400 a night plus charge they really ought to do better needs a facelift. I think they are relying on the property being in a good location so not bothering to up their game aside from the location. It’s nothing to write home about.

This property was in a perfect location, directly across the street from Carlsbad State Beach and 10 minute walk to the village. The hotel was clean and comfortable. Large rooms. Breakfast was fine. The usual hotel breakfast options. We had a great time at this hotel and Carlsbad. Will return.

We chose this hotel on hotel.com for its reviews and location. We booked two rooms and were given 55&54. Our room 55 faced the street. And a tree blocked the ocean view but we didn’t pay for ocean view so I was ok with that. The problem was the other room we booked was double the size and had a nice sink area and bathroom. It is obvious this hotel was an old apartment building and I’m not sure why the one room was so much smaller. The bathroom was dated and if we were staying longer than one night I would have been very disappointed. The positives now…The location of this hotel is AMAZING. Right across from the State beach. And the upstairs patio was perfect for beach view and people watching. Breakfast was basic but lots of options. Overall enjoyed our stay.

A very ordinary-looking motel located across from the very busy Carlsbad beach. The room was very large--a suite, really--but plain of decoration and with cranky, difficult-to-control air conditioning. If you are looking for beach access, it's fine, but Carlsbad Blvd has lots of traffic. Fortunately, the hotel has free parking

The lady at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. The location is great. But the rooms are horrible. The ac is so loud that it triggered my migraine, I slept poorly because it kept turning on with a tractor sound. The bathroom is so tight and old, dingy, I wouldn’t shower there even if you paid me. The elevator is rattling on the go, making you wonder if you will make it to your destination. The walls are paper thin, I could hear my neighbors chatting from my room. Some guests hung their filthy towels over the common stairs handles, those towels stayed untouched overnight. The parking spots are tight, though given the limited space it is predictable. I am never staying here again and I thoroughly regret doing so this time.

The beach view from the room was not unobstructed and barely visible. The location of the building was convenient however, the building was old and this was obvious and not worth the money they charged. The service was not good at all: they acted annoyed when we asked for more towels and to have the trash taken out on day 3 of a 5 day stay and we had asked for more TP and they never brought any so I had to go the front desk to get some. There is no housecleaning while you stay but you can ask but see above. The warm breakfast service was a nice touch but considering what we paid for the room and all the other things that lacked, it is not enough to want to go back. Also, they charge $19/day extra for parking which should be part of that ridiculous room charge.

The property manager seemed to be mean and tried to push us to follow some rules. We were sitting in the porch or common balcony and smoking at night time when no one was around specifically made sure to not disturb anyone and he suddenly came over and said thats a non smoking property which we did not realize and said sorry for that. But he was like pushing the chairs and taking the pillows we were sitting on and took the chairs and tried to re arrange and started repeating the same thing like it was in rules or something. Anyway, he could be more relaxed because its a vacation spot and people come there to be relaxed mood not to read every rule he has. Other than that bad experience. This property is close to beach Break fast is not bad Parking is not free, you need to find one on the street.

Made reservations at last minute and was very impressed. The grounds were lovely, simple walk to beach, good food nearby, loved the fire pit in the evening, the bed was comfy, the staff over the top. I would definitely go back.

My second time staying here… the staff is consistently and exceptionally friendly and helpful. The location is perfect across from the Carlsbad Beach and Seawall walk. Comfortable and homey environment. The free breakfast is excellent and the view is outstanding!

Best customer service we have seen at any hotel in our years of travel. Andrew at the front desk was polite, hospitable and overall a gem. Highly recommend this as a surf spot stay. Great location too.

This property was in a perfect location, directly across the street from Carlsbad State Beach and 10 minute walk to the village. The hotel was clean and comfortable. Large rooms. Breakfast was fine. The usual hotel breakfast options. We had a great time at this hotel and Carlsbad. Will return.

Our stay was enjoyable. The staff was friendly and efficient. It doesn't hurt that the hotel is close enough to the beach that you can watch the sunset, and still close enough to Carlsbad village that you can walk to restaurants

The location of this property is fantastic - right across the street from a paved ramp to the beach. We parked our car and left it for our entire stay since everything is walkable. Every evening before dinner we enjoyed a cocktail on the communal patio facing the beach. As other reviewers have stated, the staff could not be nicer or more helpful!

Gorgeous location. Across from one of Carlsbad’s gorgeous beaches. Walkable to lots of dining and shopping and of course the beach! Pretty view on the second floor balcony and a great breakfast. Parking is a little hard and costly at $20 per night but overall, clean rooms, nice amenities, very nice

Great location! Right across from the beach & walking distance to entire village 👍 Rooms are not fancy but comfortable and spacious. Daily, complimentary breakfast is well-stocked and has a large selection of things to choose from . Large balcony with chairs overlooking the ocean is a nice place to relax, as is the fire pit .

I just stayed at the Carlsbad Village Best Western and it was an absolutely delightful experience. The location is superb! it was lovely to have my coffee on the upstairs outdoor terrace, with a front-row seat for ocean viewing. The staff is helpful and friendly. My bed was very comfortable and I had plenty of clean towels. I plan to stay here in the future when I visit my son. So glad I found this gem!
