Really fun place. Needs some updates to rooms and pool/hot tub but overall nice

Ice machine was broken, pool was out of order. There were so many mosquitos in the area that were making their way into our room through the window ac unit. We killed about 15 mosquitos and still ended up with bite marks in the morning. Very disappointing stay, especially for the price and in Coronado, Ca.

Dated hotel, great location. Very walkable few blocks to the beaches. Great dining options in the area. Pool was freezing cold and hot tub was cold as the pool. Staff was non existence. Beautiful open concept hotel with resturants on site BUT zero security. Anyone off the street is walking around common areas because of stores and shops .over-all i would stay again for convenience .

It was a busy time of year after Christmas. On street parking was very competitive and required moving of cars. We could have used the parking area at $40 per night but were fortunate to find spots though it would not be for the faint of heart. We enjoyed the 1 bedroom suite very much but it requires climbing stairs. FYI

Great affordable place to stay in Coronado, but the parking situation not so good. If you do not have a car then this a place to stay at. Right across the street from the Hotel Del, and the beach! If you have a car, parking can be challenging. They have parking for the hotel, but it's not close. Street parking is free, but could be challenging to find, if you are going to be staying during the summer.

The hotel is beautiful and conveniently located. Unfortunately, it's also very noisy due to the outdoor Mexican restaurant in the center of the hotel, and if you were provided a room close to it, the noise travels up to your room. The street below the window is also very noisy. The most concerning problem was that there was no parking on the premises. We had to pay $40 extra to park in a garage about two blocks away!

The picture is not at all what it looks like. We were very disappointed. It’s old, no elevators and the stairs are so steep, it’s dangerous. You’re in the middle of a restaurant, absolutely not worth the $700 price tag for a weekend!

Very nice atmosphere and very close to multiple restaurants. Across the street from the Del Coronado hotel. Very small room (195 square feet) without any views. Pool and spa closes at 9pm and checkout is a hard 11am; no flexibility. Parking on the street unless you pay $40 to park at Bank of America a couple of blocks away from the hotel.

This hotel has a cute family feel. Our hotel room was not completely clean when we arrived. Beer cans, empty half and half cups, and bathroom tissue from previous guests was found in bedroom and small balcony. We ultimately chose El Cordova because it said it had a hot tub. The hot tub was not hot for our 3 day stay. We requested the heater be turned on/fixed. The staff was very responsive, but they never did get the hot tub hot. The pool was warm, but still pretty chilly swim without hot tub access. We loved the location of this hotel and the staff and responsiveness was excellent.

I really liked how close to the beach it was. Miguels is one of our fav restaurants and is on premises. Parking was $40/night for a garage or you could opt for street parking. For a historic inn it was in pretty good shape and we really enjoyed our stay in the 2 bedroom unit

This is a great location with a full kitchen. The front desk staff were amazing. However, there was no propane in the grills and it took 2 days for staff to address the issue. The carpet in our room was absolutely filthy and the room seemed rather worn. It looked like other rooms had wooden flooring so it may be just the room we had to unfortunately stay in for that week.

I wanted to love this hotel, but it leaves a lot to be desired. I will say that the staff was friendly and very accommodating, and the location on Coronado Island was perfect. Unfortunately, our room and the common areas need a lot of work. As others have mentioned, the decor is dated. The sofa bed in our room was covered in a plastic material instead of fabric, so was not comfortable for lounging. The tile in the bathroom and kitchen were dated, worn, and cracked in places. Tiles in the courtyard were broken off in places, making things look run down. The bedroom ceiling had large cracks in it, and some holes which had been cut and left open. Our biggest complaint is that the fiberglass tub had an 8 inch crack in the bottom which had been sloppily repaired and had broken open. Our feet kept sinking into the cracked area, I honestly can't believe they are renting the room to anyone with the tub in this condition. The entire experience brought the quality of our vacation down. I would not recommend staying at this hotel.

Broken shower faucet; fowl smell; very rundown and ill maintained property; do not recommend; it’s a shame the owners can’t maintain it properly

Our stay was terrible as the rooms were not clean, sheets looked dirty. There was no lift & the stairs to the rooms were dangerous. The Ac didn’t work but worst of all there were cockroaches in the room.

The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. The condition of the room could have been improved, especially for the cost of the stay. The room I stayed in was one that connected to the next room. The only thing that separated the rooms was a simple chain on the door. The deadbolt was not locked and I could hear everything the woman in the next room said and did as I'm sure she could hear me. There was a broken shelf in the bathroom and very little counter space for toiletries. Some of the towels also had hair on them from previous guests. They were clean, but someone else's hair was stuck to the towels. I would have expected some bottled water or something in the room given the cost of the hotel per night. It came with a fridge and microwave, both of which were clean. The bed was uncomfortable and the pillows were lumpy making it difficult to get to sleep.

Staff are extremely nice and accommodating, I did have an upgrade . The suite was huge, a little bit noisy but it had a musty smell and there were mosquitos … we did not spent a lot of time in our room . The bathtub was somehow loose and you can feel that there was standing water underneath. Location is top.

While the property is charming it is in need of renovation and service focus training. The room had a old smell and didn’t feel clean there was mold in the tiles. I was over the restaurant which I was worried would be loud. The person at the front desk told me just go out to dinner and the noise should be over when you get back. The real problem he said were the people cleaning the restaurant we’ve had to speak to them about being too loud in the middle of the night. So I could hear the neighbors clearly and sure enough at 1:30/2 am I was awakened by people yelling in the restaurant and I was tempted to yell down and ask them to keep their voices down! The pool and hot tub heaters were missing parts and freezing cold and I picked the hotel because it had a cute pool. The front desk said oh yeah that’s broken sorry. The beach had sewage signs up saying stay away from the toxic water. Coronado is lovely the location is lovely but I ubered to La Jolla to enjoy the beach. Would have appreciated being alerted to the pool and hot tub not working and they need to up their game on service. It’s very expensive and you pay it all for location I guess. It could be so fabulous if they renovate the rooms. I would’ve appreciated a discount for all the mishaps. I told the front desk about all the issues and not once did anyone follow up with me.

Old. Noisy old AC. Killed two cockroaches on the way to the room

Our room had an outside entrance, up a flight of stairs, with bar located at bottom of stairs which was very loud in the room. Bar did shut down after 10pm. Room smelled very strongly of must/mold. Tiny bathroom, sink hardly drained and came close to spill over while washing hands. Housekeeping vacuumed and cleaned the stairs outside the rooms at 7:30am for 20 minutes. I don’t recommend this hotel.

Cleanliness was an issue, there were cockroaches in the room. No lift and steep steps to take bags up to the room. Also Ac didn’t work

Street parking is difficult. Bathroom is very small. Stairs are very steep. Located across the street from the Hotel Del . Room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Some street noise.

Great location near Coronado Beach. Courtyard and rooms are charming but not well maintained (cracked/loose tiles, etc). We were in a 2 bedroom/3 bath suite on the second floor that was spacious. Stairs are steep. There was some noise from restaurant in courtyard, but it did not bother us.

All in all good stay but noise from the restaurant is an issue a guest needs to be prepared for and I mean not the noise from the guests. It’s the noise from the staff who even during nights clean and move goods which is quite loud. The location so close to the beach is fantastic!

An unusual complex of buildings with rooms leading off the central courtyard which houses various independent small businesses, the hotel pool and Miguel’s restaurant. The reception staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. Our room was a one bedroom suite with separate living room, kitchen and dinning area. Surprisingly roomy and contained everything if you need. It is a good location for the shops and restaurants and 3 min walk to the beach

The hotel was in a great area, across the street from the beach. The bathroom was very small.

Excellent location! Near shop’s & restaurants and on the bus line. Cute apartment with kitchen and living room! King bed was really nice. Older unit was charming, but had some quirks. Bath/shower was tricky to use. No handles on the kitchen cabinets made them hard to open. No paper towels, sustainable but not that convenient. Could hear the neighbors above pretty clearly. I would recommend and stay there again.

We have been staying at the El Cordova for decades - sometimes two and even three times per year. It has always felt like home. We knew the managers on a first name basis and could frequently get perks because of our loyalty. However, circumstances have changed over the last couple years. Managers seem to shift often and it is difficult to develop a connection. Our last visit was a disappointment. We reserved a deluxe suite and they "upgraded" us to a handicap room. The kitchen was barely a kitchen and the table that was crammed in there was not useful. They couldn't get us the coffee that was compatible with the maker in our room even though we were there 3 days. The WiFi was terrible - it kept dropping in and out. I tested the download speed to be 1 Mbps! We explained that we reserved a suite and they said the deluxe rooms are not suites in the traditional sense. They kept pointing to the word deluxe and we kept pointing to the word suite. There are many other options available for staying on Coronado Island - which we will be exploring in the future.

Room was small and bathroom wasn't flow friendly... the layout was akward.

I traveled with two teen boys so I booked the two bedroom. The place was huge! It actually was a two bedroom (each room had its own bathroom), walk in closets, huge living room and large kitchen/dining area. We couldn’t believe it! Felt more like an apartment. Walkable to shops, restaurants, and Coronado beach. The downside is it’s really noisy outside around the property. Also, the Wifi was spotty so if you bring a computer, you can’t use it on the desk in the living room. Last, bathrooms were the old Spanish style, so if you prefer modern then you won’t like them. It was absolutely perfect for our needs, family friendly, etc. But not a romantic or peaceful getaway.

I was under the impression that this was a high end hotel due to the cost and photos. I was disappointed in the appearance of the room. Bedroom was tiny with door hitting into bed. Bathroom also tiny. Room was located in front corner of hotel. Street and pedestrian noise. Pool was nice and clean but little to no room around the pool. Restaurants kitchen door opened only 4 ft from swimming pool. There being a restaurant in the middle of the hotel felt odd. Having people dine right next to the pool felt strange. Good location but not a very nice hotel.

We were very happy with the professional staff and accommodations for our quick getaway to Coronado Island. James especially was so helpful and kind. So many things are in walking distance, including the Del. We will be back!

Cool spot. I enjoyed them texting to see how we were doing however when I arrived the front desk was missing for about 20 minutes which kinda sucked but I get it they have work to do.

Staff was extremely responsive and helpful. The location is perfect—close to great restaurants and a block from the beach.we found parking on the street nearby. The property is historic and has a nice ambience. We will be back.

The suites overlooking the restaurant were incredibly loud! They move the metal restaurant furniture around every morning before 8:00am to clean the restaurant and the noise is awful. The hot tub wasn’t working, and I was there to surf, and would have appreciated soaking my sore muscles. The daytime front desk agent was less than helpful on multiple occasions, and his attitude was quite snarky. $40/night for parking was ridiculous, and the rooms are dated for the price. They were installing a new ADA lift while we were there and we spent several days listening to the contractors cutting metal. the nighttime desk agent was great!

We had another wonderful time the El Cordova Hotel. Chad mad our stay so special. All the staff we so welcoming and kind. We really appreciated the personal touch. This charming hotel is one that we visit again and again!

Danny was a great supervisor at check in and left front desk to carry my bag up the flight of stairs to my room. Map provided for parking garage off site and very helpful.

I booked and prepaid weeks in advance for a visit to see a recovering family member. I confirmed a late check-in on the day of arrival, but when I showed up after midnight, I was told my reservation was canceled as a “no-show” and was asked to pay again for the same room. The staff was unhelpful and refused to even look up my reservation. Despite repeated attempts, I’ve received no refund or response. I would not trust this business.

The property had a “charm” to it as others have stated. But, that also means it was old, and in disrepair. The bathroom is small (can’t close the door easily while in the bathroom, and there was a funky odor (maybe Febreeze used to cover up other smells). So, if romance is on your agenda, I would not recommend this hotel, unless this is your thing. Not bad pricing for the area, and its proximity to the beach. However, be aware that the parking on the adjacent street is 2 hours only, and the signs were not clearly lit at nighttime. The staff didn’t let us know, and the next day, we ended up with a $60 ticket. Also, we had to wait about 20 mins to check in because no one was at the front desk when we arrived.

We loved staying at the El Cordova Hotel. The general manager greeted us on our first day. Everyone was friendly. The two-bedroom suite was perfect! We had a wonderful time, and the location is perfect for spending time on Coronado Island, where we were minutes away from everything we wanted to do.

Beautiful property within walking distance to beach and restaurants.

Location, location, location! This is not the “fanciest” hotel but it has an old world Spanish charm that is hard to beat. It’s located across the street from Hotel Del, within walking distance to all the shops, restaurants, and beach. We will definitely be staying here in the future.

Very good location to utilize beach amenities in front of Hotel del Coronado. Only negative is parking. If poss - dont bring car to the area unless necessary. Can walk to pbeach, resaurants + shops

Hotel rooms need updating, but the location is perfect

We had a great room right off the patio. Nice and quiet. Great air conditioning! Small kitchen, but perfect for our needs. Bathroom was a bit small, but sufficient. Right across the street from the Beach and the Del Coronado Hotel!!

The hotel was in a great area, across the street from the beach. The bathroom was very small.

Met every need we had and more! Close to the beach and close to food and shops!

Location was convenient to dining and shops. Miguel’s and Brigantine Seafood were on the same campus and offered good drinks and food. Excellent service too.

James was amazing at checking and made sure we had everything we needed for a good stay. We loved the pool, the neighborhood and the restaurants steps away from the property.

Loved our stay at El Cordova Hotel! The on-site restaurant was super convenient, the whole place had a cozy, homey vibe, and we were just minutes from Coronado Beach. Excellent experience all around!

Great location across the street from Hotel Del and the Boathouse. VERY walkable to beach, dining and shopping. Room was nice, slightly dated but minimal. Staff is incredibke and daily breakfast buffet abd hot coffe included in resort fee was very nice. Good food, eggs, sausage, potatoes, bagels, etc...Good coffee, tea, juices also included. If are not familiar with the island you shoukd rent a golf cart and cruise around. Be sure to go to east end of Orange Ave and view the Downtown SD skyline from across the water...stunning night views...Enjoy Coronado...very beautiful place we have been going for years.

Nice little hotel with tons of character. Only a stone’s throw away from the Coronado Hotel at a fraction of the price. Only real issue is Miguel’s- it’s a great little restaurant right at the heart of the hotel complex, but as a result there is a lot of noise from 7am until about 10.30 at night. If you’re deaf this would be a perfect stay!

Great restaurants close by. Highly recommend The Henry for breakfast.

The hotel El Cordova was a jewel. I loved the quaint and historic feeling of this boutique hotel. The pool was beautiful and the suite we stayed in was roomy, clean and we were able to use the fridge to store some food. Miguel’s Cocina serves delicious food at a very reasonable price. I enjoyed my stay here with the beautiful scenes on the tiles around the property. I felt like I had escaped to Spain. The location was great, close to shopping and the beach. A very walkable area. I would definite back to this hotel and the lovely area of Coronado. 💕

Beautiful hotel, more like a boutique hotel with a Spanish theme, in the perfect location. The room was like a small apartment, full kitchen, beautiful living room with view over looking an inner courtyard. We will be going back!
