Econo Lodge Inn & Suites Escondido Downtown

We had a quiet stay in this hotel. Front desks are nice and accomodating. There was a complimentary coffee in the front desk. There were lots of parking space. The only thing that we did not like was its proximity to inter faith community service building which was right in front of the hotel, there were homeless hanging around by the parking entrance and some random person asking for change in front of the lobby. Bath towels were medium size and rough, it came with 2 bar soaps and a shampoo. I love that there were working microwave and fridge. Nothing crazy happened during our stay but it was just the thinking of something might happened during our stay or something might happen to our car that is just parked where these people can have access to. So, if you dont mind these people, it is a good place to stay and it is just 12 minutes drive to safari park and other nice restaurants. Pool was dirty.

Don't stay here - sketchy area with homeless around. Ice machine has been broken down for 6 months and they won't cover the cost for that if you go buy your own ice. Lots of loud construction noise going on at hotel. Also, the continental breakfast is no longer available here.

The room was very clean, and I love that they issued parking passes for the people staying here. I would definitely stay here again.

The property has a lot of construction going on, under renovation, so it\'s a little on the "not so great" side of looks. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. Especially, after my room key didn\'t work the first time!

The general location left much to be desired, as we saw numerous shady characters and the cops showed up twice. But the room itself was absolutely lovely and had everything we needed - microwave, fridge, big bed and hot shower. And they have a pool!!!

5am last morning of stay there was a very loud alarm and speaker I guess from a security company telling some people to leave the property. This continued for about 1.5 hours.

Room was dirty, hair in the bathroom tiny cheap towels Refrigerator does not work, knob missing Ice machine not working Homeless hanging out in parking lot Voice over speaker telling people to leave or police will be called several times in the middle of the night. Employee offered discount due to refrigerator… but was told on checkout that they could not do that. Office was closed for “lunch” at 6:30pm when I arrived and I had to wait outside for 30 minutes Of 4 different employees, I interacted with, none seemed to care about the customer. I am generally easy to please… but I was very disappointed and will never stay here again. Would not recommend.

The floors were extremely dirty to the point that we had to wear our shoes inside to avoid getting dirt in the beds when we went to sleep. Also, the bathroom was swarmed with ants coming in through the cracks. However, the staff was very friendly and helpful. They provided extra pillows and toiletries upon request, cleaned the bathroom with bleach, and provided Raid, which didn’t completely work on the ants but we appreciated their help.

We were excited at first driving in and seeing a dutch bros in the same parking lot. Boy were we wrong when we returned at night the parking lot was filled with homeless and addicts all eyes on us as we went to our room, never have I felt so unsafe in my life. We were running late for our event and checked into a room earlier that day. We entered our "non smoking room" that smelled of smoke I went to the front desk they had a plastic bag covering the smoke alarm he sent housekeeping to take it off and spray the room while we were gone, the a/c wasn't working we asked them to adress it while we were gone as well. We returned later on that night and it was still broken. It was hot so immediately called the front desk, the attendant at the front desk came to our room and started fidgeting with it but stil not working then a guy came and did the same it was late we just wanted to go to bed she said they didn't have another room but after about 20 minutes of them fidgeting with the air conditioner they moved us to another room and we showered and went to bed. The next morning I woke up with small bites on my arms and chest, I did a google search and it said bedbugs and where to find them well I found a large collection at the head of the bed next to the wall we immediately checked out and asked for a refund. We also had to wash and dry our clothes at a laudrymat near home and bag all our stuff before bringing it home. Pay the extra a s stay elsewhere keep your things and self safe

Woke up to a cockroach next to my bed. Started investigating the sheets. Found what look like wound up pubic hair in the sheets. Found other hair in the sheets that wasn’t mine. I have silver and black hair. Sheets were stained. Went down to talk to front desk and basically was told too bad. I asked for a refund and the front desk person said since I went through Expedia, they can’t do anything for me. Sorry. Rude rude people at the front desk. Will never stay there again ever.

The room was non-smoking, yet the bed spread had several cigarettes burns in it. The blanket was stained. The room was in serious need of refurbishing. For $265 a night, I expected more.

The motel was nice. You are by the main street fareway and hear a lot of traffic and sirens. It was a nice small setup. They show a continental breakfast in their photos, but it was burnt coffee and some granola bars from Costco.

The hotel is not the Econo Lodge you expect. They reinvest in property. Mattresses are in good shape. Lot was redone. Same team member has been there years. I normally stay at Hamptons, but not when Im there. This is a good place for us.

Showers of neighbours were very loud. Would wake you up at 5am.

Good ac and walls are not too thin. Couldn't hear rowdy neighbors or if they were rowdy I wasn't aware of it bcuz I didn't notice any extra noise from neighboring rooms. 🙂‍↕️

Neighboring room was having a domestic dispute that went well into the night. If you’re there for work it’s ok, clean enough.

The staff was great! The bed… not so great. I barely got any sleep tossing and turning all night. Exhausted at work today.

Stayed for 2 days while A/C didn’t work properly. Guy at front desk with blonde hair comes to check it out. Tells me it’s working fine while it’s 78 degrees in the room. Asked him to lower it he attempted too and could not but was too ignorant to accept he didn’t know what he was talking about. So for 2 days I was in a hotel room trying to sleep while indoor temp got up to 80 degrees and he would not switch me rooms. One of those people that only hear themselves talking and no one else. Steer clear from this hotel and just go somewhere else.

Booked as a family friendly hotel, but they were rude and told us we “better be careful” when my son non verbal autistic child was making noise upon arrival even after explaining the situation to the man at the desk. Would NOT recommend for small children or families as the noise is a problem apparently but the people’s dogs next door were all okay. 👍

This property asked for $100 deposit for the stay so we put the deposit on and when we checked out, they said it would be returned which not only hadn’t been returned after two weeks but an additional $399 was charged to our credit card. We were told to go and speak to the manager who we could find for a whole week after we had checked back in, and I was attempting to renew my room the last day on Expedia but the hotel had $499 of my money so I was getting ready to go to the front desk and all the sudden, while I was using the restroom, the manager (owner? Idk) came to the door and my boyfriend opened it and told him I’d come to the front when I was done using the bathroom and he refused to leave insisting I come out of the bathroom. I came out immediately because of the commotion and he said you need to get out it’s past 11am go now. I told him that they had charged my card and I can’t renew the room because all my money is tied up for a fee that was not permitted and he said no no no we didn’t you need to go and I told him okay, hold on let me check out and he finally left and we got our belongings together and left. Luckily, PalPal covered it and now they are dealing with them but I’m never staying there again. I have used that hotel since 2014 off and on and had some problems I let go but this was the final straw. They do this to so many people and I won’t give my business to them ever again. So disappointed 😔

The office was abandoned. Phones were ringing with nobody answering them. After waiting 10 minutes, I had to wander around the property to look for somebody to help me. Two workers said "Someone is coming soon." but nobody did. Then I found a cleaning person who tracked down an office person. This is about 20 minutes after I pulled in. And the guy shows up all friendly asking me how my day is going like I didn\'t just wait 20 minutes. WOOOF!!!!

Christian was very welcoming and helpful. Older hotel but well maintained and clean. No real dining options nearby. Good value.

My son and I went to concert at art center and are stay over was great. The desk clerk was great. Clean and efficient. Thank you.

Terrible experience. They charge a $100 cash advanced on your room. Will not take a credit Have no signs posted and was not on their website and hotel.com.website. This hotel is in the worst part of downtown and it was very unsafe. Several homeless people walking through the area and parking lot. At night I Saw 2 people behind my vehicle. Look like they were trying to break in. Please response time 4 hours.

It located in a sketchy area. We have seen people hanging out in the lot smoking and in the stairs ways. The lady in the front checking in people seems unfriendly and mad. We stay here for 1 night at the most just rest and be on our way. The beds and pillows seem new and comfortable. It has a mini fridge and microwave. Its ok for a late check in and leave early kinda of stay.

Our room reeked of cigarettes. The neighborhood was less than desirable. Didn’t feel very safe.

Noisy area, lots of homeless people and drug addicts hanging around the area. Some lady was walking around with a barking dog for hours.. there are better options in the area

Not safe. Had people loitering at all hours of the day and night. Came across as “lookouts” for inappropriate purposes.

There's a lot of homeless people outside. They hang out around the hotel and the outside looks trashy. The pictures online don't show this side of the hotel.

I just wished they had breakfast service we were on the go it makes it hard trying to get ready for a family event...i stayed here just because the kids wanted the pool. 😊 staff very friendly ..only too many street people around...but other than that nice stay.

You get what you paid for, to say the least. Upon my checking in and calling to confirm my arrival for May 8th. I inquired about morning breakfast; I told that ONLY coffee is available in the lobby. Then I was told to walk or call for food delivery.. I'm okay with one BUG in my room, not the six to ten I counted on my day of checkout. NO reimbursement was given to help with the matter because I had reserved the room through a third party.

The staff was helpful, the room was clean. The only thing that was lacking was that they don’t have a dining area or complimentary breakfast.
