I stayed with my two dogs while we attended the agility trial in Ferndale. The room was clean and spacious and the property in general was well kept. The outdoor dog area is fully fenced, mostly gravel, but it could have used a little more weed cutting as a few areas had higher vegetation. Outside of the designated dog area, there are just a few gravel spots in the parking lot where you can potty a dog. Just across the street is the Riverwalk trail, which was great for an evening stroll with the pups. We found this location quiet, and the Eel River Brewery and an Italian restaurant are both just a minute or two walk from the hotel. I will consider staying here again since it was very convenient for the weekend's activities in Ferndale.

They turned one side of the parking lot into a beautiful outdoor area that was very nice. They have really nicely done murals on the outside of the hotel. There wasnt an elevator. The beds werent very comfortable. The area was easy to get to. Breakfast in the morning was good.

Ok, time for an honest review. This property was by far the worst place I’ve ever stayed. To say the property is in poor repair would be an understatement. The linen was stained and smelled horrible, the shower head was moldy, there was dust everywhere and the pool was out of order. When I checked in, it was as if I’d been catfished. Definitely wasn’t a restful night. Not sure where the patrons who wrote this place is a hidden gem are used to staying but…for me this place was a total disappointment.

The cons and then the pros: There are redwood trees outside, but the picture in the ads is somewhat misleading. Some of the furniture in my room was showing its age; a bedside table lamp wouldn't turn off (at 11:00pm, so I didn't bother the management about it till I checked out, and they were very responsive then); upon my arrival, one of the towels was damp; and there was an unpleasant odor in the windowless, unventilated bathroom, which otherwise seemed clean. The safety bar in the bath/shower was in an awkward place, and the bedframe was a heavy metal design which presented a tripping hazard at several points, although it was good that the way the bed was made did not hide the frame, something that would have made it worse. Pros: I could park close to my room, I had a safe stay, and the complimentary breakfast offered variety (including sausage but no eggs). The room did its job and was somewhat spacious.

The first room we were given had paw prints stained on the sheets. I knew it was a dog friendly hotel and that was okay just didn't want the stained sheets. They did give us another room and it was paw print free. The mattresses were not comfortable at all. Overall the 2nd room was much better than the 1st and cleaner

The pool was closed for repair....the bed sagged and it was uneven. The shower had mold. It was filthy under the bed. The bath towels were slightly larger than the hand towels. The bathroom mirror was taped to hold it together. Clock did not work. Frankly, this hotel needs a major infusion of money and it is an insult to label this "A Boutique Hotel." The cost was way overpriced based on the lack of basic quality. As a result, I am surprised that Hotels.com even lists this place and my wife and I now question whether we will use this website to find future lodging.

First time visit great place to sleep. A/C comes out cold. Close by the mine highway. Between 25 to 35 minutes away from Eureka and Acarta. Bathroom super clean. Has all Shampoo, Conditioner and body wash. Next door a She’ll Gas station if you need to fill up. But overall comfortable.

The property has a nice dog area and outdoor seating with grills for an easy place to hang out. That being said, the cleanliness was sub par. We found bugs and spider webs in our room, the floor was not moped and made feet turn black from walking on it, and the shower was not fully wiped down (soap scum on shampoo, body wash, etc.). There was no ice available during our 5 day stay and staff was not helpful about it. Laundry machines were expensive, didn't work well, and staff had no change available to run them. Various outlets in the room did not work as well as one or two lights. Breakfast was also very minimal and mostly gone within the first hour and not really restocked, so we had to eat elsewhere. Overall 2/5. Would recommend looking at other properties nearby with more corporate oversight.

Pluses are that proximity to the convention center, River Walk, and 101; the room is large; and the bed is comfy. On the down side, the floor was sticky (due to cleaning product?) and the cleaning product smell was kind of strong. There was no extra blanket in the room. I might stay here again, but will check out other options in the area, too.

The shower in the room was terrible. It was a hand held sprayer and it was broken, it was spraying water everywhere and if it was in the mount it would only spray straight down. The bed was super hard and uncomfortable and the pillows were not good either. The noise from the utility are of the hotel was so loud in my room that I got no sleep at all. I will not be back to this place and I would not recommend this place to anyone.

The mattress in 210 was the worst. Sinkhole. trash containers in hallways and outside flowing over. Breakfast choices poor. The staff were helpful. Found hair on floor in bathroom. Did anybody even clean this room. False advertising...the ad showed the convention center. We stayed here because of the ad. Really. Do not recommend.

They say you get what you pay for. I feel I got more than I paid for with this stay at The Redwood Riverwalk. I needed a safe, clean room to stay in, so I wouldn't have to drive in the dark. The check-in clerk welcomed me with a kind, professional attitude. The room was huge and spotless. I appreciated the laminate flooring as opposed to carpet, especially since this is a pet-friendly motel. The motel provided all the amenities one would expect while maintaining a control over costs. This was definitely a no-frills stay, but I wasn't looking for frills. I was looking for cleanliness and safety and found both. In the morning, the check-out clerk was just as friendly and professional. I chose not to eat the breakfast because you get what you pay for. I recommend this motel for travelers looking for a simple, clean, safe place to rest. If you want frills, be willing to pay for them elsewhere. I will stay here again in the future.

When we checked into the room, there was a water bottle left on the nightstand and the bed & pillows looked as if someone laid on it. The privacy shade in the room did not work, tried to call the front desk about it and no one would answer, had to use a bed covering to cover the window. The bed and bedding was terribly uncomfortable. Breakfast and coffee is supposed to be included but the next morning people were lined up outside waiting because no staff showed up to open. People were going to the gas station next door to get coffee. When I check out the only employee was sitting outside. Horrible stay, glad it was for only one night. I recommend finding other accommodations.

The check in was good but then never saw an employee after he left. The phones in room do not operate (turned off, so no calling front desk, or for help if emergency) The next morning went down for breakfast and nobody there. Was told by another guest he was let in for breakfast in lobby at 6 am and hadn’t seen anyone since. No coffee refilled, no food refilled, no answer on phone, no answer when knocking on their private unit to see if all okay. Ended up calling police for a wellness check after noticing people having to leave room cards on counter because nobody even came to check them out. Police came and entered/ searched. Found nobody on premises.

This property is listed as non smoking and even has non smoking signs at entrances and rooms. Check in dude allowed smokers to smoke, sitting at main entry with door open. Smoke filled the lobby and when we started grabbing tissue and shutting the propped open door; he defended the action as:" well, we need to let them smoke somewhere". Seriously? This is CA with a smoking compliance. Then there is the noise. The hotel has several breezeways that lead to rooms. The garden side breezeway houses all/ most of the mechanical rooms. Every few minutes these turn on. They sound like the dryer units at the drive through car wash. Even ear plugs didn't help. The near shopping by this hotel is sketchy. The surrounding area does not feel safe. It's just a Fred Mayer and Denny's but never have we ever felt unsafe in any State or Country like this. The state is a weapon carry state; ok..no biggie. But when those carrying start yelling at each other...it's not ideal. There is no possinle way to reccomend this hotel.

First, the manager Alicia was amazing, they were immediately apologetic and understanding when we decided to not stay a second night due to the condition of our room. They made it very clear that the state of our room was unacceptable by their standards and that the housekeeping staff responsible would be talked to. That was the best part of our experience unfortunately, our rooms sheets were stained, had burn holes and there was clumps of hair on the shower wall. It clearly hadn’t been cleaned throughly.

I don’t like that they put “Third party bookings” on the upper floor. There is no elevator. I’m over 70 and there was no offer of help or changing of room. I will not stay again nor recommend.

Great location!! This was a perfect location for moving around Fortuna and Eureka. Very accessible to the freeway. Right next door to Eel River Brewing Company. Food there was excellent! Highly recommend staying at Redwood Riverwalk!

It was a bit outside of town but near several other hotels. It was clean but dated and minimal low end furnishings. If you’re looking for basic clean accommodations this is adequate. It’s near the river walking trail Breakfast was your generic hotel quick fare.

It is conveniently located near the 101 freeway. The room was clean and well maintained. The manager allowed me to park my motorcycle under the check in awning for shelter and camera surveillance. He suggested it, not me.

Hotel is ok, I stayed there based on other reviews but its not as good as I thought, specially because of the breakfast, its supposed to be from 7-9 but you have to get there early! Or else by 8 or so everything is gone and they won't put more food, which I don't think its right. If its until 9, they should have food until 9am.

The hotel is sufficient for staying to sleep when passing through. But it's really outdated and the "amenities" aren't going to draw you in. The breakfast they offer is VERY limited and will not fuel you for the day. Will not stay here again.

It's great they have included breakfast. It's not gormet, and is light at times, but it still helps get the day started. I stayed a week and never once was my room serviced by housekeeping. Did I have to ask? Beds comfy, climate control good, love the murals--always keep them.
