Avenue Inn Downtown District SLO

It was fine, just remember it has no elevator so you need to carry your luggage up the exterior stairs.

Very clean room. Beds were comfortable. Easy access parking. Right next to Higuera St with tons of restaurants and shops within walking distance. Very quiet. The only thing I would recommend is better cable for the TV. Other than that great stay.

Clean, spacious unit with oversized closet and fridge. Excellent location in DT SLO. Limited amenities, but this is counterbalanced by being able to walk to many restaurants, and just a few blocks from the Mission.

Older property, but clean. Rooms on the small side. No sofa or love seat. No breakfast of any kind. Not enough parking spaces for all the rooms! Would be a problem when full. Excellent location on the edge of old town San Luis Obispo. Good price.

Only one car per room can park onsite. The staff is hella friendly and the room was spotless when the Housekeeping team went by. Will forsure visit next time I'm on SLO!

Very nice place in SLO. The check in was easy and the owner of the hotel was very nice and helpful. Our 2 night stay was comfortable and the place is clean. The only potential issue is a lack of parking if returning late from a night out. I have stayed here before, will stay here again, and recommend it as a SLO lodging option.

Great location and parking.

Easy access from the 101 Freeway. Basic but nicely updated, clean and with everything you need. Microwave, refrigerator, ironing board, iron, hair dryer and charging outlets. I stay here whenever I visit San Luis Obispo. and I do recommend.

Close to downtown, simple - but has everything you need. Electric charging behind the place doesn't work. Otherwise, great spot!

We stopped here to enjoy the Thursday night market in downtown. On our way to Paso Robles this motel was a great find. The staff was super friendly amenities were just enough. Our accommodation was immaculate, clean highly recommend and will be staying here again. Thank you !

Some of my ratings are not good because there was a strong sewer smell coming either the toilet or shower. This caused the entire room to smell very bad. Since it was late and I was leaving very early in the morning, I did not complain. With that fixed, the room would’ve been fine

The motel is decent but the beds are rock hard. Price is right but my back suffered.

The property was clean and well kept. The showers are very small. Difficult to maneuver in the shower, especially if you're a 6'2" man.

The room had a horrible smell. Largely unidentifiable, but something between a cleaning agent and mold. The walls are thin, as is the ceiling, and we were awakened several times by guests above and beside us. Extremely tiny rooms.

Room, staff and location are great. My only recommendation is to sound-proof the walls. They’re very thin.

Stayed here while visiting Cal Poly. Staff was very friendly, easy check in and out. Room was clean and has all the essentials. Bed was really comfortable. Expect to hear people upstairs walking around if you're staying on the first floor. The place can improve in terms of utilities--the water pressure was weak and the side table light would flicker/dim when you use the blow dryer:). But overall I'd recommend.

Small room & very tight with 2 beds. Where to set down luggage a problem for 2 people, especially if you have “clamshell” type. Luckily we each had small 19” overnighters - utilizing the little table in the room. Front desk needed to be more welcoming. Otherwise, very clean with remodeled bathroom. Excellent bed! Ample parking & 15 min walk to downtown core (we are seniors). Good for overnight stay.

Room was tiny, but was not bad for a one night stay. We were on a ground floor and the people above us were heavy walkers. Sounded like they were moving furniture around 😬

Was the perfect option for a short stay. Seemingly newly renovated, and very quiet.

Tiny tiny shower with only a rain head shower head. No room to move. Pillows like bricks. Seemed pretty clean.

Perfect for an overnight stay to get to the airport early! Walls are a bit thin, but once other guests quieted down, I didn’t hear any noise from the airport or nearby road. I had to be at the airport at 430am and easily scheduled an uber the night before to make the 10 minute drive. Staff was extremely kind and accommodating upon arrival.

Everything about the hotel was fine—clean, comfortable, decent amenities—but the excessive nickel-and-diming ruined the experience. You’re charged for *everything*. Didn’t turn in your key? That’s a fee. Stay even 10 minutes past checkout? That’s a flat $50 charge, no grace period, no flexibility. It feels less like hospitality and more like a money grab. I expect to pay for services, but this place goes out of its way to squeeze every dollar it can out of you. Disappointing and unnecessary.

We liked the place as a whole. the whole deal was perfect and we enjoyed it very much, especially the guy at the reception desk and the sevice we got from him even though we only stayed for one night.

We went to SLO to visit the Mission and Hearst Castle. The Avenue Inn was located in a perfect spot and at an affordable price. We took the train there so we used public transportation alot, and luckily the buses stopped right in front of the Inn. The staff was friendly and attentive. They provided us with extra coffee when requested, and were very helpful in guiding us through the downtown region.

Great location to downtown-nice place, and clean. Office guy seemed in a big hurry to get me out of there. $5 to leave my bag in the office for a couple of hours. Although they accommodated everything I asked, they made me feel like I was asking a lot of them for simple things

It’s a perfect basic motel. Price is very reasonable, room is clean and has everything you need. Parking lot seems safe. Their rules are a bit and flexible if you want to check in early or leave late, but that is understandable. $25 for an early check in before 3 PM and $50 an hour for up to two hour late checkout.

I liked the staff. They were all personable. Will stay again.

Request room change, traveling solo. Receptionist could’ve cared less overall attitude was poor. But based on the manager’s attitude, it’s not surprising. No hospitality.

Unfriendly check-in agent. Check-in also took long. They had to call someone who came out to help. However, they were quick to charge a $25 fee for early check-in. We arrive at 2pm. One hour early. Inn was ok, but I would never stay there again.

The staff at Avenue Inn is great, check in was easy and they were very helpful with in formation on things to do and places to eat etc.

The rooms were clean and updated and quiet at night. The property is super convenient for walking around the downtown. It also has easy access to the freeway. It's walking distance to the Nautical Bean plus a couple other bakeries and coffeeshops for breakfast. Easy on and off the freeway. Would stay there again, no question!

Very conveniently located. Within walking distance of downtown. Only downside: nearby gas station was sometimes noisy.

I see why the reviews are so good. It's an excellent value. The place was clean, quiet, and felt safe. The room looked like it had been recently remodeled. There is ample free parking. Three coffee spots are within a 3-6 minute walk. Plus, it's an easy walk, approx. 8-10 minutes to downtown restaurants.

Very easily walkable to downtown but just far enough away to be quiet. Easy access off the freeway as well.

Great price for hour close it is to downtown SLO

The Avenue Inn is nicely located on the south end of the main road into town, easily walkable. The rooms were upgraded a couple years ago, but still hold a nice charm and cleanliness (especially the showers). Nice to have fridge and microwave in the room. Parking is relatively easy with no extra charge.

Close to CP SLO campus. Easy walk to downtown SLO.

We enjoyed our stay and we were able to walk downtown and leave our vehicle in the parking lot. Very convenient for us.

Loved the location- walking distance to Thursday farmer's market, and easy access to travel anywhere in the area. It was clean, quick check in and check out. Overall good value as well. Highly recommended

This is a very nice hotel for a couple of night when exploring SLO town and university. It’s clean and the beds are comfortable. Although there is no breakfast, the bakery/cafe next door is fantastic. So, no loss there.

The folks that operate this property are very nice and the service, when I needed any, was provided right away and pleasantly so. The only issue that I can identify was that the parking can be interesting. Although I had no problem parking, I would suggest it's better to be an early parker. You can walk into the popular downtown space within a few minutes. Handy for shopping it eating.

Rooms are basic but adequate. Coffee is avaliable in the lobby from 7am-10am. Walking distance to the downtown and Thursdays farmers market. I had a downstairs room. I could hear every footstep in the room above me. If you are a light sleeper, ask for an upstairs room.

It is a quaint little hotel with a great location to downtown. We didn't need to deal with parking downtown, since we were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go. Also, House of Bread is right across the street for a great cup of coffee and pastry in the morning.

Five minute walk to great food and nitro ice cream. Another 2 blocks to buy signiture Sour beers and hear live music at Libertine

My room was very clean, bed comfortable, location felt safe while being close to freeway. It is on a one way street in an area with quite a few one way streets so you have to be ready for that. Downtown SLO is quite congested. The fridge was nice size though freezer needed to be defrosted. Was no decaf coffee in either room nor in front office in the morning. They take the coffee and hot water away some time before 10 AM. I had a cup early but it wasn't there when I checked out at 10. The afternoon clerk, a younger man, was pleasant and helpful. The older couple when I checked out not so friendly. Some spaces in the parking lot need to be marked compact. A VERY long van parked just on the other side of me and blocked me from being able to back out of my space. Fortunately, someone had left their space on my drivers side and with many backs and angling, I was able to make a U turn and get out of my space. Long vehicles should not be allowed to park in the row of spaces in front of the first floor rooms. When I returned after an event, the offending van was still there so I parked farther away in the lot even though it was inconvenient and less secure. There was no guide for the TV and it was hard to find good channels. Did not like the remote. The room had one overhead light close to the door. It needs a second one because it leaves the closet and small table quite dark. The lights on the bedstands don't help. Had to use my laptop on the bed.

Nicely up-dated room with everything functioning in good order. Front desk helped us extend our stay and provided map with dining recommendations. We breakfasted at House of Bread just across street. Walked or bused from Marsh & Archer into downtown SLO, enjoying Mission, Art Museum, History Ctr, and abundant shopping, plus Thursday night Farmers' Market.
