This is an old fashioned motor court, not a modern fancy hotel. I like these nostalgic motels, but it might or might not be your cup of tea. The manager was sweet and helpful, eager to make sure everything was to my liking. The room was a bit dated, but neat as a pin and absolutely no unpleasant smells - not just nonsmoking, but no cleaning chemical smells either. The fridge/freezer was clean and cold, the microwave also clean. Plenty of pillows on a comfortable bed. There were windows front and back and a desk where I could work while in the room. The room would benefit from machine for tea and coffee. They only had coffee in the small front office. I bought a mug and some tea bags at the nearby Stop & Shop and microwaved water for tea which worked OK. Again a caveat; it did not bother me, but over the back fence was a trailer home neighborhood but they were well kept up with flowers in the yards.

The room was immaculate; bedding and carpet look new. I95 is easily accessible from the location. There was no microwave, fridge or coffee station in the room, they are in the office. It was a little expensive for what's offered but the cleanliness of the room made up for it.

Easy parking and access to highways. Manager would not honor cancellation for a third party booking. Insurance was not with Expedia but with AIG demanding proof of payment and personal information.. I will never book any trip or stay with Expedia again.

This motel was very recently painted and redecorated by the family who owns it. Immaculate cleanliness, friendliness, and reasonable rates for just outside New Haven. Easy to find off the highway and a decent diner nearby. We would definitely stay here again, preferred to the major chains.

We only stayed one night, quick trip up to see our daughter for family weekend at college. The room was fine for what we needed it for and price wise it was quite economical. It was definitely dated and there were some aspects that needed more attention than others. The dead insects on the windowsill were a little disturbing and the phone looked like it hadnt been cleaned ever. The tub had some serious staining to it. All of these items, again were minor but a little more attention should be paid when cleaning between guests.

If effort was put into updates and upkeep it could be a decent little motel. In the current condition we would not stay again.It served the purpose for a one night stay. The room was dingy and needed a coat or two of paint. The bathroom was in disrepair with missing tiles and a hole in the tub surround. Just not a fresh or cared for vibe. Dingy. The gentleman that checked us in was very nice and sheets were clean and bed comfortable.

It was ok. It’s not a modern cookie cutter hotel setup. The bathroom is not by the door, meaning that when you open the door you’re opening it straight into a full view of the whole room. One issue: no latch on the door, it had a deadbolt but those are part of the electronic lock and can be unlocked by the master key, rooms need a fully manual lock, this room didn’t have it.

Pleasantly surprised. American Inn is run by a family concerned about your comfort. The motel is well kept, both inside and outside. Although the motel is older, the owners keep the establishment very clean. The beds were very comfortable. There is a refrigerator and microwave in the room. The price is reasonable and i think youll be happy with your stay.

Booked this hotel as it was near the venue for my eldest son's wedding. Raj (at Reception) booked us into our rooms and was very helpful in answering any queries (a theme that he continued throughout our stay). The room was air conditioned (oh joy of joys!) and had a huge bed. Clean, comfortable and spacious. Although the location is next to a busy road, I'll be honest, I didn't hear anything during the night. Near the hotel are facilities - shop, Dunkin Donuts (50 yards down the road) and a Diner. 15 min Uber ride into Branford. Thanks Raj I will definitely return to the American Inn. 👏👏👏

I’m still shaking. The manager yelled at me after I simply asked that his staff properly transfer my call. Last night, my friend Leonard tried twice and he said the calls were dropped. The manager called me “rude” and brought up my rightful complaint about noise last night. He was rude, telling me to “calm down!” I like the clerk and was even planning to buy another week! I’m a widely published journalist and it’s unwise to yell at women like me. I’m now even more upset that after a lovely call with a woman at Expedia, the escalation guy didn’t seem to have a clue. I’ve requested a partial refund.

I stayed at the American Inn twice this month. The room was clean and comfortable, travelling alone i felt safe. it is right down the street from the Sky Diner...good for breakfast (second time in did dinner there...good, reasonable, daily specials). There is also a supermarket in the same plaza. There was a mini fridge in the room- good for keeping drinks cold.

The main reason for choosing this area, It was safe, The property is well kept up, It’s close to I-95. This visit was the third time in two years, Each time we pass through this area. We will plan our trip, So at the end of the day driving, This location will be our destination. Up to this point we have had a Good experience stopping at this location

This is an old fashioned motor court, not a modern fancy hotel. I like these nostalgic motels, but it might or might not be your cup of tea. The manager was sweet and helpful, eager to make sure everything was to my liking. The room was a bit dated, but neat as a pin and absolutely no unpleasant smells - not just nonsmoking, but no cleaning chemical smells either. The fridge/freezer was clean and cold, the microwave also clean. Plenty of pillows on a comfortable bed. There were windows front and back and a desk where I could work while in the room. The room would benefit from machine for tea and coffee. They only had coffee in the small front office. I bought a mug and some tea bags at the nearby Stop & Shop and microwaved water for tea which worked OK. Again a caveat; it did not bother me, but over the back fence was a trailer home neighborhood but they were well kept up with flowers in the yards.

I stayed at the American Inn twice this month. The room was clean and comfortable, travelling alone i felt safe. it is right down the street from the Sky Diner...good for breakfast (second time in did dinner there...good, reasonable, daily specials). There is also a supermarket in the same plaza. There was a mini fridge in the room- good for keeping drinks cold.

Booked this hotel as it was near the venue for my eldest son's wedding. Raj (at Reception) booked us into our rooms and was very helpful in answering any queries (a theme that he continued throughout our stay). The room was air conditioned (oh joy of joys!) and had a huge bed. Clean, comfortable and spacious. Although the location is next to a busy road, I'll be honest, I didn't hear anything during the night. Beds were good, room was clean, AC, refrigerator and microwave worked. The close proximity to a grocery store reduced high eating out costs. The bathroom sink was a little slow draining, but that is minor. Overall, its a place I will stay at again.

The room was immaculate; bedding and carpet look new. I95 is easily accessible from the location. There was no microwave, fridge or coffee station in the room, they are in the office. It was a little expensive for what's offered but the cleanliness of the room made up for it.

Friendly staff, clean room, with all the basics you need. It was the perfect place to stop on our journey home to sleep before continuing our travels the next day. We will keep this place in mind on our next trip. Also, the hotel is well placed right near 2 gas stations, grocery store, diner and Dunkin’ Donuts.
