Days Inn by Wyndham Washington DC/Connecticut Avenue

Tight parking space has always been an issue with this hotel. The parking garage in the back of the hotel has two foors with a car rental company using part of the space. The ground parking has a low ceiling with lally columns in the way. In our last visit they had the parking garage closed. If they are going to use the land, they should seriously consider having one built. It might be somewhat costly initially but will pay dividends in the long run.

They charge for parking and there is limited parking space

You pay $25 for parking just to be closed in cause the hotel doesn’t have enough parking to accommodate all the people that pay for a parking pass. You end up parking behind someone and blocking them in cause they don’t care. It would be different if parking was free but it’s crazy that they’re doing this and making you pay. Like why are you selling more parking passes than your have parking??? Make it make sense. Plus the rooms and stuff are pretty run down and small for the price you pay.

1 elevator broken down, ice machine broken down had to go 4 floors down for ice. Worst Wyndam stay we have ever had. Days Inn before was nice a few years ago. What happened? People working there except maids were not happy by their attitude. Very disappointing. Last time at Days Inn. We will have to really look at Wyndam properties now

Very convenient for accessing DC's sites using public transport. Although parking cost $25, we were allowed to check out of our room & able to easily access local bus/metro to travel to Smithsonian National Zoological Park about 1.3 mile away. There is also the option for 2 late check-out times from the room (for a fee). No breakfast offered nor room refrigerator, microwave, or coffee maker-- but coffee/tea was available in the lobby. Restaurants nearby.

Did not know of a $25/night parking fee until I was checking in. The elevator was very slow and sounded like it was about to fall apart. There was long hair around the safety handle in the shower and hair on the ceiling. This is the second Days Inn I have had issues with, and it will be the last Days Inn or Wyndham I will stay at.

Minimal hotel. Wi-fi did work. No microwave, no fridge, no restaurant or vending machines. Room was not cleaned over the weekend.

What I didn't like was having to pay 25 dollars a night to park.

On a visit with family to Washington DC, I limited my search on Expedia/Hotels.com to hotels that provided parking and breakfast. I assumed that meant free parking and free breakfast. I also assumed any motel charging $140 a night would have WI-FI, a microwave and a mini fridge. This motel had parking only at an additional charge of $25 a night. The only “breakfast” was at a nearby unaffiliated restaurant at the full menu price. There was no WI-FI, no fridge, and no microwave, either in the room or the lobby. I picked this hotel because I thought the cost was less than the downtown DC hotels. The website said it was a 9 minute drive from the Capital. That didn’t seem too bad if it had the basic amenities that we have come to expect. But I ended up spending $165 plus tax for a Motel that offered less than any motel I have been for the last 10 years or more, and as much as a superior hotel near all the sites in DC. And guess what - the estimated driving time on my car’s GPS showed not 9 minutes but 20 minutes to the Capital and other nearby sites. I have NEVER before been so misled when reserving lodging on this website.

Wifi has been out for months and the Front desk staff did not disclose during check in. Rooms had a faint smell of cigarettes and bed are horrible. Pers are parking is reasonable, close to the metro and cheap.

The room was spotless and the staff was nice. Hotel located near metro.

The room overall was okay, the tube was filthy so was the toilet seat. The water in the tub wouldn’t go down.

This review would have had three overall stars because the linens and towels were white and clean and there were some updates to the bathroom and wood details around the TV and bed. Notwithstanding, the roach alone was enough to deduct one star. So, from the beginning, the name of the hotel is no where to be found on the front on the front of the hotel: no awning (despite the photos), no name on the doors. If you miss the name on the side of the building, or come from a different direction, too bad. They send you a text message and ask you to do a precheck in—complete and total waste of time. They tell you upload your ID, enter all these details including CC number for nothing apparent because you have to do it all again at check in. I walk into the room and the “closet” is a hang up space in the foyer. Wouldn’t be too bad if the hanger thingies weren’t so cheap and flimsy and so easy to fall apart. The room is dated except for the tile updates in the bathroom and the wooden decorations around the TV and the bed. There were coffee stains (or some other brown liquid) on the wall. The walls in general need spackle and paint. They are old and have general ise stains throughout. I settled in and got comfortable. The morning of my departure, between 5:30 AM and 6:00 AM is when it all fell apart. There was a juvenile german cockroach crawling on the toilet. This is when I lost all sense of comfort and was overcome with an urgent need to leave just as soon as possible

This property old outdated/ not to clean.. parking is very small 10 spaces if that, ppl hang where you have to park. Carpet old and smells bad in hallways and rooms. Close this place

This hotel is beyond dingy. Our rooms were clean but the common areas were not. The carpet was filthy and the paint job was horrible. There was not a single amenity. I would never stay here again.

Saw a rat on the way in. Hotel was dingie and old. Carpets were dark and dinggie. Towels were tiny and when we asked for new towels, they ignored our request. At least bed may have been clean, but who knows. Good location, near subway, but definitely not worth the price.

There were bed bugs

Cleanliness and hygiene practice is a big issue. Saw a rodent in my room. Had to relocate to another room. Washroom exhaust fan doesn’t work. Terrible smell as soon as you step inside the room. I stayed 3 nights and the room was not cleaned for a single day. Dirty carpet, hair visible on floor carpet. Doors chipped and the ac super noisy. Only one thing was good is price. I would not recommend this hotel.

Building interior seems a little run down. The rooms are generally clean but there were brown (coffee?) Stains on the curtains and there was mold/mildew on the shower wall. Very overpriced for the state of the room. Im sure if i carefully inspected the entire room it would have had more issues. But honestly, ignorance is bliss and i was just staying the one night.

We stay here because it is conveniently located. But, they are performing no maintenance. Dresser drawers wont stay closed, plaster chopping, stained carpets and bathroom mirror hanging on by a thread.

My room was on a high floor as I had requested and I had foam pillows, so I was very happy. The room was spacious enough to not feel crowded. The bathtub was old and crusty but was clean with good water pressure The air unit had its blower combs busted out, but worked with heat, cold and fan. Housekeeping cleaned each day. There were vending machines for food/drinks/snacks but I did not use them. There was coffee in the lobby. There's an amazing bakery up the street, and an Italian and Thai restaurant across the street that were great. A grocery store and the Metro subway was two blocks away. There were non-guests hanging in the lobby and outside which was not great but they did not bother me or other guests. The front desk staff either ignored me or took a lot of time to help whoever was in front of me with their reservations. I got frustrated on the two times I tried to get help and just left after waiting more than five minutes. I just needed change to leave the housekeeper a tip If I am in the part of town again, I would book at the hotel again. I just needed a clean room, working shower and access to food and transportation. I had what I needed and with my room requests fulfilled, I had a good stay.

The place is no frills with little around it. But the room is clean and the bed is comfortable. If you're looking for luxury and beautiful surroundings- this isn't it. If you need a place to sleep for the night, it's fine.

The hotel was perfect for a quick stay. The room was clean, staff were friendly. The only problem I had was the AC unit wasn’t great. It wasn’t pumping out much cold air it felt more like a fan and the bathroom fan didn’t work so it would get warm in the bathroom when showering. Could use some maintenance. Outside of that perfect for one night stay. Close to a metro stop and the zoo. I would stay there again

Over 200 dollars one night and you have to pay the parking fee，no breakfast and drink at the front desk，the room is just so so，but very noisy from the outside in the morning．never stay．

Great area, super close to Van Ness train station, easiest and fastest way to get around town! Hotel is decent, but needs a lot of updates/renovations. personally I think a mini-fridge needs to be added to the room I brought some yogurts and other snacks that needed to be refrigerated and ended it getting spoiled. Bed and pillows were very comfortable and room size was decent

Great value for the money in a safe neighborhood close to the Metro making it easy to access the important tourist spots. Could have had a refrigerator and a microwave.

PROS: -beds and pillows were comfortable and clean. -Water pressure in the shower was consistently good. -good amount of electrical outlets and lighting throughout the room. -Mirror at the desk was a nice plus -TV, iron, and hair dryer all worked well. -Curtains were of high quality and did an impressive job of blocking out light and street noise. -Housekeeping was lovely and prompt in replacing linens and emptying trash. -Front desk staff were helpful and kind. -Location is a 5min walk from the red line, accessible by bus as well, and walking distance from dining options and a gym. Couldn't have asked for a better location at this price. Cons: -hotel is clearly rolling in newer renovated features, but the hallways remain stuck in 1990. All of the carpet in this building has seen better days. -Noiseproofing could be better between floors, the main issue being the ability to hear everyone in the building's phone alarms. -I wished there had been a water fountain and bottle refill station on site. As well, only the ice machine on the second floor was in service. -My main gripe and possible deal breaker in the future was the lack of fridge or microwave in the room, which ultimately led to me having to spend more on food during my trip than I anticipated. This hotel was certainly passable, clean and safe, and the location is wonderful. That being said, it's sad to see that this location lags behind its potential, especially with such great staff.

Location is good, with dining options around and easy access to transportation. The room was noisy, though, and the windows didn't shut properly.

It was about what to expect from a Days Inn. There were some issues. WiFi was not working, and on site parking was unavailable (filled up) The smell of cigarette smoke even on the no smoking floors and my non-smoking room was unpleasant.

Staff were so very nice. We had some issues checking me in and a problem with the TV--the extra care that staff took was really above and beyond--so very kind, friendly, and sweet, both front desk, management, and maintenance. This is a great hotel, just two blocks from a metro. Only improvement I'd suggest is coffee maker in the room.

At the time when we arrived, they had no information aboutreservation and had to spend a lot more than hour and a half to find their reservation. Very poor service.

Room was clean and well kept. The beds are firm but we like firm. Excellent place to stay for a weekend excursions. 2 blocks to the metro. Great quaint restaurants just steps away. Metro 2 short blocks with a Starbucks right at the entrance. Excellent bakery 2 doors down and everything is fresh. May i make sugestion and make sure you have at least one meal at the Viatmese restaurant, authentic excellent food, service is great, open bar and very reasonably priced. We even ordered for our trip home. Golds Gym 1/2 block away, CVS 1 block away with an ATM, barber accross the street. Pizza place right next door, great food with open bar. Bus stop right in front of hotel. Only took us 20 minutes on the metro to the Smithsonian center. You walk off the metro into the cener and you can rent manual bikes, electric scooters, etc. I would also like to compliment Peggy the eveng clerk. She was extremly helpful and knew everything about the area. The area is safe and in a beatiful residential neighborhood. They have early check in and check out. You do have to pay for parking but the area is safe and secure. The hotel does not have many perks but that is fine for short stays. It very convenient for transportation. If you want travel Uber or Lyft, they arrive quick. If your looking for quick travel into the center of DC this is a great location. Please nite you should mail away for your metro cards so you can easiky load your cards with google. You should also download the Veo for scoot

Had a nice four day stay split among two rooms. The second room was more updated and better amenities than the first, but perhaps they are in the process of updating all of their rooms – I don’t know. Staff was very helpful and attentive to any needs or questions I had

Nora in the front desk was wonderful

The staff were great. We were able to keep our bags secured behind the front desk since early check in wasn't available. One of the elevators was out of service and the other one got stuck on the day we checked out. The TV in the room wasn't the best and had some picture issues, but the channel line up was good. Check in and check out were great. The room and hotel were clean. In a great location. I would stay again.

For the price I paid this hotel was HORRIBLE! The entire experience was horrible parking check in EVERYTHING. There were transients hanging in the lobby. I felt very unsafe. The old lady at the front desk was not friendly. I would highly recommend sleeping in your car before staying here 😒

Not enough staff at check in- was extremely slow. We have been staying at this Days Inn for a number of years and the property in general and rooms are deteriorating.

Older hotel, looks a bit dated, but my room was clean and comfortable. Very safe and convenient area, easy walk from the Van Ness metro station and there are a grocery store, CVS, and multiple restaurants all close by. Room was a little stuffy because the wall AC unit struggled to move air beyond the bed area. I was a little surprised that there was no housekeeping service during my 2 night stay.

Great hotel on Connecticut ave near Smithsonian zoo

The building itself was old but the room was kept clean and nice. Near to the Metro station, super market, Starbucks, and many restaurants was a big plus. A little refrigerator in the room would've been nice but can't complain due to the moderate rate of the room.

Good Value Basic Good Accommodation in great neighborhood on subway line, with great restaurants and bakeries close by, Very close to several colleges.

The Days Inn on Connecticut Ave is a little dated but the rooms were comfortable. Everything you could need was within walking distance. A great Italian restaurant is attached to the hotel as well as other unique rars within one to two blocks. A Walgreens was also close and if you are looking to explore the city, the WMTA was a five minute walk away.

This is a hotel that is no frills and provides your basic needs. We stay here because it is close to where family lives and they offer decent prices. Staff has always been nice and helpful and we have been able to leave our luggage after check out with no issues. There are a few restaurants across the street ranging from pizza and Thai to a bit more upscale. There's also a great bakery on the same side of the street. It's also close to a Metro stop.

Old building but relatively clean room....bathroom and bed were very clean...good coffee available...great bakery next door and convenient for walking and van ness metro

Clean, safe hotel right near an excellent bakery and several solid restaurants.

I liked that the property was close to the metro and bus routes. There is a CVS and. A grocery store a short walk. A few restaurants to choose from, but none in the hotel as advertised. The staff was friendly and helpful. Stayed over a week and only requested one cleaning. They didn’t do it the day requested but did the next day.
