The place is very charming, tempted to stay another day. Unfortunately, the hotel was closed when we arrived, luckily another guest arrived (the only person staying there that day) and informed us that we need to call the hotel's number. A person came and opened the door and checked us in, and gave us codes to be able to enter the hotel and our room. The bar and restaurant were not open that day and the next. Consequently we left the next day.

We were passing through on a motorcycle trip. The hotel was just as described. Nothing too fancy and no interaction with anyone while checking in or out. There was a cool looking bar area but it was closed for a private party. Not many dinner choices around the area however we took a beautiful stroll along the water to the marina where we had a drink and dinner.

Staff members are wonderful! Kat took us around and told us interesting stories and history about the hotel. Clean rooms. Hot shower!! Relaxing atmosphere. Non drinker found fun at the at attanched pub playing games. Highly recommended if you’re looking to get out of the city!

Booked a river view room (204), rec'd confirmation for room 204, but as we were driving to the hotel, rec'd a text that we would be in room 201, which had a broken blind and a view of the parking lot. The Inn is like a ghost town, no bar, the restaurant adjacent is no longer open, no breakfast continental or otherwise as advertised. No staff or management on the premises. Was told they are more Airbnb in format. The positives of our stay is that Ft. Madison itself is charming, and there is an excellent restaurant down the street, Turnwater Bar & Grill. We got a decent nights sleep, but I cannot recommend the Kingsley Inn, nor will I stay there again.

There used to be a great restaurant on site but it's closed and local options are mostly fast foods. The breakfast is microwave your own and all meat based. Staff doesn’t clean/refresh room the entire stay, which some people might prefer. Temperature was hard to regulate. But hearing the trains was fun. Simple Table is a nice 5 table restaurant nearby.

This is one beautiful property. Greeted by the friendly staff, was showed to our large clean room and given a token for a free drink in the lounge. Bed was comfortable. TV was great with quality picture and lots of channel choices. We had a nice view of the river and the fort, Breakfast was continental with quality options. Lounge had lots of cool decor and had museum quality items. If you like trains you will love it. Don't worry, even though it is right next to the tracks you barely hear them. Can't wait to go back again!

Very nice old hotel with great staff and fantastic weather. The hotel had a great bar and staff. Nice view of the river and trains. Walkable to the train station,New Marina, Swed Coffee shop & others. When I say trains I mean trains. A train lovers dream for the activity. The swing bridge over the Mississippi is very cool.

We were on a trip back from Branson MO and wanted to stop at this hotel because of the busy train line in front of the hotel. I can spen hours watching trains and this room did not dissapoint. We stayed in room 203 because being 6'7" tall I need a king size bed and I was glad to see they offered one on the river view side of the hotel. Such a wonderful place for the train enthusiasts. There is a kitchen right down the hall if you like to bring your own meals. The staff was great and I am sure lonely since being an off season, there were only a couple of rooms occupied. Trains went by 24/7 but don't worry the room has a sound machine and they will provide ear plugs if needed. It's a must stop for anyone that loves to watch trains.

I don't leave negative reviews. I leave fair criticism. The faucet leak in the bedroom was at a constant flow. I couldn't shut the valve off to stop that. I felt a couple of cobwebs near the bed and killed another on the desktop near the window. The bar meant for hanging shirts (I think that's what it was) had no hangers. The bed was comfortable and the room temperature was excellent. The rest of the whole hotel looked very clean and fancy. I walked the hallways at different times of the day/night and did not see another single person or staff member. The views were stunning. The price point is very good so none of the issues I ran into would keep me from staying again overnight.

On arrival we were greeted and shown our room. Everything was excellent. We were then informed that no staff would be on site after 10pm. They also no longer offer breakfast service but a small cafe was available around the corner. For our two day stay were did not encounter any staff or other guests. Until late on our second night when the hotel manager entered our room unexpectedly. Luckily we were not doing anything that would be embarrassing. After meeting the manager again in the hallway she apologized while laughing about the incident. We did not find it amusing. We decided to chain our door when we returned for the night after dinner. There overall look of the hotel is nice and cozy. The flooring looks new and bathrooms are remodeled. The light fixtures in the bathroom were fairly dusty. The antique furniture was appealing but the armoire was annoying. It would not lock and the doors squeaked every time you walked around the room. The view of the river and train tracks was nice. However, you cannot open the windows since they are covered by glass. If not for intrusion our stay would have been fairly quiet and we would’ve thought the place was all ours.

Room was freezing even at 75 degrees, until the sun comes up, shining brightly into the curtainless windows. There are blinds, but they block none of the light. It’s not like I could sleep anyway with the sounds of the nearby train going all night. The couch in the room was disgustingly stained, and the TV only had one volume - LOUD. Never again.

We loved our stay at the Kingsley Inn! It's a very unique property, located in a historic building with old touches, eclectic elements and modern conveniences. Our room had views of the river, was exceptionally clean, large and well stocked.

I guess I should have expected it beings the building was so old, but the a/c was basically broken. I spent the evening in an 82 degree room. Very uncomfortable. I also paid for room 303 but was placed in room 302. It’s not their fault the area is a wasteland for dining- I wish the river rocks bar had been open. Probably would have changed the experience. I love the idea behind this place- but I would either not book the third level rooms in the summer, warn guests the a/c is malfunctioning or upgrade the system asap. I kinda wonder if the room I was supposed to get had working a/c…

We had a great two night stay at the Kingsley Inn. The staff was helpful, the room was a good size and very comfortable. The breakfast was serve yourself continental style, but it had enough option. We had four people staying in our room and it was very helpful to have restrooms down the hall if ours was being used. I also really appreciated that I could store some food in the kitchen refrigerator as we were mid-road trip. The building is so quaint and all of the period touches are lovely. I would stay here again if ever in the area. If you are a light sleeper, this may not be the hotel for you. Our room faced the back parking lot and a nearby building had a really loud industrial fan that ran constantly. It just made for white noise for me and was not a problem. Also, the train runs often and it was also loud - it never interrupted my sleep and I found it added to the charm, but ear plugs are provided just in case. We walked a couple of blocks along the River and ate dinner at a Chinese restaurant we discovered on the information board. It was good and a nice part of our stay.

Great experience. The hotel manager called me after booking to get me into a better/cooler room during a heat wave. The hotel overlooks the Mississippi River and adjacent railroad tracks. The windows appear to have extra soundproofing so that very little train noise comes through.

The inn was very pretty and the room was beautiful. The only complaint would be that the bed was noisy and uncomfortable. It seemed smaller than a queen. Also, we needed more pillows than two for two people.

Room was freezing even at 75 degrees, until the sun comes up, shining brightly into the curtainless windows. There are blinds, but they block none of the light. It’s not like I could sleep anyway with the sounds of the nearby train going all night. The couch in the room was disgustingly stained, and the TV only had one volume - LOUD. Never again.

We were on a trip back from Branson MO and wanted to stop at this hotel because of the busy train line in front of the hotel. I can spen hours watching trains and this room did not dissapoint. We stayed in room 203 because being 6'7" tall I need a king size bed and I was glad to see they offered one on the river view side of the hotel. Such a wonderful place for the train enthusiasts. There is a kitchen right down the hall if you like to bring your own meals. The staff was great and I am sure lonely since being an off season, there were only a couple of rooms occupied. Trains went by 24/7 but don't worry the room has a sound machine and they will provide ear plugs if needed. It's a must stop for anyone that loves to watch trains.

The rooms are very quaint. Clean. On two of our days there was no staff available in the afternoon or evening. When we were ready to check out, there was no one to help us. The hotel was amazing!! The staff was very friendly and accommodating. We stayed two nights and every morning we had breakfast which I thought personally was the best breakfast compared to hotels I’ve been to. The staff always greeted us in the morning with a good morning and when we were leaving they told us to have a safe trip home. I definitely will be going back.

We were passing through on a motorcycle trip. The hotel was just as described. Nothing too fancy and no interaction with anyone while checking in or out. There was a cool looking bar area but it was closed for a private party. Not many dinner choices around the area however we took a beautiful stroll along the water to the marina where we had a drink and dinner.

We had a great stay! Jason at the front desk was awesome! This is a VERY old building with a lot of history. If only the walls could talk! We were told that we could explore any room with an open door. Each room had a book with notes from previous guests. It was interesting to read the different rooms books. We had a great time.

Booked a river view room (204), rec'd confirmation for room 204, but as we were driving to the hotel, rec'd a text that we would be in room 201, which had a broken blind and a view of the parking lot. The Inn is like a ghost town, no bar, the restaurant adjacent is no longer open, no breakfast continental or otherwise as advertised. No staff or management on the premises. Was told they are more Airbnb in format. The positives of our stay is that Ft. Madison itself is charming, and there is an excellent restaurant down the street, Turnwater Bar & Grill. We got a decent nights sleep, but I cannot recommend the Kingsley Inn, nor will I stay there again.

On arrival we were greeted and shown our room. Everything was excellent. We were then informed that no staff would be on site after 10pm. They also no longer offer breakfast service but a small cafe was available around the corner. For our two day stay were did not encounter any staff or other guests. Until late on our second night when the hotel manager entered our room unexpectedly. Luckily we were not doing anything that would be embarrassing. After meeting the manager again in the hallway she apologized while laughing about the incident. We did not find it amusing. We decided to chain our door when we returned for the night after dinner. There overall look of the hotel is nice and cozy. The flooring looks new and bathrooms are remodeled. The light fixtures in the bathroom were fairly dusty. The antique furniture was appealing but the armoire was annoying. It would not lock and the doors squeaked every time you walked around the room. The view of the river and train tracks was nice. However, you cannot open the windows since they are covered by glass. If not for intrusion our stay would have been fairly quiet and we would’ve thought the place was all ours.

The text indicated that there would only be a skeleton crew. But never saw anyone during our stay. That is good if you are low maintenence. A phone number was provided if you needed help. Everything was just steps away. Perfect location. Enjoyed playing the piano. Please dust it...and the vase on the piano. Enjoyed our stay.

Very nice old hotel with great staff and fantastic weather. The hotel had a great bar and staff. Nice view of the river and trains. Walkable to the train station,New Marina, Swed Coffee shop & others. When I say trains I mean trains. A train lovers dream for the activity. The swing bridge over the Mississippi is very cool.

We enjoyed our weekend at the Kingsley. Our bed was comfortable and the room was nice. Everything was clean. Staff was very nice. Breakfast was disappointing. Continental. Yogurt, muffins, cereal - frozen sandwiches for microwave. There are so many new options for hot self service breakfast. Waffles or pancakes would have been great. No fresh fruit:( Just expected a bit more from such a nice place. It was perfectly fine though, no special effort. The train across the street would blow the horn 4 times for the crossing 3-4 times a night we actually didn’t even wake up after the first night but earplugs were provided. Check in/out was easy, very private, and quiet.

We were so happy with our stay at The Kingsley. The staff was welcoming,and knowledgeable. Continental breakfast was really well done, and above our expectations. Definitely recommend this charming hotel!

This quirky Victorian style property is a great place to stay. As a solo traveller I felt safe & staff were attentive. The continental breakfast was good with a wide selection of self service items on offer. You do need to be aware that the trains ‘toot’ as they go past and some are quite long but the hotel does supply ear plugs & using them I wasn’t bothered by the noise. All in all more of an old fashioned, individual stay rather than a corporate experience. I loved it!

There used to be a great restaurant on site but it's closed and local options are mostly fast foods. The breakfast is microwave your own and all meat based. Staff doesn’t clean/refresh room the entire stay, which some people might prefer. Temperature was hard to regulate. But hearing the trains was fun. Simple Table is a nice 5 table restaurant nearby.

The code check-in went smoothly. We were told that the hotel was booking up fast, and my sister said she was told she had the last room. We had three rooms and felt there was no one there. We were disappointed that the morning room did not serve breakfast and it was Easter Sunday. We were hoping to sit and at least have a cup of coffee with our family members that had stayed with us.
