Hampton Inn West Des Moines Lake Drive

The pool was ice cold. Hot tub jets were broke. Our room smelled really bad & the thermostat didnt work. Beds were not comfortable. Staff was great. Breakfast was good.

The elevators were not working, both side and rear doors had broken handles for Sports teams staying there this weekend. there was one poor lady there trying handel it all. She accommodated us by putting us on the first floor and was very professional while checking us in.

Nice pool and hot tub. Stayed during the week so not a lot of traffic in and out of the hotel. Quiet and clean.

The treadmill and the recumbent bike don't work.

The property is going through major renovation. I wasn't aware of this at the time of my reservation. It was difficult to find the front door, but once found I was able to proceed. We thought the breakfast was high quality! Thanks.

In the middle of an exterior remodel. Parking was horrible we got there late night guys drinking in the parking lot he also had a dog off its leash that was not friendly and barking at us. Bed was like sleeping on a sidewalk probably should of slept in out car at the reat stop. Breakfast was the best part of the stay.

For $200. I expect way better. There was a constant mechanical noise in our room , all night, the building was being renovated and was pretty torn up. Very overpriced for what we got.

There was ongoing construction which hindered my ability to enter the building with a stroller a bit, but that’s the only thing.

two baseball teams, one volleyball team and a wedding taking over the hotel. kids running around up and down the hallway. parents taking over the lobby. couldn’t use the pool, too many kids. elevator broken. hotel did not enforce quiet hours.

A dirty towel hanging on the back of the bathroom door. Hand towel had long hair in it. Only 2 big towels. Only 1 chair in room and a footstool isn't a chair. Bed was hard and too tall for a 5 ft. tall person. Refrigerator was noisy and we had to turn it off.No guide for tv.

We noticed driving up to the property, it was very unkept. Weeds everywhere, entry doors were filthy. We did check in and front desk was very nice. Noticed carpet, elevator were not vacuumed. Went to the room and immediately knew we went staying. Bed looked like sheets hadn’t been changed and the room was falling apart. We checked out asap! Was very confusing because of the decent rating and reviews. Went over to Hampton inn and suites by Jordan creek. Much much nicer and very clean and well maintained

Upon entering our room, we were immediately struck with a smell of dog urine. We chose to check out.

The sink was clogged and my room wasn't cleaned after the first night. I informed the staff about the bathroom sink, but it wasn't addressed. The daytime staff was cold and unfriendly. I don't recommend this property

Have stayed here many times, this time noted many differences from other hotels we’ve recently stayed in. No microwave, windows have broken seal, so are all “steamed over”, and useless to see out. The bathroom door is so large, you almost need to stand in the bathtub to open and close the door. The fan in bathroom sounded like a motorcycle engine while running. I think we’ll stay elsewhere next time.

Clean, quiet, and very comfortable beds.

Was informed upon arrival that the internet was, quote, "glitchy". Turns out they had had no internet for a while due to the weather, and they knew this. Efforts to fix the internet seemed limited, and were certainly ineffective. Even by the next morning, no internet, and nobody there to fix it. Also, TV was weird, no guide listing programs available and no info of what was on - you could flip through channels but had no idea what you were watching. The bathroom had a bright light that came on when you turned out the regular lights, so I had to close the bathroom door in order to sleep. I got up in the night to use the bathroom, the bathroom door had locked by itself. Took 5 minutes of jiggling the door handle and lock, before I finally got the bathroom door to open. I didn't want to risk it locking again, so I taped paper over the light in the bathroom and left the door almost closed, and this was barely tolerable. Then birds started chirping extremely loudly at 4:45 a.m. and didn't stop. Very tough to sleep. There is little parking near the front door, and I had to lug my stuff a long way from the car. I saw later there were dollies for luggage, but I was not told of this. The exit from the motel is difficult - due to one way street, you have to go around, and get stuck behind a very long left turn arrow. Spent 5 minutes there trying to go for food. There is more, like bad, watered down OJ, but I have reached a word limit. Worst motel stay I have ever had.

This is a nice property that is well cared for, but there are several very irritating factors which make it doubtful I will ever stay at this site again. The main room has very poor lighting. It is very difficult to read comfortably, and not at all convenient to do work (poor lighting and desk space). There was only one chair in the room, which is very difficult for two persons in the room. There is also no microwave in the room, which is extremely inconvenient, since there is no forewarning about this lack of such a common appliance in the room on the property's website.

My keycard wouldn’t work for the outside doors and staff didn’t know their own building when I called in to get help getting in due to it raining they went to every door except the one I was standing at. The beds were hard and not as soft as I expected when staying at a Hampton.

The wifi did not work in our room. I talked to the front desk and she said everything was fine but she would restart it. She said to wait about 5 minutes. Well we waited and waited and the wifi actually got worse. We could not use internet at all the entire time we were there. If we sat on the floor close to the door it worked a little bit better but not much. When I was asked how our stay was the next morning I told him it was terrible because we had no internet all evening. So to compensate for this he offered me a chocolate bar from the “suite shop”! I was not impressed nor will I stay there again!

Heidi and Pam were wonderful when we checked in helping us with towels and blankets and making sure we were accommodated like we were family. Ashley was a godsend when we needed a later checkout. Hyvee around the corner. Highly recommend this Hampton!!!

Check-was very easy. Room was very clean. Breakfast was exceptional. Whoever worked that morning was meticulous in keeping everything stocked and clean. I was most impressed. That employee should be recognized.

Checked in at 9:00 and was asked if I had checked in already because they had someone already in my room...Took almost 20 minutes to get that straightened out.

The front desk staff was incredible. We had a problem with our booking and she went above & beyond to help us resolve it. The breakfast was very good. Beds were comfy.

The manager was terrible, and also he charge my card even that I paid in cash, i have the invoice with me sand very rude, They need to train better the staff the young guy was very rude and he at the front desk Honestly I am very disappointed and he claim that the problem is not the hotel is expedia

Great stay, minor issues that staff was very quick to resolve. Staff across the board was amazing, very personable and helpful. Breakfast was standard fare but presented well, dining and serving areas were always clean and always someone available to assist if needed

The breakfast was 5 star. The pool was great. Pillows were good, beds were a little too firm. Overall great place to stay, very close to mall and tons of shopping and dining options super close.

Hotel is very clean, room spacious, bed very comfortable and bathroom lovely. But, if you like your shower hot, turn the water on a few minutes before you get in. Location very convenient if your are traveling on highway 80, but, no restaurants within walking distance!

No dining options in walking distance, but easy access to bars and restaurants by vehicle. There were many families staying who were attending AAU Kids State Wrestling yet it was quiet enough for us to sleep late. Also right next to interstate, yet quiet.

Great central location. Nice and clean. Coffee bar all day and great breakfast buffet.

The Hampton Inn was clean, pleasant staff, excellent room and nice breakfast. The only complaint we would have is road noise.

The hotel was close to I-80 which was convenient for our road trip.

Great location. Very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was wonderful. My only complaint was the orange juice. It was very watery. I let the breakfast attendant know. She checked it, but it was still watery. That must just be the way they serve it.

Property is getting a bit tired and worn. Rooms were done, but we were lacking towels. A quick phone call resolved that. Breakfast was mediocre with a good selection of food, but nothing inspiring. The hotel was clean and safe. This was our third year staying at it, but we will find a new place next time.
