Hotel Versey Chicago Lincoln Park

This stay was average because the parking sucked. You park in the mall garage, and it’s $30 every time you leave the garage with your car. First of all, $30 is ridiculous. But, for every time? It’s a fabulous hotel in and of itself, but the experience sucks because of the parking situation. There is a lot to do and walk around to, but they need to work out some deal with the parking garage owners. To compound all that, they charge you an additional $75 deposit even if you prepay.

For a boutique hotel this was just fine in terms of condition , staff and price. However the requirement for off site parking in a mall garage with multiple stairs and ticket payment options were not clear and made both the check in process and departure inconvenient to say the very least. While I did appreciate the room upgrade and more candid listing could have avoided my resentment .

Great staff... No attached parking (Expedia listing is wrong. There's a garage around the block...$60 a session... Overnight is fine but multiple in and out isn't feasible. Overnight street parking (10pm to 8am) is free. Trader Joe's is across the street. 😁 Nice rooms. Comfortable bed.

The hotel is convenient to Wrigley Field. The room is a bit worn and shabby, particularly for the price, although I suspect it is competitively priced for the area. The elevator was broken for a portion of my stay. I was fine with the stairs but that could be an issue for other guests.

Parking was not on site but a safe parking garage was very close. Staff very friendly and helpful with local area questions

Elevator is slow and tiny

The location is excellent. It has no restaurant but there are lots of restaurants with varied cuisine. The decor is tired but will be redone soon as it has been sold to Hilton. Staff is very nice. Our room was clean but only recleaned every 3 days.

Overall, it was good. The room was spacious and clean. We were able to check in early by paying an extra $25 which was nice. I wish they still had valet parking that’s really only complaint. The parking garage is close but it would be worth the extra charge for valet parking. They also do not have in and out with parking so once you park you have to stay there so we just went places within walking distance. There is a lot within walking distance. If you stay here go to Stan’s donuts, yum!!

Wonderful location, super clean and great staff.

Excellent restaurants near hotel. Uniquely decorated lobby. Hotel beeds a major renovation to modernize the rooms. We had to switch rokms because our first assigbed room was dirty. Staff was very accommodating.

This property was disgusting--the bathroom sink and tub drains were clogged, there were tiny flies all over the bathroom, I woke up with bug bites one morning, and the overall condition of the room was poor.

It was a very nice experience! Very clean and the staff was great! Very welcoming and attentive. This was my first time booking a hotel and visiting Chicago and I was very impressed!

Spider webs in corner by ceiling in 2 spots. Bathroom very cold. No water pressure in shower.

Pictures online did not look the same as they did in person. There was garbage in the hallways. The wallpaper was wrapped and the room did not feel clean. We had originally booked our stay for three nights and had to cancel our reservation and find somewhere else to stay. Very disappointed.

Clean room. Pleasant staff. For an accessible room, I do wish it was closer to the elevator. But it was a great room and I especially loved the bathroom.

The hotel was nasty but the staff was incredible . It was cracks in the wall , and we found a roach crawling in our room. The hotel is due for an upgrade It was convenient because we were going to the Chris Brown concert for 2 days, they charged me almost 800 dollars . Also they were drug addicts hanging around the area . I would save your money .

Easy to find, great staff, comfortable beds and pillows, clean, secure. If I go back to Chicago, I'll definitely stay there again.

The bathroom in my room was extremely old. The fixtures were really old and the tv didn’t drain.

My only complaints were how dated elevator and bathroom were. The lobby design had me excited for something the room didn’t offer . All the doors and hallways are very narrow and the bathroom is tight for 1 person to be comfortable in

The double room we had requested in booking was not available so they gave us two single rooms. Room very small and hard to move around. Bathroom very small as well. Was clean and not abused. A definite in and out type of room.

Pros-great location, elevator, beds ok Cons-VERY NOISY street noise, thin walls inside, bathroom dated, faucet loose, 30$ parking no in and out, no food except snacks.DONT EXPECT TO SLEEP!

The hotel was ok. The room had no refrigerator & no microwave so come prepared to have nothing cold. The shower/bathroom was ridiculously outdated & was next to impossible to adjust the temperature of the barely-pouring-out water. The air conditioner was absolutely horrible. There were two temperatures that it functioned at: Meat locker & not working. It turned on at its own accord & no turning of the knobs would work to get it cooling. Better a/c units at the Super 8. The lone elevator took forever to get to where you needed it. Overall the entire place could use some updating in regards to the inner workings. Plenty of stuff to do in the general area & if you feel like walking, you can walk to a Cubs game or simply grab the train around the corner.

Probably the loudest room I have ever stayed in. It’s fine with ear plugs, but be prepared to wake up in the night to ten cars honking their horns at each other.

The good: location, friendly staff. The neutral: cleaning once every three nights or so. No amenities or food but plenty of options nearby. The bad: a/c noise at night was somewhat loud. WiFi connection very bad (1-3 Mbps)

Great location. Walk to endless restaurants, lakefront, churches, Trader Joe's across the street, Target down the block, Original Pancake House across the street and Stan's Donuts nextdoor. It is nice to have a mini fridge, microwave, & safe. Mattress and pillows were very comfortable. Downsides - in-room coffee is simply tiny espresso shots not worth figuring out how to reach the outlet for plugging in. Bathroom was clean, but there were more strands of dark hair on the floor, tub, and window sill than I'd expect. Avoid room 422. Front desk "upgraded" our room to a King bed, but at the cost of having a hallway closet cut out a 4ft x 5ft corner of our room and a picture window view of a brick wall. The bathroom and closet windows had a view IF they hadn't frosted over them, even though we were out of range from outside viewing. There is no coffee service in the lobby, so spend $10 each morning for two coffees and an apple fritter at Stan's Donuts. The worst part is the fact that the walls are paper thin. On our first night, our neighbors were up past 12:30. Someone would occasionally speak up to be heard, then they would all laugh... just enough to keep me awake until I finally figured out I could turn our HVAC fan on "constant" to drown them out with white noise. I did not call the front desk because I did not feel our neighbors were abusive at all - the walls were the problem. They left after the first night, so no problem after that.

Great location. Hotel is fun. Slightly eclectic. But we had a great stay. Our concierge Niel couldnt have been more helpful and so nice.

Staff unresponsive

We appreciate the proximity to family & this is our go-to hotel with each visit. We especially want to acknowledge the Front Desk Clerk Neil as amazing with each stay. However, he went above & beyond maintaining professionality when dealing with a small group of obviously intoxicated adult individuals/hotel guests one evening. They were VERY obnoxious! My husband & I had just returned for the evening. We hope that Hotel Management will acknowledge Neil for excellent customer service. Isaac & Adrian were also very helpful during our stay. The only disappointment was when housekeeping was scheduled to clean our room, only our bed was made-bedding was not changed, trash removed & toilet cleaned. Our room was not vacuumed & tables were not wiped off. No coffee pods/cups, toiletries & an extra toilet paper roll (as usual) were left, so my husband had to go to the front desk to request items. This has not happened in previous stays. Thank you. We are looking forward to visiting when the new bar space is opened.

After returning from a long day out the day after our first night, housecleaning had not visited the room. I asked about it at the desk and was informed that housecleaning is done every 3 days. First, I'd heard of it. The bathroom, though clean, lacked ventilation and a radiator.

Upon check-in, the man at the front desk made repeated, loud comments about wanting to kill himself due to staffing issues. I didn’t appreciate that in front of my child. There was also dirty laundry in my room, left from presumably the previous guest.

I was excited to see this property so close to Wrigley. And maybe one day, it will be worth the price they're charging. There are no amenities in this hotel and limited housekeeping to every few days by request. But the worst was the front desk staff. I was in for a cancer visit and ball game and needed to extend my stay one night. Adrian, the front desk clerk, explained that we'd have to change rooms if we took the king room we reserved. But, if we took a lesser room, we wouldn't need to change rooms. And, he five is the same rate for the trouble. All we'd need to do is come down, show ID, and get a new key card after breakfast. When I stopped to do that the next day, the assistant GM told me that my stay had not been extended. Inconvenient, but not a problem. Then she tells me it will be nearly twice what I paid to extend. When I explained what we'd been told by Adrian, she said, 'I don't know what to tell you. We don't match rates. ' The Chicago Collection Hotel took us at less then what we paid for Hotel Versey on the first night. It's closer to Wrigley, cleaner, nicer, and newer.

The front desk agent, Neil, went above and beyond our expectations and was helpful.

The 2 men at the desk told me there was a nothing available after I showed them my booking records. They took my information and complained that I booked through Expedia and their systems were in transition. I asked for a recommendation and was told, "this isn\'t the Wyatt or Hilton anymore, good luck." I was frustrated, but the more senior man told me there was nothing they could do and then started telling me about his husband that was dying of cancer so I shouldn\'t complain. His neanderthal compadre suggested I call management and maybe they\'d give you a free room. This was a painful experience. I ended up staying at the Felix downtown.

Was there for a ballgame and the 25 minute walk was perfect. Lots of amenities in that part of town, and sounds like you will have a restaurant soon…that would be helpful. The lobby was wonderful, friendly staff, and clean rooms with comfy beds. The bathrooms need an update badly!! It’s the only thing I was disappointed in!!! Seriously, update!! At least the room we were in, because otherwise the room was large and comfy!

Many restaurants and groceries at Trader Joes a few steps away. Slept like a baby. Cold AC and quiet clean room with fresh linens. CTA stops within easy walk. Walk to lake Michigan in 10 minutes. Great stay without the hustle bustle and cost of flashier properties.

Loved the convenience of the location

Walking distance to Wrigley Field (~1-2mi), with convenience stores, coffee shops and restaurants within a 5-10 min walk. The room was very nice and quiet.

Adrian is the best!!! Always very accommodating and helpful. This has been my go to hotel in all of Chicago land.

This hotel is conveniently located to East Lakeview, Lakeview, and Wrigleyville. All are within walking distance, but there are also bus stops nearby. Parking is available in a garage around the corner. Stan's Donuts next door and Starbucks across the street along with Chip City. Plenty of restaurants within walking distance along nearby Broadway street. There is a TJ Maxx, and other shopping nearby. The hotel beds are comfortable, and the hotel is quiet. Safe card access to elevator, stairs, and front door (after hours)

Hotel Versey is in the perfect location in Lincoln Park, close to so many restaurants and also our son’s apartment. Parking is a bit of a challenge - it’s either the $30/day ramp or street parking which is hard to find - 2 hour limit until 6:00 and free on Sunday. That worked for us since we stayed on a Saturday night. The vibe and decor of the lobby is cool and the rooms are a good size and clean - rather dated but the king size bed was comfortable. We had our small (4 lb) puppy with us and there aren’t many grassy areas close by to walk her so that was a problem. But all in all in was a great place - we would definitely stay again.

Great location if you are interested in a cubs game - walkable and close to bus stop to travel downtown.

We had a great trip. The hotel is in a nice area and walkable to the beach, restaurants, shopping, and Wrigley Field.

2nd time staying. Came for a Cubs game and to spend time w/my Son. Rates are usually great but don’t be upset if it’s the night of a game! Hotel is quirky, no restaurant on site (yet) and rooms are small, bathrooms smaller. Only real complaints are no hand lotion (bottle was on sink, it was empty! And you need to be an engineer to operate the coffee maker! Save the stress and go over to Stan’s Donuts across the street. But the neighborhood is great. My son got a local park pass and we left my car on the street. Uber to Wrigley it’s more than a few steps but if you walk it is safe and lots to see along the way. Great location for a north side stay.

Loved the staff, they were so helpful, accommodating, engaging, and complementary! The only downside was the availability of coffee in the room. It was terrible. Regular coffee pots need to be installed with nice options for cream and sugar. We had to go out for coffee every morning which was kind of a hassle.

Small but helpful staff. Artwork in lobby is u usual and interesting. Wall mural in room is very chicago and nice, referencing local attractions like wrigley field. Stans donuts and starbucks at the corner, lots of inexpensive ethnic restaurants nearby, only 1.5 mile walk to the lincoln park zoo.
