Holiday Inn Chicago Countryside SW

The room was clean, but our key cards kept having to be reprogrammed. The hotel was conveniently located for what we were there for. I was aware the pool was closed for renovations but not the gym or the restaurant until we arrived. The staff were pleasant though.

The pool and workout room are closed until next yet so this was a huge disappointment

Every elevator was down during our 5 days stay and we had to climb 4 flights of stairs every day with a baby and a car seats. They also had a fire citation on the door for this issue. Doing this with 3 children every time we wanted to come or go was very taxing. The owner provided mo compensation or other offerings for the inconvenience. I was offered a room on a lower floor, but it was a smaller room that would not comfortably fit the family and they would not refund me the difference in price. The pool was closed and the refreshments in the lobby were not inviting or good.

Room was very nice but was disappointed that the restaurant on site had closed. They do need to get the elevators fixed. I had to take the stairs.

Not a good hotel elevator kept breaking and pool was out of order

The pool was not open, staff was okay, there is a deposit that they did not tell me about ($100-refundable), cleaning never left the right amount of towels, keys kept on needing to be rekeyed, the parking is average, and the worst was the “breakfast”. A “grab-n-go” was not okay, but very minimal.

Had to request daily room service, pool, was closed, restaurant was closed.

There were broken fixtures in the bathroom. Staff were friendly. Card keys had to be replaced several times. Pool out of service. Elevator out of service at times.

No pool and no gym avaliable and no smart tv 😢

Bedbugs!!! We stayed for 2 nights in December 2024, found a full grown bedbug crawling on us while we were relaxing. Took photos and sent to managament. I put the bedbug in a plastic bag and brought it to the front desk at 11 pm. Had to change rooms a few floors apart at 12:00 am! Ive called a numerous times to talk with managment but they say they are busy or will give you a call back and employees say they take this very seriously. Now its been a full week and management has not called nor emailed. I doubt they did anything at all to rectify their infestation, and am just hoping I wont write a review since I acted calm and collective during the situation. My gf couldnt sleep the whole night because she had bites on her back and was scared. We had to sanitize our clothes, purchase multiple bed bug killers for our clothes and baggage and have the potential of having BEDBUGS in our homes which can cost thousands to fix. Dont waste your time and money staying at this location and possibly spending thousands to not have to live with bedbugs. A disgrace to the Holiday Inn name.

We did have to change rooms, due to the first one having a foul odor and being dirty. However, we were quickly put in a new room that was much better

Not clean. Smelled marijuana the entire stay, so not family friendly. This is an older building, but only needed upgrades were done. Staff was sleeping in the lobby on the couch. When asked for additional towels, was given what I thought to be stained cleaning rags - they were washed, but still. Do not bother staying here. Far cry from Holiday Inn standards; corporate definitely needs to step in here at this location!

Not clean at all! Restroom had hair in tub, there were stains on floor, and also unknown dried liquids I On the headboard. I checked in at 2am for a two night stay and was checked out by 9am.

The room was damp with a filthy rug. Shower leaked onto floor with shower door closed. Room was dated and uninviting. If I could have changed the reservation without losing money, I would have walked. Pass next time in town.

Upon entering our room I notice a bed bug in our bed. We immediately left. The place had a weird smell to it.

made a reservation on hotels.com and got a confirmation number. Shortly thereafter, I received 3 missed phone calls from the hotel, but no one left a message. WhenI arrived, I was told that the rooms were sold out. I asked how is that possible if I have a confirmation number. Then, I was given a filthy room that reeked of cigarettes. I was told that I couldn't switch rooms. The smell was so bad that I couldn't sleep and my hair smelled like cigarette smoke in the morning. I have stayed at this hotel often and was always satisfied, but this experience was god awful. Not IHG quality.

The customer service was great, very welcoming & nice. My only complaint was the cleanliness in the restroom.

Very clean

Only thing, I didn't like was the tv isn't updated. It's too old school plus limited channels. It's not a smart TV where we can watch apps such as Netflix, Peacock, Paramount plus and etc.

Overall our stay was really nice and our room had everything we needed and everything was clean. The only issue was that the doors to the other rooms often slammed shut waking me up.

Check in staff was very friendly. Rooms were renovated and clean. Beds were comfy. I would stay again.

It was a decent stay for what you pay for but a few little things could a long way. A few of them are - bad smell on 5th floor, key cards constantly not working and parking lines so faded cars were parked diagonally incorrectly everywhere. I did like the room. It was spacious and clean. Beds were also comfy. In all, room was great, outside the room, not so much.

Bathrooms were beautiful! Walls were very thin. It honestly sounded like someone was in MY bathroom every time the neighbors used theirs! Woke me up every time.

Non existent breakfast, suites aren’t as pictured or described as there is no separate bedroom or living room. It’s just one big room which isn’t ideal if you’re travelling with others and want separate spaces. Lobby is beautiful but everything else is outdated and desperate need of freshening up.

My room didn’t have hot water

Nice stay. Room was comfy, but poorly lit. Bathroom only had shower and no exhaust fan (for bathroom use)or heat lamp to counter the really good air conditioning. Refrigerator good but loud, disturbing at night. Put up sign for maid to come back later (twice) but they never did. Told front desk on one occasion and they said it would be taken care of, but it did not happen. Put trash outside in hallway every day. Bed was made only once and that was at check-in. Towels piled up in bathroom. Ice machine in our floor didn't work until the last night we were there. Lobby was nice. Staff was friendly. Would stay again.

Clean and spacious room. Shower was fantastic. Maybe not newly renovated, but clearly well kept facilities. Parking was convenient and location is close to - but not right next to - several major highways. Friendly and efficient staff. Breakfast was pretty minimal. The walls aren’t thin, but you can hear everything in the hallway through the door, including other doors shutting and people walking past. Probably not the most comfortable for a light sleeper. More of a driving area than a walking area. On the plus side, tons of restaurants, stores, gas stations, etc just a short drive away. DoorDash also delivers to this location. Overall a great stay.

Stay was nice as well as staff. The only problem was that water kept pooling up on our ac unit.

The lobby itself smelled awful, arrived and the front desk was rude commenting on my appearance as if i didn’t book a hotel because i’ve been traveling all day. The gave my room away to someone else and I ended up with a downgraded room, unavailable for refund so had to suffice. Would not recommend this location.

When I arrived and tried to get into my room the door was already open which made me nervous as I’m travelling alone. Got locked out of my room because my keys wouldn’t work. When I contacted the front desk they said they would send someone up to check/help and I waited in the hallway for 45 mins, no one came. I went down to the front desk and they didn’t seem too worried when I expressed my concerns. There was a lot of noise and commotion on my floor all through the night with yelling, slamming doors, running down the halls. There were 4 lamps for lighting but two were missing lightbulbs so it was kinda dark. I’ve had better experiences with holiday inns before so this just surprised me. Like it wasn’t terrible, but wasn’t the greatest.

"Warm hospitality from Jose & Cindy – a mostly great 8-day stay!" I recently stayed for 8 days and wanted to highlight the fantastic hospitality from Jose (a young gentleman) and Cindy at the front desk. From the moment I arrived, both greeted me with warm smiles and went above and beyond to make me feel welcome. As a Brit who enjoys a proper cup of tea, I really appreciated how easy they made it to get boiling water — no hassle at all. Unfortunately, I did have one less pleasant encounter with another desk agent who answered a call while I was mid-conversation with him. He came across as rude and inattentive, which definitely put a damper on an otherwise enjoyable stay. That said, the housekeeping team were consistently friendly and clearly worked hard throughout the hotel. I didn’t need daily cleaning, but any issues in my room were handled quickly and efficiently (especially considering we’re not used to air conditioning in the UK!). Overall, it was a great stay — clean, comfortable, and welcoming. I’d definitely recommend this hotel and would be happy to return. Thanks again to Jose and Cindy for making the difference!

The staff is really good in customer service

The desk staff was kind and patient. I had called ahead, due to delayed flight, thus a delayed check-in. They were awesome!

Front desk guy was very ignorant and unpleasant when I checked in. But when I checked out the other guy was nice.

Worse customer service at check in, paid for the Friday night since we were arriving super early Saturday to assure our room would be available and it was not. Was told by the receptionist “I don’t have any room available, I don’t know what to tell you”. Key needed to be reset after every use. Couldn’t pay me to stay here again.

I enjoyed my stay however I left my battery operated toothbrush in the room. I called and spoke to housekeeping who said they would call me back. I never heard back. I called again hoping I could pick it up before I left the Chicago area and left a message and again never heard back. Now 6 days later no phone call telling me if they found my toothbrush or not. Before the trip I also messaged the hotel two different questions and never received a reply. So communication is poor.

The room was clean with a nice modern/cozy aesthetic, nearby tons of restaurants and shopping!

Close to I55. Close to restaurants. Adequate parking. The hotel was clean and the staff was friendly.

Overall, it's a good hotel, strategically located, in a safe area with several nearby services, shops, restaurants...

Unfortunately the restaurant and pool were under renovation during our stay. The area is mostly car dealerships but Oakbrook Shopping Mall is a short drive and has everything you could possibly want! Lagrange is a 10 minute drive away and is charming a very walkable downtown area with great restaurants.

Hotel was a convenient option to stay near Midway Airport. Room was comfortable & clean. Staff was friendly & welcoming.

The location was good

Although advertised both here and on their website, no breakfast is available - Do NOT upgrade for daily breakfast - there isn't any. Both the restaurant and pool have also been our of service for years, and we had to request a refund for our breakfast upgrade. Rooms are clean and modern, but tired. Carpets show wear, hooks and towel bars are damaged/loose. Overall, a perfectly useable hotel but no longer posh or upscale.

Everything was good except for breakfast. The grab and go breakfast left a lot to be desired.

Was disappointed there was no restaurant on the premises like the website had stated. The reason we chose that hotel was because it had a bar and restaurant on the premises. We like it when we can stay and have the comfort of the hotel and restaurant in the same place.

Breakfast was a little disappointing but the coffee was good.

The problem was that the pool was close and they don't said anything until the reservation was done. I paid for the buffet on my reservation and the restaurant was close they said that gonna give me a refund but they didn't

I picked the $20 more room option because it included breakfast (the cheaper room did not). When I got there, I discovered that breakfast was free for all guests. Additionally, it wasn't a full warm breakfast as stated on their website. They had apples, oranges, yogurt, and muffins. Getting 1 star from me due to the deceptive breakfast package.
