Motel 6-Sycamore, IL

Stayed with my dog for 5 nights. Staff kept the place clean. Walls are pretty thin, but sort of to be expected. Not too bad for the price.

Indoor corridors were a plus. Rooms (I stayed in two different rooms) were clean. Amenities were basic as you would expect for the price. The deluxe suites are worth the extra $20 per night. The single queen rooms are about the size of a dorm room. Lighting and fixtures were fine. There is no breakfast, only coffee from 6-10 in the lobby. If you only need a place to shower and crash, this fits the bill. Do take the time to inspect towels and linens. Mine were clean but there were residual stains on the sheets. They will not service rooms unless you ask them to, so make sure you have enough towels. My single room came with one. The location is very convenient to Sycamore and DeKalb.

This is a basic non frills property but it's clean and safe. And the price is very reasonable. I would stay again.

Slow check in. TV didn’t work. Refrigerator was unplugged so it was warm and smelled. Pillows are extremely uncomfortable. One ice machine in main lobby, none on any of the floors. Vending machines took my money.

I was hoping for more than your typical Motel 6 but I don't think it is run very well. No exercise room or business room available. Vending machines contained Great Value chips, etc. Terrible "desk chair" and spotty internet. Sheets were like sleeping under craft paper and the shower curtain rod was pulled out of the wall. Seemed to be several "long term" residents.

This was very adequate for an overnight stop for 1 person and a dog.

Room was right next to ice machine and vending machines so constant noise. Bathroom had no shampoo, conditioner or lotion

I would not recommend staying here it was sketchy. There was little to no amenities and I mean not even shampoo in the bathroom. The door locks on almost every door were broken from being kicked in. It was very insecure. Legitimately this is a $45 a night room.

Horrific! It was filthy, they didn’t clean the rooms, sheets were unwashed, stains on all linens, floors unswept, checked into a room at 11pm that hadn’t been touched by housekeeping, the whole building smelled like feet, hair and crumbs in the beds in the new room switched to, multiple items broken in rooms, a sheet covering a doorway, and creepy 2 way looking mirrors over the beds.

My first room, the refrigerator was broken and the bedsheets were covered in old bed bug stains. When I told management, they asked me if I wanted to take a working one out of a different room and switch it with mine... I laughed and said WHY CANT YOU JUST PUT ME IN A DIFFERENT ROOM??? Most of the "clean" towels were also covered in stains, thank God I brought my own. After switching rooms, the AC unit in my new room smelled like musty mold and was awful. Out of the 3 nights I stayed, house cleaning came ONE TIME and just threw the "new" towels on top of my toothbrush and personal hygiene products. Thats disgusting, who knows how clean that stuff actually is! The nightstand next to my bed was still covered in someones vomit, and the bathroom floor had other peoples hair all over it. Absolutely disgusting, I took all of my clothes straight to the cleaners after my trip in fear of bringing home an invader. Someone else in the building had a dog who wouldnt stop barking all night, and the people above me must've been doing acrobats like they're auditioning for Amercias Got Talent... until 4am! I'll never stay here again, and if you're reading this... spend the extra 20 bucks a night to stay somewhere else. Trust me. What an awful experience!

80% of towels/washrags were stained or had other peoples hair on them. Wood flooring is paper thin, people above were stomping and running around and it amplified and resonated into the room. Could hear the folks in the adjacent room all night talking and laughing, they weren't yelling or being excessively loud. Again, every sound was just amplified. The security latch/bar was barely attached and the door looked like someone had previously tried breaking in. There was an used bar of soap placed on top of the shower from a prior resident that was there when I arrived. Overall ratings I gave were probably generous.

It was very clean. Needed a place to stay since my boyfriend was having surgery at the hospital and I just needed a place to sleep. It served the purpose that I needed it for. The people above me were very loud, but for the most part I was so tired after spending an entire day at the hospital, I was able to fall fast asleep. The bed was very comfortable.

Good value. Stayed here for a wedding at a winery 20 minutes away. Room was clean & comfortable. Staff was friendly. The door on our room didn’t shut or open easily so you had to give it a bit of a shove but they did tell us that when we checked in. No complaints.

The motel is clean and tidy and quiet. Check in and check out is easy. Very close to a Walmart, Meiger and food choices. Very polite staff.

We were in town for one night. Arriving at the hotel, we were i positively impressed by the hotel appearance. Staff at front desk greeted us with a welcoming smile. The process of checking in and out went smoothly and quickly. Room was super nice looking, very clean and smelled clean, Loved the counter for luggage or whatever plus a desk and chair! Microwave & small fridge both clean and working. Temperature control was working great. Our only disappointment was with the mattress. We found it was uncomfortable and had trouble sleeping that night.

I would avoid this property in the summer. When I stepped into my room it was uncomfortably warm, and upon checking the AC unit I realized why: it had stopped with an "E9" error. And that\'s when I remembered staying at this same motel before and encountering the same problem in other rooms: the AC unit needs to be turned off and then on again, but will only work for a half-hour before it stops and displays that same E9 error. I woke up a few times during the night (hard to sleep in such a hot room) to reset the AC unit, but the room was still uncomfortable in the morning. I asked the front desk clerk about it, and she said, "Oh, is it doing that again?" Clearly this is a known issue which has plagued this hotel for *years*, and still isn\'t fixed. Avoid during any month you think you might want working AC. And since the same unit controls the heat, I wouldn\'t be confident it would work in the winter...

The room was small, but the air and heat worked great. The bed was comfortable enough, sheets felt clean. The shower made an awful high pitched squeak unless we turned it on as hot as it could go. It was a quiet stay overall, and the room was clean. Not a fan of the orange paint.

The walls were so thin I was kept awake from snoring and general bodily noises

The most uncomfortable beds I have ever slept in. The rooms were small but they were nice. The heater was loud and no matter how far it was turned down it was still way to hot to sleep.

The door lock was not functioning properly

I had a great stay, except for noise which I know the hotel can't always control. The guests above walked around their room a great deal making lots of noise and I could hear the guests next door (connecting, closed door) carry on their conversation just as if we were in the same room!

Bed was very old, lumpy, uncomfortable. Lighting is the bright white cold light that’s bad for sleep; worse it comes on automatically in the bathroom so a 3am nature call becomes an assault (couldn’t see a way to turn that off). That being said you get what you pay for. We got a good rate and only stayed one night. It was ok for that, but I wouldn’t stay longer.

The rooms were clean. The staff was friendly. They were really on it.

The front desk was empty most of the time, causing waits by everyone wanting to check in or out.

Liked it better than the Super 8. Very clean. TV remote didn't work well, but the manager replaced it right away. Nothing very special, but clean and management right on top of things. A good value for the money.....

This served our needs very nicely. We were an hour away from our grandsons track meet. Price was right. Location was close to restaurant's.

It was kept clean and had Canadian geese on the pond.

Family owned. Stay there frequently due to knowing the Family. Unfortunately, homeless are starting to live there, and they (the homeless) are not taking care of the property. Trash in the parking lot, and in the stairwells, and at the trash cans. No wonder they are homeless, as they live like slobs!! This is NOTHING against owners!! The owners I have watched their kids grow up!! I support this Family’s small business and hard work!! They are always accommodating!! When in town I stay there, because it is a good location with a good price!!

Great, friendly staff at the desk. Mattresses and beds very old and metal springs noisy. Walls paper thin and loud adult activity in various rooms during waking hours. In general extremely outdated. If that isn't bad enough, cars beeping, lock/unlock at all hours of the night and sounds like right outside the window even on upper floors. No breakfast, coffee not good.

We were rather disappointed. Motel 6 used to be less expensive because it was bare bones. It was bare bones but the same price as other motels with more to offer. The color of the walls was horrible. The mattresses were lumpy, the pillows lumpy, the sheet felt like plastic, no hair dryer, no breakfast, one very small wooden chair, terrible TV, unsecure wi-fi. Not worth the money.

Overall it was a good stay. I have to admit that this was the first hotel I stayed in that doesn’t offer in room coffee. Also it has the most unmanned front desk.
