The morning staff was a great improvement over the nighttime check-in staff. His cheerfulness helped me start my day wonderfully. I visited during an August weekend with an extremely high humidity day/night cycle. Staying in a room on the sixth floor was less than ideal. The bed was comfortable and allowed me to fall asleep. The AC cooled the room to 68 degrees F, but when it reached the temperature it shut off and the room became stuffy. This continual fluctuation in room temperature did cause me to wake up a few times during the night.

I’ve stayed at this Best Western in the past, but unfortunately this will likely be my last stay. The biggest downside is that the hotel is very outdated. The furniture looked old, there was peeling paint in some areas, and the room wasn’t as clean as I expected. The overall condition of the property could use some updating. The location is convenient, especially for anyone visiting Washington, DC. I also want to give credit to the front desk employee who assisted me. She was extremely nice, professional, and genuinely tried to help with my situation. I accidentally booked the wrong dates through a third-party booking site and had to make a second reservation for the dates I actually needed. I understand the original reservation was non-refundable. However, I contacted both the hotel and corporate customer service to see if a one-time exception could be made. The customer service agent tried to help, which I appreciated, but ultimately the hotel would not make an exception. Because I couldn’t get a refund, I ended up making another trip to the hotel the following week just to use the reservation rather than lose the money I had already paid. Overall, the convenient location and friendly front desk staff were positives, but the outdated property, cleanliness issues, and handling of the reservation situation left me disappointed, especially as a returning guest. I appreciate the front desk staff who tried to assist me, but unfortunately, I won’t be staying again.

There is a great opportunity to improve the cleanliness of this hotel, especially the bathroom. It was disappointing to find a broken shower curtain, a clogged sink drain, dirty shower fixtures that I had to wipe down myself, and a bathroom floor that was not clean. In addition, the hallway carpets are in unacceptable condition and have a strong, unpleasant odor that is noticeable as soon as you enter the lobby area. I hope management takes these concerns seriously, reviews the property's condition, and implements a plan to address these issues. With better housekeeping and maintenance, the overall guest experience could be greatly improved.
